Qualitative interviews were performed with six managers in public sector. We combined the interview-study with an analysis of documents from the authorities. Theories that were used to analyse the result where system-theory and crisis-communication. The result showed that the authorities had good knowledge and tools at their disposal to manage the crisis that come up by the media examination. Several of the informers agreed to that the pre-work with crisis should be a priority in the organization. We found the managers experienced that media presented the authorities in a negative way but agreed to that media is important for examining the government authorities.

Nilsson, Susanne, Tersmeden, Louise January 2007 (has links)
<p>The purpose with this study was to examine which opinions and knowledge the directors have about the physical residential environment's importance on accommodations for people with dementia disease and how they do to create and to maintain a good physical residential environment. The issues have been: Which opinions and knowledge the directors had about the physical residential environment's importance for the people with dementia? How did the managers work in order to create and maintain a good physical residential environment? We had four themes, homelike environment on the accommodations, priorities on the accommodation, care/nursing in the physical residential environment and the manager’s possibility to influence the physical residential environment. The study followed a qualitative method. Five managers were interviewed on four accommodations and the managers were said to work actively with the physical residential environment. The results of the study were analyzed on the basis of Antonovskys theoretical perspectives called ”the feeling of contexts”. The result showed that the managers considered that the living environment for people with dementia should be a homelike environment which is individual tailored from their previous life. The managers wanted to accomplish a living environment which stimulated involvement.</p>

Sociala omsorgsprogrammets yrkesrelevans

Lundeqvist, Veronika, Nyberg, Sofia January 2006 (has links)
This thesis The vocational relevance of the programme in Social Care has the intention to study how students with an examination from the programme in Social Care oriented towards Elderly and Disabled at Örebro University, describes the education concerning its ability to prepare them for a profession as manager in government organized elderly care. Throughout the study three conceptions are essential; vocational relevance, knowledge and leadership. The study’s empirical material is based on interviews with managers in elderly care. The main result in this essay is that the question on the vocational relevance of the programme in Social Care is ambiguous. The prospects of performing a good quality in the leadership among management in elderly care also depends on individual skills, earlier work experience and the organization according to number of employees and support. The programme in Social Care is a compulsory education and may not be viewed as sufficient enough in an advanced leadership. Otherwise the education perhaps should change according to these demands of the employer. However this study shows that this demands sometimes is incongruous. To perform a good leadership does not only depend on the education, the conditions in the organization is also as essential.</p>

Månsson, Elin, Nordbeck, Anne January 2009 (has links)
<p>The aim of this study was to get knowledge of the communicationprocess between the branch head and the co-worker in communal geriatric care. To narrow it down we focused on how the branch head experience the communicationprocess in conflictsituations between co-workers and what she or he usually do to resolve the conflict. We made qualitative interviews with ten of the branch heads in communal geriatric care, in four communes. The questions we had in mind throughout the study was based on four keywords (communication, leadership, conflict and conflict management) of which we created a narrative story from every interviewing person to get hold of the experience and knowledge behind their interviews. In our analysis as theoretical perspectives we used system theory, communication theory, attribution theory and the philosophy of Dialogue by Martin Buber. Our result show that the communication between both co-workers and the branch head is the most important tool for conflict management. Here lies a well functioning dialogue where the co-workers get the chance to question, be heard and mark their limit. Based on the interviews we saw that no matter how the branch head treat and lead the co-workers, conflict will rise. However, there are a few things pointed out as important to ease the effect on conflict and that is to communicate with straight and forward messages, inform the co-workers what goal the organization has and strive after a mutual relationship between everyone in the organization. The response then show a group of prosperous co-workers that accept the fact that they can have different opinions and yet work in harmony together and come to decisions that benefit the client. Most of our interviewing persons believe that leadership is about self-reflection, humbleness to oneself and others and to know the right time when to set clear boundaries.</p>

Prevention of depression among elderly people : A qualitative study about how unit managers for residential homes looks at the prevention of depression among elderly people.

Eriksson, Emelie, Tydén Oledal, Louise January 2012 (has links)
Studies show that 10-15 percent of Sweden's population, 65 years or older are estimated to have depression or depression symptoms. The symptoms of depression among elderly people are less than symptoms of young people. This could cause that elderly people with depression are not always discovered. Studies show that elderly people who live in residential homes show more signs of depression than elderly people living at home. If elderly people live in a supporting environment, can it prevent that a depression developed. The prevention of depression among elderly people is a topic that is not discussed among previously research. The purpose of this study is to examine how the unit managers of the residential homes for elderly people look at the prevention of depression. This study is qualitative where six unit managers in charge of residential homes have been interviewed. The interviews were based on different themes; how the unit managers approach the prevention of depression among elderly people and how they describe the discretion to take preventive treatment for depression among elderly people, also the unit manager views on elderly peoples depression. The study is made in a small number of municipalities which means that it can not be generalized. The result may not be the same if the study had been made on a larger scale. The results of the study show that the unit managers of the residential homes for elderly people work to prevent depression in different ways. An explanation of why the unit managers works different are based on the unit manager ideas and interpretations of depression among elderly people. Also the unit manager priorities, past experience, number of years as a professional and their views about elderly people’s depression are factors that affect the unit manager work. The unit manager views on its way to approach the prevention of depression, the political guidelines and decisions have impact on the way the unit manager work to prevent depression among elderly people in the residential home.

Varför just nu? : En kvalitativ studie av ett hälsoprojekt

Johansson, Marcus, Öjhage, Patrik, Amnell, Martin January 2010 (has links)

Bohm, Elisabet January 2012 (has links)
The present paper deals with unit managers trust for care staff in home care from a unit manager's perspective. Since trust is a concept that may vary depending on the area under study, defined the essay examination to cover the unit managers' confidence in the existence of social care staff who steal in the homes of patients. Care Personals thefts of users of home care is an unexplored area, the only thing that can certainly be said is that it exists. Therefore, the paper aims to examine how the unit managers' confidence image and control measures appear to have confidence in the existence of theft. The theories used for the analysis is Uslaner´s theory of moral and strategic trust and Luhmann´s theoretical functional analysis of trust as well as Cohen’s and Felson´s routine activity theory. The results show that the unit managers believe that their confidence in social care staff are essential to home care business to work. While the results show that the control unit managers are using is not adequate to protect the user from theft, so continued research on how this protection could look like is recommended.
