Considering the increasingly broadening of the internet among Brazilians and the successful experiences in campaigns and online follow-up in other countries, the purpose of this study has been investigating the current usage of internet in the electing campaigns, as well as in Brazilian politics in general. The understanding of this new space for debate which grows stronger was the aim, besides stating whether internet stimulates a more active participation from citizens in the representative democracies, nourishing the political debate, and bringing the elector and the candidate closer one from the other, increasing the citizens´ political culture, or whether it operates as the rest of the mass media bond to the logic of entertainment. Taking politics as the conflict zone between rationality and subjectivity, also the settings of the research target, this study has used a bibliography that understood this double facet from politics and quantitative/qualitative methodology resources, as the aesthetical analysis, the content analysis, the quantifying of profiles and secondary sources information interactivity refereeing to the performance of the profiles in the microblog, acquired by Tweetsats, and the candidates performance in the election run, based on TSE researches, from Ibope Institute, Datafolha Institute and VoxPopuli Institute / Esta dissertação de mestrado analisou o comportamento via Twitter dos quatro principais candidatos à Presidência da República nas eleições de 2010, Dilma Rousseff (PT), José Serra (PSDB), Marina Silva (ex-PV) e Plínio de Arruda Sampaio (PSOL), visando entender a construção de suas imagens por meio dessa ferramenta e a interação entre os candidatos e os eleitores por ela propiciada. Tendo em vista a crescente difusão da internet entre os brasileiros e as bem-sucedidas experiências de campanhas e participação online em outros países, o intuito desse estudo foi averiguar o atual uso da rede nas campanhas eleitorais e na política brasileira de maneira geral. Procurou-se compreender este novo espaço de debate que se consolida e constatar se de fato a internet incentiva uma participação mais ativa dos cidadãos nas democracias representativas, no sentido de estimular a discussão política, aproximar eleitor e candidato e aprimorar a cultura política dos cidadãos, ou, se opera como o restante do mass media, pela lógica do espetáculo. Since the beginning of BBS (Bulletin Board System), around 1978, people connects to internet to communicate, talk about curiosities and fait divers, create, are listened and feel part of a community, in a democratic platform. This study aims at analyzing the communicational nature of Twitter, approaching the relationships that can be found in messages exchanges between its members. This study is organized in three parts. The first one beggins with the definition of microspace, recovering primitive ways of communication, limited by the environment, evoluting to the first mass communication invention, the telegraph. Then, this study introduces the definition of microspace related to cyberspace s concepts proposed by Lévy and approaches the individual interest on herding, as Maffesoli said. The second part is about the poetics of cyberspace, redeeming the definition of microspace, now in other media, such as the haikais (Campos). The study sails in the cyberspace, through media culture (Santaella), net s labyrinth (Leão), translations (Plaza) and it docks in social nets (Rheingold), focusing on Twitter. Throughout the collection of material, this study exposes the communication s nature and objective found in microspace. At last, the third part presents the characteristics of net communication (Flusser and Shannon), the process of knowledge and learning generated by this kind of communication (Piaget e Freire) and it proposes a discussion on broad and restrict knowledge (Morin). The conclusions of this study may contribute to the identification of the critical thought spread through the net, exposing how this thought sails in the cyberspace and is translated in new ideas and senses / O fenômeno das redes sociais não é algo novo. Desde os primórdios da BBS (Bulletin Board System), por volta de 1978, as pessoas conectam-se à rede, para se comunicar e expor ideias, tratar de fatos e curiosidades do cotidiano, criar, fazer-se ouvir e sentir-se parte de uma comunidade, em uma plataforma democrática. