[pt] Muitos pesquisadores e gerentes têm se empenhado na busca pela descoberta dos fatores que afetam o sucesso dos processos de mudança organizacional. Um dos fatores mais apontados na literatura sobre este tema diz respeito à resistência à mudança por parte de alguns atores organizacionais, em especial os pertencentes aos níveis hierárquicos mais baixos. Mas como será que estes indivíduos percebem a si mesmos e aos outros num processo de mudança organizacional? Como eles percebem o conteúdo e o gerenciamento da mudança? Qual o papel da comunicação nesse contexto? O presente trabalho tem como objetivo principal aprofundar a compreensão do papel da comunicação na construção do significado para os indivíduos e grupos em mudanças planejadas, e sua relação com aspectos comportamentais apresentados por estes. Para tanto, foi conduzido um estudo de caso longitudinal em uma empresa pública da esfera federal que vem passando por um processo de intervenção organizacional na área de Tecnologia da Informação com a implantação de um sistema de gerenciamento eletrônico de documentos e do fluxo de trabalho. A metodologia da pesquisa baseou-se na triangulação de métodos, ou seja, na análise de documentos oficiais da organização, aplicação de questionários e entrevistas semi-estruturadas aos empregados em dois momentos distintos, e na observação-participante do pesquisador utilizando-se o método Pesquisa- Ação (THIOLLENT, 1997 e 2005), cuja adoção justifica-se pelo alto grau de envolvimento do autor com o projeto em estudo. Os resultados comprovam que a mudança organizacional é sensível ao aspecto relacional e temporal e que a ação e o comportamento humano nas organizações devem ser pensados como frutos da comunicação enquanto fator determinante na construção dos significados e das identidades sociais. Os resultados suscitam também alguns questionamentos acerca da problemática e conflitos vividos pelos médios gerentes num contexto de mudança e apontam para a necessidade de atentarmos para o fato de que eles são agentes, mas também são gente. / [en] A lot of researchers and managers have been trying to find the factors that affect the success of organizational change processes. One of the most mentioned factors in literature about this theme is the resistance to change on the part of some organizational actors, in special the ones belonging to the lower hierarchical levels. How these individuals realize themselves and the other in organizational change processes? How they realize the content and management of the change? What is the role of communication in a change context? This work aims to contribute to the comprehension of the communication role in the meaning construction for individuals and groups in planned organizational changes, as well as to understand its relationship with behavior aspects presented for them. For this purpose, it was conducted a longitudinal case study in a public federal organization that is performing an organizational change in the Technology of Information area: implantation of an electronic management system of documents and workflow. The research methodology was based on methods triangulation that comprehended the analysis of official organizational documents, application of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews to the employers in two different moments, and researcher participant observation by means of Action Research (THIOLLENT, 1997 and 2005) due to the high level of relationship between the researcher and the change project. The results showed that the organizational change is sensible to relational and temporal aspects and that human action and behavior in organizations should be thought as the results of communication as determinant to the meaning construction and social identity. The results also present some questionings about the conflicts experienced by middle managers in a change context and point to the necessity of realizing the fact that middle managers are change agents but they are also human beings.

[pt] Este estudo visa indicar a importância da comunicação de websites de supermercados que disponibilizam vendas on-line e concentra-se no design da interface gráfica no quesito interação com o usuário, intrinsecamente ligada ao uso de signos. / [en] This study aims to show the importance of commnication when designing websites for supermarkets that offer on- line purchases and concentrates on the graphic interface, mainly regarding the user interaction, intrinsically connected to the use of signs.

