Vad är god praxis för kalibrering och funktionskontroller av vågar inom läkemedelsindustrin / What is the best practice for calibration and routine testing of balances in the pharmaceutical industry

Gourie, Roberto January 2022 (has links)
In this study that was commissioned by AstraZeneca's dispensing function that worksmainly by sub-dividing materials from its bulk packaging. They wanted to investigatehow and with what frequencies calibrations and routine testing for their balances shouldbe performed. This, with the purpose of harmonizing an updated and improvedstandard between the sites Gärtuna and Snäckviken. Measurement theory standards are not something that pharmaceutical companiesthemselves invest resources in but rather follow what pharmacopoeias around the worldpublish in their books. The books contain everything that may be needed for themanufacturing and design of medicines. The purpose of calibrating and performingroutine testing as often as AstraZeneca does today is to comply with regulations to beapproved during inspections. However, there is a risk that routine testing andcalibrations are performed at a higher or lower frequency than they should be, and thatirrelevant tests at these routine tests are given too high a priority to demonstrate abalances ability to function properly. To investigate this, a survey was conducted of how AstraZeneca works today withbalance calibrations and routine testing. The survey considered both how the work isdone internally via AstraZeneca’s own employees, but also externally via the balancemanufacturer and validation companies. This information, in combination with whatthe pharmacopoeias and the balance manufacturer themselves claim is the correct wayof operating, became a clear and effective way of sifting away superfluous and in somecases irrelevant methods used in AstraZeneca today. In addition to these, there arephenomena such as measurement uncertainty and external disturbance elements thatcan affect any weighing to the extent that the results are completely misleading, and inthe case of the pharmaceutical industry, such results would be unacceptable. At the end of the study, several systematic flaws or shortcomings could be identified andrecommendations to counteract or solve these were given in accordance with the aim ofachieving best practice for the use of balances in connection with the dispensingprocess. Future improvement work would have been greatly simplified and streamlinedif complete digitization and monitoring of the disturbance elements were made possible.

Hochtemperaturinduzierte Mikrostrukturänderungen und Phasenübergänge in nanokristallinen, metastabilen und defektbehafteten Aluminiumoxiden

Thümmler, Martin 03 December 2024 (has links)
Within the collaborative research center SFB 920 “Multifunctional Filters for Metal Melt Filtration”, the thermally induced formation of metastable aluminum oxides and related microstructural changes were investigated. It was confirmed that the γ-Al₂O₃ phase possesses a defective spinel structure containing Al vacancies that preserve the stoichiometry of this phase. The presence of vacancies fragments apparently the γ-Al₂O₃ crystallites into nanocrystalline domains, which are separated by non-conservative antiphase boundaries (APBs) of the type {100} ¼<110>. These APBs form a 3D network that is randomly distributed over all crystallographically equivalent lattice planes. This phenomenon causes a starlike (and hkl-dependent) broadening of the reciprocal lattice points that correspond to the aluminum sublattice. It was shown that the extent of the broadening of the reciprocal lattice points can be predicted by employing the phase shift factors. With increasing degree of the APBs ordering, the initial streaks representing the broadened reflections start to split, forming superstructure reflections. This superstructure of γ-Al₂O₃ is commonly known as δ-Al₂O₃. Between the ordered APBs, the crystal structure of δ-Al₂O₃ is closely related to the crystal structure of monoclinic θ-Al₂O₃. The phase transition of γ-Al₂O₃/δ-Al₂O₃ to θ-Al₂O₃ proceeds via migration of just three Al³⁺ cations to the neighboring tetrahedral and octahedral sites in the cubic close packed (ccp) oxygen sublattice. The general migration vector is ⅛<111> (γ-Al₂O₃). Diffraction effects associated with different intermediate states can be explained by an improper long-range ordering of equivalent APBs or certain Al³⁺ cations and the local formation of θ-Al₂O₃ within the δ-Al₂O₃ superstructure. The formation of θ-Al₂O₃ is accompanied by an increase of the occupancy of the tetrahedral sites in the oxygen sublattice by the Al³⁺ cations. In surrounding local γ-Al₂O₃ domains, however, some cations migrate from the tetrahedral to the octahedral sites. Thus, the local formation of θ-Al₂O₃ is nearly invisible for the ²⁷Al 1D magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS NMR) spectroscopy. Still, it was recognized by the 2D multiple quantum (MQ) MAS NMR spectroscopy. A continuous formation of the θ-Al₂O₃ domains was confirmed by the Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED). The proposed microstructure and transformation models helped to explain the thermal stabilization of the metastable alumina phases by Si-doping. For investigation of the thermally induced phase transitions in metastable alumina phases, boehmite (γ-AlO(OH)) was chosen as the starting compound. However, the metastable alumina phases were also observed in endogenous inclusions present in solidified steel melts. For identification of these phases, a procedure for reconstruction of spherical Kikuchi maps from recorded EBSD patterns was developed.

