Návrh a implementace podnikového intranetového systému / Design and development of business intranet system

The design and implementation of business intranet system for Hestego s.r.o. company in attempt to enhance the quality and efficiency of internal communication, business culture and awareness of empolyees is the main focus of this thesis. Current status, limited to use of narrow-profiled information system is described as a part of analysis. Furthermore, commonly used practices in implementing business intranet, together with broadly acknowledged advantages for companies are provided. Based on the gained knowledge, a solution relying on implementing an independent intranet system utilizing database system and .NET web application is proposed. Within the practical section, company’s requirements with regards to functionality and design, conforming with provided logo guidelines are presented. As a final part of this thesis, proposed solution is implemented, documented and deployed in corporate enviroment. Moreover, the advantages of proposed solution for the company are evaluated.

Med navigering och hittbarhet i fokus : En studie om användarcentrerad design på Sundbybergs stads intranät

Denna studie undersökte interaktionsdesignen på Sundbybergs stads intranät i syfte att analysera hur olika designelement påverkar användarupplevelsen, med fokus på hittbarhet. Studien genomfördes med en kombination av intervjuer, Think Aloud-tester, enkätanalys och litteraturstudie. Med avstamp i kognitionsvetenskap baserades denna studie på teorierna om The Gulf of Execution, The Gulf of Evaluation samt gestalt- och designprinciper. Dessa teoretiska ramverk användes för att analysera och förstå användarnas interaktioner samt för att identifiera utmaningar och förbättringsområden på Sundbybergs stads intranät. Den sammanlagda analysen identifierade flera utmaningar, inklusive en otillräcklig sökfunktion, inkonsekvent kategorisering och brist på tydlig navigering. För att förbättra användbarheten på Sundbybergs stads intranät föreslogs flera åtgärder som visualiserades i ett gestaltningsförslag. Detta inkluderade en mer intuitiv navigationsstruktur och förbättrad layout av startsidan. Studien föreslog specifika designändringar, inklusive användningen av visuell hierarki, hovereffekter och en megameny för att göra gränssnittet mer intuitivt och minska den kognitiva belastningen för användarna. Genom att implementera dessa användarcentrerade designförslag kan intranätet utvecklas till att bli en förenande plattform som stödjer stadens vision om att "Sundbyberg växer med dig!" / This study investigated the interaction design of Sundbyberg's municipal intranet with the aim of analysing how various design elements affect the user experience, focusing on findability. The study was conducted using a combination of interviews, Think aloud tests, survey analysis, and a literature review. Based on cognitive science, this study drew on theories of The Gulf of Execution, The Gulf of Evaluation, as well as gestalt and design principles. These theoretical frameworks were used to analyse and understand users' interactions and to identify challenges and areas for improvement in Sundbyberg's municipal intranet. The comprehensive analysis identified several challenges, including an idadequate search function, inconsistent categorization, and a lack of clear navigation. To improve the usability of Sundbyberg's municipal intranet, several measures were proposed, visualized in a design proposal. This included a more intuitive navigation structure and an improved layout of the homepage. The study proposed specific design changes, including the use of visual hierarchy, hover effects, and a mega menu to make the interface more intuitive and reduce cognitive load for users. By implementing these user-centered design proposals, the intranet can be developed into a unifying platform that supports the city's vision of "Sundbyberg grows with you!"

Un intranet permet de déployer les applications client-serveur sur l'ensemble des postes de l'entreprise. Il concerne cependant des centaines de personnes, peu familières des technologies et de l'approche hypertexte. Les problèmes de cohérence et de persistance des liens, des modèles de documents, des feuilles de style, d'administration et d'exploitation de l'ensemble, s'avèrent alors d'une acuité inconnue sur l'Internet. RICERCAR est un système réflexif qui modélise, grâce à des outils " standards ", les objets de l'utilisateur mais aussi les siens propres dans une fédération de bases de données réparties et synchronisées. Les identifiants de ces objets sont alors utilisés pour implémenter des URL stables qui assurent la cohérence globale de l'intranet. L'architecture modulaire du système offre une interface applicative permettant de l'étendre rapidement en y intégrant des données d'entreprise lesquelles, s'appuyant sur le noyau commun, bénéficient alors de la cohérence d'ensemble ainsi que des différents outils d'administration et de métrologie.

