Icke värdeskapande aktiviteter inom byggproduktion

Berggren, Olof, Kjellberg, Linus January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to enlighten Boetten Bygg ABconcerning Lean Construction and its methods, which can benefittheir work towards reduction of non-valuable activities during theproduction phase. The examination took place at two projects thatBoetten is working with in Sigtuna and Sollentuna. Both projectswere in the same phase. The method used were to visit the projectsand get an overview of how they’re working today. This was done byattending weekly meetings between the leading parties from Boettenas well as the leading persons from each of the contractors, wealso handed out a survey where the participants evaluate theproblems that can occur. The literature study lifts the basic principles of LeanConstruction, where we have chosen to focus on three differentLean methods that may help Boetten to decrease the wastingactivities in their future projects. We adressed the procurementof a project to lift the pros and cons that this contributes. Byusing this theory, we have discussed the subject round thequestion formulation: •Where in the production process is the biggest potential fordecreasing wasting activities? •Which Lean methods would generate the most valuable improvementadjusted to their organization? •How can Boetten go through with a change in the productionprocess? The gathered result shows the three dominating problem areas werewaiting, the arrangement on the construction site and thecommunication between involved parties. Based on the result wediscussed Boettens way of working to narrate, with grounds fromthe literature study, how an improvement may be carried out. Thestudy shows that an implementation of Lean Construction has thepossibility to minimize the wastage. The methods which wereconsidered to make the biggest change concerning wastingactivities were 5S, Just-In-Time and Last Planner. In order forthis to be possible, a strategy decision is required at amanagement level

The role of civil society in promoting greater social justice for forced migrants living in the inner city of Johannesburg

Mbombo, Dieudonne Bikoko 03 April 2008 (has links)
ABSTRACT This paper analyses what has arguably become a salient feature of a ‘just city’ and social development on an international level, namely social justice. Specifically, it focuses on the role of the Johannesburg’s civil society organisations in promoting greater social justice for forced migrants (refugees and asylum seekers) living in the downtown Johannesburg. For this purpose, a case study was carried out, particularly with Africa’s forced migrants living in the inner city of Johannesburg (in Hillbrow and Yeoville). The research makes use of in-depth interview and participant observation methods to uncover the perspectives of a group of refugees and asylum seekers and members of seven civil society organisations, working with forced migrants in Johannesburg. The main research question that the study addresses is: What role can civil society organisations play in facilitating greater social justice for Africa’s asylum seekers and refugees living in the inner city of Johannesburg? I have concluded that Johannesburg’s civil society organisations have the potential, which may allow them to bring social transformation and create a just city by promoting a greater social justice for forced migrants living in the inner city. To achieve this goal, they should play a reformative and transformative role in the inner city, by challenging government exclusionary policies and decisions relating to the forced migrants; and, at the same time, they should mediate between the government and forced migrants at the local and national levels. To conclude this report, I recommended civil society organisations to develop strong collaboration with the city’s planners for a better improvement of the quality of life of forced migrants in the inner city. I also recommend the national government to decentralise its decision-making power on international migration issues by conferring to the provinces and local governments certain power which can allow them to develop internal structures (taking into account the context of each province), which can allow them to protect the basic rights of refugees and asylum seekers, such as the rights to work, to study, and to access free health care.

A User Study of the Just Noticeable Difference in Animation Level of Detail Set in a Game Environment

Flood, Petter, Hallin, Emil January 2019 (has links)
Background. A previous study on performance benefits of joint reduction for animations was made by the authors of this thesis. The results of the study showed that a reduction in joint count is highly beneficial for performance. What that study left out was the perception of Level of Detail (LoD) of animations, and what the Just Noticeable Difference (JND) of a percentage decrease on the joint count would be. Thus motivating a study on peoples’ perception of animation quality. Objectives. The aim is to study the perception of LoD of animations in a game-like environment whilst doing a simple search-and-click task. Aiming to find the JND between animations with a different number of joints while the players are set with a task that does not involve interacting with the characters performing the animation. Methods. A psychophysical experiment was performed using a game implementation in Unity. Unity was chosen because it has easy access to develop scripts and a game environment. Furthermore, it has a marketplace where already made content can be downloaded and reused, which made the user study much easier to create. Results. A total of 85.71% did not see any difference between the different qualities used for the animations. The 14.29% that saw a difference in the animations all saw the difference between the lowest and the one next to the lowest quality animation. Conclusions. Three out of 21 participants were able to see a difference in the lowest animation quality, whilst no one saw any difference in the other qualities. Thus, people were not able to see a density reduction of up to 62.26% fewer joints for the chosen animation. Due to the low number of positive detections in the quality change of the animations, the JND could not be reliably computed.

