The Conflict & Adaptation between Mainland Chinese Value System and Taiwan Enterprises' Management Style: a Region-based Sub- cultural Research

Ho, Kuo Chuan Unknown Date (has links)

El patrimonio cultural territorial. Historia, paisaje y gestión en Metepec, Puebla (México)

Castellanos Arenas, Mariano 12 December 2012 (has links)
This thesis is a research project that aims to build, in the first instance, a historical, theoretical, and methodological frame of reference and protection of cultural property, and more precisely of the territorial cultural heritage. The starting point is the analysis of the concepts of culture, heritage, landscape and territory, in addition to others such as management, tourism, social heritagization and development, all this through a detailed study starting from the perspective of the human sciences and culture, with the aim to approach to the positions on these ideas that are being debated today. The ultimate objective is the design of an instrument that serves to make readings of landscapes and in the same way, as a platform to design strategies in favour of the enhancement, protection, conservation, interpretation and management of the landscape as an asset of the territorial culture heritage.

'Your place and mine' : heritage management and a sense of place

Whittle, Joanne K. January 1993 (has links)
This study presents an analysis of human encounter with place. It examines the personal and cultural importance of an attachment to place, focusing on the reciprocal relationship between cultural heritage and a sense of place. Place is constructed out of mutual meanings between people and their environment. The study begins with an indepth look at the theory of place. In a series of heritage management case studies, the theory is applied in order to illustrate how meanings of place may be expressed. Place as a normative concept provides a role for resource managers in finding the meanings people associate with places, and in nurturing and enhancing these meanings. This involves the recognition of different values and 'stories' that are associated with place. Recognising these differences helps shift resource management away from the simplicity of grand narratives and totalizing discourses, towards a respect for intangible and multiple meanings in place. To a certain extent an understanding of place is already informing both natural and cultural management decisions in New Zealand, although this may not be explicitly recognised. To approach cultural heritage management from the perspective of place, however, challenges the current directions that heritage management is taking in this country. The study proposes a way of taking up that challenge, and concludes that the importance of place should not be overlooked.

This dissertation seeks to analyze the contribution of Social Organizations to cultural rights access, based on the experience of Libraries Park of the State of Rio de Janeiro, especially those located in Manguinhos and Rocinha. Aware that forms of cooperation to the realization of cultural rights are manifold and need to be designed from the interrelation of various players and aspects, all invariably need to flow into management frames that enable the access to culture. The research adopts the case study method, making use of bibliographic, documentary and field research. These findings introduce the construction scenario of cultural rights to a large expansion in Brazil, and highlight that to materialize them, it is necessary to study, evaluate and adopt alternative rather than traditional organizational characterizing the direct and indirect public administration. This document addresses the field of management and cultural rights in the context of the three major reforms of the Republican State apparatus, which occurred in the 30, 60 and 90, with emphasis on the latter, which incorporates the theory of New Public Management, the basis of this thesis. Focus is on the OS as an optional model for the management of cultural facilities, from the existing reality, motivations, strengths and perspectives and adds a narrative about the design process of the laws of the State of Rio de Janeiro. The research checks how these cultural facilities emerged and how the network formation of Park Libraries occurred. It describes the process of implementation of the Culture Social Organizations in the state and has the manager of libraries and their relationship with the Secretariat of Culture. It concludes that there is need to improve management mechanisms, so that the model can, in fact, provide contribution to access to cultural rights.

Theoretical extensions or path-breaking new theories of internationalization ? An analysis of the marketing management strategies of four chinese multinational enterprises in Europe : late bird catches the worm (too)

