Kulturarvets själ och karaktär jämlik för alla : en studie om till- och frångänglighet i Kalmar residens / The soul and character of a cultural heritage equally for all : a study about accessibility and accessible evacuation (egress) in Kalmar residence

Detta arbete har genomförts för att visa att det går att kombinera tillgänglighet och frångänglighetslösningar i ett skyddat kulturminne, i detta fall just Kalmar residens, utan att förvanska byggnaden.  Arbetet utfördes som en fallstudie. Genom att studera lagar, förordningar och regler samt intervjua sakkunniga och jämföra lösningar på andra byggnadsminnen skall residenset bli tillgängligt. Målet med detta arbete är att leverera ett lösningsförslag. Förslaget skall också kunna användas som inspiration till framtida projekteringar av liknande komplexa slag.  Studien resulterade i att det finns behov av mer lagar samt regler om frångänglighet och att tillgänglighet är en aspekt som borde tas mer hänsyn till i kulturarvsbyggnader. Det är viktigt att alla skall kunna ta del av samhället på samma villkor. / This analysis has been conducted to show that it is possible to combine accessibility, accessible evacuation and cultural heritage buildings, in this case especially Kalmar residence, without distorting the building.  The study was performed as a case study. By studying laws, regulations and rules as well as interviewing experts and comparing solutions with other buildings, the residence will become accessible. The aim of this work is to deliver a solution proposal. This proposal should also be used as an inspiration for future projects of similar complex types.  The study has come to the conclusion that there is a need for more laws and rules on accessible evacuation and that accessibility is an aspect that should be taken more into consideration in cultural heritage buildings. It is important that everyone can take part in society on an equal basis.

AS (IM)POSSIBILIDADES DO ENSINO DA FILOSOFIA EM UM CURSO PREPARATÓRIO PARA O VESTIBULAR / THE (IM) POSSIBILITIES OF TEACHING PHILOSOPHY IN A PREPARATORY COURSE FOR ENTRANCE EXAM

This doctoral thesis is part of a line of research on the topic School Practices and Public Policies from the Program of Graduate Studies of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). Its object of study is a reflection on the teaching of philosophy in a preparatory course for the entrance exam, which emerged from the dialogue between the readings in Michel Foucault and my teaching practice. The overall objective of this thesis is to discuss the limits and possibilities of teaching philosophy as a technologie of the self that is constituted as resistance to political governanment in a preparatory course for the entrance exam. The study analyzes, from a Foucauldian inspiration, the conditions for the emergence of the discourse about the importance of philosophy in the entrance exam to UFSM and its implications; the limits to problematize and the (im) possibilities to produce the teaching of philosophy in a preparatory course for the entrance exam; and it proposes that a governamentality technology may constitute a government technology itself that points to an ethical dimension founded in the care of life and truth. To confirm the thesis former students of the preparatory course for the entrance exam, enrolled in the first and second half of the years 2012 and 2013 in the discipline of Philosophy (the investigated universe consists of 855 students) were interviewed. Through the interviews we could confirm the thesis that teaching philosophy in a preparatory course for the entrance exam may be a space of resistance to this neoliberal governmentality in that it becomes a practice of the self. / A presente tese de doutorado insere-se na Linha de Pesquisa de Práticas Escolares e Políticas Públicas do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM). O objeto de estudo é uma reflexão sobre o ensino da Filosofia, em um curso preparatório para o vestibular, a qual surgiu do diálogo entre as leituras em Michel Foucault e a minha prática docente. O objetivo geral desta tese é problematizar os limites e as possibilidades de ensinar Filosofia como uma técnica de si que se constitua como resistência ao governamento político em um curso preparatório para o vestibular. No estudo, analisam-se, a partir de uma inspiração foucaultiana, as condições de emergência do discurso sobre a importância da Filosofia no vestibular da UFSM e suas implicações; problematizam-se os limites e as (im) possibilidades para produzir o ensino da Filosofia em um curso preparatório para o vestibular; e se propõe que uma tecnologia de governamentalidade pode se constituir numa tecnologia de governo de si que aponte para uma dimensão ética fundada no cuidado com a vida e com a verdade. Para confirmar a tese foram entrevistados ex-alunos do curso preparatório para o vestibular, matriculados no primeiro e segundo semestres dos anos de 2012 e 2013 na disciplina de Filosofia (o universo investigado é constituído por 855 alunos). Por meio das entrevistas pudemos confirmar a tese de que ensinar Filosofia em um curso preparatório para o vestibular pode se constituir em um espaço de resistência a esta governamentalidade neoliberal na medida em que se converte numa prática de si.

