Paulo, examining the traces of the intertextuality. The research aims at contributing to the studies of texts, verifying how intertextual processes can determine the production of meaning. In order to achieve that, we have grounded the dissertation in the light of bakhtinian studies, Text Linguistic and Discourse Analysis. Considering that a text is composed by others texts and at the same time is part in the other texts, the identification of the intertexture is important to produce the meaning in the chronicle reading. The analysis was carried out so as to contemplate theoretical analytical procedures. In this sense, the cognitive principles attached to others stand out. The results obtained have evidenced that the reader must activate his previous knowledge and identify the intertextuallity to build the main idea in the opinion sections reading. All the procedure of this research proves that the development of the studies about intertextuallity can no longer be conceived of pure texts or of unbiased authorship / A presente dissertação tem por objetivo estudar as crônicas esportivas do caderno de esporte do jornal Folha de S. Paulo, examinando as marcas de intertextualidade que ocorrem no texto dos cronistas José Geraldo Couto, Tostão (Eduardo Gonçalves de Andrade), José Roberto Torero Fernandes Júnior, Juca Kfouri (José Carlos Amaral Kfouri) e Xico Sá. A análise procura contemplar procedimentos teórico-analíticos.

Another Anna and the new step of Thomas : A discourse analysis covering the altered representation by swedish newspapers of Anna Holmlund and Thomas Fogdö following disabilities

Norell, Jesper, Storfors, Lina January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this thesis was to examine how the media representation of elite skiers Anna Holmlund and Thomas Fogdö was altered following their accidents resulting in disabilities. In order to examine this a critical discourse analysis was performed on 16 newspaper articles from Tidningarnas Telegrambyrå, Expressen, Dagens Nyheter, Göteborgs-posten, Sundsvalls Tidning and Aftonbladet, out of which eight of them had been published before the skiers respective accidents and the other eight afterwards. The results showed that swedish newspapers shifted their focus from how the skiers performed in competitions prior to their accidents to how their bodies functioned and how they would perform everyday tasks following the accidents. We found that this would distance Holmlund and Fogdö, representing them as deviants when compared to non-disabled people. In contrast to this we found that Holmlund and Fogdö would be allowed to talk about or show their lives and bodies in great detail. This would seem to function as a way of teaching non-disabled people of what it’s like to live with a disability. Through this Holmlund and Fogdö were represented as ambassadors for the disabled collective. We also found that there was a risk of objectification which would increase in connection with a decrease in Holmlund and Fogdö’s represented ability to communicate and function as a non-disabled person does. This also appears to increase the risk of having one’s voice excluded by other people talking in one’s place.

Étude des circonstances permettant à des enseignants novices d'éducation physique et sportive de se former à l'enseignement à partir d'expériences de pratiquant dans les activités physiques, sportives et artistiques / Study of the circumstances enabling physical education and sports novice teachers to train themselves in teaching from experiences of practitioners in physical, sports and artistic activities

Dastugue, Laurent 05 December 2017 (has links)
While the principle of an alternation between the different temporalities of initial teacher training is noted as a necessity, many studies point to a "break" between the experiences experienced by novice teachers (NT) in the university center and the experiments the school (Chaliès, Cartaut, Escalié and Durand, 2009). In order to answer this question, two guidelines for the development of alternance training schemes are proposed. The first is to "shift the center of gravity" (Zeichner, 2006) from the training to the school. The second is to move the center of gravity of the training towards the university center and propose to the NT devices that place professionalization at the center of the contributions. Paradoxically, the practice of physical, sports and artistic activities (PSAA) in the initial professional training of physical education and sports (PES) teachers is never questioned in this second orientation. Few studies have studied how to organize the theoretical-practical lessons of PSAA so that they effectively contribute to the professionalization of NT.This study was carried out on the basis of a usual training system for PES NT. Based on a research program carried out in cultural anthropology (Chaliès and Bertone, 2017), a first transformative device was implemented in order to enable the PES NT to exploit their experiences of PSAA practice during their teaching of this PSAA to students of university. From the results obtained, a second transformation was carried out. It was designed to enable PES NT to use teaching-related experiences in which their PSAA practice experiences were integrated to be able to teach PSAA to students. This twofold transformation was intended to (in)validate two auxiliary hypotheses related to the teaching of PES NT from practitioner experiences in PSAA.The results obtained show that the transformations initiated enabled the NT to engage in a teaching activity in charge of normative experiments located (NEL) followed as a practitioner. More specifically, they demonstrate the need for NT to learn NEL about teaching and to be accompanied by a trainer in the NEL "susbtrafication" process followed as practitioners in NEL followed by as a teacher. Finally, a proposal for the design of a vocational training system for PES NT is carried out.