[pt] A comunicação, concebida como fenômeno intersubjetivo, tecida nas intersecções dos espaços psíquicos comuns e partilhados, revela-se fundamental para a construção do psiquismo. Como noção, a centralidade da comunicação mostra-se inegável na teoria e na técnica psicanalítica desde os seus primórdios. Neste trabalho, buscou-se investigar as origens do conceito de comunicação na teoria psicanalítica, argumentando tratar-se de uma noção sustentada pelo paradigma da intersubjetividade. Esta tese é estruturada em quatro eixos e apresentada em quatro artigos. No primeiro eixo, propõe-se a explicitação da trajetória freudiana em torno da noção de comunicação, desde suas propostas mais voltadas para a construção de um modelo de aparelho psíquico até considerações que fornecem as bases para os primórdios de uma teoria da intersubjetividade. No segundo, discute-se a noção de comunicação para D. Winnicott, tendo em vista suas propostas remetidas à teoria da intersubjetividade, sobretudo a partir da relação mãe-bebê. No terceiro, buscou-se explicitar e discutir as contribuições de S. Ferenczi sobre a comunicação em uma perspectiva intersubjetiva a partir do conceito de sintonia afetiva. No quarto, buscou-se evidenciar as bases da comunicação na família a partir dos conceitos de aparelho psíquico grupal e familiar, ambos constituídos intersubjetivamente. A partir deste percurso, evidencia-se que a noção de comunicação, do ponto de vista psicanalítico, é construída e sustentada na intersubjetividade. / [en] Communication, conceived as an intersubjective phenomenon, woven in the intersections of common and shared psychic spaces, proves to be fundamental for the construction of the psyche. As a notion, the centrality of communication has been undeniable in psychoanalytic theory and technique since its beginnings. In this work, we sought to investigate the origins of the concept of communication in psychoanalytic theory, arguing that it is a notion supported by the paradigm of intersubjectivity. This thesis is structured in four axes and presented in four articles. In the first axis, it is proposed to explain the Freudian trajectory around the notion of communication, from its proposals more focused on the construction of a psychic apparatus model to considerations that provide the basis for the beginnings of a theory of intersubjectivity. In the second, the notion of communication for D. Winnicott is discussed, considering his proposals referring to the theory of intersubjectivity, especially from the mother-baby relationship. In the third one, S. Ferenczi s contributions on communication in an intersubjective perspective based on the concept of affective tuning were explained and discussed. In the fourth, it was tried to evidence the bases of the communication in the family from the concepts of group and familiar psychic apparatus, both constituted intersubjectively. From this path, it is evident that the notion of communication, from the psychoanalytic point of view, is constructed and sustained in the intersubjectivity.

[pt] Linguagens de programação dinâmicas estão cada vez mais populares e já foram utilizadas para desenvolver uma ampla gama de aplicações. Enquanto isso, processadores multi-núcleo se tornaram padrão, mesmo em computadores pessoais e dispositivos móveis. Dessa forma, os programadores precisam recorrer ao paralelismo para aprimorar o desempenho de seus programas. Entretanto, a programação concorrente permanece difícil. Adicionalmente, a despeito de avanços em linguagens estáticas, avaliamos que linguagens dinâmicas ainda carecem de suporte adequado à concorrência. Nesta tese argumentamos que o principal problema da programação concorrente é a imprevisibilidade - comportamentos inesperados de programas, tais como retornar valores descabidos. Observamos que a imprevisibilidade é mais provável quando memória compartilhada é utilizada. Consequentemente, propomos um modelo de comunicação para concorrência que visa disciplinar o compartilhamento de memória em linguagens dinâmicas. O modelo é baseado nos padrões emergentes de concorrência de não compartilhar dados por padrão, imutabilidade de dados e tipos e efeitos (que transformamos em capacidades). Ele demanda a utilização de objetos compartilháveis para compartilhar dados e utiliza troca de mensagens para comunicação entre fluxos de execução. Objetos compartilháveis podem ser compartilhados apenas para leitura ou para leitura e escrita, o que permite acesso individual de escrita e acessos paralelos de leitura. Implementamos um protótipo em Lua para experimentar com o modelo na prática, bem como para conduzir uma avaliação geral de desempenho. A avaliação demonstra que há benefícios na utilização de memória compartilhada, mas ao mesmo tempo revela que os controles utilizados para assegurar a disciplina ocasionam um impacto de desempenho. / [en] Dynamic programming languages have become increasingly popular and have been used to implement a range of applications. Meanwhile, multicore processors have become the norm, even for desktop computers and mobile devices. Therefore, programmers must turn to parallelism as a means to improve performance. However, concurrent programming remains difficult. Besides, despite improvements in static languages, we find dynamic languages are still lacking in concurrency support. In this thesis, we argue that the main problem with concurrent programming is unpredictability - unexpected program behaviors, such as returning out-of-thin-air values. We observe that unpredictability is most likely to happen when shared memory is used. Consequently, we propose a concurrency communication model to discipline shared memory in dynamic languages. The model is based on the emerging concurrency patterns of not sharing data by default, data immutability, and types and effects (which we turn into capabilities). It mandates the use of shareable objects to share data. Besides, it establishes that the only means to share a shareable object is to use message passing. Shareable objects can be shared as read-write or read-only, which allows both individual read-write access and parallel read-only access to data. We implemented a prototype in Lua, called luashare, to experiment with the model in practice, as well as to carry out a general performance evaluation. The evaluation showed us that safe data sharing makes it easier to allow for communication among threads. Besides, there are situations where copying data around is simply not an option. However, enforcing control over shareable objects has a performance cost, in particular when working with nested objects.

