Elevers läsvanor : Vad motiverar elever i årskurs 6 till läsning?

Andersson, Filippa, Åkesson, Anna January 2013 (has links)
Sammanlagt intervjuades 14 elever i årskurs 6.

Facklitterära tecknade serier på folkbibliotek / Nonfiction graphic novels in public libraries

Coccomo, Jennifer, Sandberg, Josefin January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this Bachelor's thesis is to study the reasoning behind classification, cataloging and shelf arrangement of nonfiction graphic novels in public libraries. The aim was to examine which aspects of accessibility influence in which collection nonfiction graphic novels are placed. With qualitative semi-structured interviews we learned how six librarians motivated their choices concerning nonfiction graphic novels. We also interviewed a cataloger from Bibliotekstjänst to examine how nonfiction graphic novels are classified. In our analysis we compared our results to theories and practices concerning alternative shelf arrangements in libraries and legitimization of graphic novels. We found three types of shelf arrangements for nonfiction graphic novels: graphic novel shelf, nonfiction classification code and a mix of the two. The reasoning behind these placements can be described in three themes: user perspective, library perspective or document perspective. The arrangements and themes are influenced by which users the librarians believe to be reading nonfiction graphic novels and which type of subject the document concerns. Our results showed that according to the cataloger the subject of a nonfiction graphic novel is classified by the text and not by drawings, which are seen as difficult to discern as nonfiction. An important aspect of cataloging is that the document is searchable, and in order to search nonfiction graphic novels by both subject matter and format a notation for graphic novels has been added. However it is possible that an advanced search is necessary, which can be difficult for inexperienced users. / Program: Bibliotekarie

Olsson, Joakim January 2014 (has links)
The present study is primarily of historiographical type, but also uses comparative method and qualitative text analysis. It mainly aims to explore how Germany and the issue of guilt have been portrayed in Swedish and German nonfiction literature (excluding teaching materials) during the years 1996-2010, in the context of the Holocaust, but also makes a comparison between these two countries' depictions. Furthermore, it also examines whether it is possible to link the various depictions to specific theories, in this case determinism together with the actor and structural perspectives, as well as to other potential factors such as the authors' personal connections to the Holocaust or the millennium. In addition, overall trends is an aspect which is examined. Despite the fact that the Holocaust has been the subject of extensive research, no study with the same selection as this one has been carried out before. Previous research presented in the essay therefore has a more general character. The purely historiographical part of the essay shows that the German people are depicted as both perpetrators and victims, but also that Hitler, the SS and the Nazis always have to carry the heaviest burden when it comes to guilt. Furthermore, so-called “passive actors”, in Swedish as well as German literature, endures a lot of criticism for the way they acted during the Holocaust. In addition, both the actor and structural perspectives are used by all authors in various degrees, while determinism only is discernible in a few cases. The comparison, in turn, indicates that it is usually only minor details that distinguish the Swedish and German authors' depictions. The obvious subjectivity of the subject leads to questions regarding how factual one really can be when writing about such a delicate field as the Holocaust. Why the authors depict the Holocaust in the way they do, is therefore an issue which future researchers may try to answer.

"Skönlitteratur är hittepå" : En litteratursociologisk analys av en debatt om skönlitteratur 2016

Jansson, Emmy January 2017 (has links)

: a research review about children’s and adults’ views of children’s nonfiction

Fransson, Åsa January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this research review is to map research about how children relate to nonfiction, and how adults, represented by parents, librarians and teachers, relate to children’s nonfiction and its possible purposes, and also the similarities and differences between them, according to current research.A theory of three different ways to look at reading is applied to the material concerning adults’ views of children’s nonfiction. To show children’s views, themes are extracted from the research material, using an analysis model of four different ways to read.Studies show that most children as well as adults perceive children’s nonfiction in a traditional way as a means to gain knowledge and facts, and primarily related to school work.Nonfiction can also help children with reading difficulties to practise reading, by stimulating their interests. Many children read nonfiction because they prefer to read ”real stories” about actual people and events. Nonfiction can also help children find and strengthen their identity. Some children simply read nonfiction for fun and pleasure, in the same way others read fiction. Most librarians and teachers see nonfiction as a way for the children to gain knowledge, practise reading skills or source criticism. Some also see future benefits for the child as an individual or a member of the society. There are few research studies about children’s nonfiction, and parents’ views are also poorly represented in these studies. / Program: Bibliotekarie

Facklitteratur för barn : ett försök till analysmodell / Non-fiction for children : an attempt to create an analysis model

Lindberg, Annakarin January 2002 (has links)
This thesis is about how to criticize the large number of non-fiction for children which is published nowadays. I have noticed that both librarians and teachers do not know what perspective to apply with regard to this category of books. There are some good ones, but also a lot of bad ones and some really bad ones. The purpose of this essay is to search by means of criteria from history of art, history of literature – principally history of children's literature – and pedagogy, for prevalent attitudes towards non-fiction for children. The conceptions and discussions result in an analysis model which is applied to four non-fiction books for children. The focus of the essay is on the non-fiction book as an artistic and pedagogical product.

