Implementering av metoder i familjehemsvården : Fallexempel BRA-fam / Implementation of methods in foster caring : Case example BRA-fam

Uddeback, Klockar-Sara, Wallin, Susanne January 2016 (has links)
The following essay purpose was to examine how a standardized assessment method for recruitment of foster homes (BRA-fam) implemented on a selection of the municipalities that participated in the National Board of Health and Welfare´s pilot study (appendix 1). The connection between participation and satisfaction with the implementation and the relationship between research, professionals and foster care system were also examined. Empirical data was gathered through quantity telephone interviews based on structured questionnaires. 46 municipalities who participated in the pilot study were contacted, of which 30 foster investigators answered the questions (appendix 2). The answers are then interpreted and reported in the form of tables and in the text. The results were analyzed and related to theories shows that investigation with BRA-fam method was perceived to have high validity and reliability. However, there were weaknesses concerning participation in both the methodology and implementation of this but might be consequences due to few participants. In summary, it emerged the need to evaluate the recruitment methods in practices within the foster home system and BRA-fam because the implementation and use of the method may differ. The municipalities have not implemented BRA-fam in its entirely based on the National Board of Health and Welfare recommendations. The use of the method differs between both municipalities and private operators. Suggestions for improvement and developmental areas regarding implementation of methods are presented in Discussion and conclusions.Further suggestions are given for approaching an evidence based, equitable and consistent recruitment method in foster care in Sweden. To support, strengthen and promote the relationship between research, professionals and social service users in the future and to meet the changes and challenges that a society is exposed to and responsible.

Even if it won’t belike any other family” : A qualitative study on the views of foster families

Hultin, Hanna January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study was to gain a better understanding of possible foster families’ views on fostering a child and what they consider to be important factors for deciding whether or not to become a foster family. The studys result is based on five semi-structured interviews with persons whom have an interest for becoming foster families and the findings were analyzed by using a norm theory. The way that the interviewed people described their views on fostering a child could in the analysis be seen as a result of different norms and they often described the ideal foster family based on either their own family or the nuclear family.

Svensson, Lars January 2016 (has links)

The Assessment of "suitable" foster care homes in Sweden and Australia. : A comparative study.

Andersson, Sandra January 2016 (has links)
This study is about the assessment of foster care families and what´s considered a suitable foster care home. It is a comparative study between two welfare countries, Sweden and Australia. The study aims to increase the understanding of social workers assessment on foster care families and examines what a suitable foster care home looks like for a few social workers in each country. The study was carried out through five qualitative interviews, three of them in Sweden and two of them in Australia. With a social constructivist theory the result was carried out and analysed. The result of the study shows differences in the way social workers in each country talk about the suitability of a foster carer. In Australia the social workers that participated in the study spoke about a suitable foster family as a family that is safe and can provide a safe environment. In Sweden the social workers spoke about a suitable family as a secure and stable family. The result of the study also shows similarities between the two countries, as an example the nuclear family is still the norm and other family structures are exceptions of the norm.

En bortprioriterad grupp : En kvalitativ studie kring de biologiska barnens betydelse i familjehem utifrån familjehemssekreterarnas arbete.

Kristiansson, Louise, Linder, Mikaela January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to illustrate how family home secretaries are discussing the conditions and importance of the biological children in foster families. Through this we want to gain an understanding of the subject and contribute with knowledge that can generate further research. Previous research shows that biological children are under prioritized in foster care. We were curious about what foster care secretary’s actually do for this group of individuals in their work. To get this information we interviewed six social workers who works with foster care. Our six informants were located in different municipalities in southern Sweden. The theoretical perspective we used were the norm of the core family, from private to public and the last theory we used were risk- and protection factors. The qualitative method for the study was semi- structured interviews that we transcribed and coded for our results. The results shows that the biological children gets often overridden due to the lack of resources and that the different municipalities argue differently about the need to support the biological children. The biological children in fosterfamilies has an important roll and meaning for the fosterchildren’s wellbeeing. Another result show that familychanges affects the biological children but the social workers dont’t reflect about that.

