[pt] O trabalho procura investigar os limites da autonomia privada na estrutura de um direito subjetivo ao próprio corpo e a possibilidade de submeterse a pessoa a um processo de auto-aperfeiçoamento biônico. Parte-se da identificação de uma base teórica adequada à integração do elemento corporal a um conceito normativo de pessoa. A partir daí, identifica-se a proteção à personalidade com a proteção da identidade pessoal, propondo-se um modelo de direito subjetivo ao corpo em analogia com o conceito de soberania. Definida a autonomia em uma perspectiva de cooriginariedade entre autonomia pública e privada, os critérios utilizados para justificar intervenções em seu exercício baseiam-se em duas premissas: i) o ato interventivo restringe-se a situações na quais existem efeitos colaterais do exercício do agir autônomo em outras esferas de soberania ou no espaço relacional e ii) somente se pode intervir através de normas às quais todos poderiam consentir como participantes de um discurso racional. Concluindo-se que não há identidade entre pessoa e a base biológica humana, mesmo que se modifique radicalmente o sujeito, continuará a ser pessoa. Encontrando-se a fusão homem-máquina inserida em sua esfera de soberania, se admite intervenções quando se invade a esfera de soberania de outro agente. Quanto a intervenções fundadas em reflexos sobre o espaço relacional, estas devem se limitar à regulamentação da utilização dos upgrades, buscando-se preservar a autonomia pessoal do agente, bem como a autonomia e outros interesses daqueles não modificados. / [en] The aim of this study is to propose an investigation related to the limits of private autonomy, taking into account the structure of the right to someone’s free use of his(her) own body as well as the possibility of the usage of bionics selfdevelopment of human body. Once a theoretical reference is identified in order to relate the corporal element to a normative concept of person, the protection of one’s personality may be directly referred to the protection of a personal identity. In this vein, a subjective right to one’s own body is proposed in analogy to the concept of sovereignty. Defining the autonomy in accordance with the dialectical relation between private and public autonomy, the criteria used to justify the intervention in the exercise of autonomy are based on two premises: i) the act of intervention is restricted to situations in which there are collateral effects of the specific autonomous act in other spheres of sovereignty and in the relational space and ii) it is possible to intervene in any sphere of free will if and only if the norms proposing the intervention can be the product of consensus of all participants in a rational discourse. Asserting that there is no identity at all between a person and the biological status of being human, it is logical to conclude that, even if the self is completely change by any kind of bionics technology, he or she will still remain a person. Even though the fusion of man and machine is within his (her) sphere of sovereignty, normative intervention is permitted in case of invading the sphere of sovereignty of another agent. In addition, so as to protect the relational space among different selves, normative intervention ought to be limited to the regulation of the use of upgrades. The purpose here is to preserve the personal autonomy of the agent as well as the autonomy and other interests from those not modified by the upgrades.

Tavares (sobretudo em seu romance Jerusalém), e posteriormente, às vozes de: Gilles Deleuze, Georges Bataille, José Gil, David Lapoujade, Antonin Artaud, Samuel Beckett e Clarice Lispector para juntos percorrermos a questão do corpo em sofrimento bem como seus possíveis milagres. / [en] This work offers its readers a mosaic arrangement of a subjective voice that connects, in the beginning, Gonçalo M. Tavares’ voice (mainly in his novel Jerusalém), and afterwards the voices of Gilles Deleuze, Georges Bataille, José Gil, David Lapoujade, Antonin Artaud, Samuel Beckett, and Clarice Lispector — so that together we can run through the question of the body, its sufferings and possible miracles.

