Stadien der Veränderung in der stationären Alkoholentwöhnungstherapie / Stages of Change in Alcohol Inpatient TreatmentHoyer, Jürgen, Heidenreich, Thomas, Fecht, Jens, Lauterbach, Wolf, Schneider, Ralf 10 February 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Aim: The validity of the ”Stages of Change” approach was tested in alcohol inpatient long-term treatment.
Methods: Reliability, factor structure, and construct validity of the University of Rhode Island Change Assessment Scale (URICA, German version) was examined using cross-sectional (N = 265) and longitudinal data (N = 108).
Results: Scale reliability proved to be satisfying, except for the precontemplation scale. Factorial validity was insufficient for the contemplation and the maintenance scale. Cluster analyses revealed a threecluster solution not in accordance with the model and included a cluster of ”uninvolved patients”. URICA-scores were correlated with therapy motivation, but predictive validity with respect to duration of treatment and prediction of relapse was not confirmed.
Conclusions: The model proved to be of heuristic value but is not yet a valid basis for practical decisions. Models which are directed more specifically towards a particular treatment group or setting are expected to be more successful. Aging Mother & / #8211 / Adult Daughter Relationship Solidarity, Conflict, Ambivalence, Typology And Variations In TimeMottram Alicli, Sanem 01 January 2003 (has links) (PDF)
Using qualitative analysis, this thesis analyzes intergenerational support, conflict, and ambivalence between aging mothers and their middle aged adult daughters. In-depth interviews with 30 mother-daughter pairs explored respondents& / #8217 / relationship history, changes in the relationship over the life course (childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, marriage of daughter, parenthood of daughter, widowhood of mother), social network composition, frequency of contact, expectations, type and frequency of intergenerational support, intimacy, compliance, conflict or disagreement, and comparison of self with the other party in terms of parenting styles and filial behaviors. Moreover, similarities and differences in the personalities of mother-daughter dyads were investigated from both mothers and daughters perspective. Participants reported that, there is an ample amount of intergenerational support between aging mothers and their adult daughters. Conflicts between mother-daughter pairs arise from interference, irritating personality traits and behaviors and differing views. Daughters experience more ambivalent feelings than mothers in their relationship. Both parties employ passive and secondary relationship maintenance tactics with the goal of preserving relationship harmony. Three distinct types of mother-daughter relationship emerged: close/peaceful, ambivalent and distant. Mother-daughter relationships have undergone transformations with life stages: daughters& / #8217 / marriage, daughters& / #8217 / parenthood, mothers& / #8217 / aging and declining health and mothers& / #8217 / widowhood. Effects of certain historical events and social changes emerged from the study. The research findings were discussed with reference to Turkish cultural characteristics and they were compared with Western research findings.

Performance of sunflower in different sowing times of northwest region in Rio Grande do Sul.Cadorin, Antonio Mauro Rodrigues 27 August 2010 (has links)
Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / The production of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) in Brazil is booming, in emphasis there is the south with an acreage of 17% with the oilseed. The performance of sunflower is directly related to the choice about many factors like sowing date, genotype, the appropriate management and soil fertility, crop rotation, crop succession and especially environmental factors. This culture adapts to different soil and edaphoclimatic conditions and can be cultivated in almost all over Brazil. On this basis, the aim of this work was to evaluate the cultivation environment influence and sowing
date on phonology and morphology traits of sunflower. Besides identifying the main stages of culture development within sowing dates tested. It also aimed to build a model based on multiple linear regression equations that express the growth of sunflower under field conditions. And this
way can be used as a tool to estimate the potential yield of sunflower to the Northwestern of RS, based on the projection of meteorological variables for the period and management since the establishment to harvest this important oilseed. For this, was evaluated the genotypes Hélio 250, 251, 358, 884 and 885 in the 2008-09 harvest and genotypes Hélio 250, 251, 253, 360, 211, and
HLA 211, and Paraíso 33 in the 2009-10 harvest in three seasons (August, October and December). The experiment was conducted in Random Block Complete with four replications on the UFSM Campus in Frederico Westphalen, in Northwestern Brazil. The morphological traits measured were plant height, chapter size, a thousand seeds weight and yield. Phenological characters were days of sowing emergence (S-E), days from emergence to early flowering (E-FI) days from initial flowering to full flowering (FI-FP) and days of full flowering to physiological maturity (FP-MF). Individual analysis and combined and the averages compared by Tukey test at 5% were realized. The models estimated form multiple linear regression equations, using, the method Backward in the 5% level of error probability. The independent variables in models of
entry were: TM, Tmin, Tmax, PP and GD of each phonologic stage. The phonologic stage and yield were the dependent variables. Based on results, concludes that the morphological traits plant height, is influenced by the environment and sowing dates, for the chapter size there is the environment influence and was found that the yield has positively answers to environmental conditions and sowing times. For the studied phonological traits also occurs influence of environmental conditions and sowing date. With the exception onset flowering to full flowering
witch presents no interference form the sowing time. When evaluated the agrometeorological variables interference, we can say that there was no interaction between them and the dependent variables, it can be said that the thermal plus and the maximum and minimum temperatures are
crucial for the phonological sub-stages of sunflower, been the achene yield influenced just for the thermal plus for the sub-stages form sowing to emergence and since this with the initial flowering and full flowering. About the sowing stages, the August present an increase of the plant cycle, while in the December suggests a cycle reduction, and that the sowing in October is the culture preferred phase to Northwestern region of the RS.
As variáveis