Diferentes aprendizagens na perspectiva de alunos de um curso pré-vestibular comunitário

The research question in the students point of view, what do they learn at Prodam? , has arisen from the assumption that, at this type of preparatory courses, several kinds of learning processes take place. Therefore, our goal has been to determine, from the students perspective, what sort of learning processes they go through, considering a wide range of aspects. In order to accomplish it, we conducted field observations, registered it in journals and, afterwards, did semi-structured interviews. The methodology has its basis on the qualitative research approach. The theoretical referential is based on Gimeno, Pérez Gómez, Freire, Edwards, Certeau, among other researchers. To analyze the data, we used the thematic analysis, because, through this technique, we could understand the meanings behind the interviews and field observation. The data collected were divided into two major categories, based on the concepts of humanization and secundary socialization, by Gómez. From students and former students statements, we have observed subcategories that show that it is possible to: learn in order to pass the entrance exam , learn from the teachers and learn high school subjects , according to the perspective of learning as a second socialization process. The other subcategories learn from friends , learn from the differences and learning as overcoming , relate to the category of learning as a humanization process. Talking to the students and former students, and considering the observations, we have noticed that the preparatory course is a space of possibilities . These possibilities are related to changes, transformation of lives, connected to the humanization, once they are conditions for survival and enrichment. As we learned that going to this course made it possible for teenagers and adults to get to know new people , make friends , learn from the differences , improve at work , have new dreams , we understood that is was possible to feel the humanization process even in an environment where the acquisition of instruments to pass the entrance exams of universities is the primary objective. We have also been able to detect, from the students testimonies, their questions and analysis about this course being free of charges, the difficulties to learn despite teacher turnover and, finally, their criticism towards public High School education. / A pesquisa, da qual se originou este trabalho, foi realizada no Curso Pré-Vestibular Comunitário Prodam, na cidade de São Carlos SP. A questão de pesquisa na visão dos alunos, quais são as aprendizagens envolvidas no Cursinho Prodam? , partiu do pressuposto de que nos Cursinhos Pré-Vestibulares Populares são desencadeados diversos processos educativos, assim nosso objetivo geral foi conhecer, pela perspectiva dos alunos, as aprendizagens envolvidas neste Curso Pré-Vestibular Popular. Para contemplarmos este objetivo, realizamos observações de campo, registros em diários e posteriormente, entrevistas semi-estruturadas. A metodologia esteve pautada na abordagem qualitativa de pesquisa. O referencial teórico foi seguido com base em Gimeno, Pérez Gómez, Freire, Edwards, Certeau, entre outros pesquisadores. Para análise dos dados recorremos à Análise Temática, pois foi possível, a partir desta técnica, compreender os significados contidos nos dados obtidos através das entrevistas e observações de campo. Os dados coletados foram organizados em duas grandes categorias, com base nos conceitos de humanização e socialização secundária, de Gómez. A partir dos depoimentos dos alunos e ex-alunos surgiram subcategorias que mostram ser possível aprender para o acesso ao ensino superior , aprender com os professores e aprender conteúdos do ensino médio , dentro da perspectiva do aprender enquanto processo de Socialização Secundária. As outras subcategorias, aprender com as amizades , aprender com as diferenças e aprender enquanto superação , relacionaram-se com a categoria do aprender enquanto processo de humanização. Ao dialogarmos com os alunos, ex-alunos, e a partir das observações, percebemos que o Cursinho é um espaço de possibilidades . Estas possibilidades estão relacionadas com a mudança, com a transformação de vidas, ligadas à humanização, ao serem condição de sobrevivência e de enriquecimento. Ao sabermos que freqüentar o cursinho possibilitou aos jovens e adultos conhecer novas pessoas , fazer amizades , aprender com as diferenças , melhorar no trabalho , ter novos sonhos , compreendemos que humanizar-se era possível, mesmo num espaço onde a instrumentalização para realização de vestibulares era primordial. Os depoimentos dos alunos também apontaram para um questionamento sobre a gratuidade do cursinho, as dificuldades de aprender com a rotatividade do corpo docente e, para uma crítica ao Ensino Médio Público.

