A subcidadania e o Direito: da sociologia da inautenticidade à modernização seletiva / Law and undercivilship: from sociology of unauthenticity to selective modernization

Carlos David Carneiro Bichara 04 March 2013 (has links)
This dissertation aims to discuss the existence of a Brazilian undercitizenship and its impact on the field of law. With this intent, we decided to work with the sociologist Jessé Souza thesis that Brazil would have lived a selective modernization, that imported modern practices without a corresponding homogenization of social classes, would have relegated at least on third of the population to undercitizenship. After performing a critical analysis of this thesis, including confronting it with what would be, even for Jessé Souza, the traditional canon of interpretation of Brazil, formed by the works of Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, Raymundo Faoro and Roberto DaMatta, we reflect on the effects of selective modernization thesis to the field of law. Under the key of citizenship, understood as an equal dignity, is the very foundation of rights, we concluded that the existence of a undercitizenship in Brazil should be taken into account by the law field, both to problematize the distance between the positive law and its realization as to promote an entitlement to struggles for recognition and citizenship.

Den muslimskt feministiska utmaningen : En analys av kvinnors framställning i koranen ur ett muslimskt feministiskt perspektiv / The Islamic Feminist Challenge : Women´s depiction in the Quran from an Islamic feminist perspective

Ali, Shadan January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the depiction of women in Quran from an Islamic feminist perspective. The questions that my study is based on are: How is the woman accounted in the Quran according to Islamic feminists? How do Muslim feminists argue and what do they base their reasoning on? My study is based on analyzes of the feminists’ works and statements. The results were analyzed with the help of different theories including Miriam Cookes “multiple critique”, Jan Hjärpes “The Islamic basket”, Jonathan Potters “methodological relativism” and Luckman & Bergers “social construction of reality”. The main result of this study is that it highlights how different Islamic feminists interpret the Quran in relation to the present and how their interpretations have created debates internationally. I also discuss the importance of new interpretations and the globalization for Muslim women.

An Investigation of the Possible Mechanisms of Change in Supportive-expressive Therapy for Depressed/Anxious Adolsecents

Ceurstemont, Kim 26 March 2012 (has links)
The present research explores a promising therapy – Supportive Expressive Therapy (SET; Luborsky, 1984) – for adolescents with mood and/or anxiety disorders. It has been proposed that therapist expressive techniques (e.g., challenges and interpretations) and client interpersonal mastery (i.e., self-understanding and self-control in relationships) are two elements central to the success of SET (Luborsky, 1984; Grenyer & Luborsky, 1996). The current thesis employs a microprocess approach to examine expressive techniques and interpersonal mastery as potential mechanisms of change in SET. The study first provides preliminary evidence that SET is effective in helping adolescents suffering from internalizing disorders. Clients (N = 10) reported significantly fewer symptoms of depression and anxiety post-therapy. The body of the study then focuses on two research questions pertaining to the microprocesses occurring during SET. First, employing graphical and statistical analyses, the study investigates the notion that SET helps clients develop greater interpersonal mastery. Ten clients’ levels of interpersonal mastery were assessed at four points throughout therapy to determine whether clients demonstrated higher levels of interpersonal mastery over time. Secondly, this dissertation explores the impact of therapist expressive statements on clients' narratives, using a lag sequential analysis. Clients' statements were examined to determine whether higher levels of interpersonal mastery were exhibited following higher-level expressive techniques versus other therapist statements (i.e., supportive statements). Statistical analyses pertaining to the first research question did not reveal significant changes in interpersonal mastery over the course of therapy. However, graphical analyses suggested specific patterns of gains in interpersonal mastery during SET. With respect to the second research question, results demonstrated therapists employed significantly more higher-level expressive techniques in the later stages of SET, in accordance with the guidelines provided in SET manuals. Lag sequential analyses did not, however, provide substantial evidence of gains in interpersonal mastery following higher-level therapist techniques. Despite a lack of evidence supporting a general link between higher-level techniques and increased client mastery, exploratory analyses suggested change-focused expressive statements were linked to fewer client statements reflecting low interpersonal mastery. Future research should examine (1) change-focused statements as potentially important variables fostering improvement, and (2) moderators of client responses to higher-level techniques.

Christ's hospitality : a re-examination from an African theological perspective.