Previous issue date: 2015 / The dwarf cashew apple (Anacardium occidentale L.) is a tropical plant, originated in Brazil, which is fruit species with high potential for fresh consumption and for industrial processing. With the discovery of bioactive compounds in the cashew apple are necessary studies of the activity of enzymes of the synthesis of phenolic compounds, such as phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL), UDP-glucose: trans-cinnamate β-D-glycosyltransferase (UGT), flavonol synthase (FLS) and leucoanthocyanidin reductase (LAR). Soon, this study aimed to determine the activity of these enzymes in CCP 76 and BRS 189 dwarf cashew clones in three different stages of maturation, and to establish the phenolic profile in these stages. Reaction products were identified and quantified by LC-DAD. PAL activity decreases with maturation for dwarf cashew clones. UGT enzyme in the CCP 76 clone stage 4 showed the highest enzyme specific activity than in other stages of development for that clone. Whereas BRS 189 clone, the highest activity was in the mature cashew apple. Quercetin synthesis was evidenced in stage 4 for the two clones analyzed. The enzymes involved in the metabolism phenolic behave differently, showing the complexity of this biosynthetic pathway that varies between clones and during the development of cashew apple. Further studies, with mass spectrometer linked HPLC, will elucidate the profile of the compounds present in cashews apple lyophilized for chemical characterization of these in different stages of maturation. Therefore, the understanding of the enzymatic metabolism between the clones and during cashew apple development represent a real potential for the development of new products with functional properties and promotion of human health.

Introduction: Since the socioeconomic trajectory can influence on individual health during the life course, we aimed to test a model of life course socioeconomic effects on tooth loss, chronic disease and Oral Health Related to Quality of Life. Method: This population-based study (n = 433) was held in Porto Alegre between 2010 and 2012 with the Public Health (PH) users aged 18 or over. The observable variables were: gender, age, smoking and number of teeth. Latent variables were Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP), Socioeconomic Status in Childhood (SESC) Socioeconomic Status in Adulthood (SESA) and Chronic Disease (CD). Statistical analysis was performed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Mplus software. For the final model only significant associations were kept (p<0.30). Results: The final model presented an adequate fit: RMSA 0.039, CFI 0.972, TLI 0.969 and WRMR 1.199. The effect of SESC on SESA was strong β = 0.59 (p<0.01). The direct effect of SESC on tooth loss was β = -0.08 (p = 0.19), and on chronic diseases was β = -0.14 (p = 0.10). The direct effect of SESA on tooth loss was β = -0.20 (p <0.01), and on OHIP was β = -0.14 (p = 0.05). The indirect effect of SESC on tooth loss was β = -0.12 (p = 0.02), and on OHIP was β = -0.14 (p = 0.01). The indirect effect of SESA on OHIP was β = -0.02 (p = 0.3). SESC has an indirect effect on OHIP and tooth loss via SESA, supporting the chain of effects theory. SESC and SESA have independent effects on tooth loss, supporting the accumulation theory. SESC has a direct effect on chronic diseases supporting the critical period theory. Conclusion: Investigations based on the life course approach relating to the oral health using SEM are necessary to understand the mechanisms and social determinants of health, causing inequalities.

Evaluating reliability and use of the Ages and Stages Questionnaires: Thai in northeast Thai early child care settings / Thai in northeast Thai early child care settingsSaihong, Prasong, 1974- 12 1900 (has links)
xix, 198 p. : ill. A print copy of this thesis is available through the UO Libraries. Search the library catalog for the location and call number. / Due to the lack of a screening and early identification system, preschool children who live in rural areas in Northeast Thailand have no opportunity to receive specialized educational services. Most children are identified as having disabilities at school age or older. In this study, the 24-, 30-, and 36-month intervals of the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ), a parent-completed screening system, were translated and evaluated for reliability and use in Northeast Thai early childcare settings. The study purpose was to investigate the reliability and utility of the Ages and Stages Questionnaires: Thai (ASQ: Thai). Reliability studies included an investigation of internal consistency, test-retest reliability, interobserver reliability, and comparison of differences between U.S. and Thai scores. Utility studies included surveys of satisfaction of parents/caregivers and early childcare staff as well as brief interviews with parents/caregivers and early childcare staff.
Subjects included 267 children who were 2-3 years old; 267 parents/caregivers; 49 early childcare staff; and 5 early childcare professor experts. The subjects were recruited through the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, the Faculty of Education, Mahasarakham University. Results addressing the reliability and use of ASQ: Thai were promising. Internal consistency (ρ = .58 -.89) results were adequate as well as test-retest agreement (ρ > .90). A comparison between the ASQ: Thai sample data and the U.S. normative sample found that there were some differences in range, mean, median, interquartile range, and cutoff scores. The back translation of the ASQ: Thai appeared to be adequate in comparison to the original version, as well as culturally appropriate. Early childcare staff and parents/caregivers felt that the ASQ: Thai was easy to use and understand and was culturally appropriate, and they gained knowledge about child development. Early childcare staff and parents/caregivers suggested that the ASQ: Thai should be used in early childcare settings with children when they enter the program.
Future research on the ASQ: Thai is needed. Increased study of cultural, language, and disability issues are areas for further study. / Committee in charge: Jane Squires, Chairperson, Special Education and Clinical Sciences;