Problematika využívání moderních technologií při vedení mateřské školy / Issue of the use of modern technologies in managing the current kindergarten

The thesis is concerned with the use of computers and ICT technology in nursery schools in the Czech Republic, those in particular where children have the opportunity to work with Kid Smart computers. The assignment should chart and analyze the information and communication literacy of school directors, to document available ICT technologies suitable for nursery schools, and define potential barriers that prevent their wider usage and to propose measures to directors that would lead to a gradual overcoming of these issues. A comparison with the situation abroad includes schools in Iceland and Portugal. A portion of this thesis deals with research regarding this topic and its subsequent evaluation. The assignment should provide directors with a well arranged description of available ICT for nursery schools and should familiarize them with the appropriate software for managing administration.

Denna uppsats utgångspunkt är att undersöka intranätets möjliga påverkan på anställdas identitetsskapande där syftet är att undersöka den roll intranätet har i form av vidmakthållande och/eller upprättande av organisationsidentiteten. Detta görs genom att studera hur innehållet på intranätet genom olika kommunikationsaktiviteter och tolkningsprocesser medarbetare emellan bidrar till formningen av identiteten inom organisationen. Genom att betrakta organisationsidentitet som ett kommunikationsfenomen appliceras ett kommunikationsperspektiv på organisationer där CCO-perspektivet, genom konceptet om metakonversationer, utgör det centrala teoretiska ramverket. För denna undersökning tillämpas kvalitativa metoder. Detta görs med empiriunderlag från en fallorganisation, Försäkringskassan, där den huvudsakliga datainsamlingen består av fokusgruppsdiskussioner med medarbetare på handläggarnivå där två olika grupper undersöks. Resultaten har analyserats utifrån underliggande, kognitiva koncept och funnit att grupperna genom att agera utifrån olika synsätt på sin organisationsidentitet också väljer att ta del av olika typer av innehåll från organisationens intranät, vilket i sin tur avgör vilken roll intranätet kan anses fylla. / This thesis intends to investigate an intranet's possible impact on employee identity creation, where the aim is to study the role of the intranet in the maintenance and/or establishment of organizational identity. This is carried out by studying how published content on the intranet through various communication activities and processes of interpretation contributes to the formation of the employees’ identity within the organization. By considering organizational identity as a communication phenomenon, a communication perspective is applied to organizations where the CCO-perspective, through the concept of meta-conversations, has come to form the central theoretical framework. Qualitative methods are used for this study. The empirical findings are gathered from a case organization, Försäkringskassan, and consist of focus group discussions with administrative officials from two different groups. The results have been analyzed based on underlying cognitive concepts and indicate that the groups act based on different perceptions of their organizational identity, which have impact on what type of content they choose to take part in, something that further determines the role that the intranet can be considered to fill.

O trabalho contextualiza o portal interno Sodexo_Net, considerando o cenário em que a empresa Sodexo|Puras se encontra, analisando sua contribuição na gestão do conhecimento organizacional. Com base na fundamentação teórica, realizada através de pesquisa bibliográfica, foi realizado um estudo de caso descritivo, através de observação direta na empresa, entrevistas a executivos e pesquisa quantitativa com colaboradores da empresa, que forneceram dados para a análise de conteúdo. A dissertação aborda, como referenciais, os temas portais corporativos, estratégia e gestão do conhecimento, explorando a criação e conversão do conhecimento pelo modelo SECI (NONAKA; TAKEUCHI, 1997; 2004), e analisa os conteúdos veiculados e a percepção dos usuários sobre o portal com base em um conjunto de dimensões do conhecimento definidas a partir da literatura consultada, bem como a partir das condições para criação e conversão de conhecimento de Nonaka e Takeuchi (1997; 2004). Como resultado da pesquisa, verifica-se que a ferramenta tem potencial para apoio no suporte à implementação da estratégia da empresa, criação e gestão do conhecimento organizacional, mas precisa ter seu posicionamento e conteúdo revisto com este objetivo para ter sucesso nestas metas. Mais amplamente, observaram-se lacunas nas condições preconizadas por Nonaka e Takeuchi (1997; 2004) quanto às condições de criação e conversão de conhecimento, limitando o portal em seu potencial. / The present study aims to analyze the role of an internal website as a supporting tool to the communication of the company strategy and creation of organizational knowledge, having as its study object the tool Sodexo_Net of the company Sodexo|Puras, leader in the Brazilian market in food services and infrastructure in the client’s setting. The work contextualizes the internal intranet website Sodexo_Net, considering the scenery in which the company Sodexo|Puras is, analyzing its contribution to the organizational knowledge management. Based on the theoretical grounding, accomplished through literature research, a descriptive study case was realized through direct observation in the company, interviews with executives and quantitative research with company collaborators, who supplied data for content analysis. The paper approaches, as reference, the corporate websites themes, strategy and knowledge management, exploring the creation and knowledge conversion through the model by SECI (NONAKA; TAKEUCHI, 1997; 2004), and analyzes the contents conveyed and the perception of users about the website based on a set of knowledge dimensions defined from the literature consulted, as well as from the conditions for creation and knowledge conversion by Nonaka e Takeuchi (1997; 2004). As a result of the research, it can be seen that the tool has the potential to aid the support to implementation of the company strategy, creation and organizational knowledge management; however, it needs to have its positioning and content reviewed with this objective in order to be successful achieving goals. Widely, some blanks were observed in the conditions recommended by Nonaka and Takeuchi (1997; 2004) as to the conditions of creation and conversion of knowledge, limiting the gateway in its potential.

