Happy ending?

Bodis, Helena, Zadig, Josefina January 2019 (has links)
Multiple sources determine that many of Malmö’s Thai massage parlours offersexual services. The goal of this study has been to investigate how extensive thealleged problem is, and to clarify the type of vulnerable situations some of thewomen working in the massage parlours live in. An important part on this studyhas been to highlight the type of support professionals can offer these women.Experiences and knowledge from professionals, voluntary organizations, andmunicipalities has been the bases for this study. Data has been gained throughqualitative interviews with professionals from the above mentioned actors. Theinterviews show that sexual services are sold in Thai massage parlours in Malmö.The interviewees confirm that many of the women that work in Thai massageparlours live in especially vulnerable situations. A combination of dependency ontheir employer, on a Swedish husband and a lack of understanding of Swedishlaws and rights, have contributed to these women’s vulnerability. A fear of losingtheir residency is a factor that has increased their dependency. According toseveral interviewees, outreach work toward this group can become substantiallyimproved.

The diploma thesis deals with a topic related to the Covid-19 pandemic, specifically the impact on the sex business, resp. to people who move in this segment of commercial sexual services. The work aimed to analyze and describe the possible effects in the defined areas, which arose from the available studied sources (mainly foreign). Christopher Isherwood's experience in Weimar Germany : a testimony of the state of homosexuality in Weimar Germany

Le Brun, Calvin 08 1900 (has links)
This memoir explores the state of homosexuality in the Weimar Republic from Christopher Isherwood’s perspective. During his stays throughout Weimar Germany, Isherwood transcribed and fictionalized a critical number of events and experiences he had. From this comes an interpretation of events and emotions, which I qualify in this memoir as a translation of experience. This experience offers a perspective on numerous questions linked to homosexuality in the Weimar Republic and has the particularity of being presented from a point of view which frees itself from the concept of truth, and benefits the emotions of the author instead of the accuracy of an event, Christopher Isherwood’s work like Goodbye to Berlin, Mr. Norris Changes Train, or his memoir Christopher And His Kind open many discourses on male prostitution, the dynamic in homosexual relationships of the era, the link between language and the notion of “truth,” and the romanticization of the Weimar Republic through stories and the arts. I decided to explore these topics through three respective chapters.

Hultkvist, Molly January 2023 (has links)
In several stages during the 19th century, a so-called regulatory system was introduced to govern the prostitution market in Stockholm. These sets of laws meant, among other things, that prostitution was permitted and that prostituted women were obliged to undergo compulsory gynecological examinations to ensure that they were not carriers of venereal infection. In parallel with the regulatory system, rigorous resistance work was carried out to try to abolish all forms of prostitution. In 1878, the Swedish Federation was formed - an organization that wanted to achieve two things: to abolish public prostitution and to strengthen morals in society. In their magazine Sedlighets-vännen the members of the organization published debate articles, columns and testimonies regarding sexual health, morality and the, in their opinion, unjustified regulatory system. The main goal was to advocate for the abolition of prostitution and to influence the public in regards of prostitution and morality. In this essay, I intend to highlight the role that the “prostitution client”, an often overlooked part, has historically played in the Swedish sexual political field. I do this by performing a discourse analysis of a number of articles published in Sedlighets-vännen. My research implies that several depictions of the male buyer and men overall are found within the material. The main purpose of this essay is to examine how the members of the organization viewed men overall, and the male sex buyers in particular. The role of the buyer has not been properly researched, hence a report of this kind fills in a gap in the history of prostitution.

Sex som ett självskadebeteende

Johansson, Elin, Lindberg, Christine January 2015 (has links)
This study aims to, through a qualitative interview approach, reach a further understanding of the phenomenon sex as a self-injury behavior. Self injury behaviors have been studied and defined, but sex as a self-injury was not included in the scientific studies Zetterqvist, 2014; Nock, 2014; Klonsky 2009). However, psychologist´s, organizations, and other professionals where interpreters and define this matter as if it existed (Sjöström, 2012; Landgren 2015; Jonsson och Mattson, 2013; Tjejouren 2015; MUCF, 2013).By interviewing three different people that come in contact with sex as a self-injury through work, combined with previous research, this study has come to show how sex can be used in the same way as any other self-injury behavior. The result shows that sex can be used for self-injury and that it is done in the purpose of coping with anxiety and other bad feelings. Previous trauma and/or a dysfunctional family dynamic can lead to an individual developing non-functional strategies to cope with potential bad feelings. Individuals turn to a sexual destructive behavior as a strategy to cope. The study shows that prostitution can be associated with risky sex as it can become a way of exposing yourself to dangerous situations.Differences between sex as a self-injury behavior and other self-injury behavior where detected. These where described in the way that control is given away to a other person. Also sex is something that usually gives pleasure and is a natural behavior so to just stop having sex is not desirable. Instead the person must find a way of having a healthy sexual behavior. The result shows that due to the fact that sex as a self-injury behavior does not have a scientific status subjective interpretation can be made on how to look an approach the phenomenon. However all the respondents agreed that you need an open and norm critical approach. Furthermore the question can be asked if scientific concepts represent the only right knowledge. Is it possible that practical and non-scientific knowledge can be as important.

Grönvall, Ylva January 2015 (has links)
The aim of the study is to explore how purchasers of sexual services describe and explain their behavioural patterns, with a focus on their intimate relations and everyday life. Data was collected in semi-structured interviews with nine male participants who purchase sexual services and are currently in a relationship. Using a qualitative method, a poststructuralist research approach was applied. The empirical findings were analysed within theoretical frameworks and viewpoints based on modernity theories, encompassing various forms of commercialization and commodification of intimate relations. The principal results of the study present an idea of what functions the purchases of sexual services fulfil for the participants, how the purchases are organized and carried out, and how the behaviour affects their attitudes towards current partners and relations. Furthermore, the results give an understanding of how purchases of sexual services relate to private and commercial sexuality, what concerns the participants have for applicable Swedish legislation, and what moral values they hold regarding purchases of sexual services. On individual, relational and structural levels, the analysis shows how the participants navigate and negotiate around various aspects of intimacy and consumption in connection to purchases of sexual services outside a current relation.