[pt] Esta pesquisa apresenta uma reflexão sobre os usos e significados do corpo na cena gay carioca, visando uma reflexão sobre os matizes subjetivos da configuração das formas corporais, tendo como lócus de observação e análise as performances de transformismo da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Foram remontados discursos teóricos que investigam a legitimidade de tal pesquisa no âmbito do design. Foram também levantados discursos que tratam da produção de sentido por meio das formas de expressão do corpo e argumentos filosóficos a respeito da homossexualidade e sua episteme no contemporâneo, além de elaborações sobre a vivência gay na cidade do Rio. Na pesquisa de campo desenvolvemos entrevistas com Perforrmers da cidade, evocando através de questionários, registros sobre os condicionantes subjetivos da elaboração de seus personagens, seus artifícios na caracterização dessas figuras do discurso e registros fotográficos desse processo. Concluímos a dissertação argumentando que reflexões sobre o corpo trazem um novo paradigma para o universo do design, evocando novos ferramentais e novas formas de abordagem, mas, oferecendo um campo rico em sentidos para a produção de novos enunciados, deixando um campo aberto para novos discursos. / [en] This research shows a new reflection about the uses and meanings of the body on the carioca’s gay scene, looking for a reflection about the subjective nuances of the body shapes configuration, having as a locus of investigation and analysis the crossdresser’s performances of Rio de Janeiro city. Theoretical speeches that investigate the legitimation of this research on Design field were invoked. Speeches that talk about meaning production through the body expression forms and philosophic arguments regarding homosexuality and its epistemology nowadays, moreover, observations on gay life in Rio were also invoked. On the Field Research we developed interviews with city performers, evoking through questionnaires, recordings about the subjective motivations of character elaborations, theirs tools on the characterization of this discourse figures and photographic registrations of this process. We concluded the dissertation regimenting that reflections about body bring a new paradigm to design universe, evoking new tools, and new ways of approach, but, offering a rich field of feelings to the production of new enunciates, leaving an open field to the production of new discourses.

[pt] A pesquisa tem por objetivo explorar as possibilidades de criar com o corpo e pelo corpo, investigando sua potência e seus desdobramentos. Nesse sentido, busca-se contribuir para o desenvolvimento de projetos ou processos que utilizam a criação como elemento central, como é o caso dos estudos em design e da arte. A dissertação apresenta artistas que trabalham o corpo como instrumento e ferramenta principal para a realização de suas obras. Sob a luz do pensamento de Jorge Larrosa Bondía e John Dewey pautado no conceito do saber de experiência, propõe-se alternativas para trabalhar o corpo como sujeito-criador de experiências, a partir do compartilhamento de enunciados experienciados na disciplina Projeto Corpo, do curso de Artes Cênicas da PUC-Rio, que se aproxima, no que diz respeito à prática projetual, das disciplinas de Projeto do curso de Design, da mesma universidade. / [en] The research aims to explore the possibilities of creating with the body and through the body, investigating its power and its implications. In this sense, it seeks to contribute to the development of projects or processes that use creation asa central element, as is the case of studies in design and art. The dissertation presents artists who work with the body as an instrument and main tool for the realization of their pieces. Under the light of Jorge Larrosa Bondía and John Dewey s thought based on the concept of experience knowledge, alternatives are proposed to work the body as a subject-creator of experiences, from the sharing of statements experienced in the discipline Body Project, from the Theater School at PUC-Rio, which has a similar projectual practice to the disciplines of Project fromthe Design course at the same university.

[pt] Esta pesquisa parte do princípio que corpo e moda sempre dialogaram no sentido em que um modela o outro. O corpo humano é mutável se modela e remodela de acordo com os códigos sutis de cada cultura e época. É um corpo da subjetividade, fluído, biológico e social. No Brasil a forte cultura de praia e a hipervalorização do corpo possuem ligação com o design de biquíni através dos tempos. Nesta dissertação propomos entender como ocorrem as relações entre o design de biquíni e o corpo, em especial, o corpo remodelado através de esportes, nutrição e cirurgias plásticas em um contexto atual da cultura de praia do Rio de Janeiro. Foram feitas pesquisas exploratórias e pesquisas de campo com designers de moda-praia, cirurgiões plásticos, vendedoras e usuárias de biquíni. A pluralidade sociocultural e corporal permitiu uma visão mais complexa sobre o objeto de pesquisa, chegou-se a diversas relações entre corpo e design de biquíni: relações de influência, dependência e interdependência. O Brasil é referência na moda-praia, contudo há escassez de pesquisa na área tornando assim esta pesquisa oportuna para a área de Design e para a indústria de moda. / [en] This research assumes that body and fashion always conversed in the sense that one shapes the other. The human body is changing and remodeling, is modeled according to the subtle codes of every culture and time. It is a body of subjectivity, fluid, biological and social. In Brazil the strong beach culture and the overvaluation of the body have link with the bikini design through the ages. In this thesis we propose occur to understand how relationships between design of bikini and the body, in particular the body redesigned through sports, nutrition and plastic surgery in the current context of the beach culture of Rio de Janeiro. Exploratory research and field research with beach fashion designers, plastic surgeons, sellers and users of bikini have been made. The sociocultural plurality and body has enabled a more complex view of the object of research, we have reached several relationships between body and bikini design: relations of influence, dependence and interdependence. Brazil is reference in beach fashion, however is no dearth of research in the area thus making this timely research in the area of design and the fashion industry.

