[pt] CIÊNCIA E POÉTICA: UM ESTUDO GENEALÓGICO SOBRE A FRONTEIRA DOS CAMPOS NARRATIVOS / [en] SCIENCE AND POETIC: A GENEALOGICAL STUDY REGARDING THE NARRATIVE FIELDS FRONTIER16 September 2021 (has links)
[en] The object of study in this research is the topics of representation and narrativity in the human sciences, starting from a comparison with the field of the theory of art. The hypothesis proposed here is that the classic notion of mimesis, which supported the theory of representation for a long time, went through a crisis with regards to its theoretical bases during the 19th and 20th centuries. After a series of theoretical interventions – in which I highlight the importance of romanticism, the perspective of social anthropology and linguistics – the mimetic paradigm loses its strength in favor of a theory of representation focusing on the dimension of language. My objective is to analyse the consequences this epistemological change has for the discursive regime that separated literature and the human sciences into opposite fields. As such, I intend to demonstrate that the scientific principle of rejecting poiesis obeys an obsolete conception of language, in which empiria and poetics are considered mutual threats.

[en] ON THE STATUTE OF PROPER NAMES IN THE POETICAL PHILOSOPHY OF LUDWIG WITTGENSTEIN AND IN THE PHILOSOPHICAL POETRY OF SAMUEL BECKETT / [pt] SOBRE O ESTATUTO DOS NOMES PRÓPRIOS NA FILOSOFIA POÉTICA DE LUDWIG WITTGENSTEIN E NA POESIA FILOSÓFICA DE SAMUEL BECKETTSILVIA TEIXEIRA BARROSO REBELLO 19 October 2012 (has links)
A recorrente
A escolha
tal. / [en] This work focuses on the statute of metalinguistic terms, with special
interest in proper names. As perceived by common sense, this class of words is
particularly useful to reinforce a representationistic view of language: here the
name, there the named. The contemporary and recurring evidence of failure of this
representationistic view invites to alternative reflections on the metalinguistic
vocabulary and especially on proper names because the attempts to bring a new
insight on the understanding of linguistic significance collide with the persistence
of a vocabulary marked by a long hegemony of that language comprehension.
The argument proposed here is developed from the writings of Ludwig
Wittgenstein and Samuel Beckett, especially focusing on the texts of the second
Wittengstein and in four Beckett’s novels: Watt, Molloy, Malone Dies and The
Unnamable. The choice of these authors and texts has to do with the
contemporary richness of approaches between philosophy and literature and also
with the special attention both authors dedicated to the question of proper names.
It examines a set of relevant texts of Wittgenstein’s mature writings and agrees
with his words in Culture and Value (1989, p. 24): philosophy ought really to be
written only as a form of poetry. On the other hand, from Beckett’s novels this
work focuses both the unique onomastic challenges and metalinguistic moments
in which characters explicitly deal with the issue of proper names. It is
demonstrated that the writings of these two authors, taken as countersigns
showing at the same time the wandering of proper names and their paradoxical
conservativeness, beckon with the promise of ways to reduce the gap that still
seems to separate intellectual understandings of language as a praxis without
basis and its effective experience as such.

[pt] Com o proclamado fim do historicismo iluminista, a História começa a adentrar o
campo epistemológico do espaço.
dilatação do presente, segundo Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht. Desta forma, o fio
Goethe, a
[en] With the proclaimed end of Enlightenment historicism, History begins to enter the
epistemological field of space. This is notable for the dawn of network
communications, the ecological narratives, in short, the clouding of the future and
the dilation of the present, according to Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht. Thus, the
argumentative thread of the thesis consists in presenting a spatiality rooted in the
origin of language, contemplating the symbolic question in J.W. Goethe s
Morphologie; W. von Humboldt s formative linguistics; and the romantic
developments in a twentieth-century phenomenology of language, orbiting mainly
around the contributions of Andre Leroi-Gouhran and biologist Humberto Maturana.

[en] LISTENING TO LANGUAGE: HEIDEGGER AND PESSOA / [pt] À ESCUTA DA LINGUAGEM: HEIDEGGER E PESSOAVANIA LUCIA KAMPFF 04 May 2021 (has links)
[en] The dissertation Listening to language: Heidegger and Pessoa seeks, as the title suggests, to bring Martin Heidegger s philosophical thinking closer to Fernando Pessoa s poetic language on the quest of an original language. We seek to develop a study that has, as its premise, the thought left by the thinker-poet
unfolding in the language of the poet-thinker. From the shadow of this inapparent relationship, we envision a path that unveils the interweaving of the various strands of the writing of one and the poetry of the other in the thinking of the poetic construction of an original language, understood from a founding experience of
language. It is a saying that makes it appear, a place where the word is the principle of reality, an appearing that in its immediacy becomes original language, becomes poetics of language, the place of saying. Both philosopher and poet make us understand that our being in the world is totally permeated by an experience of meaning, in which we are always inserted. On this, something happens from a vital
imperative: man disappears, there is only surrender, abandonment to the dimension of transcendence, there is only waiting and listening unfolding in openness, so as to give vent to the other who summons to the consecration of the instant.