It also aimed to analyze the relationship between the schools they were coming from and university entrance as well as the relationship between university and their new students. In the first part of the work, which focused on school knowledge, a comprehensive listening of the speeches of the students led primarily to a distinction, established by the students, between public and private schools, a distinction especially based on the view of superiority of private schools against public ones. The abovementioned interpretation is found in the discussion of the structural duality of Brazilian education which, historically, offers different pedagogical appliances among students of more priviledged social classes and those who come from lower levels of society. The overcome of this duality, aspired by the Brazilian Constitution of 1988, was stopped by the advent of a new economic model neoliberalism, which reinforced the differences between public and private when it prioritized the market on the economic, political and social relations, including educational projects. Impoverishment of public institutions and pauperization of the work of professors affected also the relationship between teachers and studens at the current institution. This is how the teacher becomes the greatest villain at the public management system. All of these references concerning differences in the quality of teaching at public and private schools, expressed by the students interviewed, however, were centered in the preparation for the entrance exam, called vestibular, thus showing a view that the relationship between the student and the school he came from is of a propedeutic kind and even so, reduced to a preparation for an entrance exam. In the second part of the work, which analyzed the relationship between newly arrived students and their university, it was noticed that the latter represents a whole new world. This world is seen as the change at the student?s social statute for now he is grown, takes more responsibilities and is socially respected. This change of attitude established by society and the discovery of a new world which requires more independence from the students, creates in them feelings of pride and fear and they feel insecure when it comes to making decision in the campus because now their decisions deliver a greater load of responsibility. This is when students understand they need to develop autonomy, which is seen, in this work, as the capacity to make conscious decisions. Nevertheless students expressed an understanding of autonomy as something that comes as a gift for those who enter university and not as a process that is constructed from social experiences. For these students, the need to be autonomous refers to the relationships with their teachers and the search for information. This search, however, is also related, according to interviews, to public school financial cuts, which penalize university, and to the lack of employers / O presente trabalho objetivou, seguindo os pressupostos metodol?gicos da An?lise Compreensiva do Discurso, compreender o momento de entrada na universidade a partir das falas de doze estudantes rec?m-ingressos no curso de Pedagogia da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. Objetivou, ainda, analisar a rela??o entre a escola de origem e a entrada na universidade e a rela??o entre a universidade e o novo aluno universit?rio. Na primeira parte do trabalho, a escuta compreensiva das falas dos alunos conduziu ? distin??o dos alunos entre a escola p?blica e a escola privada, distin??o esta baseada, principalmente, numa vis?o de superioridade da escola privada em rela??o ? escola p?blica. Tal interpreta??o insere-se na discuss?o da dualidade estrutural da educa??o brasileira, que, historicamente, oferece aparatos pedag?gicos diferentes entre os alunos de classes mais privilegiadas e os alunos oriundos de classes populares. A supera??o desta dualidade, aspirada pela Constitui??o Brasileira de 1988, esbarrou no advento de um novo modelo econ?mico o neoliberalismo, que aprofundou as diferen?as entre o p?blico e o privado, atrav?s da prioriza??o do mercado nas rela??es econ?micas, pol?ticas e sociais, incluindo, desta forma, os projetos educacionais. O sucateamento da escola p?blica e a precariza??o do trabalho docente afetaram tamb?m a rela??o entre professores e alunos nesta institui??o. Assim, o professor passa a ser considerado o grande vil?o do sistema p?blico. No entanto, todas estas refer?ncias ?s diferen?as da qualidade de ensino entre a escola p?blica