No. of bitstreams: 1 Evandro Morais Peixoto.pdf: 1971890 bytes, checksum: aa3ca46eafe7db3c33a633eabf6bea92 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-12-18 / Ever since the effective introduction of psychology professionals into sporting teams, they have encountered demands to evaluate the subjects involved in this area, particularly athletes. Accordingly, the need for these professionals to avail themselves of psychological evaluation tools that are capable of assisting them in this task, has become increasingly imperative. However, the lack of valid tools imposes significant limitations on these professionals. This lack is, at the same time, a challenge to psychology as well as a field of investigation that is still open to researchers in this area. In the 1970s, a scale was developed in Brazil by Ryad Simon, known as the Operational Adaptive Diagnostic Scale (EDAO), to evaluate adaptive efficiency. It is based on the concept that adaptive efficiency represents the ability of a subject to cope with life s trials and tribulations. Data on the subject are obtained by way of a clinical interview. The EDAO has already proved to be valid for different strata of the clinical and non-clinical population. A self-report version, to evaluate the effectiveness of adaptation of patients in community clinics, is under development and has been provisionally assigned the acronym EDAO-AR. This study proposes the development of a version of the EDAO-AR for the evaluation of athletes, as well as examining some of its proof of validity. The study has evolved in two stages: a) adaptation of the EDAO-AR and the construction of new items; analysis of content by (specialist) judges; and a semantic analysis of the items by athletes in different sports and with different levels of schooling; b) estimate of the internal consistency of the items, distributed by factor and for the scale as a whole, evaluated using Cronbach s alpha coefficient; the MSA and KMO indices were also evaluated and finally, the dimensionality of the scales was checked by means of exploratory factorial analysis. The sample comprised 219 athletes from the following categories of sport: Athletics, Basketball, Indoor Soccer, Swimming, Rugby and Volleyball, enrolled in their respective federations in the youth and adult categories. Assuming that the adaptation of the subjects is examined based on the suitability demonstrated in the Affection-Relation (AR) and Productivity (Pr) sectors, the items were built and evaluated separately, each set of items being regarded as a different tool. The final scale was made up of 41 items, 19 for the evaluation of the AR sector and 22 for the evaluation of Pr. The results show that the AR scale and the Pr scale both evaluate the quality of adaptation in accordance with three dimensions: Self-control, Interpersonal relationships and Coping. It is suggested that there is a need to develop new items for the AR scale in order to achieve higher indices of internal consistency for the overall scale, as well as for the respective factors. Finally, the need to use both the scales in the evaluation of the adaptive configuration of athletes should be stressed.

No. of bitstreams: 1 OLIVEIRA_Gustavo_2016.pdf: 86397741 bytes, checksum: 5fd2cb2fc874df1b8fd8daa0139f9f6d (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-04-27 / Não recebi financiamento / Over the last decade, sustainability reporting have gained prominence as a growing practice among organizations around the world, accompanied by the increased popularity and adoption of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework. This has opened space for studies on the disclosure practices of organizations, resulting in the creation of evaluation methodologies for sustainability reports generally focused on the detail level of the information disclosed. As the GRI guidelines are now the main reference for the preparation of such reports and from January 2016 onwards his fourth generation is mandatory, an appropriate methodology is necessary. Mainly considering a focus hitherto despised, as the compliance with the GRI framework and the reporting of meaningful content to the stakeholders, which can be a good representative of the disclosure practices and performance of the organization towards sustainability. Thus, the study aims to propose an evaluation tool for sustainability reports according to GRI G4 guidelines, in addition the study also seeks to clarify how the GRI framework is being used by organizations, to identify the methodological weaknesses of the other evaluation methods and to analyze the performance of various organizations in the new tool. Through a Systematic Literature Review, the main evaluation methods were raised and, after analysis, the methodological weaknesses have been identified. Then, we first tried to explain how the GRI framework is being used to monitor and report on organizational sustainable practices. Hence, it was analyzed GRI reports of the automotive sector published between 2010 and 2014. Thirteen reports at national level and 76 reports globally were analyzed. After, a questionnaire was applied to researchers from around the world on issues related to evaluation, reports and sustainability, and the results were used to determine the weight of the GRI elements using the Mudge diagram. Therefore, a quick and easy to use evaluation method based on GRI guidelines has been developed and applied for all the 89 analyzed reports. Additionally, the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient and direct comparatives were conducted to identify behavioral patterns in sustainability reporting. The research brings contributions both to the academic area, such as the identification of errors in the reports currently released and present weaknesses in the existing assessment methodologies; and to practice area, once the sustainability report assessment tool is pratical and useful to organizations, stakeholders and the GRI itself.

