An Instrumental Case Study on Declining Enrollment Conditions for an Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Degree Program W ithin a Private UniversityHastings, Alcee L., II 01 January 2014 (has links)
This study addresses the declining enrollment conditions for an Associate of Arts Program at a private university. The problem this dissertation will address involves a need for increasing enrollment in the Associate of Arts (AA) in Early Childhood Education. The information about the program is currently not reaching the targeted population in order to raise awareness and in turn increase the enrollment in the program. The purpose of this project is to enable the enrollment service representatives, with the aid of their knowledge of recruiting the potential student population and information about the Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education Degree (AA/ECE). The enrollment services representatives should be able to recruit and enroll new students in the program. The recommendations to effect dramatic enrollment changes in the program consist of the following: registration initiatives designed to focus on prospective students interested in the program, such as, recruiting calls from staff and offering direct assistance with registration, the development of a new database specially targeting prospective students, and a marketing and advertising campaign using traditional and social media to find new applicants. It also seeks to assess the impact the marketing and recruiting training will have on the staff and on the AA/ECE program.

Changement et divergence par rapport à l'usage standard : le cas de la chute du suffixe adverbial en anglais et en françaisWinokur, Elizabeth 24 April 2018 (has links)
Est-ce qu’on parle correct ou correctement ? Est-ce qu’on court vitement ou vite ? Et comment, en anglais, est-ce qu’on choisit de marcher quick ou quickly, ou de répondre rightly ou right ? Ce mémoire analyse la variation entre -ly et -ø dans l’usage courant des adverbes en anglais (telle que rightly/right) et la variation entre -ment et -ø dans l’usage courant des adverbes en français (telle que correctement/correct) en examinant des données orales relevées dans des conversations personnelles et des émissions de télévision non scriptées, et des données écrites compilées à partir de commentaires d’appréciation dans des forums Internet et aussi à partir de textes gouvernementaux dans les deux langues. Cet ensemble de corpus comprend plus de 2 489 000 mots, sans compter les extraits de conversations personnelles, les émissions de télévision, et des centaines de recherches avancées à partir de l'outil de recherche Google. Nous analysons trois variables sociolinguistiques dont le sexe, l’âge et le degré de formalité. Nous examinons également les aspects sémantiques de cette alternance à partir des champs sémantiques des résultats percevables (les mouvements, les positions dans l’espace, les sons, les odeurs) et des résultats ou des processus plus abstraits (ce qui concerne la vie intellectuelle, morale ou affective), entre autres. Nous avons trouvé que bien que l’adverbe sans suffixe qualifie un résultat perceptible dans certains cas, il y a beaucoup d’exemples où les deux formes – avec et sans suffixe – apparaissent dans les mêmes champs sémantiques. Nos résultats tendent à montrer que l’adverbe sans suffixe, qui encode une signification concrète et objective depuis au moins 650 ans en anglais (Tagliamonte et Ito 2002), est utilisé plutôt dans le registre informel, à l’oral, chez les jeunes, et quand le locuteur souhaite paraître « cool », « sympa » ou « amusant ». Nous espérons finalement évaluer les implications de nos résultats en ce qui concerne l’état actuel du français et de l’anglais (bien que nos résultats puissent indiquer un changement en cours), et dans les domaines de la didactique des langues, de la grammaire, de la lexicographie, de la communication, de la publicité ou de la traduction. / Do we walk quick or quickly? Do we answer rightly or right? And how, in French, do we choose to speak correct or correctement, or to run vitement or vite? This French-language-composed Master’s thesis analyzes the variation between -ly and -ø in the current usage of English adverbs (such as rightly/right) and the variation between -ment and -ø in the current usage of French adverbs (such as correctement/correct) by examining spoken data from personal conversations and reality TV shows, and written data from informal Internet forum discussion threads and from formally written government texts (also found on the Internet), in both languages. The present study (translated title: "Change and Divergence from Standard Language Use: The Case of Suffix Omission in French and English Adverbs") examines corpora composed of more than 2,489,000 words, in addition to personal conversations, TV shows, and hundreds of advanced searches through the Google search engine. Our study focuses on three sociolinguistic variables: age, sex and formality. We also examine semantic aspects of this alternation such as its relation to the semantic fields of perceivable results (movements, spatial positions, sounds, odors) and abstract results or processes (concerning the intellectual, moral or affective realms), among others. We have found that while the adverb without suffix often does relate to perceivable results, there are many examples when both forms – with and without suffix – appear in the same semantic fields. Our results tend to show that the adverb without suffix, which encodes concrete, objective meaning and dates back 650 years or more in English (Tagliamonte and Ito 2002), is more often used in the informal register, in spoken language, among the youth, and when the speaker wishes to appear "cool, " "supportive" or "fun." Finally, we hope to evaluate the implications of our results concerning the current state of the French and English languages (although our results may indicate a change in progress), and in the fields of language teaching, grammar, lexicography, communication, advertising and/or translation.