[pt] O presente trabalho procurou investigar, à luz da concepção foucaultiana da constituição da subjetividade, os adeptos das práticas de marcação corporal extrema, tais como: tatuagem, piercing, escarificação, branding, cutting, suspensão, entre outras, concernentes ao movimento da Body Modification. Cada época produz um tipo de corpo que corresponde aos ideais de beleza e aos valores dominantes em uma sociedade. Reconhecendo que os adeptos da Body Modification constroem corpos que possuem um estilo divergente dos padrões presentes na sociedade ocidental, procurou-se refletir não somente sobre os efeitos destas práticas para estes indivíduos, mas também a respeito das conseqüências da sua presença em nossa sociedade. Para tanto, procedeu-se inicialmente a uma exposição da visão de Foucault sobre o poder e a maneira como as relações de poder investem os corpos produzindo formas de subjetivação. Foi realizado, também, um histórico das práticas de marcação corporal ao longo da humanidade para apontar o contexto em que surge o movimento da Body Modification e suas especificidades. Além disto, foram apresentadas as características principais do pensamento dos indivíduos que se submetem a estas práticas. Tendo por base a premissa, apresentada por Foucault, de que a subjetividade possui uma raiz corporal, este movimento é valorizado pela autora como uma nova forma de subjetivação contemporânea que busca resistir aos mecanismos coercitivos do poder. / [en] The present work investigates, based on the foucautian notion of the constitution of the subjectivity, the practitioners of extreme body marking such as tattooing, piercing, scarification, branding, cutting, suspension, among others. All these practices concern the greater movement of Body Modification. Each society produces different standards for what the ideal body should be according to the patterns of beauty and the dominant values of each particular time. Considering that the body constructed by the practitioners of Body Modification is divergent to western culture standards, this study tries to show how this perspective influences not only those who use it but also how its presence in our society has important consequences. To do so the study began with an exposition of Foucault´s notion of power and how power relations invest the bodies producing different forms of subjectivity. A historic approach on body marking also made it possible to understand in which context the Body Modification Movement and its specificities appeared. The narrative of the individuals who submit to these practices was also taken in consideration, and the main aspects of how they think their experience is presented in this work. Agreeing with Foucault´s premise that subjectivity has its roots on the body, the Body Movement is valued by the author as a new form of subjectivity which can offer an alternative for resistance in face of the coercive mechanisms of power of our contemporaneity.

[pt] O presente estudo compreende uma análise das implicações da transmissão psíquica geracional e dos principais processos intersubjetivos de um grupo familiar, envolvidos no adoecimento do corpo de um ou mais de um membro deste grupo. Os conteúdos em relação aos processos intersubjetivos existentes na família, tal qual a história familiar pela transmissão psíquica de um legado, foram fundamentados e articulados com a concepção de corpo e adoecimento somático, resgatando as importantes contribuições freudianas e as pesquisas de autores contemporâneos aos estudos da psicossomática psicanalítica. A relação entre grupo familiar e o adoecimento do corpo foi analisada através de um estudo de caso. Com base em um roteiro, transcrevemos as entrevistas com uma família mineira, de classe média baixa e oriunda do meio rural, cujos membros apresentavam múltiplos adoecimentos como câncer, pressão alta e diabetes em várias gerações. Analisamos a história familiar pelo processo de transmissão psíquica geracional e estudamos a intersubjetividade familiar pelos processos psíquicos presentes no grupo diante do adoecimento somático. Observamos uma estreita relação do adoecimento de um ou mais de um dos sujeitos do grupo familiar com um baixo investimento libidinal no vínculo e a incidência de um fantasma herdado de outras gerações, alimentado pelas fantasias dos sujeitos e incorporado na doença de alguns membros. A discussão dos temas família e adoecimento do corpo contribuiu para a compreensão do sentido do adoecimento dado pelo grupo familiar. Este sentido permitiu entender a função do adoecimento enquanto condição de unir os laços fraterno, paterno e materno entre os membros, resgatando, principalmente, a função da figura materna, desinvestida e perdida na história familiar. / [en] This study analyses both the implications of the generational psychic transmission and the main intersubjective processes of a family group which are involved with the sickness of the body of one or more group members under study. The contents regarding the existent intersubjective processes in the family as well as the family history through the psychic transmission of a legacy were well-founded and articulated with the conception of body and somatic sickness, recovering relevant Freudian contributions and researches developed by authors contemporary to psychoanalytical psychosomatics studies as well. The relation between family group and sickness of the body was analyzed by means of a case study. Having a script of questions as base, interviews given by a low middle class family coming from a rural area of Minas Gerais state and whose members presented multiple sickness such as cancer, high blood pressure and diabetes in several generations were transcribed. The family history was then analyzed by taking the process of generational psychic transmission while the family intersubjectiveness was studied by taking the psychic processes present in the group facing somatic sickness. A close relation between the sickness process of one or more subjects of the family group and the low libidinal investment within the link was found as well as the incidence of a phantom inherited from other generations, nourished by the subjects´ phantasies and incorporated in some members´ disease. The discussion of the theme family and sickness of the body contributes for a better understanding of the meaning given by the group to the sickness process. This meaning made it possible to perceive the sickness function as a condition for uniting fraternal, paternal and maternal bonds among members, mainly restoring the function of the maternal figure, which was disinvested and lost in this story.

