Denna fallstudie som är baserad på Malmöfestivalen år 2017, har haft för avsikt att undersöka på vilket sätt Malmöfestivalens interna ambitioner vad gäller extern kommunikation, tar sig uttryck på Instagram. Med hjälp av ett teoretiskt ramverk bestående av teorier kring public relations, social marknadsföring, offentlighet, virtuella gemenskaper samt the medium is the message har vi genom kvalitativa djupintervjuer och innehållsanalyser fördjupat oss i en kommunikationskedja. Denna startar i tre av Malmö stads kommunikationsdokument, löper genom intervjuer med medarbetare och slutar i publicerat material på Malmöfestivalens Instagramkonto. Detta har givit oss djupare förståelse för Malmöfestivalens externa och digitala kommunikation. Våra resultat pekar på vilka olika vis Malmöfestivalen som organisation medvetet utför strategiska kommunikationsinsatser för att bjuda in publiken till festivalen. / This case study about Malmöfestivalen the year of 2017, is intended to examine how Malmöfestivalens internal ambitions, regarding their external communication are expressed on Instagram. Using a theoretical framework consisting of theories about public relations, social marketing, public sphere, virtual communities and the medium is the message, we have been able to examine the communication chain by using qualitative interviews and content analysis. This chain starts with three communication documents from Malmö stad, runs through interviews with coworkers and ends with the published material on Malmöfestivalen’s Instagram account. This has given us a deeper understanding of Malmöfestivalen’s external and digital communication. The result of our analysis points to the various ways that Malmöfestivalen as an organization, consciously perform strategic communication efforts to invite the audience to the festival.

In 2020 a global pandemic began that affected libraries around the world. Due to government restrictions public libraries in Sweden were greatly limited in their operations. Within the public libraries' program activities, the amount of activities was halved. The library's response to continue to achieve the goals connected to the program activities was to undergo a shift from physical to digital.  The purpose of this study was to analyse the shift and its impact on the program activities, on the libraries' goals, and whether library staff believe that the shift has long-term consequences for the library. In the survey, representatives from the largest public libraries in eight provinces in Sweden participated in semi-structured interviews to share their experiences during the pandemic period and also their thoughts on the future.  The results showed a complete shift from physical to digital programs during the period. They had to change their way of working, acquire new equipment and skills to offer new programs and services to users digitally. But the shift brought problems: for example, when materials were to be published online, with digital participation, and because the program's goals became more difficult to achieve. Some benefits were also highlighted, including that digital activities attracted new users and an opportunity to participate regardless of distance to the library.  The conclusions that can be drawn from the survey is that the program activities will in part return to their original form before the pandemic. The respondents believed that some hybridization will take place, that selected physical programs will also be shown digitally, but that the digital development and the digital working methods will generally be limited to enable the library as a physical meeting place and the return of visitors.

Purpose – The purpose of this master thesis is to generate new knowledge and understanding how the concept of public sphere has been used and understood in library and information research of public libraries.  Design/methodology/approach –Through a systematic literatur review of  research literature of public libraries and public sphere, interpretations of the public sphere concept are mapped. Qualitative content analysis is applied for the analysis. The research questions are: 1. How is the concept of public sphere interpretated in library and information science (LIS) research about the democratic role of the public library and its role beeing a meeting place and an arena for public debate?  2. What significance can the interpretation of the concept public sphere be assumed to have for the understanding of how LIS researchers view and use the concept?  Findings – Six themes are identified: 1. Habermas original theory of public sphere from 1962. 2. A theoretical framework of public sphere, based on Habermas theory. 3. Other concepts and theories that can be applied on public libraries and public sphere. 4. A diversity of public spheres. 5. The democratic role of the public libraries and public sphere. 6. Conversation, communication, debate and public sphere.