Intermédialité et déconstruction de la fiction chez Alain Robbe-Gillet : analyse comparative de "La maison de rendez-vous" et de "L'homme qui ment"Martel, Alexandre 24 April 2018 (has links)
Alain Robbe-Grillet, d’abord connu en tant que romancier, a dès le début des années 1960 partagé son temps entre le cinéma et la littérature. Après avoir fourni le scénario de L’année dernière à Marienbad, il est passé derrière la caméra et a réalisé une dizaine de films qui, tant par leur forme que leur propos, poursuivent les recherches esthétiques entreprises dans sa pratique littéraire. Plus encore, il nous semble que le début de cette aventure cinématographique marque un tournant dans son œuvre. Alors que le point de vue qui portait les premiers romans — point de vue que les critiques ont rapproché de celui d’une caméra —, marquait déjà la dimension intermédiale de son œuvre, il apparaît que son passage dans la chaise du réalisateur a été le germe d’une radicalisation de sa pratique. Ainsi, les romans et les films qui ont suivi possèdent une portée intermédiale beaucoup plus large. De fait, c’est l’ensemble de la narration qui s’y trouve remise en question par la mise en évidence des spécificités de chacun des médias et par la transposition de procédés propres à la littérature dans le film, et vice versa. C’est par une étude comparative de La maison de rendez-vous (1965) et de L’homme qui ment (1968) que nous montrons en quoi consiste la relation intermédiale que Robbe-Grillet établit entre les disciplines, en plus de mettre en évidence les mécaniques qui, ancrées dans la matérialité des médias, fondent le roman et le film.

現階段的兒童少年保護工作中,社會工作專業的介入都與法令的執行及公權力角色息息相關,強制性的工作乃是依據兒童及少年保護的相關立法規定而進行強制性的介入。在兒童及少年保護工作中,以緊急安置對兒童及少年的家庭、親子關係及相關權益有最直接的影響,而事實上,在強制性的介入中,家庭弁鄋熊�估及處遇工作是一項整合修復兒童及少年個人與家庭的重要過程,並確保兒童少年及其家庭二方的權益皆能受到保障。本研究係針對屏東縣91年至94年間處理的78件兒童少年緊急安置案件,採量化的文件分析法及質性的深度訪談蒐集研究資料,希望透過本研究檢視過去緊急安置的處遇方式,並提出未來在兒童及少年保護過程中緊急安置發展方向的建議。研究者以家庭處遇的觀點來探討兒童及少年在經過緊急安置及提供受虐者與施虐者必要的輔導後,家庭維繫或家庭重整對兒童及少年權益的影響。研究者透過個案處遇記錄及與執行兒少保護實務的工作人員訪談,針對屏東縣在執行兒童及少年保護工作的緊急安置處遇提出下列研究成果與建議:1.目前兒童及少年保護的工作模式,大致仍以提供兒童及少年最佳安全環境為主要目的,緊急安置對案主權益的維護,與後續的家庭評估與處遇有重要的相關,是以加強專業網絡的建構及提昇專業人員知能才能有效執行法令對兒童及少年的保護;2.治本的辦法則為加強社會教育強化父母對子女的責任觀念;3.若評估家庭弁鄐w無法重建,?維護兒童及少年的權益,替代性的服務是必要的處遇觀念,讓兒童及少年有機會重新出發建立新的生活能力。 / Presently, the involvement of professional social work is related closely with the execution of laws and the gov ern ment when we talk about the protection of children and teenagers. Forceful modes are based on the laws of children and teenagers protection. However, what influences the relati on and rights of children and teenagers is crisis interven tion and placement. In fact, the evaluation of family fu nction and family treat ment is an important processof int egrating th econnection of individual and family in forceful mode. It can also guarantee the rights of both child ren and family. This research is based on 78 cases of teenagers’ crisis i ntervention and pl acement in Pintung County fro m 2002 to 2005. It is a quantified document analysis and a qualified deep interview as well . The purpose of this article is to discuss the way o f the urgent ensconced treatment in the past, and give advices to improve the quality of children and teenage protection in the future. This article uses the view of family treat ment approach to discuss the in fluence of victims, offenders, and fa mily in children and teenagers urgent ensconced treatment. Based on the individual reco rds and interview with workers who work with children and teenagers, there are some conclusions and suggestions to urgent ensconced treat ment of children and teenagers protection in Pintung county as following: 1. At present , the main goal o f the children and teenagers protection is still providing the safest circu mstances. The way o f crisis int ervention and placement has strong connection with guarantee of client s’ rights and family evaluation in the future. To improve the function of child ren andteenagers protection more efficiently, we should strengthen the professional netwo rk and elevate the knowledge of professional workers. 2. The best way to solve the problem is to enhance parent s’ responsibility to their children. 3. Syftet med detta arbete är att bidra med kunskap om hur förskollärare ser på lek och dess betydelse för barns motoriska utveckling. De har fått dela med sig av sina tankar om hur lek och motorisk utveckling har för relation och vad förskollärare anser är deras roll vad gäller lek och motorisk utveckling. Detta har möjliggjorts genom att använda sig av det fenomenologiska perspektivet där människan erfar världen genom kropp och sinne. Tidigare forskning visar att det finns ett tydligt samband mellan lek och motorisk utveckling. Arbetet bygger på kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer med fyra förskollärare. Resultatet visar att förskollärarna anser att det finns ett tydligt samband vad gäller lek och motorisk utveckling. I resultatet framkom det även