Gathogo, Julius Mutugi. January 2003 (has links)
This dissertation re-examines Christ's hospitality from the perspective of inculturation/contextualisation, which is a common trend in African Theology today. It starts on the premise that Christ is the ideal model of hospitality that African Christianity ought to draw some lessons from as we embark on a theology of reconstruction. In so doing, it has sought to trace the concept of hospitality from the ancient times to the present times thereby relating it with the contemporary issues. The work is divided into six chapters and a conclusion that serves as a seventh chapter. The Introduction chapter sets the argument, describing the background to and motivation of the research, the review of relevant literature, the research problem, the theoretical framework and the research methodology. Chapter two defines the concept of hospitality tracing its linguistic roots, its ancient interpretations and practices; the Old and New Testament version of hospitality and concludes the chapter by assessing the characteristics of hospitable places with regard to Christ's hospitality. Chapter Three which is a continuation of chapter two continues with the survey of hospitality from Christian monasticism to post-reformation period where Rev. John Wesley emerges as a great beacon of hospitality after the Industrial revolution that took place in Europe. Chapter four revisits the concept of hospitality in Africa from the ancient times to the present times. It cites the general features of African hospitality and examines its uniqueness by comparing it with the Western hospitality. It also looks at the abuse of African hospitality through the ages citing some cases such as slavery, colonialism and neo-colonialism. The chapter is premised on the conviction that African hospitality is compatible with Christ's hospitality hence the need to harness it through inculturation. Chapter five examines the faces of Christ in African Christian hospitality. It is based on the premise that Christ is in each and every one of us when we extend love to one another; for he is in the faces of the suffering and all the afflicted peoples of Africa and beyond. In this chapter, Christ is examined as one who cares and is therefore concerned, thereby challenging us to seek Christ in our day today lives. He is thus examined as a liberator, a reconstructor, a healer, a guest, a host, and a unique ancestor. Chapter six is the climax of our study, which specifically examines Christ as a model worth imitating as we grapple with the concerns of the twenty first century. Christ is portrayed as a model in terms of liberation, reconstruction, family level, cultural level, and rural ministry. As an area that has not been exhaustively done in African Theology, the chapter, in some sections, allows the various contributors to give their interpretations on Christ thereby coming very close to chapter five where we were looking at the faces of Christ. A good example is Christ as the model of liberation where the contribution of African Women Theologians (otherwise called the Circle of Concerned African Women Theologians) is given prominence as a case in point where women in Africa, have to look at Christ as the model of liberation from patriarchal structures and as one who supersedes all genders. The chapter concludes by a passionate appeal that even if Africa may be walking through the valley of the shadow of death, we need not fear for Christ the ideal model in every sphere of life is with us. He will make us lie down in greener pastures, restore our souls, guide us in the paths of righteousness and lead us beside quite waters (Psalm 23). We must therefore seek to learn from him hence the caution, "my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). The chapter therefore acts as a conclusion of the study in spite of the fact that we have chapter seven that concludes the whole study. Chapter seven concludes the study by an appeal to Africa of the twenty first century to swim into action and face the challenges such as sexism, tribalism, regionalism, HIV/Aids and corruption, with confidence knowing that the hospitable Christ is with us and will be there to guide us in our undertakings till the end of the age (Matthew 28: 1820). / Thesis (M.Th.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, 2003.

Représentations, agir et justifications du développement durable chez les dirigeants de PME : le cas des dirigeants de riads maisons d'hôtes à Marrakech / Representations, to act and justifications of sustainable development among the SME managers : the case of the Riads guest houses managers in Marrakech

Essabri, Noureddine 19 December 2017 (has links)
The objective of the research is the interpretation of the action of SME managers in the face of sustainable development. Then, interpretation is considered by this research as a dialectical process between explanation and comprehension. To explain the action, we chose the theory of social representations and to understand it, we opted for the theory of the economy of quantities. The research problematic seeks to analyze the links between representation, action and the justification of sustainable development among the riads' leaders in Marrakech. The results obtained show the existence of an ecological city and confirms the difficulties of sustainable development to present itself as an order of justification of the action.

We propose an empirical assessment of this phenomenon. By using a measure of attention based on Google Trends, we show that an increase in the attention allocated by the market to a company is associated to a significant increase in disagreement about it.

Hur begreppet ”enkla kemiska processer” tolkas i förskolan : En intervjustudie med förskollärare och barnskötare / How the concept of ”simple chemical processes” is interpreted in preschool : An interview study with preschool teachers and childminders

Olsson, Carolina, Strandberg, Emelie January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to contribute knowledge about the meaning of the curriculum concept ”simple chemical processes” in preschool science teaching. The data was collected through qualitative semistructured interviews with preschool staff, consisting of six preschool teachers and four childminders. The study showed that the preschool staff mainly emphasized the importance of teaching chemical processes as preparation for the children's future schooling and encouragement of a positive attitude towards the subject chemistry. The preschool staff linked the concept of ”simple chemical processes” with teaching activities involving water, baking powder, baking and paint. They also linked the concept to changes in the natural world. The results also showed that chemistry teaching took place in both a planned and spontaneous way, and that the preschool staff believed that chemistry teaching should be based on the children's interest and curiosity. They believed that it should be undertaken in a fun way together with other involved educators present. One conclusion of the study is that the preschool staff varied in their interpretation of "simple chemical processes" and how they were taught in preschool. Chemistry teaching was not given high priority, according to the preschool staff, one of the reasons being that the subject was considered difficult.