近幾年來,企業網路在各大小企業中蓬勃發展,因此而產生在企業網路上尋找資訊的問題。對於許多掌握其企業網路的複雜程度尚存在困難的企業來說,要從其企業網路上大量的文件中找出真正有用的、潛在的資訊與知識,誠非易事。因此有待以較深入的思考構面對於各企業的企業網路架構進行檢視,才能找出適當的資料發掘做法與技術,以解決此一難題。本研究先對資料發掘,企業網路等文獻與現況進行整理分析,並提出與企業網路複雜程度相關之參考思考構面並定義簡單型與複雜型的企業網路。然後以Han(1995)之概念樹及多層次資料庫的觀念,採用我們對於網際網路資料發掘所提出的理論架構與作法(楊亨利與金士俊,民90),特別著重企業在授權與知識視野上的思考,提出簡單型與複雜型企業網路下對資料內容發掘的架構,設計適用於簡單型與雜型企業網路之資料發掘系統,並部份實作其雛形,以驗証其可行性,並評估其日後實務操作之其他可能。 / In recent years, with the widespread use of the Intranet, Intranet data searching has become an important but problematic issue. Since a lot of enterprises still have difficulty in evaluating the complexity of their Intranet systems, it is an extremely demanding task for them to identify valid and potentially useful patterns from the huge amount of documents in the Intranet. In order to solve this problem, it is essential to take a close and careful examination of the different Intranet frameworks, so that appropriate data mining approaches and techniques can be worked out.   This research began with a literature review of the fields of data mining and Intranet applications in Taiwan. Based on the review of current theories and practices, the second part of the research focused on the dimensions which we need to consider for evaluating the complexity of Intranet systems. In the third part of the research, basic frameworks for simple and complex Intranet data mining systems were then proposed, three types of data mining approaches suitable for simple and complex Intranet systems were designed and a prototype for implementing two approaches were developed. Han’s (1995) “concept hierarchy” and “multiple layered database” and Yang & Chin’s (2000) approach of Internet data mining were adopted as the major bases. Besides, this research also paid particular attention to the issues of “authorization” and “knowledge view” when designing the software and developing the prototypes. In the last part of the research, the feasibility, practicality and potential uses of the ata mining approaches and prototype were discussed and some directions for future research were suggested.

企業特質與網際網路應用狀況之關聯 / The relationship between business characteristics and the status of internet applications

隨著網際網路在商業上應用的增加,新的技術、新的標準以及新的應用不斷的推陳出新,網際網路電子商務已成為現今資訊管理的重要課題。無疑地,網際網路電子商務吸引了各行各業的注意,但不表示各行各業對網際網路的各項應用已廣為採用,且這些應用並不表示可以產生收益。本研究將網際網路應用層面分為三類:「企業對外部個人」、「企業內部員工」、「有業務往來之企業」等三種不同的應用對象,針對國內企業,探討企業特質與是否採用任何網際網路應用的關係、企業特質與應用網際網路服務對象的關係。最後根據對國內Internet應用的調查,利用企業在各應用層面的應用與深度,找出國內企業Internet應用的應用層次。 本研究針對國內一千大企業的資訊主管,以郵寄的方式,共寄出900份問卷,回收率為20.2%,有效回收率為19.4%。現今已有75.7%的企業有Internet應用,並且有一半的企業應用Internet技術在一年之內。經資料分析後發現,採用及未採用Internet的企業兩者在最高主管的態度、組織的運作績效、及網路技術應用的熟悉度與成熟度等有顯著的差異存在。另外,Internet應用的服務對象與產業別、企業規模、組織集權程度、最高主管的態度、網路技術應用的熟悉度與成熟度、組織的運作績效等企業特質有關。 根據文獻探討所整理出的Internet應用層面,調查企業的應用情形及應用深度,歸納出「內外整合」、「內部支援」、「基本應用」等三個應用層次,並發現這三個層次的電腦化歷史及Internet的使用歷史並無顯著的差異,可知,企業電腦化的歷史或者是Internet使用的歷史與Internet應用層次無關,完全依照企業的需要,建置所需的應用。

