Den uppsökande verksamheten vid Partille folkbibliotek / Extension work at Partille Public Library

Ekman, Eva January 1996 (has links)
The aim of this essay is to give a picture of the extension work at Partille Public Library, asit is today, as well as to investigate if there is a need to reconsider the way of working at thelibrary.Qualitative interviews have been made with the extensive librarians and certain local governmentpoliticians, borrowers and personnel at hospitals as well as other institutions. The extension work at Partille Public Library corresponds quite well to the intentions whichare stated for the work in certain important investigations made by the Government. Theborrowers and the personnel are quite satisfied with the work and are only pointing out a fewviews on changes. The politicians mean that the aim of the extension work of the library ison one hand to give service to certain more or less neglected groups and on the other handto reach new book readers.

Från krisen in i framtiden : uppsökande verksamhet för barn och ungdomar / From the crisis to the future : outreach services for children and youths

Gustavsson, Mikael, Gyllencreutz, Sara January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the outreach services for children and youths in a specific area, in this case Västra Götalandsregionen. In particular this thesis will examine the development in the outreach services for children and youths from 1990-2010. Our thesis will also examine if the financial crises affected the outreach services for children and youths, and how control documents influence the work of the librarians. This study is based on interviews, document and literature studies. For the analyses we used Torgil Persson’s theoretical model. We modernized Persson’s model so it would fit our study better. The results of our study showed us that the outreach services for children and youths don’t rely on control documents. The financial crises did affect the outreach services for children and youths, but the interviews gave us the information that the librarians didn’t really think it was because of the financial crises. We also found out that the outreach services for children and youths depend on changes in society. The document and literature studies showed us that libraries closed during the 1990s.

Föräldrar i fokus! En studie av småbarnsföräldrars informationsbehov och barnbibliotekariers intentioner med föräldraträffar / Parents in focus! A study of parents’ need of information and child librarians’ intentions concerning information meetings for parents

Holzhausen Henriksson, Fredrike, Klahr, Annica January 2004 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine present forms of interaction between Child Welfare Clinics (Barnavårdscentraler, BVC), and libraries. The study departs from the user’s perspective, i.e. how the parents evaluate the information they are given about the library and its resources to provide information they want in their present and new situation. In two local communities the survey looks into how parents of babies are informed about the library in meetings arranged as part of the information and support program provided by BVC. Methods used in the survey are interviews with librarians participating in information activities, and focus-group interviews with parents participating in BVC-groups meetings. The findings are related to other user studies connected to the ELlS-theory (Everyday Life Information Seeking). Results from the survey indicate that mothers do appreciate the information activities, and that the form of information group meetings often works well, in that more informed and regular library users give hints and advice to those not normally using the library. If information about the library and its information capability could be provided earlier during the pregnancy many mothers-in-waiting would use it to find information on the entirely new situation in life they find themselves in. / Uppsatsnivå: D

En BokNalle, vad är det? Att uppmuntra barn och föräldrar till språkstimulerande aktiviteter. / A Book Teddy, What´s that? To encourage children and parents to enjoy language-stimulating activities

Eckerman, Eva January 1996 (has links)
This thesis is about a language-stimulating activity, called the Book Teddy, which take placein Markaryd, a small municipality in southern Sweden. The activity is described and someexamples given of the Book Teddy's visits to the homes of parents and their preschool children.Similar activities in Värnamo, Kumla and Borås, which have been inspired by the BookTeddy are also described.Facts about children's psychology, language development and child language illustrate theimportance of stimulating language acquisition in the early years. An important example is"The Bristol Study", a longitudinal study of preschool children.A questionnaire was sent to 93 parents, whose children were bom in 1991. 53 parents or57% answered. The analysis was made out of these 53 questionnaires. The answers showthat most of the parents liked the Book Teddy and enjoyed her visit. They also said that thevisit of the Book Teddy had increased their knowledge of books, reading and language stimulatingactivities. Many of the parents seemed to have changed their role as parents too, some aware of it, others not.