Addressing heritage crime in Gauteng, South Africa : an integrative exposition

Benson, Bernadine Carol 19 December 2013 (has links)
This research explored, described and explained the nature and the extent of heritage crime as it manifested in the Gauteng Province of South Africa for the period 2006-2010. Gauteng was selected since it is deemed to be the hub of the legal trade. An operational definition of heritage objects was drafted for this study as ‘objects of artistic, cultural, historic or archaeological value regardless of age, housed in or curated by museums or galleries within Gauteng, and which are both tangible and moveable.’ Heritage crime for the purpose of this study was the illegal removal of any heritage object from a museum or gallery. The annual crime statistics released by the South African Police Services (SAPS) contain no reference to heritage crime of any sort. Therefore this research attempted to quantify the incidents of thefts experienced by museums and galleries in Gauteng for the period 2006-2010. Using a mixed method approach, data were gathered by qualitative and quantitative surveys. A total of 28 qualitative interviews were conducted. These data were integrated with the quantitative data which permitted the achievement of the strategic aims set out for this research. The following aims were achieved: • The roles and responsibilities of the custodians of the national estate were clarified; • International conventions designed to assist in combating crime perpetrated against cultural property were discussed; • The national legislation which guides the management, preservation and protection of heritage objects as well as the trade therein within South Africa was examined; • Policing agencies at the forefront of combating heritage crime were interviewed and international best practices were identified and compared with that which the SAPS are doing to address crime of this nature. These police agencies are situated in Italy, the United Kingdom, the USA and Germany; • The dynamics of the reported incidents of loss/theft were examined. Several anomalies were identified. Among these are the identification of the typologies of items being targeted and the possible identification of the type of thief perpetrating these crimes. • Through analysis of incidents it was also possible to highlight that the majority of thefts occur during the time when museums and galleries are open and that the items stolen are usually on open display (not affixed to the surface and not behind a barrier of any sort). Through the analysis of the data for legal trade and the theft incidents it was possible to design a Framework depicting the interface between the legal and illegal markets for trade in heritage objects. The research also provides law enforcement with minimum guidelines to ensure that crimes of this nature are addressed more effectively. / D.Litt. et Phil. / Department of Criminology (Police Science)

HIV exceptionalism and the South African HIV and AIDS epidemic: perspectives of health care workers in Pietermaritzburg

Still, Linda Joy 31 October 2008 (has links)
The limited success of HIV-testing facilities in South Africa means that many people are not accessing necessary antiretroviral treatment services. This study investigates the practical implications of HIV exceptionalism inherent in Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT). A semi-structured interview schedule was used to survey participants for their perspectives on barriers to HIV-testing uptake as well as the effects of exceptionalist practices at VCT clinics. Responses showed marked perceptions of gender differences in people's willingness to test and several important barriers including problems of access to services. Significantly, exceptionalism displayed in certain clinic procedures was thought to contribute to stigma, and attempts to normalise HIV practice in order to combat the effects of stigma were being informally implemented. Participants' views on routine opt-out testing were explored. The researcher recommended further investigation on how HIV testing and treatment policies can be normalised so as to reduce stigma and increase testing uptake. / Social Work / M.A. Sociology (Social Behaviour Studies in HIV/AIDS)

„Ich sehe nur, wie sich die Menschen plagen“: Gesundheitsvorstellungen, -risiken und -verhalten von Berufspolitikern – eine empirische Analyse / Empirical analysis of health concepts, risks and behavior of German members of parliament

Böning, Deike 15 April 2014 (has links)