Zou, Fanfan 24 November 2015 (has links)
Nowadays researchers of International Business could not possibly fail to notice the phenomenon that the FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) inflows and outflows of the world's developing countries keep increasing at a steady pace, and within this group, China continues to take the lead, showing great momentum both as a recipient of foreign investments and as an investor itself, not only in fellow developing countries, but in developed ones as well. And the main player and driver behind the scene is the country's MNEs (Multinational Enterprises) - latecomers in terms of internationalization, Chinese MNEs are competing their more established competitors, the MNE early-movers, all over the world, including in the home markets of the latter. Existing studies on China’s internationalization fail to reflect its scale and depth; Chinese MNEs as well as the social-economical situation of the country as a whole demonstrate distinct features, which deserve more-focused and case-specific studies. While questions often linger on whether the internationalization process of Chinese MNEs can be explained in terms of mainstream theories derived from early-movers, or in terms of the analyses that have so far been offered for latecomers, we decide to make a contribution to the solution of the question by having a focused examination on the Marketing strategies of four major Chinese MNEs internationalizing into developed country markets, notably West Europe: Huawei, Haier, Lenovo and Geely - all of which are already leaders in the domestic market and actively seeking a global leadership. By juxtaposing propositions derived from the strategic behaviors of Chinese MNEs with existing internationalization theories (both mainstream and alternative), we demonstrate how such theories could evolve in the new context of globalization, and make managerial contributions to both MNE latecomers and early-movers alike.

Borta bra, men hemma bäst?

Frostensson, Ida, Granquist, Louise January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to create an understanding about how and to what extent a Swedish expatriate manager needs to adapt his/her leadership in accordance with the culture of the host country. Thus shall different managers’ perceptions of experienced management overseas be studied. To accomplish our aim, three different problems have been designed. These are as follows: In what way does the manager’s earlier experiences and knowledge about expatriation affect her or his leadership in a new cross-cultural context? How does the culture of the host country affect the expatriate manager’s leadership? How does the expatriate manager handle contradictory demands: that is differences in expectations from subordinates and the higher management? We have chosen to use an abductive approach in order to do a qualitative study and we have therefore conducted eight case studies to create a foundation for distinguishing patterns. The case studies are based on eight Swedish managers with experience from expatriation. The theoretical framework is structured upon three main themes including; knowledge and skills a global leader needs to possess, the relation between the leader and subordinates, and contradictory demands. The theory is followed by a combined empirical data- and analysis chapter where we present our eight respondents, whom are then analyzed and interpreted based on the theory. In the empirical data- and analysis chapter the patterns we have been able to distinguish presented. The three main themes are consistently throughout this chapter. The conclusion of the study is that a managers experiences and knowledges affects his or her leadership and perception of the culture in the host country. Furthermore, we can conclude that a Swedish leadership is applicable in an international context, and that contradictory demands are more distinct at home than in the host country. Finally we can summarize our study by stating that home is good, but overseas may be just as good.

Ferriols Montañana, Ana 23 March 2024 (has links)
[EN] This thesis addresses the relationship between care theory and artistic practice. Since the 1970s, inequality in reproductive and maintenance tasks in relation to gender has been highlighted. The ethics of care arises from the claim of the importance of this type of work, and its central position in social structures, it is a thought that is developed especially in a philosophical and political field. The research carried out shows that there is a strong influence of care thinking and practices on the artistic creation of the 21st century, especially in southern Europe. To address this connection, a study aimed at professionals in Spain, France, Portugal and Italy is proposed. The professional fields under study are those related to curating and cultural management, cultural institutions and, finally, artists and artist collectives. The responses obtained on work practices in relation to care have been analysed and contextualized. Likewise, different paradigmatic cases that present a notable connection with care practices are studied, such as the HUARTE Center in Spain, the Manifesta 12 biennial in Italy or the work of the artist Céline Condorelli in France, among others. From these cases it is confirmed that the influence of care theory has played a relevant role in the artistic field since the 2010s. It is also addressed the role of urban commons as spaces generating care infrastructures and essential points that define an aesthetics of care. Finally, it is concluded that the proposed hypothesis is confirmed, in addition to a thematic classification of the ways in which care is adopted in the contemporary exhibition field. / Ferriols Montañana, A. Le management interculturel en Roumanie : le cas des investissements directs étrangers des PME étrangères / Cross-cultural management in Romania : the case of foreign direct investments of SMEs