Projektet Motorcenter Nynäshamn är tänkt att bidra med en variation av funktioner till Nynäshamns tätort, Nynäshamns kommun samt till södra Stockholms län som helhet. Centret är en Multifunktionell byggnad med ett varierat program med kombinerat fordon och människor i fokus. En stor del av byggnaden är en workshop där folk kan mecka med sitt eget fordon. Kombinerat med detta är ytor för utställning, föreläsning, möte, lärande med mera. Det större utrymmet för föreläsning kan också användas för andra typer av möten och utställningar. Byggnaden innehar Resturang, café, kontor att hyra samt andra typer av möteslokaler. En stor terass på över våningen överblickar den tillhörande mindre racingbanan som är till för träning och rekreation. Ett ställe för att exempelvis kunna testa sitt fordon man precis har arbetat på.Strukturen är genomgripande betong med de karaktäristiska valven av varierande storlek. Dessa valv som blir byggnadens uttryck både utifrån och inifrån har tre primära syften: att slussa igenom fordon genom byggnadens olika ytor på bottenplan, släppa in ljus samt ge det speciella uttrycket byggnaden har på sin plats i skogen, synlig från vägen. / The project Motorcenter Nynäshamn is planned to contribute with several functions to Nynäshamn, its commune and to the southern part of Stockholm region. It’s a multi purpose building with a diverse architectural program with vehicles and people as the center of attention. A significant part of this building is the workshop where people can come to work on their own vehicle. In combination with that, the Motorcenter has spaces for exhibitions, education, lectures meetings and more. The larger area for lectures can also be used for other types of meetings an exhibitions. Furthermore the building accommodates a Restaurant, café, office spaces for renting and other kinds of gathering areas. On the upper floor, there is a large terass overlooking the racetrack which in combination with the building provides a possibility to test your vehicle out after you’ve been working on it in the workshop.The structure is largely in concrete with the characterising vaults of different sizes. These vaults become the expression of the building both from the inside and the outside. The vaults has three primary purposes: bring in light, allow vehicle movements through out the building and provide the buildings specific appearance, in its place in the woods close to the road.

Syftet med studien är att öka förståelsen för fenomenet mötesplats, dels ur arrangörsperspektiv och dels ur brukarperspektiv. Studien fokuserar på hur mötesplatsen diskuteras som en del av fritiden och på vilket sätt personal och besökares uppfattningar kring mötesplatsen kan förstås och diskuteras utifrån meningsskapande. Kvalitativa intervjuer med personal och besökare utgör det empiriska materialet i studien. Mötesplatsen diskuteras främst genom spontana möjligheter och organiserade aktiviteter där de organiserade aktiviteterna i den här studien visar tendens på att vara det som motiverar besökare till att ta del av det som mötesplatsen erbjuder. Dialog och motivation lyfts fram i studien som viktiga i meningsskapande för en mötesplats. / The meeting place for all is the concept for Mötesplats Ljungdala, which is a meeting place that is open to all regardless of background. The meeting place is discussed mainly by spontaneous opportunities and organized activities in which the organized activities in this study shows tend to be it that motivates visitors to take part of what the meeting place offers. The aim of this project was to develop a public hybrid building in the countryside of Eskilstuna and create an active meeting place that is open to the public. Kvicksund is a town in the northern part of Esklistuna and is the chosen area for this project. Kvicksund Sports and Cultural Center is a multi-facility for both sports and culture. There is already a large sports ground with several football fields and a large golf course in that area. These outdoor activities are complemented by the new indoor activities and create a non-commercial meeting place combined with leisure facitilies, exhibition opportunities, a restaurant and a café. This type of a grand meeting place can contribute to improved social sustainability in Kvicksund. / Målet med detta projekt var att utveckla en offentlig hybridbyggnad i Eskilstunas landsbygd och skapa en aktiv mötesplats som är öppen för allmänheten. Kvicksund är en ort i den norra delen av Esklistuna kommun och är det valda området för detta projekt. Kvicksund Idrotts– och Kulturhus är en multianläggning för både idrott och kultur. I området finns redan en stor idrottsplats med ett flertal fotbollsplan samt en stor golfbana. Dessa utomhusaktiviteter kompletteras med de nya inomhusaktiviteterna och skapar en icke-kommersiell mötesplats kombinerad med fritidslokaler, utställningsmöjligheter, restaurang och café. En sådan större mötesplats kan bidra till en förbättrad social hållbarhet i Kvicksund.

Vid skapandet av Folkets hus i Sandviken var det viktigt för mig att utgå från behovet av mötesplatser och att göra vattnet tillgängligt för alla boende och besökande i området. Ångbåtsbryggan som Sandviken i sin tid växte fram utifrån fick bli utgångspunkt och en rektangulär mötesplats som sträcker sig ut i vattnet blev skapad med inramningen av sex huskroppar. Gestaltningen är utarbetad med inspiration från de gamla tegelbruken som fanns här tidigare, men även den fragmentariska bebyggelse som härskar i Sandviken på grund av den begränsande detaljplanen. Det var även viktigt för mig att inte skapa en för stor byggnad som skulle ta över det pittoreska utseendet på platsen, istället ville jag skapa möjlighet för besökarna att själva kunna använda vissa funktioner utan att huset är bemannat. Platsen mellan byggnaderna delas av den passerande bilvägen och bildar två torg för bygden att samlas kring och tillgängliggör och skapar på så sätt ett Sandviken där fler är välkomna. / When creating the community house in Sandviken, it was important for me to start from the need of places to meet and to make the water available to all residents and visitors in the area. The steamboat pier, that Sandviken in its time was founded out from, became the starting point for the project and a rectangular meeting place that extends into the water was created with the framing of six house bodies. The design is made with inspiration from the old brickworks that existed in the region before, but also the fragmentary buildings that rule in Sandviken due to the restrictive detailed plan. It was also important for me not to create an oversized building that would take over the picturesque appearance of the place, instead I wanted to create the opportunity for visitors to be able to use certain functions themselves without the house being staffed. The space between the buildings is divided by the passing car road and forms two squares for the neighborhood to gather around and makes accessible and thus creates a Sandviken where more people are welcome.