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar a natureza comunicacional do Twitter, abordando as relações existentes nas trocas de mensagens entre seus usuários. A pesquisa organiza-se em três partes. A primeira trata da definição de microespaço, resgatando formas primitivas de comunicação, limitadas pelo meio, chegando então ao primeiro invento de comunicação de massa, o telégrafo. Em seguida, apresenta-se o conceito de microespaço em relação ao de ciberespaço proposto por Lévy e reflete-se sobre o indivíduo e o seu interesse em se agrupar, conforme proposição de Maffesoli. A segunda parte deste estudo discute as poéticas do ciberespaço, retomando a definição de microespaço, agora em outros meios de comunicação, como, por exemplo, os haikais (Campos). Ainda nesta segunda parte, a pesquisa navega pelo ciberespaço, através da cultura das mídias (Santaella), dos labirintos da rede (Leão), das traduções (Plaza) e aporta nas redes sociais (Rheingold), com recorte no Twitter. Por meio da coleta de material, este estudo expõe a natureza e o objetivo da comunicação encontrados no microespaço. Por fim, a terceira parte apresenta as características da comunicação em rede (Flusser e Shannon), os processos de conhecimento e aprendizagem que esta comunicação é capaz de gerar (Piaget e Freire) e propõe um debate sobre conhecimentos amplo e restrito (Morin). The different functions of emojis : The pragmatic use of five emojis in London and New York / De olika funktionerna av emojis : Den pragmatiska användningen av fem emojis i London och New York

Emojis are useful and efficient tools in computer-mediated communication. The present study aims to find out how English-speaking Twitter users employ five specific emojis, and if they utilize them for the same pragmatic functions. The five emojis were chosen based on earlier research on the subject. One of them was deemed unambiguous and four were deemed ambiguous in previous studies. To investigate whether these emojis are ambiguous and if they are used for several pragmatic functions, a corpus was made by collecting tweets from Twitter. 100 tweets were gathered for each emoji: 50 from New York and 50 from London. Each tweet was analyzed in order to see what function the emoji served in each tweet. Another objective was to find out if cultural differences had any importance for the pragmatic function of the emojis. Three of the four emojis that had been deemed ambiguous by previous research were considered to be ambiguous in the present study as well, as they displayed a multitude of different pragmatic meanings. The single emoji that was considered to be unambiguous by previous research, was used in a consistent manner in the present study, which confirmed the theory that it truly is unambiguous. The results also showed that cultural influences do play a role in how people use emojis for different pragmatic functions. / Emojis är användbara och effektiva verktyg i digital kommunikation. Denna undersökning syftar till att ta reda på hur engelsktalande Twitter-användare använder fem specifika emojis, och om de utnyttjar dem för att förmedla samma pragmatiska funktioner. Fem emojis valdes utifrån tidigare forskning i ämnet; en av dem ansågs entydig och fyra ansågs tvetydiga i tidigare studier. För att undersöka om dessa emojis är tvetydiga, och om de används för flera pragmatiska funktioner, gjordes en corpus genom att samla in tweets från Twitter. 100 tweets samlades in för varje emoji; 50 från New York och 50 från London. Varje tweet analyserades för att se vilken funktion emojin hade i varje tweet. Ett annat syfte var att ta reda på om kulturella skillnader har någon betydelse för vilken pragmatisk funktion emojin tjänar. Tre av de fyra emojis som i tidigare forskning ansetts vara tvetydiga kan betraktas som tvetydiga även i denna studie, eftersom de visade på en mängd olika pragmatiska betydelser. Den emoji som ansågs vara otvetydig i tidigare forskning visade sig användas på ett konsekvent sätt även i denna studie, vilket bekräftar teorin om att den verkligen är entydig. Resultaten av denna studie visade även att det finns en kulturell påverkan på hur människor använder emojis för olika pragmatiska funktioner.