e a escola privada feitas pelos estudantes entrevistados centraram-se no preparo para o vestibular, externando uma vis?o de que a rela??o do estudante com a escola de origem reduz-se a uma rela??o proped?utica e, ainda assim, reduzida ao preparo para o vestibular, e n?o para a entrada na universidade. Na segunda parte do trabalho, observou-se que, para os alunos, a universidade representa um mundo novo. Esse mundo oportuniza a mudan?a no estatuto social do estudante, visto que o aluno passa a ser tratado como adulto, ? mais cobrado e respeitado socialmente.Essa mudan?a de atitude por parte da sociedade e a descoberta de um mundo novo que exige mais independ?ncia dos alunos geram sentimentos de orgulho e medo nesses alunos, que se sentem inseguros nas tomadas de decis?o na universidade, visto que agora suas decis?es acarretam numa maior carga de responsabilidade. Sendo assim, os alunos compreendem que precisam desenvolver autonomia, entendida como uma capacidade de tomar decis?es conscientes. No entanto, os alunos expressaram uma compreens?o de autonomia enquanto dom natural de quem ingressa na universidade, e n?o enquanto processo que se desenvolve a partir de experi?ncias sociais. A necessidade de ser aut?nomo, para esses estudantes, refere-se ao relacionamento com os professores e ? busca de informa??es. The University consists of six faculties, namely the faculty of: Applied Sciences, Business Studies, Education, Engineering, Health and Wellness Sciences, and Informatics and Design. The high failure rate in the undergraduate nursing course in the faculty of Health and Wellness Science at CPUT, mooted this research due to the devastating impact student failure has on society as a whole. The academic selection criteria and its impact on throughput rates in particular as it pertains to undergraduate nurses enrolled for the 4 year B.Tech qualification, will become the subject of research scrutiny. Os concursos vestibulares das universidades estaduais paulistas e o ensino de Química no nível médio / The entrance exam of University São Paulo state and the teaching of chemistry at the secondary level

A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo estudar a influência do sistema de verificação final de aprendizado sobre as práticas de ensino de Química no nível médio. Para tanto, identificamos e caracterizamos o nível de compreensão do conhecimento químico solicitado dos alunos egressos do ensino médio Brasileiro para seleção dos futuros universitários. Focamos nossas investigações sobre as questões das provas de Química da segunda fase dos concursos vestibulares da Universidade de São Paulo e da Universidade de Campinas, assim como nas provas de conhecimento específico para as carreiras das áreas de Ciências Biológicas e Ciências Exatas da Universidade Estadual Paulista e os relatórios de desempenho correspondentes, entre os anos de 1998 e 2008. O percurso metodológico desenvolvido analisa as questões em três eixos: (1) tema do ensino de química, que se utiliza da Proposta Curricular para o ensino de Química do estado de São Paulo de 1998; (2) processo cognitivo, que tem como referencia a Taxonomia de Bloom e (3) o desempenho médio dos candidatos nas questões das provas de Química. A triangulação dos dados evidenciou o caráter normativo, orientador e controlador destes exames sobre o sistema de ensino que os antecede. / This work aimed to study the influence of the system of final verification of learning on Chemistry teaching practices in high school. For that, we identified and characterized the level of chemical knowledge comprehension required from Brazilian students egress from high school for the selection of future undergraduates. We focused our investigations on the Chemistry questions of the second phase of the entrance tests from the University of São Paulo and the University of Campinas, as well as on the specific knowledge tests for careers in the field of Biological Sciences and Exact Sciences from the University of São Paulo State and the performance reports between the years of 1998 and 2008. Our methodological route follows the questions in three axes: (1) Chemistry teaching theme, which uses the Curriculum Proposition for the Chemistry teaching from the state of São Paulo from 1998; (2) cognitive process, whose reference is Bloom\'s Taxonomy and (3) average performance of the candidates in the questions in the Chemistry tests. The triangulation of data made clear the normative, guiding and controlling character of these exams on the teaching system that precedes them.