Lean production system : Implementering av Lean samt dess hinder utifrån ett organisatoriskt perspektiv / Lean production system : Implementation of Lean as well as its obstacles from an organizational perspective

Omar, Khaled, Salihovic, Ervin January 2018 (has links)
In this report entitled Lean production system- Implementation of Lean as well as its obstacles from an organizational perspective, the categories of organization theory and Lean production system are examined in the context of the report's study of a vehicle-making company. Specifically, the focus is on organizational cultures, conflicts and motivational theories, but also development and improvement processes, different types of waste and leadership. Attention is given to creating a deeper understanding of how an existing organizational culture is influenced by implementation of Lean production systems and how wastes can occur.  One of the intentions of the report is to describe and analyze why organizations that implement and carry out Lean production systems and integrate this into their own production system can experience difficulties and help organizations not achieve their full potentials. The present report uses, for example, in this study the company Volvo Cars in Gothenburg, categorized as a Lean hybrid. A Lean hybrid is a company that implemented Lean production system with its own production system and adheres to the principles lean pro duction system advocates. An important aspect that underpins the purpose isto be able to describe the consequences that are likely to be followed when organizations do not adapt the structures in their production systems according to the Lean production system and what it advocates on continuous improvement efforts and efforts to eliminate waste. Conversely, this means that if existing production systems following certain principles and premises, the tools and methods provided by the Lean production system should be valid and effective in the goal of improving and simplifying.  The purpose of the report was to investigate why organizations with existing production systems encounter obstacles and problems in implementing and carrying through Lean production systems in their organizations, as well as the influence of organizational culture and approaches in this process.   The method of assessment of the report consists of qualitative and quantitative methods with a focus on qualitative methodology. A literature study has been conducted through the databases offered by the university. Data collection has been through observation, interviews and simulations to get a full-view perspective at the current moment in Volvo Cars in Gothenburg.  The report's results show that a specific organizational culture can contribute to the creation or continuation of production-reducing factors such as waste, inertia in information & instruction flow, subcultures, conflicts and lack of motivation. However, it also emphasizes the importance of organizational culture policy being embodied at all levels in an organizational structure. Problems and obstacles can thus be created and arise when there is no common value base for leadership, education and competence development. One consequence of this is that production-lowering factors tend to be embedded in existing and standardized practices, where improvement efforts paradoxically create a negative development of production processes and eventually develop into Type II wastes.

En hållbar logistiklösning för Järntorgets projekt Klarbäret / A sustainable construciton logistics solution for the project Klarbäret

Eriksson, Victoria, Unnerfelt, Fanny January 2019 (has links)

Olofsson, Joel, Eriksson, Mattias January 2019 (has links)
To take advantage of all buildable ground in city and exploit already existing infrastructure for a more efficient society high demands are therefore placed on logistics around large construction projects. Travel center in Västerås will be raised in the same place as existing buildning, while the business will be operational during the construction and the goal with the project work is to identify and present logistic solutions and evaluate, compare and adapt these to new travel center in Västerås. What is being investigated among other things is, ”What is the problem with construction traffic and logistics in large infrastructure projects in urban areas?”. In order to find information and answers of questions a literature study, case study, study visits and interviews are used. Logistics is the strategy that involves planning, development, coordination, organization and control of material flows from supplier. Construction logistics differ considerably from traditional logistics in, for example, the manufacturing industry, since each project is unique. Among other things, consideration must be given to environmental impacts such as noise environmental impact and sustainability, but also transport distances and social aspects. Examples of logistic strategies include supply chain management, lean production, just in time, construction logistic centers, Vendor-controlled inventory. This study focuses primarily on the problems that arise in urban areas and how deliveries of building materials are handled. Work within the railroads track area also entails challenges and special rules. The planning of new construction of the travel center in Västerås is divided into seven different stages at the time of writing, where the railway acts as a barrier between these. The construction project manager for the project has experience from previous projects in the urban area and believes that solutions must be adapted to projects. It is seldom easy to use the same solution in another location without modifying it according to the project's conditions. Building logistics implicates great complexity as many players are involved. The problem around construction traffic and logistics in large infrastructure projects is that is has negativ impact on the enviroment and it disrupts the trafic. Project ”Slussen” in Stockholm used a logistics center and from there used the method Just In Time to the workplace with materials that would be used within three days. A material storage in another location is a better alternative than a material storage on site and a solution for logistics management for the travel center is to use logistics center in the harbour and Mälarhamnar can act as third party logistics partner in the project.

Novas perspectivas do instrumento de desapropriação: a incorporação de príncipios urbanísticos e ambientais / New perspectives on the instrument of the expropriation: the incorporation of planning and environmental principles

Santos, Cacilda Lopes dos 27 March 2008 (has links)
Expropriation is planning tool widely used in Brazil in many other countries. In Brazil, legal fundament of expropriation is given by the Decreto-lei nº. 3365, of 21 of July of 1941 and Lei nº. 4132, of 10 of September of 1962, that have dealt, respectively, with expropriation for public utility and for social interest. It is previous, therefore, to the Federal Constitution of 1988, that has introduced a new urban order in which the principle of the social function of the property and urban planning are emphasized. In order regulate the Federal Constitution´s chapter on urban policy, it was edited, in 2001, the Estatuto da Cidade that includes expropriation among the legal instruments of the urban politics and regulates it as dispossession-sanction. The Dissertation discusses main aspects of property and the instrument of the expropriation in the Brazilian law, and in foreign legislation, analyzing models and methods used in expropriation for public utility, social, planning and environment interests. Also the concept of just price of compensation and the main problems of application of the instrument are studied. Case studies are presented. The work finishes by suggesting measures for making the instrument most efficient considering the current situation of the Brazilian State and its Public Administrations