[pt] Discussões a respeito da comunicação entre os homens e da diversidade linguística perpassam a história. É possível afirmar que Platão (427 - 347 a.C) e Aristóteles (384 - 322 a.C) instigaram filósofos e linguistas a buscar incessantemente explicações para a variedade de línguas existentes no mundo, bem como a investigar suas origens e características em comum. A obsessão por encontrar a língua que teria dado origem a todas as outras línguas não cessou, como também não cessou o desejo de retorno a esta primeira língua. Este desejo faz com que filósofos e linguistas há muito venham sustentando a criação e utilização de uma língua única. Esta possibilitaria a comunicação universal entre os homens independentemente de onde estes tivessem nascido, da cultura a que pertencessem ou da língua materna que falassem. Em outras palavras, poderia haver uma comunicação livre e democrática. Consequentemente, o acesso aos saberes também seria livre, o que daria lugar à concretização de uma das ambições do projeto iluminista: o esclarecimento do homem a partir da sua própria capacidade de conhecer o real de forma autônoma. Tomando como ponto de partida essas questões, foi realizado um estudo histórico que teve como objetivo principal investigar os caminhos que a busca de uma língua única de comunicação vem seguindo desde o Iluminismo até a contemporaneidade, principalmente após o advento da Internet. Para tal, esta investigação tem início com a concepção de Kant sobre o Iluminismo, seguida das ideias de dois de seus contemporâneos, Condorcet e Condillac, escolhidos por sugerirem o uso de uma língua universal como alternativa para o esclarecimento humano. O estudo prossegue com uma breve descrição dos projetos de língua universal dos séculos XIX e início do século XX e apresenta as razões para os seus fracassos; passa posteriormente pela segunda metade do século XX e pela tentativa de se fazer da língua inglesa a língua única de comunicação no mundo; finalmente, chega à Revolução Digital. Nesta última fase, o debate concernente à comunicação livre, independentemente da língua, e ao acesso irrestrito ao conhecimento se veem reforçados com o aparecimento da terceira geração da Internet, a chamada Web Semântica, que tem reavivado os ideais dos projetos iluministas e mostrado ser um caminho possível para a comunicação universal e o esclarecimento humano. / [en] Since the beginning of times there have been discussions about linguistic diversity and the communication among men. One can easily say that Plato (427 - 347 b.c) and Aristotle (384 - 322 b.c) led both linguists and philosophers to constantly search for explanations concerning the origins and common characteristics of the many languages that exist in the world. It seems that the obsession to find the one language from which all others are supposed to derive still persists, as does the desire to return to it. This is the reason why philosophers and linguists fundamentally support the development and use of a single language. Such a language would make possible the communication among men on a universal level, irrespective of their birth place, culture or mother tongue. In other words, a free and democratic communication could take place and there would also be free access to knowledge. One of the Enlightenment`s ambitions could therefore be achieved: men would be able to perceive reality autonomously. Taking those issues as a starting point, a historical study was developed to investigate the search for a single language, from the Enlightenment until contemporary times, particularly after the advent of Internet. For this purpose, this study begins with Kant`s conception of Enlightenment, followed by the ideas of two of his contemporaries, Condorcet and Condillac, who suggested the use of a universal language as a means for man to reach Enlightenment. The study discusses universal language projects of the 19th and early 20th centuries and points out the reasons for their failures. It proceeds with a presentation of the attempt to make English the worldwide language of communication from the second half of the 20th century until the Digital Revolution. It argues that, at this stage, what matters is no longer the development of a single language, but of a free way of communicating, regardless of the language spoken and with unlimited access to knowledge. This is more clearly seen with the onset of the third generation of the Internet, known as the Semantic Web, which is recuperating the ideals of the Enlightenment and has been proving to be a possible way for communication on a universal level and for man`s Enlightenment.