Mot bakgrund av en pågående fragmentisering av städer, likt den somidag förekommer i Malmö har frågor väckts kring möjligheten att stärkakopplingarna mellan stadsdelar samt möjligheten att bidra till fler mötesplatseri staden. Bristen på kopplingar i form av stråk mellan innerstadenoch de södra och östra stadsdelarna av Malmö, samt bristen påväldefinierade och livliga mötesplatser, har väckt frågor kring segregationoch ifrågasatt Malmö som en trygg stad att leva och bo i.I kandidatarbetet belyser vi begreppen stråk och plats. Vårt syfte medkandidatarbetet är att utforska hur man genom fysisk planering kan bidratill ökad trygghet och livlighet på stråk och platser. Vi vill tillämparesultatet av forskningen i ett förslag på ett stråk och en mötesplats iFosieby, mellan Lindängen och Fosie industriområde i Malmö. / In light of the ongoing fragmentation of cities, like the one that currentlyexists in Malmo has raised questions about the possibility of strengtheningthe linkages between neighborhoods and the opportunity to contributeto more venues in the city. The lack of links, like a string betweendowntown and the south and east parts of Malmö, as well as the lack ofwell-defined and lively venues has raised questions about segregationand challenged Malmo as a safe city to live in.The bachelor work analyze the concepts of string and place. Our purposein this work is to research how design can promote safety and livelinesson the string and places. We want to apply the results of the research toa proposal on a string and a venue in Fosieby, between Lindängen andFosie industrial area in Malmö.

Syftet med denna studie är att hjälpa den svenskkinesiska föreningen Kang Le Hua Ren i Göteborg att utveckla sina kulturmötesplatser genom att ta fram riktlinjer som stöd för utformning av kulturmötesplatser i det offentliga stadsrummet. Studiens geografiska avgräsning är Angered i Göteborgs nordöstra områden där Kang Le utövar sina aktiviteter. Avsikten är att ta fram ett första utkast på ett kreativt förslagsunderlag innefattandes visualiseringsbilder och förklarande texter som kan utgöra stöd vid utveckling av befintliga mötesplatser.Studien baseras på kvalitativa undersökningsmetoder med en fallstudie av Kang Le som kompletteras med enkätundersökning med föreningens medlemmar. Resultaten visar att tai-chi är den mest uppskattade aktiviteten bland Kang Les styrelse och medlemmar. Tai-chi och andra former av motionering, tillsammans med mat och musik utgör de allmänt betydande elementen som kan bidra till att skapa en offentlig mötesplats för kinesiskt kulturutbyte som kan tilltala fler än de som har anknytning till den kinesiska kulturen. Utöver de allmänt betydande elementen, är det nödvändigt att platsen bland annat är flexibel och något odefinierad vilket utmanar användarnas kreativitet. Det är också viktigt att varje plats undersöks grundligt för att utnyttja dess förutsättningar på bäst sätt samt att användarna involveras i skapandeprocessen.Nyckelord: Offentlig mötesplats, kulturmötesplats, kultur, kinesisk kultur, Kang Le Hua Ren, interkulturell, användardeltagande. / The aim of this thesis is to help the Swedish-Chinese association Kang Le Hua Ren in Gothenburg to develop their cultural venues by formulating guidelines to support the design of cultural venues in the public space. The study’s geographical concentrating is Angered in Gothenburg’s northeastern areas where Kang Le exercise their activities. The intention is to produce a creative proposal including visualizations and explanatory texts that can constitute support for developing existing venues.The study is based on qualitative research methods with a case study of Kang Le supplemented with a survey with members of the association. The results show that tai-chi is the most valued activity among Kang Les board and members. Tai-chi and other forms of exercise, along with food and music are the generally significant elements that can contribute to creating a public forum for Chinese cultural exchange that can appeal to more than those related to the Chinese culture. In addition to the generally significant elements, it is necessary that the venue is somewhat flexible and undefined, which challenges the users creativity.