Evaluation cognitive de la lecture chez le collégien : Elaboration d'un outil diagnostique / Cognitive assessment of reading in middle school students : Development of a diagnostic tool

Pourcin, Laure 11 December 2014 (has links)
The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the reading and reading-related skills of French middle school students (Grades 6 to 9). The first objective was to identify the capacity involved in reading comprehension at the middle school level. In the first grades (Grades 6 and 7), the results show that reading comprehension skills are largely predicted by listening comprehension, morphological awareness, and irregular word reading, but not pseudoword reading skills, whatever the measure (accuracy or time). This latter result is found in the higher grades (Grades 8 and 9) in which irregular word reading has no impact on reading comprehension, again regardless of the measure. The second objective was to develop a diagnostic evaluation tool for word-level reading and reading-related skills in middle school students. The examination of word-level reading skills at middle school showed significant effects of both regularity and lexicality, whatever the measure and independently of grade. The effect of length depends on lexicality: long pseudowords are read less accurately and more slowly than short ones, whereas long irregular words are read as well as short ones. Reading level (assessed by a French "gold standard" test) is mainly predicted by pseudoword reading skills, and also by phonemic awareness, for response times. The consistent structure (validity) of the tool is verified using a new statistical method: hierarchical classification of variables. The overall results underline the importance of considering response times in addition to accuracy in all assessments.

Objectives: The main objective of this work is to evaluate university teaching according to the students´ view and, especially, to observe this evaluation reliability and to identity characteristics; personal and technical behavior of a good teacher . Casuistics and Method: A total of 43 students from the second grade of UNORP Psychology course in the year of 2005, and 25 professors of this course participated in the study. The choice for the group and professor to answer the questionnaire was made by draw. Descriptive method and a mixed model of quantitative and qualitative evaluation were used. The questionnaires were based on GRIDS Program, adapted to the setting where the investigation was performed. The questionnaires were self-applied for the students in the classroom without the presence of the researcher. The professors received them, answering and sending them freely later. Results: All the questions that have comprised the used instrument were considered relevant. The selfevaluation was coherent with the evaluation performed by the students. The teacher's evaluation by the students demonstrated to be well-defined and reliable. Conclusions: The characteristics of a good professor could be identified based on the questions such as the ability to transmit the objectives xi of the subject taught, their ability to organize the classes, to point out the relevance of the contents, constant updating, respectful and nice relationship, stimulus to questioning and inference formulation, to be on time and be diligent, coherence in learning evaluation and flexibility and opening to dialogue, competence, general culture, humility and availability to deal with the students, employees and friends. At last, this tool discusses the opinion of the professors and the students .about the students´ ability in evaluating adequately the professors. While 90% of the students have believed in their correct evaluation, only 69% of the professors have had similar opinion. The professor´ s selfevaluation was compared with the students´, and the results were considered very similar, suggesting a high index of congruence in the perception of both. Further studies with a greater number of professors could be performed to corroborate this research data.