Influência da velocidade de entrada na zona de contato na eficiência de clarificação de unidades retangulares de flotação por ar dissolvido aplicado no tratamento de águas para abastecimento / Influence of the velocity in the contact zone entrance on the clarification efficiency of rectangular dissolved air flotation units applied to water treatment to supply

A flotação por ar dissolvido (FAD) é reconhecida atualmente como técnica eficiente para a etapa de clarificação em sistemas de tratamento de água para abastecimento. Diversos estudos vêm sendo realizados para aprimoramento dessa técnica e das características físicas das unidades FAD. Seguindo essa tendência, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo estudar os efeitos da velocidade na entrada da zona de contato (\'V IND.EZC\') na eficiência de clarificação de unidades retangulares FAD. Para o presente estudo foi utilizada água sintética preparada através da adição de 1,0 mg/L de ácido húmico e 8,5 mg/L de caulinita, a qual foi coagulada com sulfato de alumínio. A pesquisa foi dividida em duas fases: FASE I - com o emprego do Flotateste foram determinadas as dosagens adequadas de coagulante, o pH adequado de coagulação com a medição do potencial zeta das partículas (PZ), o gradiente médio de velocidade para floculação e o tempo médio para floculação para o tratamento da água sintética em estudo; FASE II - utilizando unidade FAD em escala piloto foram realizados ensaios para diferentes variações na altura da entrada da zona de contato (he) da câmara de flotação de forma a se obter diferentes valores de \'V IND.EZC\'. Nesta fase foram investigadas duas diferentes condições de coagulação as quais forneceram bons resultados por flotação: 1ª condição, aplicação de 42,5 mg/L de \'AL IND.2\'(\'SO IND.4\')IND.3\' e pH de 6,35 \'+ OU -\' 0,05 na qual resultou em PZ positivo em torno de +10 mV e para 2ª condição, aplicação de 22,5 mg/L de \'AL IND.2\'(\'SO IND.4\')IND.3\' e pH de 6,40 \'+ OU -\' 0,05 na qual resultou em PZ próximo de 0 mV. Os ensaios foram monitorados e comparados entre si os valores residuais de turbidez e cor aparente. Em todos os ensaios as taxas de aplicação superficial foram mantidas em faixas estreitas de verificando-se que os melhores resultados residuais dos parâmetros monitorados foram obtidos para a 1ª condição de estudo com valores de 0,66 NTU de turbidez e cor aparente igual a 2 uC (eficiências de 90,5 e 93,9% respectivamente). Os resultados demonstraram que para a faixa de valores de \'V IND.EZC\' entre 62,2 e 12.432,4 m/h pouca influência desse parâmetro foi observada na eficiência do processo de clarificação por flotação para ambas as condições de coagulação investigadas. Entretanto, a faixa de valores de \'V IND.EZC\' entre 124,3 e 180,2 m/h forneceram as melhores condições de flotação. Portanto, sugere-se tal faixa de valores como subsídio ao projeto de sistemas de flotação constituído pelas características apresentadas nesta pesquisa. / Dissolved air flotation (DAF) is currently recognized as an efficient technique for water clarification in water treatment systems. Several studies have been conducted to improve this technique and the physical characteristics of DAF units in order to constantly improve their performance. Following this trend, the aim of this research was to evaluate the effects of the velocity in the contact zone entrance on the clarification efficiency of rectangular DAF units. A DAF pilot plant fed with synthetic water prepared by adding 1.0 mg/L of humic acid and 8.5 mg/L of kaolin, and coagulated with aluminum sulfate was used. The research was divided into two phases: I) by using a laboratory scale DAF unit (Flotatest) the optimal coagulation, flocculation, and flotation conditions for the synthetic water previously described were investigated; and II) by using a DAF pilot unit tests were performed for different variations in the height of the contact zone entrance (he) of the flotation chamber to obtain different values of velocity in the contact zone entrance. In this phase two different conditions of coagulation were investigated yielding good results: 1st condition: application of 42.5 mg/L of \'AL IND.2\'(\'SO IND.4\')IND.3\' and pH 6.35 \'+ OR -\' 0.05, which resulted in zeta potential of positive particles around +10 mV, and 2nd condition: application of 22.5 mg/L \'AL IND.2\'(\'SO IND.4\')IND.3\' and pH 6.40 \'+ OR -\' 0.05, which resulted in zeta potential of particles near zero. The tests were monitored and the residual values of turbidity and apparent color were compared. In all experiments, the hydraulic surface loadings were kept in narrow bands of values (in the contact zone equal to 180 \'+ OR -\' 4 m/h and in the clarification zone, equal to 184 \'+ OR -\' 4 m/d). It was verified that the best residual results of the parameters monitored were obtained for the 1st condition with 0.66 NTU turbidity and apparent color equal to 2 uC (efficiencies of 90.5 and 93.9%, respectively). The results showed that for the range of values of velocity in the contact zone entrance between 62.2 and 12432.4 m/h little influence of this parameter was observed on the clarification efficiency process by flotation for both coagulation conditions investigated. However, as the range of values between 124.3 and 180.2 m/h provided the best flotation conditions, such a range should be adopted for the designs of rectangular DAF units.