[pt] Observar o desenvolvimento de projetos de alunos em Design é um ótimo exercício na busca afinarmos as diretrizes de uma instituição de ensino com o real processo percorrido pelos alunos. A presente pesquisa é um estudo de caso realizado com alunos da disciplina Planejamento, Projeto e Desenvolvimento - Comuicação Visual Conclusão (PPD-CV Conclusão), última disciplina de projeto do curso de Design da PUC-Rio, habilitação Comunicação Visual, pertencente ao currículo em vigor para alunos que ingressaram por vestibular até 2007. Durante o segundo semestre de 2007 e o primeiro semestre de 2008, o desenvolvimento dos projetos dos alunos da turma da professora tutora Izabel de Oliveira foi observado com o objetivo de identificar nas etapas percorridas pelos alunos, lacunas que pudessem ser trabalhadas. No processo destacamos 4 projetos que são apresentados à luz de fundamentação teórica, trazendo um olhar crítico sobre os processos percorridos pelos alunos. / [en] The development of projects by Design students is an excellent exercise when it comes to searching for the gaps to be covered in an attempt to finetune the guidelines of a teaching institution based on the real progress made by its students. This research involves a case study conducted with students of the PPD-CV Conclusion Course, the last subject in the Design course at PUC-Rio, Visual Communications Major, belonging to the curriculum prior to 2007. During the second semester of 2007 and the first semester of 2008, the researchers observed the development of the projects by students from the class of Tutor Professor Izabel de Oliveira with the objective of identifying the stages completed by the same as they develop their projects, gaps that could be worked. In order to ensure a critical perspective on the completed processes, the researchers highlight four projects that are presented based on a theoretical foundation.

[pt] Diante do atual cenário de constantes mudanças organizacionais, muitos autores têm se dedicado ao estudo e pesquisa em gerenciamento de projetos, objetivando contribuir para o processo de mudanças implementadas por meio de projetos. Partindo do pressuposto de que a comunicação é a arena na qual as pessoas e a própria organização podem criar sentido (WEICK, 1995), essa dissertação propôs-se a compreender como a comunicação é percebida pelos indivíduos e como esta afeta os processos de criação de sentido quando estes indivíduos participam de um processo de mudança organizacional provocado por um projeto de implementação de um ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning. Foi realizada uma pesquisa de campo tomando-se um projeto de implementação de ERP como estudo de caso. A comunicação do projeto foi analisada primeiramente sob uma perspectiva positivista, e posteriormente realizou-se um contraponto, no qual o presente trabalho se aprofundou, com uma perspectiva interpretativista, utilizando o modelo teórico proposto pela Escola de Montreal. Os resultados da pesquisa evidenciaram a importância do papel da comunicação como constitutiva do projeto e da própria organização (TAYLOR e CASALI, 2010). / [en] Given the current scenario of constant organizational changes, many authors have been dedicated to study and research in project management, aiming to contribute to the process of changes implemented through projects. Based on the assumption that communication is the arena in which people and the organization itself can create meaning (WEICK, 1995), this dissertation aims to understand how communication is perceived by individuals and how it affects the processes of creation of sense when these individuals participate in a process of organizational change brought about by an implementation project of an ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning. A field survey was carried out by taking an ERP implementation project as a case study. The communication of the project was analyzed first from a positivist perspective, and later a counterpoint was made, in which the present work has deepened, with an interpretative perspective, using the theoretical model proposed by the Montreal School. The results of the research evidenced the importance of the role of communication as constitutive of the project and of the organization itself (TAYLOR and CASALI, 2010).