Intranät för personliga assistenter : En studie av förutsättningar för effektiv informationshantering i vardagspraktik med stöd av IT

<p>While designing an intranet for people with mobile work there are things you have to consider. This thesis is aim to bring understanding to the difficulties involved in these kinds of situations. Our focus is to develop ideas that motivate the assistants to use the intranet. We have looked into the profession of personal assistants and wish to highlight their problems to access the intranet. And we will as well demonstrate their needs for communication. We will also give different proposals for differing technical solutions that will bring them access to the intranet.</p><p>To fulfill this intention we have performed observations and interviews. Through this we got the opportunity to take part of the situations that differs this profession from others. During our study it has shown that communication between coworkers, among other things, is important. We claim that this knowledge is important while designing an intranet for mobile professions. By providing the assistants a good intranet, we hope to give them a good resource in their everyday work.</p>

Designing Intranets for Viability : Approaching Organizational Empowerment and Participation

<p>Intranets appeared in the mid-1990s and were perceived as the answer to the need for the integration of existing Information Systems into organisations. Despite the fact that there has been extensive research regarding implementation, development processes, policies standardisation vs. creativity and so forth, the potentiality of Intranets has not been fully exploited. Intranets offer many advantages in the form of working networks that support and enable empowered employees to participate in the development of the organisation, to enable the measurement of essential functions and to monitor undesired conditions and find suitable functions that support daily work. The research approach in this thesis has alternated between analysis empirical studies, and design. Current literature, research findings in the form of articles, etc., are analysed, an empirical study of five organisations is conducted and finally a design of possible functions is accomplished. In the analysis of the state-of-the-art, current research can be grouped into four topics partly overlapping each other; questions concerning informatics, organisation theory, knowledge management, and design. Urgent issues for further research are identified as mainly belonging to the topics informatics and organisation theory; management and strategy, empowerment, further development processes, use, and roles. Findings from a study of five Swedish organisations show a need for identifying the philosophy of technology in the organisations in order to make an organisation’s view of technology common throughout the organisation. Furthermore, functions supporting daily work are lacking to a high degree. Further lacks and demands are identified, as well as potential functions and new possibilities. In the next section, the Philosophy of Technology is related to an Intranet. The discussion is based on a model which consists of the concepts Conception, Use, Technology, and Policy. Making the Philosophy of Technology common in organisations is connected to the empowerment of employees and is a guarantor, along with the influence of the VSM on the design, for the impact on and participation in the processes of an organisation. The next part deals with possible advantages of combining the cybernetic model, the Viable System Model, by Stafford Beer, and an Intranet. It is found that the VSM can support the design of Intranets according to essential functions such as Early Warning Systems connected to production units and levels that are to be made aware of undesired conditions in the organisation. Furthermore, functions for amplifying and attenuating information – both between parts of the organisation and between the organisation and the environment – are to be designed. Further examples of functions supporting the organisation, in order to make it viable, are given. The main contribution of the thesis is the identification of core functions in an Intranet as establishing functions for supervision (Early Warning Systems), attenuating and amplifying information between the organisation and the environment and between subparts in the organisation. Furthermore, the interface is to be designed so the underlying technology is “visible:” Where are the different parts of the Intranet located physically? Who delivers information to the different parts? Who uses the functions? Who is responsible? The transparency of the interface makes the philosophy of technology visible throughout the organisation; the concepts are the same, the actual use is the same as the intended use, and policy is active and well known and finally, the possibilities and the limitations with/inherent to an Intranet are known among the users.</p><p>Finally, examples of further research are given – both as regards the implementation of Intranets based on the VSM design and as regards making the interface transparent.</p>