Within this social practice, taking into account the different forms of language manifestations, the presence of technology is undeniable, moreover the interaction relations are enhanced by the Internet social networks, especially among the youngsters. Using this reflection as a springboard, this project tries to show the necessity and the importance of the school role in relation to these new textual supports that cause to emerge different digital genres that should be integrated into the academic context, to contribute to a better background knowledge to form an individual to deal with life s challenges. Twitter has acquired different functions due to the current communication that has appeared among its users, hence the awareness concerning the limits and the possibilities of written production and levels of communication of this interface should be catered by the school. The use of this communication platform as a textual support within the Portuguese Language lessons can contribute to a language learning-teaching process, in particular, for the development in the student of a more critical, discriminatory and concerned posture regarding the act of writing. We can put in evidence though, the necessity of a broader knowledge of this subject and the enormous responsibility of the teachers to take an active role in this process, reflecting upon this subject and its methodology to apply these proposals incorporating the social interactionalist theory of the language teaching into the Communication and Information Technology. / As sugestões metodológicas apresentadas pelos PCN s (Parâmetros Curriculares Nacional) apontam para uma prática sociointeracionista, quanto ao ensino da língua(gem), enquanto sistema contextualizado e determinado sóciohistoricamente. Produzir textos, portanto, é agir simbolicamente para o mundo, produzindo sentidos para o outro. Dentro dessa prática social, considerando-se as diferentes formas de manifestação da linguagem, não se pode negar a presença indubitável da tecnologia, que avança nas relações de interação, em especial, entre os jovens, por meio das Redes Sociais da Internet. A partir dessa reflexão, o presente trabalho visa mostrar a necessidade e a importância do papel da escola em relação a esses novos suportes textuais que fazem emergir novos gêneros digitais que deverão ser incorporados ao contexto acadêmico, para uma formação para a vida. A rede social Twitter adquiriu diversas funções a partir das situações comunicativas recorrentes que surgiram da interação entre os usuários, portanto a consciência quanto aos limites e às possibilidades de produção e nível de comunicação dessa interface devem ser trabalhados pela escola. O uso dessa plataforma como suporte textual nas aulas de Língua Portuguesa contribui para o processo de ensino e de aprendizagem da língua(gem), mais especificamente, para o desenvolvimento, no educando, de uma postura criteriosa, seletiva e preocupada frente ao ato de escrever. Destacam-se, portanto, a necessidade de maiores conhecimentos em torno do assunto e a enorme responsabilidade dos docentes de fazerem parte integrante e constante desse processo, refletindo sobre o assunto e a metodologia para aplicação de propostas que incorporem o ensino sociointeracionista da língua(gem) às TIC s.

Activism and Civic engagement on social media have been taking place since they became a part of communication takes place in people’s everyday lives (Mihailidis 2015). This thesis aims to study the new opportunities for civic engagement and activism that have arisen through the growth of digital media. This work aims to study this by specifically studying how activism surrounding disability and disabled people (disability activism) takes place on the social media platform Twitter. Since the needs of disabled people are often not a priority in the development of technology (World Health Organization 2011, s.184). In this study a mediated community of disability activists and their activity on Twitter are studied using nethnography. The observations of which are analyzed through theoretical foundations in infrastructuring (Mosconi et al. 2017), design in relation to civic engagement (Korn & Voida 2015), and the role of mediated communities in activism (Fromm 2015). The primary result of the nethnography is the observation of how the disability activists appropriated Twitter as an infrastructure for their activism, as well as three analytical categories of the activity that was observed during the field work. Based on this categorization and analysis of the activists’ user behavior the main contribution of this thesis is formulated: A description of how disability activists engage in infrastructuring of Twitter to create a platform where their mediated community can engage in online activism and civic engagement. / Aktivism och samhällsengagemang i sociala medier har skett sedan de blev en del av hur kommunikation sker i människors vardagsliv (Mihailidis 2015). Denna uppsats ämnar undersöka de nya möjligheterna för samhällsengagemang och aktivism som uppstått genom utvecklingen av digitala medier. Detta verk ämnar undersöka detta genom att specifikt undersöka hur aktivism kring funktionsvariation och funktionsvarierade personer (funktionsaktivism) sker på den sociala mediaplattformen Twitter. Då funktionsvarierade personers behov ofta inte prioriteras i teknologisk utveckling (World Health Organization 2011, s.184). Genom en netnografi undersöks i denna studie en medierad gemenskap av aktivister och deras aktivitet på Twitter. Observationerna analyseras och diskuteras utefter teoretiska grunder i infrastrukturering (Mosconi et al. 2017) och design i förhållande till samhällsengagemang (Korn & Voida 2015), samt medierade gemenskapers roll i aktivism (Fromm 2015). De primära resultaten av netnografin är observationen av hur funktionsaktivister approprierade Twitter som infrastruktur för sin aktivism, samt tre analytiska kategorier av aktiviteten som observerades under fältarbetet. Utifrån denna kategorisering och analysen av aktivisternas användarbeteende formuleras uppsatsens huvudsakliga bidrag: En beskrivning av hur funktionsaktivister bedriver infrastrukturering av Twitter för att skapa en plattform där deras medierade gemenskap kan bedriva aktivism och samhällsengagemang.

