Thesis (M. Tech. (Office management & Technology)) -- Vaal University of Technology / The primary objective of this research project was primarily to investigate filing methods
and mailing practices in the computer support or administrative environment with specific
focus on the abuse of paper.
The research design consisted of an exploratory investigation in selected Higher
Education Institutions in the Province of Gauteng whereby a structured questionnaire was
used as a measuring instrument. The investigation was sub-divided into two categories,
namely, paper-based filing systems and mailing systems as opposed to electronic filing
and mailing systems.
In the empirical findings, analysis and interpretations, correlation and cross-tabulation
were done on all sets of variables in order to determine whether any meaningful
associations could be found.
With reference to the title of this study "Combating the corporate paper war: optimising
electronic mail and electronic filing", it has been proven that the war against paper abuse
is far from over. Perceptions regarding a future paperless office and assumptions that
technology such as the electronic mail facility and electronic filing could assist
organisations to combat paper abuse were unfounded, due to a lack of guidance and
control measures in the corporate environment.
Consequently, it is recommended that an e-filing and e-mailing model be created and
followed in conjunction with specified computer software features in order to counteract
the abuse of paper.
Follow-up research could focus on electronic filing methods versus scanning of
documents for filing purposes.

The central issue is the optimization of courier service in the capital city Minsk and the surrounding area based on the customer demand. Therefore there is a need to introduce a new product, which will help to order books through catalogue and having them delivered by post, saving both, time and energy. The thesis is based on actual experience and its conclusions can be used in business practice.

pessoas
aumentou a capacidade e a qualidade dos recursos
técnicos
de distribuição de
informação e conhecimento. O correio eletrônico agiliza
processos, facilita a troca
de informações, e proporciona uma economia de tempo e
dinheiro. Mas qual é o
efeito nas relações de trabalho? As tecnologias podem
facilitar os trabalhos em
conjunto? É necessário pensar a comunicação
organizacional
como a
possibilidade de interlocução entre colaboradores, e
como
um mecanismo de
gestão colaborativa. Este trabalho visa a identificar
qual
é o papel do correio
eletrônico na comunicação organizacional, decifrando as
suas principais
características de uso. A pesquisa realizada foi do tipo
exploratória, com base em
entrevistas com 15 pessoas que atuam em diferentes áreas
e
níveis hierárquicos de
grandes e pequenas empresas. Como resultado deste
trabalho, destaca-se a
percepção de que o e-mail tornou-se um componente tido
como indispensável à
dinâmica das organizações e que os indivíduos verificam
uma relação de quase
dependência deste instrumento. No geral, ele é percebido
como sendo um meio
de comunicação prático, rápido, direto, objetivo e
eficaz.
A percepção é a de que o
e-mail agiliza e flexibiliza o processo de trabalho. Mas
há situações em que a
comunicação presencial é necessária e não deve ser
substituída, assim como o
telefone. Dentre os aspectos que afetam positivamente a
comunicação, os
entrevistados destacaram o clima organizacional e o
relacionamento interpessoal.
Dentre os aspectos que afetam negativamente, a estrutura
hierárquica muito
rígida, a dificuldade e/ou a falta de integração entre
as
áreas da empresa aparecem
como sendo os principais na opinião dos entrevistados. / [en] The arrival of the Information Technology (IT) to the
reality of the people
increased the quality and capacity of the technical
resources for the distribution of
information and knowledge. The e-mail speeds processes,
facilitates the exchange
of information, and provides for an economy of time and
money. But what is its
effect into the work relations? Can technologies
facilitate the performance in work
groups? It is necessary to think on the organizational
communication as the
possibility of interlocution between collaborators, and as
a mechanism of
collaborative management. This work aims to identify which
is the function of the
e-mail in the organizational communication, deciphering
its main characteristics
of use. This was an exploratory research, based on
interviews with 15 people who
act in different areas and hierarchic levels of big and
small companies. As a result
of this work, a distinguished perception that the e-mail
became an indispensable
component to the dynamics of organizations and that the
individuals verify a
relation of almost dependence to this instrument. In
general, it is perceived as
being a practical, fast, direct, objective and efficient
media. The perception is that
the e-mail speeds up and stretches the work process. But
it has situations where
the interpersonal communication is necessary and it should
not have to be
substituted, as well as the telephone. Amongst the aspects
that affect the
communication positively, the interviewed subjects
depicted the organizational
environment and the interpersonal relationship. Amongst
the negative aspects, the
very rigid hierarchic structure and the difficulty and/or
lack of integration within
the areas of the companies, were mentioned as being the
main concern of the
interviewed.