Well-Being and Ethnic Identity Promotion for Aboriginal Youth: A Community Based Mixed Methods Study of Tribal Journeys

Smethurst, Tania 29 April 2013 (has links)
There are significant mental health disparities in Aboriginal communities in Canada as a result of historical assimilation policies (Health Canada, 2012). One approach to mitigating these mental health concerns is through prevention programs that include a wilderness component. Wilderness based programs for Aboriginal youth are informed by cultural wisdom and empirical research that connects immersion in nature with psychological well-being. The goal of this study was to collaborate with two community partners (Nala Winds canoe family from the Heiltsuk First Nation, and Victoria Native Friendship Centre) to develop an evaluation tool that will satisfy mainstream funding standards as well as community, cultural standards. This tool-kit was designed to reflect the youth experience and mental health consequences of Tribal Journeys, an annual canoe journey program for Coastal First Nations peoples. The findings were shared with community partners and may be helpful in facilitating the creation, maintenance, and evaluation of other Aboriginal youth programs. / Graduate / 0620 / 0347 / 0621 / tansmethurst@gmail.com

Examining the need for parental satisfaction with the MSU Extension Equine Assisted Therapy Program

Kiker, Ashlyn Ann 10 December 2021 (has links)
Animal assisted interventions are becoming more prevalent in our society. Animal interventions have become a popular therapy technique that exist to aid a variety of disabilities. Equine therapeutic riding has become one of the most popular forms of animal assisted therapy for both children and adults. While research shows the importance and benefits of animal assisted therapy for children, there is a lack of research concerning parental satisfaction within therapeutic riding programs. This study tested a newly developed instrument for measuring parental satisfaction for therapeutic riding programs. The Parent/Caregiver Evaluation Tool (Kerr, 2021) was administered to parents/caregivers whose children participated at the North Dakota State University Bison Strides Riding Program to determine the instrument’s reliability. Secondly, the instrument was administered the parents/caregivers of the MSU Equine Assisted Therapeutic Riding Program. It was found that parents/caregivers were satisfied with the program, but there were some recommendations given.

Cybersecurity in the Technology Subject from the Swedish Perspective : Investigation, Analysis, and Evaluation Tool / Cybersäkerhet i teknikämnet från det svenska perspektivet : Undersökning, analys och utvärderingsverktyg

Mushtaq, Wafaa January 2020 (has links)
This thesis contains pioneer work in Sweden which contributes to the research on cybersecurity teaching within the Technology subject as formulated in the course and subject governing documents. The work goes in line with a bigger strategy of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) and the European Union (EU). A discourse analysis was performed on the interviews with four Swedish expertsfrom MSB, Internetstiftelsen, and #290CyberSecurity respectively where the interview questions were formulated around three axes; the first axis was the cybersecurity content and knowledge aimed at young individuals, the second axis was the experts’ views on teaching cybersecurity starting from lower secondary schools, and the third axis was regarding platforms or tools that could be used in cybersecurity teaching and what the experts’ perceptions on them are. The analysis resulted in six different codes and formulated the views of the experts. Content analysis was also performed on information from the experts’ organizations which were 14 security documents and reports in total that resulted in a content frame of ten cybersecurity areas. All the ten areas were found to be related to the keywords that appear in the governing documents of the Technology subjects in the course syllabus for grades 7-9 and the subject syllabus for Technology 1. Current cyber attacks and risks threatening young students were further analyzed under each area to narrow down the content frame tailoring it to young students. A new online evaluation tool was then developed to assess the cybersecurity sensibility of the young students. The formulation of the questions was inspired by the SANS cybersecurity awareness survey as well as based on both, the ten cybersecurity areas that are categorized in this thesis and the different scenarios of risks and cybersecurity attacks threatening young students. Domain SamplingTheory (DST) and scenario-based questions were considered to make the tool more fitting for the young and minimize the errors. The tool tested a random group of 250 students from 12 municipalities where110 were in the sixth grade and 140 in the ninth. The tool showed that despite students spending most of their time online using different devices and applications, they are not secure enough which puts them at risk. Moreover, most of the students were interested in getting cybersecurity education and very few received it in schools even though the cybersecurity requirements are stated in the governing documents of the Technology subject.
