Este empenho dissertativo objetiva apresentar elementos etnográficos e de análise etnológica e antropológica acerca de substâncias cosmopolíticas e de espaço a respeito de interlocutores kaingang no Sul do Brasil Meridional. A partir de uma etnografia de "pontos-fronteiras", as percepções contemplam também uma reflexão quanto a elementos diacríticos não-indígenas presente na conjuntura das situações de contato entre kaingang e não-kaingang, ou não-indígenas. Esses elementos referem-se, principalmente, às constituições de horizontes imaginativos não-indígenas etnocidas a partir de perspectivas neocoloniais. A partir deste modelo narrativo, buscou-se mapear as espacialidades e territorialidades de uma ambiência kaingang entre elementos de uma guerra relacional e de agências cosmopolíticas no limiar de "mundos kaingang" e "mundos não-kaingang", ou "não-indígenas". / This dissertation aims to show ethnographic elements as well as ethnological and anthropological analysis about spatial and cosmopolitics substances concerning to kaingang speakers in the South of Southern Brazil (Brasil Meridional). The dissertation starts from the premise that we are living in an increasingly individualistic and secular society. The church is seen as a worshipping community, where mutual care emanating from true Christian community could serve as a corrective to current fragmentation. A theory is developed of the church as a caring and worshipping faith community which exists alongside other communities. The church therefore exists to enable people to embody the gospel ideals in their lives. The whole Christian community must thus be seen to be offering the love, compassion and acceptance that is needed today. This role can be enhanced by encouraging training in caring skills. The faith community exercises its nurturing support system through the fusion of horizons as members seek to give expression to their faith. This work concerns the research and application of data visualization techniques to depict ongoing activities in mankind’s investigation of space as part of a larger open-source visualization- and science-outreach software known as OpenSpace. It involves the construction of a physically accurate virtual environment of our local star group and solar system so as to facilitate development of a robust and generalized solution capable of articulating mission-science to its viewers. The research part is focused on deploying data visualization methods suitable for contextualizing scientific findings towards the general public in a pedagogical manner, with the end goal to provide a fully operational New Horizons visualization on the day of encounter with Pluto for the first public broadcast of OpenSpace across the globe.

The subject of study of this thesis is the Kerr-Newman-(anti-)de Sitter space- time, a rotating and charged exact black-hole solution of the Einstein-Maxwell equations with a non-zero cosmological constant. In the first part of the thesis we examine admissible extremal configurations, present the corresponding Penrose diagrams, and investigate the effects of frame-dragging. In the second part, we follow the motion of charged particles via the Lagrangian formalism, focusing on the equatorial plane and the axis where we arrived at some analytic results con- cerning the trajectories. Static particles, effective potentials and - in the case of the equatorial plane - stationary circular orbits are examined. We also perform numerical simulations of particle motion to be able to check our analytic results and also to foster our intuition regarding the behaviour of the test particles. The last part concerns quantum tunnelling of particles through the space-time's hori- zons, specifically the null geodesic method. The main goal of these computations is to obtain horizon temperatures, in which we succeed up to a constant multi- plicative factor. We discuss various pitfalls of the method and stake out a possible approach when applying it to the extreme horizons present in KN(a)dS. 1

The aim of the thesis was to analyze soil microbial communities of three ecologically different locations, about 25 years old, forestry reclaimed dumps in the Republic of Poland, namely dumps of brown coal mine Bełchatów and sand mines Piaseczno and Szczakowa. I evaluated the degree of dependence of structure and composition of these communities on various substrate grain sizes and the influence of the dominant tree species. These were stands of birch (Betula pendula), pine (Pinus silvestris), oak (Quercus robur) and alder (Alnus glutinosa). Analysis of soil microbial communities was made by evaluating specific phospholipid fatty acids (PLFA) of microorganisms. It is the most appropriate way to implement the relatively rapid analysis of large numbers of samples, since PLFA are easily extractable and act as biomarkers indicating the presence of a number of different microorganisms (fungi, G- and G + bacteria, Actinobacteria, etc.) and thus allowing a qualitative and quantitative assessment of whole microbial communities. PLFA analysis enables to detect a total concentration of PLFA only in living soil microbial biomass. I analyzed 66 soil samples, 33 from an Oe layer and 33 from an A layer, every in three replications, i.e. three replications were collected at each location below each tree...