Para tanto, faço uso de metodologia qualitativa, de cunho etnográfico em que os registros foram gerados em navegações na Internet e abarcam o período de janeiro a dezembro de 2010, compondo um total de 499 enunciados selecionados. Com base nas concepções enunciativas sócio-históricas, de dialogismo e sobre os gêneros discursivos de Bakhtin, assumo que todo enunciado é elo de uma cadeia complexa formada por outros enunciados com os quais dialoga em uma atitude responsiva. Logo, não adoto posição taxativa que considere on-line e off-line como "mundos" separados e incomunicáveis. Pelo contrário, acredito em sua interconexão e continuidade, sendo essencial conjugar, portanto, alguns pressupostos ligados ao(s) letramento(s) e aos gêneros digitais, visto que o corpus foi formado por meio da web. Na busca por compreender os processos de produção escrita que se davam nos fóruns examinados, percebi que a publicação, correção e composição de textos no ambiente Orkut eram feitas como forma de treinamento para exames vestibulares, bem como concursos e tarefas escolares em sua maioria. Dessa forma, constatei que os gêneros produzidos em supremacia pelos internautas eram os mesmos praticados no Ensino Médio e que os principais critérios com que os textos eram analisados também eram similares aos empregados por professores, destacando-se a reescrita como estratégia fundamental. Por um lado, a retomada de práticas do letramento escolar no meio digital pôde evidenciar tanto o embricamento entre on-line e off-line, quanto lacunas no currículo escolar e a necessidade de repensar suas práticas mediante os multiletramentos colocados em foco, sobretudo, pelas novas tecnologias digitais. Por outro lado, pude identificar como as práticas de escrita na rede são favoráveis ao ensino-aprendizagem da escrita em função do maior número de pares que os orkuteiros têm, bem como devido ao fato de que, ao escreverem no computador, podem visualizar suas atividades, elaborando reflexões e percepções mais claras sobre o processo de escrever em uma meta-análise de suas produções escritas. Além disso, verifiquei como ideias sobre atividades de escrita carregadas pelos orkuteiros entrelaçavam-se a concepções de sujeitos que circulam ou já circularam na sociedade, revelando o dialogismo como (rica) propriedade da linguagem / Abstract: This research aims at examining published statements in on-line forums in four on-line Orkut's communities in which topics permeate the writing or rewriting of texts, in order to observe the peculiarities of literacy practices that circulate in the digital, as well as analyzing their connections with off-line and schools. It is a kind of qualitative research situated in the field of Applied Linguistics studies and ethnography. The registers were generated from a corpus formed by access of the Internet during the year of 2010. According to socio-historic Bakhtin's notion of dialogism and discursive genre, I believe that all statements are links in a complex discursive chain formed to other statements with which they dialog in a responsive way. This research doesn't take on-line and off-line like separated worlds, otherwise I believe that there is interconnection and continuity between them. This work is also based on studies on the literacy and digital literacy considering that the corpus was constructed in the web. In the study I realize that the textual production on Orkut was a kind of train for student's tests in examinations in general. The analysis of the orkuteiro's texts pointed out that the majority produced genres were the same that ones produced in High School as well as the way to make the corrections was similar to the teacher's action, in this way rewriting the text is the principal strategy. On this side, resume scholar practices on digital media shows the relation between on-line and off-line, as well as gaps in the scholar curriculum. It's time of thinking about scholar practices in relation with the multiliteracies on focus, especially, for the new digital technologies. On the other hand, I could identify how practices of writing on the network are good for the teachinglearning of writing in the light of the highest number of peer the people who use Orkut have. When they write in a computer they can display their activities drawing up reflections and perceptions about the writining process in a meta-analysis of their writing