Den allt mer digitaliserade arbetsmarknaden medför att flexibiliteten hos medarbetarna blir ett faktum. Arbete kan ske var som helst, när som helst, vilket ställer höga krav på medarbetare då tillgängligheten samtidigt ökar. Gränser mellan arbete och privat tid luckras upp och det blir allt svårare att bibehålla en sund balans mellan livssfärerna. Studien syftar till att undersöka hur kommunalt anställda medarbetare inom Human Resources upplever användningen av sin arbetsmejl under och utanför arbetstid. De frågeställningar studien har för avsikt att besvara är hur medarbetarna upplever mejlen som arbetsverktyg, hur medarbetarna påverkas psykosocialt av förekomsten av arbetsmejl samt hur de upplever gränsdragningen mellan arbetstid och privat tid. De teorier som studien vilar på är krav- och kontrollmodellen samt gränslöst arbete. För att söka svar på studiens syfte och frågeställningar har kvalitativa intervjuer med fem HR-medarbetare genomförts. De framkomna resultaten har sedan tolkats och analyserats utifrån en hermeneutisk ansats, där det framkommer att medarbetarna upplever mejlen som en begränsande faktor i sin arbetsdag på grund av förekomsten av otillräcklig information vid ärenden och arbetsuppgifter. Medarbetarna uppger enhälligt att en överbelamrad inkorg skapar en känsla av förlorad kontroll vilket resulterar i ökat stresspåslag. Även förväntningar på tillgänglighet och återkoppling kan uppfattas som något lamslående. Det förekommer skilda meningar om var gränsen mellan arbete och privat tid ska dras. Några medarbetare ser det som en fördel att låta sfärerna inkräkta på varandra då det medför en ökad känsla av egenkontroll genom att möjliggöra mejlkorrespondens på den privata tiden medan andra anser att en otydlig åtskillnad av sfärerna avsevärt medför negativa konsekvenser för den egna hälsan. / The increasing digitalisation of the labour market resulting in a flexibility among employees become a fact. Work can be executed anywhere at any time which sets higher demands on the employees since there is an increase in accessibility. The boundaries between work and personal life disintegrates and obtaining a healthy balance between the spheres gets more difficult to obtain. This study aims to examine how municipal employees in Human Resources perceive the use of work mail during and outside of work hours. The formulates questions regards how employees experience mail as a work instrument, the psychosocial effects work mail bring the employees as well as how they experience the demarcation between work and personal life. The study relies on the demand-control model as well as the borderless work. In order to answer the purpose of the study and the formulated questions, qualitative interviews have been carried out with five participants from the municipal HR-department. The results were subsequently interpreted and analysed by a hermeneutic approach. It appeared that the employees experience their mail as a limiting element in their workday due to the occurrence of the inadequate information provided in assignments and various errands. The employees unanimously state that a cluttered inbox generate in a loss of control and result in an increased level of stress, present expectations of accessibility and feedback can be experienced as paralysing. There are different opinions about whether the boundary between work and private time should be applied. Some employees see it as an advantage to let the spheres encroach on each other as it leads to an increased sense of self-control by enabling correspondence on the private time while others consider that an unclear separation of the spheres strictly entails negative consequences for their own health.