It is based on Twitter search of three candidates for mayor in the municipal elections of 2012 in São Paulo. The focus of the work is to try to understand the links between communication and politics in virtual networks that connect our society. The central hypothesis of the research is that, in virtual social networks, communication takes on a spectacular character, marked by entertainment and the dispersion of ideas, with regard to the question of content production with very little entertainment and concrete objectivity campaign, with use of the seductive imagery of the voting public. We analyze the relationships between social networks and virtual contemporary society, for some named as the information society. Writing addresses the language and its evolution throughout history, how your popularity was and how it can contribute to election campaigns. Also brings historical aspects of the development of new information technologies in society from personal computers to the convergence of media, and the rise of Twitter. It is expected to present an overview of the political journey in municipal elections in the city of São Paulo in terms of image on Twitter inserted in new languages arising from these new technological devices. The analyzes were also based on the messages of candidates in the scientific methodology used for the research field called Discourse Subject Collective (DSC) of the political campaign for municipal elections in the city of São Paulo in 2012 / Esta tese versa sobre o poder da comunicação política nas redes sociais virtuais, desde o seu início até nossos dias. Baseia-se em pesquisa do Twitter de três candidatos a prefeito nas eleições municipais de 2012, em São Paulo. O foco do trabalho consiste em tentar compreender os vínculos entre comunicação e política nas redes virtuais que interligam nossa sociedade. A hipótese central da pesquisa é de que, nas redes sociais virtuais, a comunicação assume um caráter espetacular, marcado pelo entretenimento e pela dispersão de ideias, no que diz respeito à questão de produção de conteúdo com muito entretenimento e pouca objetividade concreta de campanha, com utilização da sedução do imaginário do público eleitor. Analisam-se as relações entre as redes sociais virtuais e a sociedade contemporânea, para alguns nomeada como sendo a sociedade da informação. Aborda-se a linguagem escrita e sua evolução ao longo da história, como se deu a sua popularização e de que forma isso pode contribuir para campanhas eleitorais. Também traz aspectos históricos do desenvolvimento das novas tecnologias da informação na sociedade desde os computadores pessoais até a convergência das mídias, e o surgimento do Twitter. <p><strong>Syfte:</strong> Syftet med denna uppsats ligger i att undersöka hur svenska fastighetsmäklarföretag använder sig av sociala medier i sitt vardagliga arbete. Vi har undersökt hur komponenter så som <em>kundfokus, marknadsföring </em>samt <em>försäljning </em>återspeglas mot företagen i och med deras inträde i de sociala medierna.</p><p><strong>Metod: </strong>Vi har använt oss av en kvalitativ metod i arbetet och det grundar sig på en empirisk studie där vi bearbetat inhämtat material ifrån intervjuer. Vi har även haft en kumulativ inriktning i vårt arbete för att på så sätt få en mer unik aspekt på arbetet.</p><p><strong>Resultat & slutsats: </strong>Resultatet visar på att det finns en stor möjlighet för svenska fastighetsmäklarföretag att använda sig av sociala medier i ett syfte som ligger i att öka försäljningen. I dagsläget anser vi inte att medvetenheten hos svenska fastighetsmäklarföretag gällande sociala mediers betydelse är tillräckligt stor. Dessutom finns inte en insikt om att den förmodade framtida expansionen av sociala medier. Riskerna som finns i och med expansion av företaget via sociala medier är något vi tittat väldigt noga på och kommit fram till att företagen står inför en avvägning gällande taktiskt tillvägagångssätt. Riskerna som uppstår i och med att agera som marknadsledande är stora, men den fördelen det ger om man lyckas menar vi helt klart vara värt det.