[pt] A dissertação Espaços de morte, escritos de vida - Visões literária e jornalística do cárcere brasileiro faz uma reflexão sobre a literatura contemporânea produzida por alguns autores integrantes e/ou egressos do sistema penitenciário brasileiro. O texto tem o objetivo de abordar o tema da prisão através da literatura, por meio de uma análise de como as obras escolhidas tratam a experiência da prisão e como a mídia apresenta essa mesma experiência à população. É uma busca no sentido de refletir como a escrita que surge do cárcere pode denunciar - mesmo não se apresentando com tal finalidade - um sistema penitenciário decadente, cruel e conhecido como um dos piores do mundo. Mostrar como essas narrativas trazem à tona, tornam visíveis, dão a ver, o que os jornais e a televisão não mostram. Procurar as diferenças discursivas entre as duas formas (a literária e a jornalística) de retratar o espaço prisional. E, no entrelaçar dessas questões, analisar como a literatura oriunda da prisão pode constituir-se em uma estratégia de criação de vida, de sobrevivência, num espaço o tempo inteiro atravessado pela morte. / [en] Present dissertation Espaços de morte, escritos de vida - Visões literária e jornalística do cárcere brasileiro [Death places, life writings - Literary and journalistic views on the Brazilian penal system] makes a reflection upon the contemporary literature produced by authors who had been or still are as captives within the Brazilian penal system. The main purpose of this essay is to approach the subject of imprisonment on literature analyzing how literary works deal with imprisonment experiences and how media presents these experiences to general population. It is a reflection on how the writing that arises from jail can denounce - even though it is not its primary intention - a ruined and crude penal system. The intention is to present how these writings raise, display, and show up what newspaper and television do not and to look for discursive differences between the literary and journalistic narrative forms of describing the penal system. In the confluence of these issues, the scope is to analyze how literature born in prison can develop a strategy of creating life and survival in a situation often associated to death.