Many students change their choice of secondary school programme or fail to complete their studies which results in a great cost to society or personal costs for the student. The purpose is to examine the experiences of two groups of upper secondary school students regarding their choice of upper secondary school programme. The questions we wanted answers to were: what influenced the student’s choice of study, what support did the students receive from comprehensive school and what might have caused them to choose another programme. The study was carried out in two focus groups where one of the groups was made up of students who had chosen the “right” programme and the other made up of students who had chosen the “wrong” programme. One thing that influenced the student’s choice of upper secondary school programme was whether or not the programme provided eligibility to higher studies which they had heard from primary school and parents was a choice that would give them many possibilities in the future. It appeared that there had not been much of a guidance process for developing career management skills which could have given the students support in reflecting over their transition to upper secondary school. The students’ interests and the parents and people near the students influenced the students’ choices. The study shows that students needed a longer guidance process and a clearer understanding of its purpose. Narrow and wide guidance varied depending on a student’s comprehensive school. They would have needed a better description of the consequences such as what study demands were required for the programme and what moving or commuting would mean in practice.

AFRIKAANS: Hierdie studie is onderneem om 'n biografie daar te stel van dominee Kálmán Papp II, predikant van die Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk van Afrika (sedert 1951) en stamvader van die familie Papp in Suid-Afrika. Daar sal uiteraard ook gekyk word na sy teologiese posisie as predikant en verkondiger van die Evangelie van die Here, Jesus Christus. Die studie val uiteen in vier hoofstukke. Die eerste hoofstuk skets die agtergronde waaruit Papp afkomstig is. Die geskiedenis, land en taal van die Hongaarse volk kom eerste aan die orde, vervolgens die geskiedenis van die Christendom en die geskiedenis en etos van die Hervormde Kerk van Hongarye, en laastens Papp se genealogiese agtergrond. Die tweede hoofstuk van hierdie studie beskryf Papp se kinder- en studentejare in Hongarye (1924-1946): sy geboorte en opwindende kleuter- en laerskooljare in Mándok, sy vaderlose hoërskooljare aan die Lévai Jószef Hervormde Gimnasium in Miskolc, sy bedrywige studentejare aan die Graaf Tissza István Universiteit in Debrecen, sy aangrypende ervarings tydens die Tweede Wêreldoorlog, en sy vertrek na Nederland vir nagraadse studie. In die derde hoofstuk word Papp se verblyf in Nederland en sy studie van bykans twee jaar (1947-1949) aan die Universiteit van Utrecht beskryf, asook sy noodgedwonge emigrasie na Suid-Afrika. ENGLISH: The purpose of this study has been to compile a biography of the Reverend Kálmán Papp II, minister of the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk van Afrika (since 1951) and progenitor of the Papp family in South Africa. Naturally his theological position as minister and preacher of the gospel of the Lord, Jesus Christ, will be looked at. The study consists of four chapters. In the first chapter, which deals with Papp's historical backgrounds, the history, land and language of the Hungarian nation, the history and ethos of the Reformed Church of Hungary, and the history of Papp's forefathers, with specific reference to the ministers of religion, are dealt with briefly. In more detail, the second chapter describes Papp's childhood and student years in Hungary (1924-1946): his exciting toddler and primary school years in Mándok, his fatherless high school years at the Lévai Jószef Gymnasium in Miskolc, his bustling student years at the Count Tissza István University of Debrecen, his gripping experiences during World War II, and his departure to the Netherlands for post graduate study. Papp's residence in the Netherlands, his two years at the University of Utrecht (1947-1949) and his hasty emigration to South Africa, are dealt with in chapter three. In the last chapter of this study, which consists of six sections, Papp’s interesting course of life in South Africa (1949-2008) is described. His arrival and settling in South Africa, student years at the University of Pretoria, admission to the ministry, temporary service as a candidate minister, and his marriage, are described in the first four sections. The fifth section deals with Papp's ministry of forty uninterrupted years in the Krugersdorp congregation of the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk (1951-1991). This section forms the main part of this study and is subdivided into four subsections, each covering a period of approximately one decade. The first subsection covers Papp's reception in the congregation, the short but fulfilling period of his first joint ministry, his first publications and public appearances, the birth of his children, the formation of two new congregations (Magaliesburg in 1953 and Krugersdorp-Oos in 1954), his dedicated involvement in synodical activities of the church, unselfish assistance and support to the Hungarian refugees of 1956, the loyalty portrayed in his involvement in the cultural life of Krugersdorp, his diligent promotion of ecumenical relations and his part in the seventieth anniversary of the Krugersdorp congregation. The second subsection describes Papp's sympathetic involvement with the Jac van Belkum orphanage in Krugersdorp, the period of an unhappy second joint ministry in the congregation, the compelled forming in 1964 of a third new congregation (Krugersdorp-Noord) Papp's strong and enthusiastic guidance in the building of a new parsonage and the transformation of an old abattoir into a church hall, as well as the celebration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of