Syftet var att undersöka vilka yrken aktiva studenter på Skogskandidatprogrammet tänker sig efter examen, jämföra deras tilltänkta yrkesval med alumnernas nuvarande yrke samt de tjänster som finns tillgängliga hos presumtiva arbetsgivare. Syftet var även att undersöka hur kön, ålder och arbetslivserfarenhet påverkar tilltänkt yrkesval hos aktiva studenter. För datainsamlingen gjordes en enkätundersökning bland aktiva studenter och alumner från Skogskandidatprogrammet. Även en kompletterande datainsamling gjordes om befintliga tjänster hos presumtiva arbetsgivare. De yrken som aktiva studenter främst vill ha efter examen är skogsförvaltare, skogskonsulent och produktionsledare. Aktiva studenters yrkespreferenser jämfört med alumnernas yrken idag överensstämmer, medan det skiljer sig från hur många sådana tjänster det finns hos presumtiva arbetsgivare. Kvinnor och män har till största del liknande yrkespreferenser. Äldre studenter med lång arbetslivserfarenhet föredrar yrken som skogsförvaltare och skogskonsulent medan yngre med kort arbetslivserfarenhet föredrar produktionsledare.

In the thesis the author attempts to focus on what value Career theories (such as turning points, planned happenstance, SCCT and PEC) may have for guidance counselors, and their clients. The author describes a number of theories, then put them to use on a number of interviews where clients describe their present career situation to guidance counselor students. The author reaches the conclusion that career theories have an important value for guidance counselors and their clients; Career theories play an important role in helping to understand the client´s behavior and history of choices. Career theories can also be used by the guidance counselor to help the client in future choices.

Klimatfrågan är en av vår tids största globala utmaningar och en fråga som även studie- ochyrkesvägledningens profession behöver adressera. Gröna karriärval är en ny företeelse där det saknasmycket kunskap. Vi vet att det finns personer som gör karriärval med utgångspunkt i klimatfråganmen det finns begränsad kunskap om hur ett sådant karriärval motiveras. Studien undersökermiljömässigt hållbara karriärval inom grön teknik genom en kvalitativ intervjustudie av fem anställdapå ett e-mobilitetsföretag i Östafrika. Resultatet analyseras utifrån Mark Savickas Career ConstructionTheory som förklarar karriärval som en del av ett identitetsskapande. Resultatet diskuteras i relationtill tidigare forskning om identitet och hållbara val, grön karriär och grön vägledning. Ett övergripandesvar på frågan om varför respondenterna valt att arbeta med miljömässig hållbarhet är att de ärkarriärmedvetna medskapare av sina karriärer. Mer specifikt har de gjort sitt karriärval för att deraspersonliga värderingar reflekteras i företaget, för att de har ett intresse för grön teknik, för att de villpåverka klimatförändringarna utifrån kunskap och erfarenheter samt att en karriär inom grön teknikuppfattas som en bra karriär. / The climate issue is one of the biggest global challenges of our time and a question that study- and career counsellors also need to address. Green career choice is a new phenomenon where there is a great lack of knowledge. We know that there are people who does career choices based on the climate issue but the knowledge is limited on how such a career choice is motivated. The thesis investigates environmentally sustainable career choices in green tech through a qualitative interview study of five employees at an e-mobility company in East Africa. The result is analyzed based on Mark Savickas Career Construction Theory which explains career choice as part of identity construction. The result is discussed in relation to previous research on identity and sustainable choice, green career, and green guidance. An overarching answer to the question of why the respondents chose to work with environmental sustainability is that they are career concerned co-creators of their careers. More specifically the career choice is derived from personal values being reflected in the company, an interest in green tech, a will to make an impact on climate change based on knowledge and experience and the perception that a career in green tech is a good career.