att pedagogerna i förskolan har en viktig roll i arbetet med lek och motorisk utveckling. Att vara närvarande pedagog förutsätter att fler är med och deltar och att det blir en jämnare nivå på leken. / The purpose of this work was to provide knowledge about how preschool teachers look at play and its importance for children´s motor development. They have shared their thoughts about how play and motor development are related and what preschoolers consider is their role in play and motor development. This has been made possible by using the phenomenological perspectives where man experiences the world through body and mind. Previous research shows that there is clear connection between play and motor development. The survey is based on qualitative interviews, semistructured interviews on four preschools teachers. The result shows that preschool teachers believe there is a clear connection in play and motor development. In the result, it was also found that the preschool teachers play and important role in the play and motor development. Being a present teacher assumes that more people participate and participate, and that there is more even level of play.

Hållbar lokalisering av nya bostäder på landsbygd : En fallstudie över Skärplinge i Tierps kommunLindgren, Ida January 2021 (has links)
Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur GIS-baserad multikriterieanalys kan användas för att föreslå en hållbar lokalisering av ny bebyggelse på landsbygd. Covid-19 pandemin har utmanat invanda beteendemönster och värderingar. Social distansering och att arbeta på distans har blivit det nya normala och det finns anledning att tro att distansarbete kommer att vara mer accepterat även efter det att pandemin är över. Redan innan pandemin fanns en svagt uppåt-gående trend med befolkningsökning i tätortsnära landsbygdssamhällen. Om attraktionen för bostäder inom tätortsnära landsbygdssamhällen ökar blir det viktigt att fundera på hur en nyetablering av bebyggelse kan ske på ett så håll-bart sätt som möjligt. En fallstudie genomfördes över ett mindre landsbygds-samhälle med fokus på att identifiera utmaningar ur hållbarhetssynpunkt och vilka kriterier som är viktiga att beakta vid lokalisering av nya bostäder. Plats-analys, enkät och intervju användes för att välja ut kriterier till den GIS-baserade multikriterieanalysen och för att utvärdera resultatet. En enklare känslighetsanalys genomfördes för att bedöma om den valda metoden var robust och vilken inverkan de olika kriterierna och deras viktning hade på slut-resultatet. Fem platser med en area större än 1000 m² pekades ut i analysen som de bäst lämpade platserna för lokalisering av nya bostäder. Vid utvärde-ringen av platserna i verkligheten visade sig samtliga ha brister som förbisetts i analysen. När slutresultatet vidgades till att inkludera även de näst bästa plat-serna uppvisade flera av platserna potential för etablering av nya bostäder. Slutsatsen av studien var att GIS-baserad multikriterieanalys innebär många osäkerhetsfaktorer och att det är viktigt att valet av kriterier anpassas till för-utsättningarna inom studieområdet för att resultatet ska bli tillförlitligt. Resul-tatet från GIS-baserad multikriterieanalys behöver utvärderas noggrant och be-slutsfattare bör inte enbart koncentrera sig på platserna med de högsta värdena i analysen utan behålla ett bredare perspektiv och även utvärdera de näst bästa platserna. Ett spektrum av kriterier som inbegriper såväl miljömässiga som so-ciala och ekonomiska aspekter av hållbarhet ökar förutsättningarna för att den föreslagna lokaliseringen ska bli så hållbar som möjligt. GIS-baserad multi-kriterieanalys kan, rätt använd, vara ett värdefullt verktyg för att hitta en så hållbar lokalisering som möjligt för nya bostäder på landsbygd. / The aim of the study was to examine how GIS-based multicriteria analysis can be used to propose a sustainable location for new buildings in rural areas. The Covid-19 pandemic has challenged behavior patterns and values. Social distancing and remote work have become the new normal and there is reason to believe that remote working will be more accepted when the pandemic is over. There was an upward trend of population growth in rural communities close to urban areas even before the Covid-19 pandemic. If the attraction for housing in rural communities increases, it will be important to consider how a new establishment of buildings can take place in a sustainable way. A case study was conducted over a small rural community. Focus for the study was identification of challenges from a sustainability point of view and conside-ration of the most important criteria when locating new houses. Place ana-lysis, questionnaire and interview were methods used to select criteria for the GIS-based multicriteria analysis, and evaluation of the results. A simplified sensitivity analysis was performed to assess the robustness of the chosen method and impact of criteria weighting on