Previous issue date: 2014-09-17 / The present research is a comparative study between the novel Lavoura arcaica,
by Raduan Nassar, and the homonym film, as well as the observation of the
process of intersemiotic translation between literature and cinema. It also aims to
establish the relation of poetical expressivity and the representation of love.
The analyses is organized in three chapters, starting with the investigation of the
evolution of the concept of poetics in literature and the way it is presented in the
novel. In the second chapter, the study of love expression is associated with
poetry, trying to show how both love and poetry surpass a relation of form and
content. By the end, the third chapter consists in the analyses of the audiovisual
recreation of the novel, making parallels between the artistic possibilities of both
types of language.
The theory of poetic was based on authors such as Aristotle, Jakobson,
Shklovsky, Valéry and Octavio Paz. The last one, along with Roland Barthes,
Georges Bataille, Denis de Rougemont and Plato, guided the parallel traced
between love and poetry. André Bazin and Luis Buñuel brought the essential
concepts to the cinematographic theory and furthermore in the idea of cinema of
poetry: Pier Paolo Pasolini and Andrei Tarkovsky had their writings more
cautiously explored. Leyla Perrone-Moisés and Ismail Xavier, for their respective
studies about the work of Raduan Nassar and Luiz Fernando Caravalho, were two
critic that guided our interpretation / O presente trabalho é um estudo comparado entre o romance Lavoura Arcaica,
no romance.

Seriálová adaptace jako intersémiotický překlad: převod románu M. Atwood The Handmaid's Tale do televizního seriálu / TV series adaptation as an intersemiotic translation of M. Atwood's novel Hanmaid's TaleFranková, Alžběta January 2019 (has links)
This thesis examines TV series adaptation as a type of intersemiotic translation. Proposing an interdisciplinary approach to adaptations, it combines methods of translation studies, film theory, narratology, and adaptation studies. The thesis analyses the translation of Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel The Handmaid's Tale into the first season of its TV series namesake. While using Katerina Perdikaki's translation/adaptation model, it studies and interprets the shifts that occur during the adaptation process. Applying hypotheses by Linda Hutcheon, it focuses on the film means used in the TV series to express meanings narrated in the novel (such as dialogues, voice-over, sound and soundtrack, types of camera shots, camera angles and movement, editing, colours, depth of field, light, narrative and story time, actors, or misanscene).

Previous issue date: 2006-08-18 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This dissertation explores the understanding of the communicative mechanisms between a creator, his production and the mass culture. Knowing communication not only as an objective dialogue. It was observed that there is, besides what is manifesto or showed explicitly, another level that is suggested or that communicates in an explicit manner. The main aim of this research was to understand what kind of communication was possible to be seen between the social imaginary and the work, from a characteristic that would show, on one hand the writer and what is extracted from the work, and on the other hand each character that is in contact with it.Therefore, the characteristic that supports this communication was analyzed, having as the corpus of this research, the serie A Vida como ela é... by Nelson Rodrigues, the texts are semi-fictional and they were published at first in the newspaper and then turned out to be stories on TV. This work was chosen because it was a huge success in Brazil, not only because of its content, sometimes obscene, but also because of its spread in different kinds of media, building up an interesting intersemiotic relation. For this reason, it was possible to construct a theoretical system around the communicative processes between the creator, the work and culture. The theoretical background comes from the following areas of knowledge: semiotic, the communication and information theories, the media, the theories of language, the studies about mediations , the media culture and psychoanalysis / Trata-se de uma pesquisa voltada para a compreensão dos mecanismos comunicativos entre um criador, sua produção e a cultura de massas.