Post democratic urban regeneration in South Africa. The case of eThekwini Municipality inner city.

Stephanus, Maresce. January 2013 (has links)
This dissertation aimed at establishing the extent to which eThekwini Municipality aligned its Inner City projects to principles for urban regeneration and spatial planning objectives as outlined in the City’s Integrated Development Plan. The study makes reference to two distinctive inner city precincts; examining what led to current state of each precinct, through political, economic, environmental and social transformation. The Central Business District is looked at as a prime example of a degenerated space within the city and the Kings Park Sporting Precinct is looked at as an example of a successful regeneration endeavour within Durban. Information was obtained through primary and secondary sources. The bulk of the information gathered was through key informant interviews, shop keeper interviews, site visits, official reports and from eThekwini Municipality Shape File Data on the Geographical Information System. Through the analysis of data collected, the study found that eThekwini Municipality’s efforts to regenerate the Durban CBD have not been successful to date. The CBD is still in a severe state of urban decay with sustainable development only occurring in areas that are controlled by the elite. The study also found that the Kings Park Sporting Precinct has undergone extensive regeneration and proves to be a great asset to Durban for present and future generations. Its success however, also carries social challenges with the common perception that the precinct is an exclusive space. Almost 20 years post democracy, the eThekwini Municipality, is still struggling to maintain the integrity of its Inner City. Parts of the Inner City have improved but there and other parts that are still subject to extreme urban decay. The study makes recommendations for the economic, environmental and social improvement of the Durban CBD and for the social enhancement of the Kings Park Sporting Precinct. / M.T.R.P. Beyond child labour in Pakistan's soccer ball industry : hard times in imperial space

Khan, Farzad Rafi January 2004 (has links)
Developing countries and the poor within them (i.e., the other) receive scant attention in management and organization studies (MOS). The field, thus, suffers from both ethnocentric and class biases. This research effort seeks to reduce these biases, particularly in the conversation on power taking place between MOS' critical management studies and interorganizational collaboration research streams. / Articulating a case study of the Sialkot soccer ball child labour project in Pakistan (1995-2003), the thesis explores the communication constraints that are faced by weak actors in interorganizational domains (a social problem and a set of organizations having a stake or interest in that problem) located in the developing world. Relying on both written documents (private and public) and field interviews, especially with women soccer ball stitchers at the village level, a typology of communication constraints is developed. These constraints are examined from the perspectives of those at the bottom of the international supply chain and the injuries these groups suffer from them are documented in the thesis. It is found that the ability of weak actors to use communication to influence a domain is highly contingent on how space and time are configured in a domain. Domains have temporal rhythms and spatial configurations. The thesis identifies two types of temporal rhythms (technocratic and subsistence clocks) and a spatial configuration (imperial space) that severely militate against weak actors exercising agency in a domain through communication. Strategies (e.g., emergent collective struggle) that can prevent weak actors from becoming subalternalized (voiceless) in a domain are also discussed. The case study permits an investigation of contemporary transnational activism that often sires interorganizational collaboration projects in developing countries. The thesis identifies two types of transnational activism (thick and thin), delineates the various elements constituting them, and shows how thin activism can lead to interorganizational projects hurting weak and powerless groups that are intended to be assisted.