[pt] ELEMENTOS PARA UMA TEORIA DO OUTRO DE JACQUES LACAN: SUJEITO E ALTERIDADE / [en] ELEMENTS FOR A THEORY OF THE OTHER BY JACQUES LACAN: SUBJECT AND ALTERITYCARINA DE MELLO SOUZA DOS SANTOS 16 November 2021 (has links)
[en] The concept of the big Other, in Jacques Lacan, refers to the place of culture and language where the subject is formed. It arose from the Lacanian approach to the Freudian notion of the unconscious, when this author identifies the linguistic way of the unconscious to operate. Such a concept has an aspect of radical alterity, that is, a point of impossible complete meaning of existence, due to the insufficiency of words and symbols. Thus, the subject responds for particular modes of existence in front of his life, in order to deal with alterity. In this material, we question what different configurations the place of the Other can take in view of the responses that the subject seeks to build from what he receives from his culture. This question helps us to think about support for the treatment of this place to help subjective constructions. We start from the Lacanian development of the notion of the Other in three moments of his thought, related to the two subjective structures of neurosis and psychosis (paranoid and schizophrenic). Observing the plurality of social formations around different knowledge and practices between subjects, we understand that the concept of the Other, at the end of the Lacanian work, becomes Others - several symbolic places, different languages invented in social ties. In this way, we come to the understanding that the Other s alterity makes it instrumental. That is, its relationship with the subject is not given a priori, but constructed through the attribution of a subjective function. Contemplating the artifices of dealing with language and the conception of the Other helps to apprehend, in analytical listening, the emergence of elements that present themselves as unique resources in the clinic, arranged by the subject to formulate sustainable ways of existing.

[pt] A PRISÃO DAS PALAVRAS: LINGUAGEM, SUJEITO E MUNDO NO ROMANCE DE SAMUEL BECKETT (1945-49) / [en] THE PRISON OF WORDS: LANGUAGE, SUBJECT, AND WORLD IN THE WOR K OF SAMUEL BECKETT (1945-49)LUCAS PELEIAS GAHIOSK 26 May 2021 (has links)
[en] The goal of this work is to investigate a key moment in the work of the Irish poet, playwright, essayist, and novelist Samuel Ba rclay Beckett (1906-89), focusing on four works in prose written between 1945 and 1949, the novella First love , and the trilogy of novels Molloy , Malone dies , and The unnamable . The analysis seeks to articulate three main topics: subject, language, and world, accompanying the process of formal radicalization set forth by Beckett. In this universe, the subject is devoid of any agency, being subjugated by the power of language, which in its turn loses any referential power. Thus, narrative it self is questioned, insofar that speaking about the world and about the self becomes both an impossible and inevitable task. The narrator, which figures the subject in the novel, plays the part of a victim in the unstoppable torrent of autonomous language, and the act of writing becomes a mere attempt to escape which seeks to postpone the inevitable moment where he must finally speak about himself.

[pt] O PRAZER DA LÍNGUA: INCONSCIENTE E TIRADA ESPIRITUOSA / [en] THE PLEASURE OF THE JOKE: UNCONSCIOUS AND WITTY REMARKMARINA DE SA GOMARA 27 December 2021 (has links)
Pesquisamos, ainda, outras
dribladas a censura e a razão crítica. Esses jogos linguísticos e intelectuais, além de
prazer, podem proporcionar reconfigurações subjetivas decisivas. A psicanálise
promove trazendo a verdade do sujeito.
do código linguístico e denuncia tabus, inibições e proibições.
ironia. / [en] This work starts from the Freudian assertion that words have a magical
power to point out, by the theory of joke, or witty tirade, that language has an
important subversive aspect. For this, we present the intrinsic relationship between
language and the unconscious. Language being a condition for the unconscious. We
have seen how the ambiguity and equivocality of words can provide a means for
the expression of the unconscious through speech. We also researched other
formations of the unconscious (slips of the tongue, dreams and the forgetting of
words and names), betting, with Lacan, that the laws that govern language and the
unconscious would be the same. We come to metaphor and metonymy to
understand how, through them, we distort words and language elements to
circumvent censorship and critical reason. These linguistic and intellectual games,
in addition to pleasure, can provide subjective reconfigurations. Psychoanalysis
deals with this: this personal transformation that the encounter with the unconscious
promotes, bringing the subject s truth. We will not fail to address the political
dimension of the joke, subverting the laws of the linguistic code to denounce taboos,
inhibitions and prohibitions. Finally, let us point out that the subversive power of
the joke is a localized transgression, if we compare it to the power of generalized
de-realization capacity of irony.