Previous issue date: 2006-09-26 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The expression ut pictura poesis by Horace s Ars Poetica gave rise to the inter-relationship
of the signs of arts. Hence, if relationships can be established between poetry and painting,
likewise, there are some possible relationships amongst the literary text and other arts and
medias. This study hypothesizes that similar cosmovisions express similar translations by
means of different languages. The goal in it is to demonstrate that the literary text can not
only come close to the visual text, but it can also point out some similar translation relationships,
by means of signic collections, the characteristic of the language employed, or similar
cosmovisions. And through the bias provided by the image, it opens itself to other translations
and modernizations. So, the starting point was, especially, abduction (Peirce, 1989;
2000; s.d.; Santaella, 1992; 1993; 2000; 2002; Colapietro, 2003), hearing the object and
the possibility of fallibilism. After the interaction of the Dynamic Interpreting Agent (who is
also the Interpreter) with the Sign being analyzed, it was possible to observe, in a yet disorganized
fashion, the presence of a surreal trend in the material that was being investigated.
This was done by checking the writings: sparse notes, reflections, drafts, statements and
dated newspapers (Salles, 1990; 2000; 2001; 2002). The data thus obtained indicated a
strong trend of the brazilian writer Clarice Lispector towards surreal poetic writing (Bradley,
2001; Breton, 1924; 1970; 1998; Chénieux-Gendron, 1992), hence reasserting the bretonian
theories. From there onwards, with the aim of ascertaining the existence of surrealism in Lispector s
works, the option was made to analyze the products. The process continued with the
analysis of Água Viva (1973) and Laços de Família (1974), which confirmed previous observations.
Such analysis yielded a text that not only showed evidence of the presence of surreal
poetic writing in the lispectorian work, but also a strong trend towards figurative language
which provoked an approximation to the works of René Magritte, in whose work, not
only the image but also the word are used as reference. After confirming the presence of the
surreal poetic writing in the literary text, and after establishing the presence of the picture
through description, it was decided to search for the pictures both in the literary text and in
the plastic production, and the correspondence between both was thus made very clear. The
transformation occurred after the analysis of the translation of A hora da estrela (1978), into
a film by Suzana Amaral (1986). The signic collections brought both languages into close
proximity and the visuality present in the literary text made it possible to translate the text into
the language of cinema. Therefore, one can observe semiotics, through semiosis, as a vehicle
of transdisciplinarity, for the eyes of the researcher are one of the links of the semiotic
chain, therefore discarding the Cartesian paradigm. The different languages are, thus,
unique means people use to translate, explain or understand the surrounding world. Once
the Cartesian paradigm has been discarded, this research reveals through direct participation
of the subject (Interpreter, Dynamic Interpreting, Semiosis generator) with the object of
the analysis, the possibility of bringing different languages closer. This fact merely reasserts
Horace s words and supports the report of Simonides de Cós on the fact that painting is silent
poetry and poetry is a talking painting. This discussion, however, revolves around this
issue: If one follows this path, in view of the transdisciplinarian web that the process requires,
would it be possible to arrive at similar results in approximations with other artists? Maybe
what happened in this research was a coincidence, in terms of similar signic collections. In
view of that, a proposal is made to repeat the methodology presented here, all the while
Para tal, partiu-se, sobretudo, da abdução (Peirce, 1989; 2000; s.d.; Santaella, 1992; 1993;
as teorias bretonianas.
A transformação
Amaral (1986). As recolhas sígnicas aproximaram ambas as linguagens e a visualidade presente no

A transmutaÃÃo monadolÃgica de BjÃrk: traduÃÃo intersemiÃtica da dor em trÃs dimensÃes, a partir de Black Lake / The Monadologic Transmutation of BjÃrk: Intersemiotic Translation of Pain in Three Dimensions, from Black LakeJefferson CÃndido Nunes 25 May 2017 (has links)
BjÃrk goes beyond creativity with her unique art and thus has innovated and influenced important media sectors, such as the music, the photographic and digital art, and the video making industries. With her latest album, Vulnicura (BJÃRK, 2015n), the Icelandic artist expresses a keen sense of pain that reaches its apex in Black Lake (2015c), the fourth track of the disc. From the poetic text, composed by the lyrics of that song, I investigate how the transmutation of BjÃrkâs subjectivity happened through the intersemiotic translation of that text-sign to three different polysystems: music, image and video. Therefore, I propose a dialogue, among others, with the studies of Jakobson (1992), Plaza (2003) and Pierce (2000), who have important works on intersemiotic translation, to compose the first part of the theoretical foundation of this research. In addition, I ground it in the investigations of KÃhl (2008), Barthes (1977) and Goodwin (1992), who deal, respectively, with media translations to music, image and video, to compose the specific elements of analysis of the corpus here studied and, along with other authors, to be able to analyze it from a more heterogeneous theoretical framework. The results point to the mastery of BjÃrk by evidence of her artistic ability to uniquely transmutate the sensation of pain â and, by extension, to transcreate her own self â to those three sign dimensions, reinforcing such an element in her translations. It follows, therefore, that this research is relevant to the development of the Translation Studies and, more specifically, to provide better understanding of phenomena concerning the intersemiotic translation.

Previous issue date: 2008-04-15 / In a general way this work tries to construct a morphological signs of the charactersking
Lear and Hidetora, respectively in Shakespeare s King Lear (1606) and Japanese film
director Kurosawa s film Ran (1985). Kurosawa can be considered as one of the main
contemporary film maker who through his films brings an understanding through the
intersemiotic translation as sign characters. This theoretical and analytical construction,
construction that is the sign-character, looks forward to pass through a coherent system of
generator of signs at the level of icons. From index to the symbols, there is a deep
understanding of significations which in each character composes the interior and the interrelationship
in each work. Thus these sign movements of each sign character are understood
as a reciprocal constellation and at the same time it provokes the sentiments and meanings
present in the characters-type (Lear and Hidetora). Thus, this proposal that culminates sign
character finds theoretical and methodological support from the discussion which globalizes
the aspects of intersemiotic translation proposed by Julio Plaza and Andre Lefevere, among
others, in the context of signs theory described by Pierce and well supported in theorization
and approaches about the characters and the inter discursive and schizophrenic aspect.
Initially we present the formative purpose of sign characters through the examples taken
from various productions in distinct languages (such as video clips, HQ, animation and
cinema). Then we configure a comparative and relational space to proceed with a
denominated analysis of enunciative scenes which assumes the sign action of the characters
of the literary work and the film. Having the vectors, as the elements; death, power and
metamorphosing the old age, the action of sign character indicates a double functionality,
primarily, as a form of verifying the dynamic signs of characters in their environment, and an
ample understanding related to the performance of the sign characters away from the orbit,
from their initial support.