Mateescu, Veronica 24 October 2008 (has links)
This thesis, dedicated to the analysis of the cross-cultural management, presents in its first part a literature review in order to comprehend the actual stage of the cross-cultural management research. From this point of view we will approach general aspects of the human resources management and of the organizational culture, perceived as managerial instruments for the management of the cultural differences into an organization (chapter 1). In the following chapters (2 & 3), the analysis concerned the discourse on cultural difference and the post-socialist work ethic, perceived as the major cultural difference that impacts the crosscultural interactions in the foreign enterprises from Romania. These aspects will be developed from an applied perspective in the second part of our thesis. The chapters of the second part of the thesis are dedicated, on one hand, to the analysis of cultural differences management in the foreign SMEs from Romania, and, on the other hand, to a methodological proposition regarding the study of the cross-cultural management in Romania. These analyses and propositions are based on the identification of the main crosscultural management practices in the multinational corporations in Romania, through the analysis of the interviews, from the Romanian economic press, with employees and managers of the multinational corporations and on three case studies on SME with Italian participation on social capital, from textiles and wood industries / Cette thèse, consacrée à l’analyse du management interculturel, présente dans la première partie une revue de la littérature afin d’appréhender l’état actuel des recherches dans le domaine du management interculturel.

Med överlevnad som bonus : fria teatergruppers marknadsföringsstrategier / Survival as a Bonus : the Marketing Strategies of Independent Theater Groups

Jäger, Jessica, Lindström, Freja January 2008 (has links)

Background: The theater market has matured – supply now exceeds demand. Government funds are on a decrease, replaced by other means of financing. The city of Stockholm will be introducing a bonus system that will benefit independent theater groups that succeed to increase their revenue and attendance. Hence, the audience will play an even greater role, a tendency some free theater groups come to terms with by interacting with the audience to create value.

Thesis statement: What factors lead to the long-term survival of the independent theater groups, allowing them to benefit from the imminent bonus system?

Purpose: To analyze and evaluate the marketing strategies of the independent theater groups, in reference to their capability of long-term survival through value creation along with the audience, thereby increasing attendance and ticket revenue.

Methodology: The study combines quantitative and qualitative approaches and methods. Interviews were conducted with the producers at three independent theater groups in the city of Stockholm. The questionnaire was answered by 90 members of the independent theater group audience.

Areas of theory: Value creation, marketing communication and customer characteristics.

Results: There is a lack of coherence between the marketing strategies of the independent theater groups and the characteristics of the audience. Hence, the independent theater groups are currently facing poor conditions for long-term survival through growth in audience and revenue. However, if the strategies are adjusted to the audience’s inclination to participate in the value creation, the conditions may improve.

Conclusions: The important factors leading to long-term survival of the independent theater groups, thereby increasing audience participation and ticket revenue, are: ”Co-production of values”, ”Enabling” and ”Word of mouth”. Co-production of value must however not apply to the artistry, since the audience seems to guard artistic freedom.
/

Contested Landscapes/Contested Heritage : history and heritage in Sweden and their archaeological implications concerning the interpretation of the Norrlandian past

Loeffler, David January 2005 (has links)

This case study explores how geo-political power structures influence and/or determine the conception, acceptance and maintenance of what is considered to be valid archaeological knowledge. The nature of this contingency is exemplified through an examination of how the prehistory of Norrland, a region traditionally considered and portrayed as peripheral vis-à-vis the centre-South, was interpreted and presented by Swedish archaeologists during the 20th century. This contextual situation is analysed through the implementation of three interrelated and complimentary perspectives;

1) The relationship between northern and southern Sweden is examined using concepts concerning the nature of colonialism, resulting in the formulation of 20 particulars that typify the colonial experience, circumstances that characterise the historical, and unequal, association that has existed between these two regions for the last 600 years.

2) Ideals of national identity and heritage as manufactured and employed by the kingdom and later by the nation-state, with the assistance of antiquarianism, archaeology and/or centralised cultural management, are outlined. The creation of these various concepts have reinforced and perpetuated the colonial and asymmetrical association between what has naturally come to be viewed as the peripheral-North and the centre-South.

3) A century of archaeological research into the Norrlandian past is studied using the concepts ‘thoughtstyle’ and ‘thought-collective’ as devised by Ludwik Fleck. This analysis disclosed a persistent set of reoccurring explanations that have constantly been invoked when interpreting and presenting the prehistory of Norrland. This archaeological thought-style has normalised the unbalanced power relationship between North and South that has existed for the last 600 years by projecting it far back into the prehistoric past.

This case study has demonstrated that archaeologists, unless acutely aware of the historical context in which they themselves move and work, risk legitimising debilitating economic and political power relationships in the present through their study and presentation of the past.