his congregation. In the third subsection Papp's intense involvement in the community life of Krugersdorp, more specifically with the Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital and Burgershoop Primary School, and his zealous work in the church's Outjo congregation in the former South West Africa are dealt with. Then there are also referred to the celebration of his twenty-fifth year in the ministry and the ordination of two of his sons and his daughter in law. The fourth subsection covers the birth of Papp's first grandchildren, his active involvement in the Bible Festival of 1983, and the reception and accommodation of various family members, guests and visitors from abroad. Several high lights of his life are also described in this section: his amnesty, the centenary celebrations of his congregation, which coincided with his retirement, and the publication of his album on the history of the Krugersdorp congregation. However, several set backs in Papp's life are also described in this section - the personal problems of his children, the failure of the marriages of both of his sons in ministry and the passing away of various family members and friends. The last section of this study describes Papp's seventeen years after retirement (1992-2008) - years in which several high lights and set backs occurred. Amongst the high lights were Papp's prominent part in the Day of the Covenant celebrations at Paardekraal, the acknowledgement of his service to the community of Krugersdorp, the re-admission of his eldest son and daughter in law into the ministry, three trips to Hungary, the celebration of his eightieth birthday, his fiftieth wedding anniversary and his fiftieth year in office as a church minister, and last but not the least, the conferment of a honorary professorate. Amongst the set backs were several illnesses and surgeries, and worst of all, the tragic death of his third son. This thesis investigates the relation between the day-ahead electricity market prices and the electricity production in the Nordic synchronous area of the European electric power system by looking into the market data ranging from 2015 to the current time. The increasing penetration of variable renewable energy sources, coupled with the deeper electrification in various sectors of the economy, has led to a higher volatility in the market, e.g. in the market prices. Since all power plant owners plan their production depending on prices, price forecasts, availability, it is necessary to better understand the relation between price signals and the production variations. Firstly, balancing contributions, considered as a suitable tool, are found unfit to apply to this research. Secondly, spectral analysis is used to highlight frequencies in the signals, leading to the determination of three time scales of variations: daily, two-weekly and yearly. It is used to define three timehorizons which are used to apply different mathematical tools on the market data. Thirdly, the correlation coefficient between a type of production and the day-ahead prices assesses the linearity of their respective variations. Lastly, the relative market value of the production gives insight into the , e.g. with regard to flexibility. Results of this research show that the correlation between the day-ahead prices and the production depends on the time-horizon, the production type, as well as the area. E.g., if SE2’s and SE1’s hydro production are highly correlated to prices in the daily and two-weekly patterns, the former has not enough storage to follow prices on the yearly horizon, while the latter can, due to its bigger reservoirs. Results also show that wind power is one of the drivers of the day-ahead prices, especially in the two-weekly time horizon. The increasing share of wind power will hence lead in more price variations as well as lower average price levels.. This study aims to provide insights to the plant owners with flexibility possibility on how to face those future challenges. / Detta examensarbete undersöker sambandet mellan day-ahead-priser på elmarknaden och elproduktion i den nordiska synkrona delen av det europeiska elsystemet. Analysen bygger på data mellan 2015 och maj 2021. I och med att andelen väderberoende förnybara energikällor ökar samtidigt som olika sektorer elektrifieras har elmarknaden och elpriserna blivit mer volatila. Den volatiliteten behöver elproducenter förhålla sig till när de planerar sin produktion beroende på elpriser, elprisprognoser, tillgänglighet m.m. och därför är det avgörande att belysa förhållandet mellan prissignaler och anpassning av produktionsnivåer. Arbetet inkluderar olika steg: Först undersöktes balansbidrag och det kunde visas att detta mått inte lämpar sig för att beskriva sambandet mellan produktion och elpriser. Sedan gjordes en spektralanalys för att identifiera de grundläggande variationerna: dygns-, tvåveckors- och årsvariationer. Baserad på dem specificerades tre tidshorisonter som olika matematiska mått utvärderas på. Ett sådant mått är korrelationskoefficienter som användes för att beskriva sambandet mellan produktionsdata per kraftslag och elpriser på ett linjärt sätt. Slutligen användes relativa marknadsvärden på samma sätt för att kunna undersöka olika kraftslags karakteristik och få inblick i deras flexibilitet samt körsättet. Resultaten visar att korrelationen mellan day-ahead-priser och produktion beror påtidshorisonten, kraftslag och prisområde. Till exempel är vattenkraften i norra Sverige (SE1 och SE2) starkt korrelerad med elpriserna på dyngs- och tvåveckorsnivå medan korrelationen på årsnivå är starkare för SE1 eftersom vattenmagasin i SE1 har större reglerutrymme på den långa tidshorisonten än magasinen i SE2. Resultaten visar dessutom att vindkraften är den drivande faktorn för elprisvariationerna, särskilt när det gäller tvåveckorshorisonten. Vindkraften kommer öka prisvariationerna och samtidigt sänka prisnivån. Målet med examensarbetet är att få mer inblick i kraftslagens flexibilitet och därmed öka förståelsen för framtida utmaningar.