Nevertheless the first choice of career is still an important milestone and can direct the individual career, but it is not the only key milestone, that determines the individual career once and for ever. People in contemporary world should be able to respond quickly to constant changes, evaluate new situations and be able to make the right decisions. The widespread myth is that success means to raise money as quickly as possible to guarantee the freedom and happiness. But a real success is a contented life, which is a long way over such values as for example certainty that we are doing the work that we like and which fills us with satisfaction. The relationship between career anchors and personality preferences

The objective of the present study was to explore whether individuals' career anchors are dependent on their personality types. The Career Orientation Inventory (COI) and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) were administered to a sample of honours students in the subject field of Industrial and Organisational Psychology in order to measure the relationship between the two constructs. For statistical purposes only the female participants were included in the final sample analysis (N=117) because of the underrepresentation of males. Statistically significant differences were established with regard to the security/stability career anchor and the ESFJ, ENFP, ESFP and INFP personality types. It is recommended that future studies include larger samples that are more representative of all possible sixteen (16) personality types and a broader range of occupations. This research aims to attain insight into the role a person's processing style (process) have on decision-making from a career developmental and gestalt perspective because it appears as if the adolescent's proses with regard to career choice is not being acknowledged. Semi-structured interviews were used to generate data from which coded themes were identified. These coded themes served as the core research of this study. The subjective experience of respondents' career development are presented, supported by a literature control. From this research it is clear that the adolescent's process is dynamic with regard to field and phenomenology and that structures such as family and school plays an important career developmental role as environmental influences. The role of time perspective in the career choice of secondary school pupils

Due to the fact that many of the secondary school pupils who experience difficulty in choosing a career, also appear to have problems with their time perspective, an investigation into the possible link between these concepts was undertaken. A literature study was done where the major dimensions of time perspective were identified continuity/directionality and locus of control; optimism/pessimism; structure. Analyses were done on the principal factors influencing time perspective and career choice. A reliable measuring instrument was developed in order to measure the secondary school pupil's time perspective. The results of the empirical investigation indicated that time perspective does play a significant role in the career choice of secondary school pupils. Gender and intellectual potential do not appear to have a significant bearing on time perspective. The educational implications of the findings are discussed, and guidelines regarding methods of improving a child's time perspective are given to both teachers and parents. / Psychology of Education / M. Choosing to become a general practitioner – What attracts and what deters?

Background: To be able to counter the increasing shortage of general practitioners (GPs) in many countries, it is crucial to remain up‑to‑date with the decisive reasons why young physicians choose or reject a career in this field. Materials and Methods: Qualitative content analysis was performed using data from a cross‑sectional survey among German medical graduates (n = 659, response rate = 64.2%). Subsequently, descriptive statistics was calculated. Results: The most frequent motives to have opted for a GP career were (n = 74/81): Desire for variety and change (62.2%), interest in a long‑term bio‑psycho‑social treatment of patients (52.7%), desire for independence and self‑determination (44.6%), positively perceived work‑life balance (27.0%), interest in contents of the field (12.2%), and reluctance to work in a hospital (12.2%). The most frequent motives to have dismissed the seriously considered idea of becoming a GP were (n = 207/578): Reluctance to establish a practice or perceived associated risks and impairments (33.8%), stronger preference for another field (19.3%), perception of workload being too heavy or an unfavorable work‑life balance (15.0%), perception of too low or inadequate earning opportunities (14.0%), perception of the GP as a \"distributor station\" with limited diagnostic and therapeutic facilities (11.6%), perception of too limited specialization or limited options for further sub‑specialization (10.6%), rejection of (psycho‑) social aspects and demands in general practice (9.7%), and perceived monotony (9.7%). Conclusion: While some motives appear to be hard to influence, others reveal starting points to counter the GP shortage, in particular, with regard to working conditions, the further academic establishment, and the external presentation of the specialty.

Eight hundred and sixty-three college students (male = 290, female = 573) completed a self-report survey which consists of five instruments: Public Speaking Anxiety Scale, Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, Humor Coping Scale, Creative Behavior Scale, and Career Choice Scale. Results indicate that more than 50% college students reported having PSA. Female students reported more PSA feelings than did male students. During the speaking, male students use more skills such as interacting with audience to lower their anxiety than did female students. The more students preferred to use reappraisal or calm down emotion regulation strategy, the less public speaking anxiety they felt, the more they used positive strategies such as preparing before speaking to reduce anxiety, and the more they learned from past speaking experience to have sufficient preparation, take the audience into consideration, etc for their future public speech. Students having lower PSA and coping with life events with a sense of humor in their life had more creative behavior and diffusion of creative ideas, and preferred to choose jobs requiring public speech. Suppression was found to be negatively correlated with use of active PSA coping strategies. Use of active PSA coping strategies were found to be positively correlated with sense of humor, creativity and jobs requiring public speech. Implications for education and future research are discussed.