FENOLOGIA E EFEITO DA UTILIZAÇÃO DE DOSES DE BORO E CÁLCIO SOBRE A PRODUÇÃO DE TOMATE ITALIANO EM DUAS ÉPOCAS DE CULTIVO / PHENOLOGY AND EFFECT OF THE USE OF DOSES OF BORON AND CALCIUM ON ITALIAN TOMATO PRODUCTION IN TWO SEASONS GROWINGZamban, Débora Turchetto 28 March 2014 (has links)
This study aimed to evaluate the cycle and the effect of calcium via floral and boron in the soil, production and occurrence of blossom-end rot in Italian tomato grown in different cropping seasons. The experiments were conducted at the field in the experimental area of the Universidade Federal of Santa Maria (UFSM), campus of Frederico Westphalen, RS, in the years 2012 and 2013. Experimental design was randomized blocks, factorial (2x2x3x3) with two hybrids tomato, two cropping seasons, the three frequencies of application of calcium, three doses of boron and four replications. The tomato hybrids were used San Vito and Netuno, with indeterminate growth habit and fruit Italian type, the first and second susceptible to blossom end rot tolerant. The cultivation was carried out in times of spring- summer and summer-autumn, the three boron doses applied were 0, 2 and 4 g.hole- 1 and the three frequencies floral application of calcium chloride 0.6 % were absent, application weekly and fortnightly. The transplanting was held on September 4, 2012 for the first season and the 26th of January 2013 for the second time. Plants were within the recommended handling techniques for culture. We evaluated the characteristics of phenology, plant height, production rates and incidence of blossom end rot. Analyzing the results it is observed that the hybrid Netuno showed higher early and most productive period, with a reduction in the incidence of blossom end rot, a higher number of fruits per plant and increased productivity. The spring-summer season showed better conditions for the development of culture, with prolongation of the cycle and increased productivity. In summer-fall acceleration occurred in the tomato crop cycle, with a decrease in productivity. The biweekly application of calcium was more effective, reducing the incidence of blossom-end rot and production of unmarketable fruits, increasing the total mass per plant and yield.

ASPECTOS RESPIRATORIOS, POSTURAIS E VOCAIS DA DOENÇA DE PARKINSON CONSIDERAÇÕES TEÓRICAS / RESPIRATORY, POSTURE AND VOCALS FEATURES IN PARKINSON´S DISEASE THEORETICAL CONSIDERATIONSFerreira, Fernanda Vargas 19 December 2008 (has links)
This study aimed to review the specialized literature on respiratory,
postural and vocal manifestations, associated to stages in Parkinson´s Disease and its
possible interrelations, as well as, aging in phonation. Method: Some researches were
carried based in articles in some databases: Lilacs, Bireme, PubMed, MedLine, Scielo
and Google Schoolar, besides books, theses, dissertations and the Internet. Results:
senescence is a physiological process to all human beings, generating anatomical and
functional changes, especially at the age of 60, as muscular atrophy, calcification of the
laryngeal cartilage, and reduction in respiratory capacity, reflecting on the voice through
changes in pitch, instability, decrease in the maximum phonation time and restriction of
vocal intensity. Parkinson´s Disease causes a series of functional alterations, e.g.,
rigidity, shaking, bradikinesia, reduction in the respiratory muscular strength, in
maximum phonation time and vocal intensity, as well as postural changes. Its
repercussions occur simultaneously, due to the muscle chains, body posture, respiratory
and, consequently, phonation. Postural deviations, as the head forward positioning,
shoulder protrusion and chest hyperciphosis are common in aging and PD and
contribute to vocal disturbances through biomechanic disadvantages, especially in the
cervical-scapular segment. Associated to postural alterations, is the decreasing in the
respiratory muscular strength, causing the chest to expand less, reduction in the lungs
volume and capacity, interfering in vocal production. There is a tendency for these
disturbances to occur more frequently and with more gravity according to the stage in
which the parkinsonian is. Conclusion: Based in the premisse that the human movement
and its disorders, as well as the comunication disturbances, from aging and neurological
diseases are interrelated by means of complex neural and muscle-skeleton nets, it
becomes essential for a better understanding of the integration of physiotherapy and
speech therapy, in order to have a complementarity, aiming the Parksonian's well-being.