[en] This dissertation is the research result about the language of the craft beers
labels. It was observed that circulate simultaneously in the Brazilian market, beers
using on the design of the labels a traditional language, marked by a style that has
been repeated over time and others that do not adhere to the conservation of this
standard, taking an innovative language. We work under the hiposesis that a
innovative label, unlike of the traditional is characterized by opposition of
repetition. Based on Peirce s semiotics, taking as an analytical tool, the
dimensions semiotic of language of William Morris, we sought to highlight the
syntactic, semantic and pragmatic aspects that characterize the innovative
language of the labels of contemporary craft beers.

[en] A PSYCHOLINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF DISFLUENCIES IN NEUROLOGICALLY HEALTHY ELDERLY SPEECH / [pt] ANÁLISE DE DISFLUÊNCIAS SOB A ÓTICA DA PSICOLINGUÍSTICA: UM ESTUDO DA FALA DE ADULTOS IDOSOS NEUROLOGICAMENTE SAUDÁVEISCRISTIANE PATROCINIO FRANCESCHI 31 October 2023 (has links)
[en] This dissertation is on the field of Psycholinguistics and focuses on the
analysis of disfluencies in the speech of neurologically healthy older adults, using
tasks from the Language Assessment Protocol called Bateria de Avaliação da
Linguagem no Envelhecimento (BALE) (HÜBNER, et al., 2019). In this study, we
aimed to investigate the most recurring types of disfluencies in the production of
three types of narratives: a retelling (Lúcia), a funny story experienced by the
participant (Funny Story), and a narrative based on a sequence of pictures (Dog
Story). The study included 55 participants (43 female, 12 male), with a mean age
of 70 years (SD = 7.3). We investigated the effect of the following
sociodemographic variables on the production of disfluencies: age, gender,
socioeconomic status, and education. We also examined the correlation between
the proportion of disfluencies in each type of narrative and the score on the
respective task, between the proportion of disfluencies and reading and writing
habits, and the correlation between the proportion of disfluencies and the
participants performance on cognitive tests included in the BALE. The results
indicate that the proportion of disfluencies varies according to the cognitive
demands of each type of narrative, with a higher proportion of disfluencies in the
retelling task (Lúcia). The following types of disfluencies were analyzed: filled
pauses, revisions, prolongations, repetitions, and interruptions. Differences were
observed in the distribution of types of disfluency based on the grammatical nature
of the affected item, with a higher incidence of filled pauses and revisions on lexical
items and prolongations and repetitions on functional items. Regarding the
examined sociodemographic factors, a significant result was found only for the
education factor, with a higher occurrence of disfluencies among individuals with
a higher level of education in the retelling task. Regarding the correlation studies,
although there were no correlation effects between the proportion of disfluencies in
each narrative and the score obtained in the respective task, it is worth noting that
retelling was the task in which participants scored the lowest, which is in alignment
with previous findings arguing that this type of narrative induces higher production
of disfluencies. In the other correlation studies, a positive correlation was observed
between the proportion of disfluencies produced in the funny story narrative and
the naming task and between the proportion of disfluencies in the retelling task and
the score obtained in the reading habits questionnaire. Taken together, these results
suggest that disfluencies in the speech production of neurologically healthy older
adults can be interpreted less as disturbances and more as important resources in
the planning and linguistic structuring of utterances. Finally, implications of these
findings are pointed out for a better understanding of the way elements such as
narrative type, socioeconomic factors, reading and writing habits, and cognitive
conditions/strategies interplay to shape the linguistic performance of older adults,
bringing significant contributions to the field of psycholinguistics and beyond.

[pt] DESLOCAMENTOS DA LINGUAGEM NA CORRESPONDÊNCIA DO JOVEM BECKETT: UM RUMO LOGOCLASTA / [en] LANGUAGE DISPLACEMENTS IN BECKETT S EARLY CORRESPONDENCE: A LOGOCLAST S PATHTHAMILLA FERREIRA GOMES TALARICO 24 November 2021 (has links)
[en] The present study is based on the letters written by Samuel Beckett between 1929 and 1940. It examines in particular his significant thoughts and consequent implications on language, exploring certain subjects that arise therefrom: writing, Grammar, style, cliché, among others. Having chosen to limit our study to the decade that witnessed his blossoming as a writer and artist, we consider the forms through which the previously mentioned language matters are connected to classical beckettian motives, such as, immobility, impossibility, sickness and impasse. Following a perspective that assumes language as praxis, from a post-structuralist point of view, we elect Beckett’s own terms, especially those that gained expression
in his richest and most famous letter of the period – the 1937 German Letter –, as our central pillar. Among the images extracted from this letter guiding the study of the remainder of his correspondence are: the native s language veil, the sacred unnature of the word, the forest of symbols and its never silent birds of interpretation, the word-storming in the name of beauty and the involuntary violation against a foreign language. From and with these metaphors we see rising inseparably the idea and praxis of a ruptured, a displaced writing which is also the foundation for the Logoclast s League, of which entity Beckett is the founder member and most fervent enthusiast.