Solsken och regnskurar : En kvalitativ studie om upplevelsen av att vara familjehemsförälder / Sunshine and showers of rain : A qualitative study about the experience being foster parent

Ahlbäck, Anna, Hogmalm, Anneli January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to figure out how foster parents view their task and the responsibilities that the task entails, what gives foster parents motivation to continue with the mission, as well as what kind of emotional attachment the foster parents experience they get to the placed children. This study consists of six interviews, of which five of them were individual and one pair interview. The gathered material was analyzed from content analysis. Three themes emerged in the results which were: The mission as a foster family, why foster family and the everyday of foster families. The results were then analyzed through previous research along with Antonovskys concept sense of coherence, SOC and Bowlbys attachment theory. The results showed that foster families have different views depending on how long they have been foster families, what kind of children they’ve had but above all, what motivated them to start a foster family.

Skolgång i samhällets vård : En intervjustudie om unga vuxnas erfarenheter av sin skolgång under placeringstiden / Schooling in out-of-home care : an interview-study of young adults’ experience with schooling while in placement

Al-idani, Dua, Habib, Daniella January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this study was to understand how young adults whom previously had been in out-of-home care retrospectively described their schooling. Five young adults between the ages of 21-26 were interviewed in a qualitative study. The theory KASAM helped identify the resources and factors that influenced the informants’ sense of coherence. The results showed that the informants were put in out-of-home care at different ages and had different experiences with their studies while in care. They received help from adults in regards to their studies, which had a positive impact on their schooling. Some informants had negative experiences from their schooling while in care caused by bullying, mental health issues and having to move multiple times. Because of our small sample we could not generalize the results. What the informants had in common was the fact that they had college-level education or were planning to receive it.

Peltz, Angelica January 2011 (has links)

Arbete kring barn vid familjehemsplacering : Socialsekreterares förhållningssätt gällande arbete kring barns utveckling vid familjehemsplacering / Relationships during foster care : Social service work with a child’s identity formation and development during foster care

Boström, Isak, Koivisto, Alexander January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this study was to examine how the social service workers reflect on their work in cases when a child is placed in foster care. Both with people who works with the child before the decision and the placement is made and the people who works with it after after the placement. The study examined how social workers worked with the aspects of relationships and contact, both between social worker and the biological parent but also between the child and the child's biological parents. This study provides a understanding of how social workers reflect on concepts such as attachment and relationships during the process of foster care, both before and after the placement is done. The investigation has a qualitative approach and contains eight semi-structured interviews with social workers who are a part of the process either before or after the placement is done. Four interviews have been conducted with social workers that are involved before the placement and four interviews have been conducted with social workers who are involved after the placement. In the thematic data analysis of the empirical interview material was coded. At first, an initial coding was done. After that a selective coding was carried out where the codes that were recurrent and significant for the study was made into the themes that made the results of the study.   The results of the study show that the process of placing a child in foster care is complex. Attachment, relationships and the juridical process was aspects of this process that the participants considered important. A child's attachment was something they considered important because it was of great importance for a child's development. The relationships were something that the participants considered to be a challenge to work with. The clients need to get a new social worker after the placement which complicates the work regarding relationships. There is also a conflict of interest and a difficulty to cooperate between the parties. The juridical process is an aspect were the participants considered needed improvement. The participants considered them to have to minimal of an influence on the process. They considered that they needed more influence because the people who works in the legal system do not have the same amount of knowledge considering a child’s development that the participant have.

Skantz, Karin, Engström, Björn January 2009 (has links)
<p>The purpose of this study is to highlight the situation for youths leaving foster care and entering adult life. The study examines the services provided by the social service in the Stockholm area when a youth is leaving foster care, and if a recent change in the legislation has had any impact on the operating procedures of the social service. The study includes interviews with youths who recently left foster care, as well as information collected from social service offices through a survey, supplemented by interviews with practicing social workers. All the assembled data have been analyzed using Ecological Systems theory with focus on the child perspective and the term significant others. The study shows that the respondent youth have trouble identifying the formal ending with social services, as well as the support they received or were offered. As assembled from the survey, the few supporting services that are being arranged in connection with leaving care are similar between different social service offices. The general opinion is that they offer the required extra support that the new legislation aims to strengthen. The majority of the social service offices has therefore not changed their existing leaving care procedures. In this process, a lot of responsibility tends to be delegated to the foster homes, and due to insufficient resources social workers feel inadequate in those cases were the youth’s need for help is not met by the former foster home.</p>
