Laserinkopplingselement För XFEL Laser Heater : Från Idé Till Färdig Produkt I Designstadie

Abujheisha, Belal January 2011 (has links)
Uppsala University is involved in a large international collaborationto build the Laser heater system for the European Xray Free-electronlaser in Hamburg, Germany. In this thesis I describe a laser incouplingdevice into the vacuum chamber of this laser heater all the way fromthe specifications to a completed design. The laser heater is a very important part of the XFEL and thepart described here is a part of the vacuum system needed to couplean external laser into the electron vacuum system and align it withthe electron bunches in order to heat them. The task was started by studying the literature about the basic theory andthe design of vacuum systems. After this study and collection of ideaswith colleagues I started to prepare different concepts to solve thetask. The ideas can be put into two categories, in one case the couplingmirror is located inside the vacuum chamber and in the second caseoutside. The concepts were evaluated with colleagues from the physicsdepartment and one solution from each category was evaluated further. The work continued to develop and refine these concpets. During the workseveral obstacles appeared, the biggest one was that with the 'inside'concept some of the design constraints had to be disregarded, butduring further work the design was adapted and the problems weremostly solved. The concept with the mirror outside the vacuumchamber was succesfuland the design was completed. In this thesis SolidWorks was used for the design work of thedifferent concepts and all parts that are part of the icouplingelement for the XFEL laser heater. All drawings are generated inSolidWorks as well and are attached to this report.

Regnbågsfamiljers upplevelse av bibliotekens bilderboksbestånd / Rainbow families experiences of libraries picture books collection

Ljunggren, Caroline, Perman, Lovisa January 2024 (has links)
The aim of this master’s thesis is to develop knowledge about rainbow families self-perceived family identity in relations too their experience of the library's picture book collection. The lack of research about rainbow families’ experiences of the picture book collection and the undertaking of lgbtq-perspectives of the library motivates this study. This quality study was based on a web survey and was answered by adults of rainbow families. The empirical data was analyzed through thematic analysis and theoretical framework drawn from Axel Honneth’s theory of recognition and the notion of literature as mirrors and windows as understood by Rudine Sims Bishop. Recognition is seen as necessary for the positive develop of identity and is based on the notion that every human needs recognition from others to obtain a positive relationship with self. The result shows that the picture book collection is perceived positively and valuable and can allow recognition when aspects of representation, diversity and awareness of norms are reflected in the collection and included in the work of the library. These aspects include representation of rainbow families and lgbtq-identities, inclusion of diversity, and awareness of social norms regarding families and gender. The result also acknowledge that the rainbow families experience somewhat lack of representation, diversity, and awareness of norms in the collection which affects the strengthening of the identity. The self-perceived family identity can be seen strengthen when the families wishes regarding representation, diversity and norms are meet in the library’s work with the picture book collection.

The tool, the practice and the spatial experience. : Methods for exploring space.

Emricson, Matilda January 2017 (has links)
The tool, the practice and the spatial experience. Painting to see the room Drill a small, almost invisible hole in the center of the canvas and see the room through it. / Painting to see the room Drill a small, almost invisible hole in the center of the canvas and see the room through it. Grapefruit: A Book of Instructions and Drawings by Yoko Ono In this project I have designed and built a set of analog tools that can be used to explore a space. I have been looking into how the objects make us see new qualities in the architecture and give us understandings about our relationship to the space. The elements I have worked with are frames, mirrors and tubes that in different ways cut, shift, create distances or access in the space. I am sharing my findings through illustrations, inspired by both comics and architecture representation. With the drawings I want to stimulate the debate and create an awareness on how we experience spaces and architecture.

Beyond the skin

Eriksson, Sofia January 2018 (has links)
This paper presents an investigation in stages of transformation between body and ornament to show upon their fluid relationship and their role for the creation of human identity. I see the act of adorning the body as an act of desire, in which we take part to become something more elevated than our original state of being. I use my background as a jeweller and the body as the territory for investigating these acts of transformation. Through material explorations I examine how we mirror ourselves in the things we make and how we reinvent our bodies through making. I compare the role of the maker with the scientist and discuss the increased interest in the body and its relation to a more and more virtual reality. I make links between ancient body modifications and human enhancement within new technology and throughout the paper I discuss my work in relation to other artists work and theorists relating to visual practices.

Yasdani, Sarah Maria January 2020 (has links)

Novel beam shaping and computer vision methods for laser beam welding

Mi, Yongcui January 2021 (has links)
Laser beam welding has been widely applied in different industrial sectors due to its unique advantages. However, there are still challenges, such as beam positioning in T-joint welding, and gap bridging in butt joint welding, especially in the case of varying gap width along a joint. It is expected that enabling more advanced control to a welding system, and obtaining more in-depth process knowledge could help to solve these issues. The aim of this work is to address such welding issues by a laser beam shaping technology using a novel deformable mirror together with computer vision methods and also to increase knowledge about the benefits and limitations with this approach. Beam shaping in this work was realized by a novel deformable mirror system integrated into an industrial processing optics. Together with a wave front sensor, a controlled adaptive beam shaping system was formed with a response time of 10 ms. The processes were monitored by a coaxial camera with selected filters and passive or active illumination. Conduction mode autogenous bead-on-plate welding and butt joint welding experiments have been used to understand the effect of beam shaping on the melt pool geometry. Circular Gaussian, and elliptical Gaussian shapes elongated transverse to and along the welding direction were studied. In-process melt pool images and cross section micrographs of the weld seams/beads were analyzed. The results showed that the melt pool geometry can be significantly modified by beam shaping using the deformable mirror. T-joint welding with different beam offset deviations relative to the center of the joint line was conducted to study the potential of using machine learning to track the process state. The results showed that machine learning can reach sufficient detection and estimation performance, which could also be used for on-line control. In addition, in-process and multidimensional data were accurately acquired using computer vision methods. These data reveal weaknesses of current thermo-fluid simulation model, which in turn can help to better understand and control laser beam welding. The obtained results in this work shows a huge potential in using the proposed methods to solve relevant challenges in laser beam welding.