Pax spinozana: direito natural e direito justo em Espinosa / Pax spinozana: natural law and just law in Spinoza

Andrade, Fernando Dias 14 February 2001 (has links)
There are four main ideas in this thesis: first, the idea that Spinozas political philosophy expresses a philosophy of law, and that it is necessary to consider Spinoza as a political philosopher not only as a thinker about right and law but also as an authentic jurist who has a dialogue with the legal theories of his time and even with those who came before the modern jusnaturalist tradition (and who also in what is relevant, becomes a pioneer of con-temporary legal theory); second, the idea that Spinoza formulates a theory of natural right and civil right that totally discredits the legitimacy of the core terms of jusnaturalism in its prime (this is the time when Pufendorf is preparing his first writings about natural right and peoples right), which demands a juridical and political language that abolishes the jusnaturalist concepts, and which also makes Spinoza an anti-jusnaturalist before Hegel; third, the idea that his anti-jusnaturalist political-legal theory is a theory of politics as de-mocracy and of legitimacy as justice or fairness in democracy, which also makes him an an-ti-positivist reference before, for example, John Rawls, and a jurist of the fair right before, for example, Stammler; and finally, the idea that the Spinozian theory of democracy ex-presses a theoretical pacifism in sixteenth century terms (not in the perspective of a politi-cal science abut war and peace, but in the ethical and ontological perspective of political experience: a juridical ethics or a theory of justice, in Spinozian terms). Implemented, this project allows not only the systematization of the Spinozian legal philosophy, but also an analysis (inspired in Spinoza) of the foundations of the juridical order, as well as an analysis of all the thinking related to this practice. This analysis is not a philosophical eccentricity for two reasons: first, because it is exactly what Spinoza himself had left to the last chapters of his Political treatise; second, because in no few aspects the contemporary juridical practice is wrongly far from the Spinozian idea of right as democratical right concept produced by a jurid-ical rationalism that wants to lead simultaneously to the truthful and the peaceful.

Intervention? Yes, it’s Just War : Analyzing the possibilities of justifying a U.S. intervention according to the Just War Theory

Nasri, Carl-Christian January 2019 (has links)
This study will focus on examining the probabilities of justifying military interventions. In order to conduct this study, the U.S. will be the subject of interest. The paper will discuss and analyze the case of justifying an intervention by the U.S. in Syria. The analysis will be based on the Just War Theory by the medieval philosopher Thomas Aquinas. To be able to conduct this study, official statements by the US government will be used to understand their reasoning concerning the subject. Mainly, statements will from the current and former heads of state, the American presidents, be analyzed. In the analysis of the paper, the criteria of the Just War Theory will be applied to the U.S. case with the objective to determine if the statements could justify an intervention. The outcome of Discussion and Conclusion reached the result that it would be justifiable for the U.S. to intervene in Syria. However, it becomes clear that the question of legitimate warfare and interventions are more complex than expected.

A defence of ideal theory approaches to just choice

Drever, Andrew William January 2017 (has links)
One of the most common goals of political theory is to inform just choice; with ‘just choice’ referring to the class of practical, political decisions that result in society becoming more just. However, important questions can be asked about the best way political theory can perform this informing function. In this thesis I look to answer some of these questions through my defence of an ideal theory approach to just choice. This approach claims that ideals, that is, conceptions of the rules that would govern a fully just society, are necessary in order to arrive at just choices. I look to show the conditions ideal theory and ideals have to satisfy in order to perform this just choice informing role. In doing this this thesis underlabours for ideal theory by providing theoretical support for future substantive work in this area. This thesis proceeds as follows. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the structure of the thesis, the main areas of debate, and the implications of my research. Chapter 2 addresses the fundamental question discussed above, seeking to demonstrate that it is only when our choices are informed by ideals that we are consistently able to make just choices. Chapter 3 considers the distinction between short-term choice, which aims to make society immediately more similar to an ideal, and long-term choice, which aims to ultimately realise an ideal in full. I look to show the conditions that ideals have to satisfy in order to inform each type of just choice. Particularly important here are the feasibility conditions that have to be met by ideals that are to inform long-term choice. Chapter 4 considers a conundrum confronting those aiming to make just choices. All other things being equal long-term choice offers greater rewards than short-term choice does; however short-term choice is lower risk, requiring less investment of political resources such as time, labour, and money, and promising more likely returns on these investments. In this chapter I look to show the conditions that have to hold for it to be defensible to favour a long-term approach over a short-term approach. Chapter 5 considers whether the methods required of ideal theory, particularly the feasible ideal theory required of long-term choice, may be inherently contradictory. This is due to possible tensions between fact-sensitive and fact-insensitive aspects of the theorising process. In this chapter I look to show that this is not the case and that the ideal theory process is not contradictory. Chapter 6 summarises my key arguments and reflects on some of the main themes of this thesis.