Selection of non-fiction literature : A comparative literature study of collection development of non-fiction literature at public libraries.

Barnholdt, Magnus January 2007 (has links)
The aim of this study is to investigate methods of collection development, the users’ influence on selection and quality aspects, focusing on non-fiction literature in Swedish public libraries. To find out opinions of collection development, I use the method comparative literature study. Antonio Gramsci’s concept hegemony forms the theoretical background, and hegemony as concept is related to a library context by using Maj Klasson’s text on the librarians’ different positions of authorities. The focus of the study is therefore on the librarian’s position as authority, in contrast to the users’ position, regarding selection of non-fiction literature. A short historical review leads to the factors influencing collection development today. Swedish library policy documents, the Swedish library constitution, Unesco’s public library manifesto are some of the formal factors influencing collection development at Swedish public libraries. The analysis consists of three macro themes found while reading the empirical texts: collection development, quality aspects and users. These macro themes are divided into micro themes in order to analyse the chosen empirical texts. The result of the study shows a difference in authority between librarians and users regarding collection development, the complexity of non-fiction literature and the users’ influence on literature selection. These authority differences is expressed in the texts as whether the librarians or the users are considered as the authority, and why, in developing methods for literature selection. Concerning quality aspects, a difference was found between the texts, since one of them acknowledges the users as the most important reference to select quality literature, and not the librarians.

The information behavior of nonfiction publishing Company editors

Sandquist, Carina January 2010 (has links)
The main purpose of this work was to examine the information behavior of nonfiction publishing Company editors. Three problem areas were presented and expressed in the following questions:- What is the information need of the editor in every day work?- Which sources of information do the editors use when they are looking for information and how do they make use of them?- Are there any factors that have an influence on the information behavior of the editors and in what way do the factors effect the information behavior of the editors in their everyday work? And finally, do the editors experience any factors as barriers to information behavior?Six editors, all with academical background, all employed in different publishing companies were interviewed. The result of this study have been analysed within a theoretical framework influenced by the work of Tom Wilson, Lars Höglund and Olle Persson and Block and Lagberg. The result shows that the editors had various regular needs of information in their every day work. They needed new information to get a grip on the market and competitors. Furthermore they needed inspiration and feed-back. They also needed information to confirm and explain tasks in manuscripts. It was important for the editors to have quick access to reliable information sources. Therefore the use of oral information from colleagues both face-to-face through interpersonal communication and through the Internet was frequently used. Internet was a very important tool for their information seeking and collection of information. The private collection of books of the editors was important. I found that non-word oriented sources such as pictures and the daily use of books influenced their information behavior. The editors often browsed information haphazardly, which generated finding information by serendipity, information to use in their work. Factors influencing the information behaviour of editors were the organisation, work tasks, geographical environment and personal interests and preferences. Barriers to information were also found.

: Gallring av tryckta böcker och dess konsekvenser för bokbestånd vid folkbibliotek / “... it is much easier to talk about what’s more difficult.” : Weeding of printed books, and its consequences for stock of books at public libraries

Holstenson, Björn January 2010 (has links)
The aim of this study is to illustrate conceptions held by librarians and library and information scientists about weeding practices of printed books in public libraries. The study has been carried out by performing a series of qualitative interviews with librarians and by study of earlier research relating to the subject of weeding. The results have been analysed by utilizing a textual analysis method called idea and ideology analysis using so called dimensions to analyse and structure the results. The results indicate that weeding at Swedish public libraries is carried out by a mixture of objective and subjective methods, with certain statistical elements. Weeding procedures mainly appears to be legitimized according to what one refers to as knowledge of the local community, although lack of lending are cited from time to time. Weeding is attributed with aesthetic, as well as renewing and instrumental functions, yet a certain emphasis can be discerned towards the renewing function in connection with nonfiction while the other two functions are mainly related to the stock as a whole. Librarians appear to identify considerably more difficulties than possibilities that weeding potentially can bring about. These mainly appear to dwell upon how weeding affect the mixture of fiction in the collections.