[pt] O aumento da temperatura de equipamentos de produção de energia elétrica é um indicativo de seu mau funcionamento ou da necessidade de uma manutenção preventiva antes que limites críticos sejam alcançados. Uma técnica utilizada para o diagnóstico é a interpretação do sinal infravermelho captado por uma câmera que fornece uma imagem do campo visual em questão, normalmente conhecida por termovisor. Neste trabalho foi desenvolvida uma metodologia para interpretar o seu sinal tendo em vista o planejamento de manutenção. Inicialmente, foi projetado um dispositivo para calibração de um termovisor na PUC-Rio. Ele consta de um bloco cilíndrico de latão, imerso em um banho de temperatura controlada. A seguir, o termovisor foi calibrado no corpo negro do INMETRO. Através da comparação entre os valores medidos pelo termovisor na PUC-Rio e no INMETRO, a emissividade da superfície pode ser determinada, e ajustada no instrumento para medição de temperatura com superfícies semelhantes. Com o termovisor calibrado, foi feita uma análise do impacto da incerteza de medição de temperatura sobre os procedimentos atualmente empregados pela concessionária de energia elétrica, LIGHT ENERGIA S.A., de modo a otimizar os procedimentos de manutenção de seus equipamentos. / [en] The operating temperature increase of electric energy production equipments is a sign of poor performance or the need of maintenance before critical limits be attained. As a diagnostic tool, the interpretation of the infrared signal, as received by a camera that registers the image of a target, is often used and referred as a thermographic camera. In this work, a methodology was developed to interpret the infrared signal from a camera, aiming a maintenance planning. Initially, a device was designed to calibrate the thermographic camera at PUC-Rio. It consists of a cylindrical brass block, placed inside a controlled temperature bath, having its upper surface painted black and placed about 3 mm above the liquid surface of the bath. Holes were drilled radially, slightly bellow the block upper surface, so that its temperature could be measured by inserted thermocouples. Next, the instrument was calibrated with a black body at INMETRO. The surface emissivity was calculated as a result of the comparison between the calibration results in PUC-Rio and INMETRO. After calibration, the impact of the uncertainty of several parameters in temperature measurement was calculated, following the procedures that are presently adopted by the electric energy utility company LIGHT ENERGIA S.A., so that to optimize the maintenance procedure of equipments.

[pt] Esta tese aborda as transformações corporais decorrentes do gestual de uso dos objetos contemporâneos, focando a aceleração das relações predatárias entre o homem e o meio em seu ambiente de trabalho. A questão principal aqui abordada é a diminuição dos movimentos corporais do moderno homem ocidental, tendo por pano de fundo o processo co-evolutivo entre corpo e ambiente, onde os objetos são em grande parte responsáveis pelas posturas cotidianas, como também pelas possibilidades de ação, de gestos, comportamentos e estratégias cognitivas. A tese parte de contribuição teórica de autores que defendem a realização de movimentos mais harmônicos entre corpo e ambiente, abordando o conceito de corpomídia e conhecimentos sobre a dinâmica das cadeias musculares na organização psicomotora humana aplicados à atividade de ensino e de projetos de objetos. A hipótese que alimenta este trabalho é a de que um olhar mais atento para a globalidade da estrutura corpórea influenciará os profissionais que concebem e desenvolvem objetos. A atividade de projetar objetos está no cerne da questão. Há uma crí­tica aos modelos rígidos de corpo humano utilizados nas atividades de concepção e design dos objetos, e ênfase na construção de objetos didáticos que representem as características de mobilidade (e outras) do corpo humano. Os conceitos apresentados são abundantemente ilustrados por todo o trabalho. As experiências realizadas em cursos ministrados pela autora são abordadas desde seus fundamentos teóricos até a construção de objetos didáticos que construiu no LILD, Laboratório em Living Design. As fotos dos objetos construídos pelos alunos fecham esta tese, por serem a sí­ntese e a concretização da idéia de que é possí­vel e indispensável ao designer compreender a estrutura do corpo humano. / [en] This thesis approaches the transformation of the body deriving as a result of gestures when the use of contemporary objects, focusing predatory the acceleration of relations between man and the environment in their workplaces. The main question raised here is the decline of bodily movements of modern man occidental person with the back drop of the co-evolutionary process between body and environment where objects are in large part responsible for daily postures but also by possibilities of action, gestures, behaviors and cognitive strategies. The thesis has left of theoretical argument of authors who defend the realization of more harmonic movement between body and environment addressing the concept of corpomidia and knowledge on the dynamics of the muscular chains c in the organization of psychomotor human applied to the activity of teaching and projects objects. The hypothesis that feeds this work is that a closer look into the whole structure of the body influence the professionals who design and develop objects. The activity of design objects is at the heart of the matter. In this study there is a criticism to the rigid models of human body used in the activities of conception and design of objects and emphasis on the construction of didactic objects representing the characteristics of the mobility (and others) of the human body. The concepts here presented are abundantly illustrated throughout this study. The experiences in the courses lessons taught by the author are considered since the theoretical foundations throughout the construction of didactic elements build in LILD, Living Laboratory in Design. The photos of objects constructed by the students close this view being the synthesis and implementation of the idea of that is possible and essential to the designer understand the structure of the human body.