the result. Five sites with an area larger than 1000 m² were pointed out in the analysis as the most suitable for new housing. In the evaluation of the sites, they all turned out to have short-comings that were overlooked in the analysis. When the result was expanded to include even the second-best places, several of the places showed potential for new housing establishment. The conclusion of the study was that GIS-based multicriteria analysis involves many uncertainty factors and study area conditions must be considered then criteria choices are made for the result to be reliable. The result of the analysis needs to be carefully evaluated and de-cision-makers should not only concentrate on the places with the highest value in the analysis but maintain a broader perspective and evaluate the second-best places as well. A criteria spectrum including both environmental, social, and economic aspects of sustainability increase the probability for the proposed locations to be truly sustainable. GIS-based multi-criteria analysis can be a valuable tool in finding a location as sustainable as possible for new housing in rural areas, if used correctly.

The dissertation is focused on changes in an attitude and initiative students at secondary special school with gastronomy orientation to study special subjects after realization a creative project: "Welcome Day - Day of Open Door - Halloween." The target group are students of Secondary School and College for Tourist Industry in České Budějovice. The dissertation is divided into fifth chapters. I the first two chapters different opinions of experts in teaching methods, classical and alternative methods of education and teaching, teachers competence and authority participation, experimental education are compared. The thirds chapter contains proposals for topics of project learning in schools with gastronomy orientation. There is an enumeration of folk traditions and their connection with the culture and gastronomy. The fourth chapter describes the project realization in Secondary School and College for Tourist Industry in České Budějovice. The fifth chapter contains the research targets, the research methods and interpretation of research results. The target of the dissertation is questionnaire comparison of students' attitudes after realization the project learning. The research assumptions are that students appreciate extension special subjects of folk traditions and do not reject to participation in the pro?ject realization.

Att rekonstruera en kulturarvsprocess : En fallstudie utifrån Havrekvarnen i Nacka / To reconstruct a heritage process : A case study based on Havrekvarnen in NackaBusk, Hampus January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this study is to explore heritage processes within contemporary urban planning in Sweden, which is done through a single-case study. The point of departure for the study is the management of Havrekvarnen, an early modernist industrial building within an urban development area of Nacka, Sweden. Through parallel decisions by the County Administrative Board and the local Municipality in 2016, the building was firstly, listed with the strongest legal, cultural, and historical protection available, and secondly, the municipal urban regulations were changed so that the landowner was given permission to pursuit a reconstruction of the building, replicating its original appearance. As such the case constitutes a hitherto unique example of a listed future reconstruction in Sweden. The study examines how the process took place, focusing on actors and critical junctures involved in the execution and how the description of the building's heritage-values changed. The study uses a composite theoretical framework of authorized heritage discourse and actor network theory. To this an explaining-outcome process tracing is applied as method. Through a sequential process of collecting empirical data, in the form of archival records and interviews, the process was mapped through the conceptualization of a causal mechanism. The method had not previously been used in the field of art history and was chosen as such with a tentative approach. The study gives an extensive presentation of the legal and practical framework surrounding heritage processes within urban planning in Sweden, as well as puts the study within a local historical context. The results of the study show that within the observed case, a trade-off situation between authenticity and aesthetic historical values arose, caused by the poor technical condition of the building: the aesthetic values were deemed to take precedence in the assessment. The study also shows how antiquarian consultants have had a decisive influence on the process of legislative enabling of the reconstruction of Havrekvarnen. The research design’s use of process tracing to map heritage processes is thus deemed useful for future enquiries within the field of art history and heritage studies.