[pt] Baseada em teorias empíricas da literatura de orientação construtivista, a tese oferece um modelo para o desenvolvimento de uma conscientização literária em vista de uma socialização literária, que leva em conta as múltiplas articulações implicadas na visão da literatura como complexo processo cultural, social e estético. Partindo do desejo de contribuir para uma nova pedagogia dos estudos de literatura, o projeto se apropria de instrumentos teóricos recentes que facultam uma crescente expansão em direção a uma perspectiva sistêmica da literatura. Neste âmbito, o modelo proposto abre novos espaços para lidar com uma variedade de fenômenos literários que se enquadram tanto na tradição canônica quanto em novas formas de entretenimento. / [en] Based on empirical theories of the constructivist oriented literature, the thesis offers a model to develop a literary consciousness given the literary socialization which accounts for the multiple articulations implied in the view of literature as a complex cultural process. Departing from the wish to contribute to a new pedagogy of the literary studies, the project uses recent theoretical instruments which authorize a crescent expansion towards a systemic perspective on literature. Is such environment, the model proposed opens new spaces to deal with a variety of literary phenomena which fit both in the canon tradition and the new entertainment modes as well.

[pt] A presente pesquisa possui como tema o estudo do design e o método de análise da direção de arte no audiovisual. Para isso, o estudo se concentra na análise das obras do diretor brasileiro Luiz Fernando Carvalho, no intuito de entender de que maneira a direção de arte vai influenciar na criação de diferentes níveis de realismo na narrativa. Os objetos de análise são as seguintes obras audiovisuais dirigidas por Carvalho: seu primeiro longa-metragem Lavoura Arcaica, as minisséries de televisão Capitu e Dois Irmãos, e o seriado televisivo Suburbia. A metodologia desenvolvida aqui tem por base uma abordagem interdisciplinar das questões, na busca por aliar aspectos distintos da área do Design, na perspectiva da Comunicação Visual, e da Comunicação, na perspectiva dos Estudos de Mídia. Partimos do pressuposto, portanto, que a perspectiva do design fornece parâmetros para a análise dos processos de direção de arte no audiovisual, que por sua vez revelam as relações entre níveis de realismo na imagem. / [en] This research has as a theme the design studies and the production design s analysis method for audiovisual. The analysis will concentrate its efforts in a case study of the products directed by Luiz Fernando Carvalho, intending to understand how the production design will interfer in the creation of levels of realism in narrative. Therefore, the objects of analysis will be the following: his first feature film Lavoura Arcaica, the miniseries Capitu and Dois Irmãos; and the TV series Suburbia. The methodology developed has an interdisciplinary approach, seeking to ally distinguished aspects of the Design area, in Visual Communication perspective, and Communication area, in Media Studies perspective. Thus, we have as an assumption that the design perspective gives parameters of analysis for production design process, which shows the relations between different levels of realism in image.

[pt] Estudos de comunicação intercultural têm, em geral, como foco os desentendimentos e insucessos nesse tipo de interação. Neste trabalho, pretendese investigar os esforços dos participantes de um encontro de serviço que usam o inglês como língua franca para serem bem sucedidos. O foco do estudo é o uso das sobreposições, tratadas sob o viés da Análise da Conversa Etnometodológica. Apesar de as sobreposições poderem funcionar como um mecanismo de tomada de turno, seguido geralmente pela tomada do piso conversacional, o uso das sobreposições, nas interações analisadas, se mostrou orientado por um esforço dos participantes de se entenderem, como nos casos em que elas ocorreram em lugares não relevantes para a transição de turnos. Assim, como apontam os resultados, as sobreposições, em sua grande maioria, têm como função sinalizar solidariedade, beneficiando a interação e, consequentemente, a solução dos problemas/ questões que orientam a ação tanto do cliente quanto do atendente. / [en] Studies in intercultural communication have, in general, focused on misunderstandings and failure in this type of interaction. In this work, it is intended to investigate the participants’ efforts to be successful in a service encounter that has English as a lingua franca. The focus of this study is the use of overlaps, dealt under the theory of the Conversation Analysis. Although the overlaps can function as a mechanism of turn taking, usually followed by the taking of the conversational floor, the use of overlaps, in the data analyzed, has shown that the participants are oriented to an understanding, as it can be seen when they happen in a non-relevant transitional place. Therefore, as the results indicate, the overlaps, in the majority of the cases, function to signal solidarity, benefiting the interaction and, consequently, the solution of the problems which orient the action of the client and the attendant.
