Intranätets roll i organisationskommunikation : En fallstudie på Cibes Lift Group AB

Ljunggren, Sofia January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate how employees at Cibes Lift Group ABperceive the organization's intranet as an information and communication channel. The study examines employees' perception of the intranet, the information value of the intranet and whether employees perceive that their tasks affect the perception of the intranet. To study this, a survey was conducted in which 36 respondents participated, the survey shows that employees at Cibe's are generally satisfied with the intranet but thatcertain types of information are missing. Employees state that they like the layout andfunctions of the intranet and that the search for information has made it easier. These factors have contributed to a greater general knowledge of the company and more peopleare taking part in the news on the intranet. The study was conducted based on the theoriesInformation Management, Communicative Action and Communication Value Circle. The scientific value of the study has changed, as a group of potential respondents did notparticipate in the study; those who work in production. Which is a valuable result, whydo they not choose to participate in the survey?

To keep informed and up-to-date as a children’s librarian : an interview study

Abrahamsson, Mikael, Bergan, Isabella January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to develop a deeper understanding of children’s librarians and their work related information practice, more specifically on how they stay informed and updated in their professional role. The empirical material was collected through six semi structured interviews with children’s librarians from different public libraries in Sweden. The material was then analysed with Bates (2002) model of different modes of information seeking. The results showed that the children’s librarians' work consisted of a wide variety of tasks which influenced their information seeking practice and consequently had to cover a wide spectrum of areas. The respondents further described how their work with library activities directed to children affected their information seeking as they needed varying forms of information to support the development and implementation of these activities. The most central information sources that the respondents seemed to turn to in order to stay updated were networks, colleagues, their target group (children), the library collection, other organizations, other professions who also worked with children and the internet. The main modes of information seeking that the children’s librarians’ seemed to use to stay informed was ‘Searching’ and ‘Monitoring’. These are the most directed information seeking modes that are included in Bates (2002) model. The information seeking was further identified as an ongoing activity that was integrated with other work tasks. Staying informed was often described as being driven by a personal interest which sometimes led to work related information seeking in the spare time.

An interview study with sports managers about their information need and how they search for information

Tobin, Elias January 2024 (has links)
The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to find out what kind of information need sports managers have and how they search for the information that they think will solve their need. No studies about sports managers’ information need has been made with a library- and information science perspective, but instead with a pedagogical or sports scientific perspective. Most of the previously published studies have been based on surveys and/or interviews. This study is no different with its data gathering method being semi-structured interviews. The interviews meant to answer the following questions: How do sports managers describe their information need? How do sports managers search for information to satisfy their information need? Using a directed content analysis, the transcribed interviews were analysed with two theoretical standing points: information need according to Höglund and Persson and information seeking according to Bates. With the term “information need” in this study being used as something a person feels when it lacks knowledge in an area has made the two terms “information need” and “knowledge” very interconnected. The result of this study shows a varied range of information needs described by the sports managers. Mentioned information needs were a need of tactical knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, mental knowledge, knowledge of how to be a leader, theoretical knowledge and no need at all. Sports managers tend to use personal contacts, the internet, videos such as broadcasts of previous competitions but also recorded lectures, books, scientific publications and coaching courses in their information seeking process.

The phone is right there, closest” : A study of how children seek information depending on whether the assignment derives from internal or external motivation

Flodström, Sara January 2023 (has links)
The aim of this study is to gain a better understanding of children’s tendencies when searching information, by exploring how their motivation and information searching capabilities are affected and shaped depending on whether the assignment derives from internal or external motivation. These tendencies will be analysed by examining what different tools the children use as well as how the information is gained. The empirical data was collected by semi-structured interviews with six pupils in grade six, in a Swedish school. The data was coded and analyzed using Ryan’s and Deci’s sub theory Organismic Integration Theory and Savolainen’s ELIS-model. The result of my study shows that children use varying tools depending on the situation. In school, they use their computers and the search engine Google. External factors regulate the devices used in school. During their free time they use their phones since they are easily accessible, and a greater variety of tools than they use in school. The children use distinct strategies to evaluate and contrast information; mostly in school but also during their free time. An elevated understanding of children’s motivation towards searching information could help school and society to support children and the younger generation in their search for information. They could be given help regarding what tools to use, and how to search, choose and evaluate information.