productions. EDF is also the first electricity producer and supplier in France. However, Europe, EDF’s core market, is currently underperforming: the European sovereign debt crisis is lowering significantly the growth perspective of an energy market that has already reached its maturity. As a consequence, European energy companies are now looking at international markets and especially BRIC economies where economic growth potential remains high. Among them, Brazil is expected to keep its strong economic and electricity demand growth perspectives for the coming decades. Though Brazil has not been considered as a strategic priority for EDF after the Light reversal in 2006, the current economic situation has led the Group to reconsider its position toward the country. EDF’s current presence in Brazil is limited to its stake in UTE Norte Fluminense, a thermal plant, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro. This report investigates the possibility and the feasibility of EDF’s activities expansion in Brazil and what added value it could bring for the Brazilian power market. Considering that the status quo would not allow EDF to take full advantage of Brazil’s future growth, this work is identifying the various options that are currently opened to EDF: market exit, status quo, EDF alone, local partner. For that purpose, this study collects and analyses the latest energy market data as well as generation companies’ information which are necessary to give a relevant overview of the current brazilian power sector and to present EDF strategic options for the country.

Välkommen till Avesta Lasarett! : En studie om orienterbarhet i en sjukhusentré

Denna studie handlar om hur man med färg och rumslig formgivning kan öka orienterbarheten i en sjukhusmiljö, med fokus på huvudentrén. Studien är ett examensarbete i Informationsdesign, med inriktningen rumslig gestaltning. Platsen för studien har varit huvudentrén på Avesta lasarett. Huvudentréhallen på Avesta lasarett upplevs idag som trång och uppfyller inte de behov som finns. Syftet med studien har varit att med hjälp av tidigare forskning och teorier, samt empiriska studier, hitta ett sätt att öka orienterbarheten i en sjukhusmiljö. Detta med hjälp av en rumslig formgivning och ett skyltsystem som stödjer entréns funktioner och aktiviteter. Vilket ska bidra till att underlätta för besökare att hitta rätt i en ansträngande och stressig situation som ett sjukhusbesök kan innebära. Teorierna som studien grundar sig i behandlar wayfinding och wayshowing, kognition, det fysiska rummet, teorier om hälsa och välmående, samt teorier om färg och färgkodning. Metoderna som använts för den empiriska datainsamlingen är platsanalys, observationer och kvalitativa intervjuer. Arbetet har resulterat i ett färgkodningssystem som tillämpats i det befintliga skyltsystemet samt i rumsutformningen. Detta för att skapa en visuellt strukturerad huvudentré där vägledande skyltar samspelar med rummet och dess användningsområden. / This study is about how colour and spatial design can increase the orientation in a hospital environment, focusing on its main entrance. The study is a degree project in Information Design, with a focus on spatial design.  The location of the study has been the main entrance to Avesta hospital. The main entrance hall of Avesta hospital is today perceived as cramped and does not meet the needs. The aim of the study has been to find ways to increase the orientability of a hospital environment with the help of previous research and theories, as well as empirical studies. This is done using a spatial design and a sign system that supports the entrance functions and activities. Which, in turn, will help to make it easier for visitors to find the right way in an exhausting and stressful situation that a hospital visit may involve.  The theories which the study is based on deals with wayfinding and wayshowing, cognition, physical space, theories of health and well-being, as well as theories of color and color coding. The methods used for the empirical data collection are site analysis, observations and qualitative interviews.  The work has resulted in a color coding system which is being applied in the existing sign system as well as in the room layout. This is to create a visually structured main entrance where indicative signs interact with the design of the room and its uses.