Kräver högläsning bibliotekariekompetens? : Möjligheter och hinder för samarbetemellan bibliotek och daglig verksamhet. / Does reading aloud requires librarian competence? : Opportunitiesand barriers to cooperation between libraries and daily activities.

Carleson, Angela January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to find out whether there is anycollaboration between libraries and daily activity-centres inScania and how librarians and care staff use literature towardspersons with, for example, intellectual disabilities. Furthermorethe aim is to examine if there are any views on how cooperationbetween the organizations could be developed. The method used is web surveys with mainly open endedquestions sent to both librarians and care workers in dailyactivity-centres.The study shows that most collaboration today is concerned withthe participants in the daily activities performing tasks at thelibraries. Many of the librarians also states that they offer bookdeposits. A few libraries occasionally offers reading aloudactivitiesfor the user group. Most of the daily activity-centres inthe study have groups that visit the library regularly. There seemsto be an interest for closer cooperation but lack of resources isregarded by the librarians as the main obstacle.Regarding the purpose of reading aloud for the user group itseems as if both professional categories see it as dominantly apleasant experience for the participants in the daily activities. Thecare workers also stress aloud reading as pastime and reading as ameans to create community. Librarians too stresses the view ofpastime. An important difference is that reading as a way offinding out facts seems to be much more important to the careworkers while the librarians much stronger press the view ofreading as a form of therapy.

”Kan du tala om vad som händer?”: Hur sex bibliotekarier upplever sitt arbete gentemot vuxna med intellektuell funktionsnedsättning / “Can you tell me what is going on?”: How six librarians experience their work with adults with intellectual disabilities

Calén, Ulrika, Malmros, Nanna January 2018 (has links)
This thesis focuses on how librarians describe their work towards users with intellectual disabilities which is a priority group in the control documents for the public libraries. These aims for the user group are to be found in The Swedish library Act, Swedish Agency for Accessible Media (MTM) and Swedish Arts Council and they make up the foundation for this study. The aim of this thesis is to gather knowledge about how to get users with intellectual disabilities to get included and feel welcomed in the library. Three main questions were asked: How does the six librarians in our thesis describe their work towards users with intellectual disabilities? Which challenges does the librarians experience? How do the librarians deal with the identified challenges? In this study qualitative interviews were accomplished with librarians from six different public libraries. M. K. Buckland´s Access to Information (in Information and information systems 1991) was partly used as a model to analyze our empiric material. Buckland, who has a long and solid library background in his profession, identifies six types of barriers and how to overcome the challenge of getting access to information. The results show that collection development is a priority for the libraries and also suitable in four of Buckland´s six barriers of access to information. One conclusion is that several librarians in the study felt content with their efforts since they had a good book collection for the user group. Three other factors that had high priority for the librarians were cooperating with external organizations, programs on the library especially suited for the user group and doing outreaching work to get the user group to come the library.

Pop-up bibliotek : En del av folkbibliotekens marknadsföring? / Pop-up library : A way of marketing the public library?

Lannemyr, Ulrika January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to gain knowledge of the phenomenon of pop-up libraries and what image of pop-up libraries is produced in the media through content analysis of articles and notices in newspapers. Through the results of this analysis, I looked at how the pop-up library can be seen as marketing and what it is marketing for. The aim has also been to investigate whether it is possible to insert the pop-up library into a marketing model by professor E. Jerome McCarthy called 4P: product, price, place and promotion. The method chosen has included obtaining documents in the form of articles from the site ”Mediearkivet”. A content analysis has been carried out within a thematic framework based on the questions: what, where, how and why. The results of this study show the different ways in which the public library designs its pop-up library. A destinctive feature of the pop-up libraries is that there is a willingness among librarians to go outside the library’s walls, show what the public library has to offer and reach new potential borrowers. The result also show that the pop-up library can be seen, and often do so, as a way of marketing the public library. 4P is a model that can be used by pop-up libraries for marketing purpose with certain reservations. In the thesis I suggest that price should be removed in the model as pop-up libraries can not be seen as profit-making. I also suggest an adding of 2 P: person and physical evidence from Booms and Bitners 7P model.