Externa informationskällor och spelares erfarenheter med dem i relation till MMORPGs / External information sources and players’ experiences with them in regard to MMORPGs

af Jochnick, Emil, Toivola, Wilma January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to achieve a deeper understanding of players’ information behavior in regard to MMORPGs’ external information sources. Despite MMORPGs being a popular recreational activity, and players of this genre of games demonstrating novel information search strategies, this is still an understudied aspect of LIS research. The empirical material was gathered by conducting five semi-structured interviews, and analyzed using a model based upon Harviainen and Savolainien’s (2014) theory of MMORPGs as information systems, along with Wilsons (1999) nested model for information-seeking and information search behaviour. The findings show that external information sources play an important role for players in the information infrastructure of MMORPGs as is also confirmed by previous research on this topic. Which information sources players choose to access is determined based on convenience, habits and the nature of the players information need. The players demonstrate differences in their information behavior depending on if they are less experienced or experienced players. Less experienced players prefer utilizing other players before utilizing external information sources, while experienced players prefer utilizing external information sources as their first option. The findings show that the MMORPG Warframe is also applicable in Harviainen and Savolainen’s (2014) theory of MMORPGs as information systems. The different types of information behaviors that a player can manifest during play seems to align with previous research on the subject.

Föräldrars upplevelser av sitt barns perioperativa process : En systematisk litteraturöversikt

Emanuelsson, Emma, Makslahti, Julia January 2023 (has links)

Clegg, Jessica January 2024 (has links)
Information behavior is a research field in library and information science concerned with how people seek, use and exchange information. This paper seeks to contribute to information behavior research in the domain of leisure, which has previously been explored to a lesser extent compared to academic and professional contexts. The purpose of this qualitative study is to examine the information behavior of hiking and outdoor life hobbyists. Two research questions are posed: 1) How do hiking and outdoor life hobbyists seek, use and exchange information in their hobby? 2) What information needs do hikers have and which sources of information do they use to fulfill these needs? The theoretical framework consists of sociologist Robert A. Stebbins’ (2009) Serious Leisure Perspective and Anders Hektor’s (2001) model of information behavior. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with six hiking and outdoor life hobbyists and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results show that the participants seek, use and exchange information in various ways in their hobby, such as searching and gathering information when planning hikes and exchanging information with fellow hiking and outdoor enthusiasts. Information needs include information about the terrain, information about locations, information about equipment and practical information such as information about accommodation and weather information. Important sources of information include websites, social media, blogs, magazines, books, other people, and maps. The conclusion is made that hiking and outdoor life can be viewed as serious leisure and that this particular hobby means considerable interaction with information.

Nurses in continuing education, their information needs and use of libraries : A user study.

Elmerstål, Britt-Mari January 2015 (has links)
This Master´s thesis is a user study of nurses participating in continuing education. The nurses graduated before 1993, when education to become a nurse changed in Sweden. Now they are studying for 40 credits in Nursing at a university in order to get the same level of education as a newly graduated nurse. They were also working as nurses when this study took place. The main purpose of the study is to increase the understanding of what kind of information the nurses think they need and to find out if and in what way they use libraries in their studies and in their work. The empirical material was collected by qualitative, semi-structured interviews with six nurses. To analyze the answers Kuhlthau´s model of information search process, Sundin´s concept of the symbolic value of professional information and Wilson´s concept of cognitive authority were used. The results of this study show that the nurses need course literature, scientific articles and help to search for information in databases. They all felt anxiety for not finding the right information exactly as Kuhlthau´s model shows. The nurses know it is important to keep updated with new information in their specialty in nursing and they know where to find the information. Professional information could help the nurses in their cooperation with other occupational groups, for example physicians. They all use libraries; to borrow books, find articles and also to use the librarian´s expertise in searching. They prefer to visit the medical library at their work and they appreciate the library staff´s knowledge.

Vad händer nu? Vad patienter önskar för information vid hjärtinfarkt

Johansson, Jenny, Razegh, Nazkhatun January 2013 (has links)

Föräldrar i fokus! A study of parents’ need of information and child librarians’ intentions concerning information meetings for parents

Holzhausen Henriksson, Fredrike, Klahr, Annica January 2004 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine present forms of interaction between Child Welfare Clinics (Barnavårdscentraler, BVC), and libraries. The study departs from the user’s perspective, i.e. how the parents evaluate the information they are given about the library and its resources to provide information they want in their present and new situation. In two local communities the survey looks into how parents of babies are informed about the library in meetings arranged as part of the information and support program provided by BVC. Methods used in the survey are interviews with librarians participating in information activities, and focus-group interviews with parents participating in BVC-groups meetings. The findings are related to other user studies connected to the ELlS-theory (Everyday Life Information Seeking). Results from the survey indicate that mothers do appreciate the information activities, and that the form of information group meetings often works well, in that more informed and regular library users give hints and advice to those not normally using the library. If information about the library and its information capability could be provided earlier during the pregnancy many mothers-in-waiting would use it to find information on the entirely new situation in life they find themselves in. / Uppsatsnivå: D