This movement encourages the emergence of new consumers with significant purchasing power, as the lower classes of society, seen as the first part in this process. The companies then begin to develop strategies to attract this audience, studying their behavior in consumption. The use of strong brands will be highlighted. The segment of sports shoes, especially the tennis, with an annual growth of 8% and production of 80 million pairs per year, is a strong example. Based on this scenario, this dissertation aimed to understand the importance of brand in the decision to purchase the products of the category of sporting footwear for consumers of the classes C and D. Thus, we examined bibliographies in consumer behavior and the attributes considered in the decision to buy, in particular the importance of brand. Data were collected on the low income population in Brazil and their buying behavior, and the market of sporting footwear. Interviews were conducted with ten consumers belonging to the public in order to know their habits of consumption and use of tennis, and the participation of the brand in the process of their decision to purchase. Thus, one can see that this is preferred by the public as tennis shoes which can be used on all occasions. The brand is the main attribute to purchase this product, being more important than price or place of purchase. It is the guarantee of quality, but further analysis is also used as a strong factor of social intraclass distinction, receiving a strong influence of the media and celebrities who are seen as heroes, in a process of projection of their identity.

The mega-international events differ greatly in their purposes, which may be economic, political, environmental, cultural, tourism, sports etc.. Whatever your goals, the essence of all is to host them successfully, providing security to people who participate. These events represent a great opportunity for the city and the country that hosts them, because they allow the promotion of worldwide cultural and tourist potential, but on the other hand, responsibility is a big challenge for the authorities involved in the organization. This paper addresses the issue of public safety in the State of Rio de Janeiro, before the realization of the coming international events including the 2014 World Cup and the Olympics in 2016. The main goal that guided this research was to identify the factors necessary to build a common agenda to guide the work matrix of security in planning these events. To this end, we conducted an extensive literature search, interviews and observation to collect information. We conclude that these factors are: the integration between governments (federal, state and local), the integration of all communities and civil society, the responsibilities of planning, prior knowledge of the preceding scenarios, cooperation with national and international institutions, budget management and participation of logistics resources.

A psycho-educational curriculum for sport career transition practitioners : development and evaluation

Hong, Hee Jung January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to extend sport career transition knowledge by developing and evaluating a psycho-educational curriculum for sport career transition practitioners. Study 1 provides an extensive overview of organisational intervention programmes for sport career transition, as well as of training and development programmes for sport career transition practitioners from 19 countries worldwide. The purpose of Study 1 was to examine the following five features of sport career transition organisational intervention programmes and training and development programmes for sport career transition practitioners: 1) At the government level, which organisation is responsible for the delivery of sport career transition organisational intervention programmes? 2) What is the typical strategy of sport career transition organisational intervention programmes? 3) Which activities and events are included in sport career transition organisational intervention programmes? 4) Who is responsible for the delivery of sport career transition organisational intervention programmes? and 5) Do sporting organisations have training and development programmes for sport career transition practitioners? Findings from Study 1 were used to inform Study 2 and to supplement the literature review. According to the literature, training and development programmes for sport career transition practitioners remain scarce, while the number of sport career transition organisational intervention programmes is gradually increasing. The purpose of Study 2 was to develop and evaluate a novel psycho-educational curriculum for sport career transition practitioners. There were three stages of development and evaluation: (1) content development, (2) curriculum design and (3) curriculum evaluation. To achieve the goal of Study 2, a focus group and a two-round Delphi method were implemented. The final version of the psycho-educational curriculum is presented in Chapter 5. The purpose of Study 3 was to test a key aspect of the psycho-educational curriculum developed in Study 2 concerning 38 competences of sport career transition practitioners. A curriculum package consisting in the key parts from the overall curriculum was developed for Study 3. The findings revealed that the curriculum package positively affected the confidence of the study participants in 38 competences concerning sport career transition. This demonstrates that the curriculum is effective for the development of sport career transition practitioners, as the study participants exhibited greater confidence on all four factorsDual Career Transition Management, Skill Transfer, Social Support, and Career Planningwhen completing the curriculum package. The discussion in Chapter 7 focuses on both the theoretical and practical implications of the research, limitations and future research directions. In conclusion, the findings presented here deepen the knowledge of sport career transition in the areas of organisational intervention programmes for high performance athletes and training and development programmes for sport career transition practitioners. In addition, a novel psycho-educational curriculum for sport career transition practitioners is developed and evaluated.