Nesse cenário, analisa-se não só a evolução histórica do direito do trabalho e da internet, mas também as fontes, as garantias geradoras da controvérsia (o poder diretivo e de propriedade X o direito à privacidade, intimidade e a inviolabilidade de correspondência), as ferramentas utilizadas, as formas e limites do monitoramento e por fim sua repercussão no âmbito juslaboral no Brasil e no mundo, com o escopo de apresentar medidas preventivas, pacificadoras e que harmonizem as garantias sociais outrora conquistadas. Trata-se, sem dúvida, de assunto polêmico, controvertido, ainda tratado de forma superficial pela doutrina, pouco enfrentado, da mesma forma, pelos Tribunais, ressalvando a relevância e o próprio caráter de novidade exigidos em pesquisas de pós-graduação como a presente. / This work approaches the impacts of the technological revolution, mainly the impacts caused by the worldwide computers network (here, the internet) that brought alterations in old patterns, especially in the employee-employer relationship. In this scenario, this work analyzes the historic evolution of the labor law and the internet, the sources and some principles which creates controversy (such as the employer\'s directive power and property right versus the rights to privacy, intimacy, and the non-violation of mail), the tools, the forms and limits of the control and, finally, its repercussion in the labor law in Brazil and in the world with the scope to present certain preventive and conciliatory procedures, that harmonize those social principles achieved a long time ago. This subject is certainly controversial and is still treated in a superficial way by the law thinkers, as well as, by the Courts. Thus, this work highlights the relevance and the innovative character required in a graduation research.

『大就是美』的時代過去了,今天這個時代講究的是『小就是美』或是『短、小、輕、薄』。本研究主要以台北市25-59 歲民眾為研究對象,探討下列各項問題:
1.瞭解民眾購買郵購產品之種類及郵購訊息來源為何?2.郵購經驗之有無、人口統計變數與郵購壽險產品態度因素是否有關?3.民眾郵購經驗與生活型態因素是否有關? 4.民眾之生活型態與其對郵購壽險產品態度是否有關? 5.郵購經驗與人口統計變數是否有關?本研究委託抽樣公司以隨機抽樣法進行抽樣,收集到有效問卷238份,經因素分析、典型相關分析、變異數分析、相關分析、卡方檢定及項目分析後,獲得以下幾點結論: 1.郵購產品以書籍與雜誌最常為消費者所購買,而郵購訊息來源主要是雜誌、廣告函與報紙。 2.一般民眾對於郵購壽險產品態度主要分為兩種,一是『郵購壽險便利之態度』,另一是『郵購壽險接受與處理態度』。 3.經因素分析後,萃取出生活型態因素共十一個,發現有郵購經驗者之生活型態傾向於「偏好新產品」、及追求新知」兩因素。4.有郵購經驗者比無經驗者對於郵購壽險產品之接受與處理持較積極之態度。 5.郵購經驗與人口統計變數中之「教育程度」、「月所得」、及「投保情形」有關。

<p>This thesis gives the reader an understanding for newsletters within e-commerce, and how to work with them as a channel for marketing. Furthermore it explains the technical and graphical demands, and how to ensure that the newsletter reaches the intended receivers.</p><p>A successful newsletter can entice people to shop, but can also help to strengthen a brand and the relationship between the customer and the company. During the writing of the thesis, it has emerged that the most important part of a newsletter (which also determine whether or not the receiver reads the letter) are the subject heading, sender, layout, headlines,images and the deregistration link.</p><p>A part from working with the different parts of the letter, the sender should also be aware of the technical and graphical demands. Since the E-mail clients are looking out forimages, fonts that are not embedded in the computer, and for questionable words there’s a big risk for ending up in a spam filter when not considering the demands. To ensure that the letter reaches the receivers it is common to test it against spam filter, look at it in the different E-mail clients, use A/B split test and finally test what time and day that fits the receivers the best.</p><p>One of the strongest arguments to use E-mail communication is because it is an extremely measurable medium. With help from special programmes one can easily find out which E-mails bounced, why they bounced, how many opened the E-mail, which links they clicked, who deregistered and who forwarded it. <p>In today’s competitive global economy, the focus is on faster delivery of orders at lower total costs. In this paper we are interested in several aspects of order picking systems. We examine the influence of station layout, storage policy, picking policy and sorting solution on order picking system performance. On each of the analysis we consider a few solutions. We determine influence of different number of station in raw on picking system performance. We design the replenishment system supported by kanban philosophy with implemented economical order quantity (EOQ) and reorder point (ROP). The picking system is designed for assumed product’s demand values. The assessment of each of the solution is done through Arena simulation model. The results show that properly designed station with reasonable storage policy and implemented batching policy brings significant raise in order picking system productivity. In addition, we found that proper sortation system logic allows for more equal workload and reduction of maximum queue lengths. The results offer solutions to managers looking to implement improvements in order picking systems.</p>