Det friska på sjukhuset : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om användares och bibliotekariers syn på patientbibliotek / The Healthy Part of the Hospital : A Qualitative Interview Study on Users and Librarians’ Views on Patient Libraries

Karlsson, Kristin January 2018 (has links)
The aim for this master’s thesis is to clarify users’ and librarians’ views on patient libraries today. This aim is achieved by answering the following research questions: Which are the most important functions and tasks of the patient library, according to users and librarians? Which views on the patient library’s activity come with these functions and tasks? How does the connection to different cultural institutions, such as the library and the hospital, affect users’ and librarians’ views on the patient library? In what ways is the patient library regarded as an asset for health care? As a background for my study, and to give a context to the results, a historical background on the evolvement of hospital libraries in general, and of the case of S:t Görans patient library in particular, is given. Previous research on the subject of hospital libraries from different perspectives is presented and discussed. Aspects such as the hospital library as a bearer of cultural activity, hospital libraries as information centers and collaboration between library and hospital are discussed. Studies from the field of culture and health, about how cultural activity can improve patients’ health and about how health professionals can benefit from reading fiction, are included in the background of the thesis. The theoretical framework is a sociocultural perspective based on the works of Roger Säljö, with the concept of cultural institutions as a tool to analyze the views on the patient library. The method used is qualitative semistructured interviews with library users and librarians.  One of the tasks and functions that arise from the interview is to make literature available for more people. Another is to be a calm room within the hospital. The conclusion is that the patient library has a strong connection to the public library as well as to the hospital. Users connect the patient library more to the public library, but the function of being a part of the hospital is important too. The librarians connect the patient library strongly to the public library. At the same time, they express loyalty towards the hospital.

Dalaprojektet 1956-1958 : Greta Renborgs bokpropaganda i bibliotekshistorisk belysning / The Dalarna Project 1956–1958 : Greta Renborg’s Book Propaganda in View of Swedish Library History

Westberg, Örjan January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to compile and analyze librarian Greta Renborg’s book propaganda in the Dalarna region of Sweden 1956–1958. The overall theoretical perspective is contextual, focusing on the concepts structure and actor. The actor perspective is further developed by an analysis of Renborg’s book propaganda through library researcher Jofrid Karner Smidt’s mediation roles: Critic and literature expert, Social anthropologist, Pedagogue, Marketer and Ordinary person. Source material includes archive documents, journal articles, newspaper articles and literature. Renborg’s own writing holds a special position in the material. The thesis’ results show that the conditions for carrying out book propaganda in Dalarna were good. Sweden was going through a rapid change in the 1950’s and the state library institution was expanding and willing to experiment. The civic society in Dalarna was strong. The region’s central librarian Tora Olsoni was a driving force behind the hiring of a book consultant. Greta Renborg had contacts high up in the library institution and was a well-known name among Swedish librarians. Source material indicate that she could plan and conduct the Dalarna project basically by her own, only supervised by her employer Dalarnas biblioteksförbund. Greta Renborg built up a large network of contacts and focused her propaganda on non-reading groups ac- cording to a state investigation in 1952, especially farmers, foresters and housewives. The source material shows that her book propaganda has features of all Jofrid Karner Smidt’s mediation roles. The medial reception was overwhelmingly positive and often focused on Renborg’s enthusiastic approach. Any statistical effects of the Dalarna Project have not been proven. This thesis shows that the Dalarna Project to a large extent depended on Greta Renborg as a person. This is the thesis’ most important result. This is a two years master’s thesis in Library and Information Science.