</p><p><strong>Förslag till fortsatt forskning:</strong> Vårt förslag till vidare forskning handlar då om ett utförligt förslag till hur företag ska framställa sin framtida expansion på marknaden. Vi har i vår uppsats tagit reda på möjligheterna och riskerna med sociala medier. Därför skulle vi se att en grundlig forskning i ett sätt att hantera problemet som detta innebär som högst relevant för fastighetsmäklarbranschen.</p><p><strong>Uppsatsens bidrag: </strong>Vi har i vår uppsats behandlat dagens situation gällande Sociala Medier inom fastighetsmäklarbranschen. Vi har utarbetat problemen i dagens läge och diskuterat huruvida dessa kan lösas för framtiden. Således menar vi att denna uppsats mycket väl kan ligga som grund för en framtida utveckling för Sociala Medier inom fastighetsmäklarbranschen.</p> / <p><strong>Aim:</strong> The purpose of this paper is to investigate how Swedish real estate brokerage firm makes use of social media in their everyday work. We have investigated how components such as customer focus, marketing and sales are reflected in the companies and their entry into social media.</p><p><strong>Method:</strong> We have used a qualitative approach in the work and it is based on an empirical study where we worked material obtained from interviews. We also have a cumulative approach in our work so as to get a more unique aspect of the work.</p><p><strong>Result & Conclusions: </strong>The results show that there is a great opportunity for Swedish real estate broker to make use of social media with a purpose to increase sales. In the current situation we do not believe that the awareness of Swedish real estate brokerage firm concerning social media is important enough. In addition, there is a realization that the probable future expansion of social media. Risks that exist in the expansion of the company through social media are something we have looked very carefully and have concluded that they face a balancing force tactical approach. The risks that arise in that acting as if you were the market leading company are very crucial. Although the advantage it gives if you succeed we have realized are very well be worth it.</p><p><strong>Suggestions for future research: </strong>Our proposal forfurther research is a more detaled research for how companies will be able to use social media in its future expansions in the market. We have in our thesis examined the possibilities and risks of social media. Therefore, we see that a thorough research in a way to deal with the problem that this presents as highly relevant for the real estate business.</p><p><strong>Contribution of the thesis: </strong>We have in our thesis examined the current situation concerning Social Media in the real estate business. We have developed todays problems and discuss whether these can be resolved for the future. Thus, we believe that this thesis may well serve as a basis for future development of Social Media in the real estate business.</p>

Vi har undersökt hur komponenter så som kundfokus, marknadsföring samt försäljning återspeglas mot företagen i och med deras inträde i de sociala medierna. Metod: Vi har använt oss av en kvalitativ metod i arbetet och det grundar sig på en empirisk studie där vi bearbetat inhämtat material ifrån intervjuer. Vi har även haft en kumulativ inriktning i vårt arbete för att på så sätt få en mer unik aspekt på arbetet. Resultat &amp; slutsats: Resultatet visar på att det finns en stor möjlighet för svenska fastighetsmäklarföretag att använda sig av sociala medier i ett syfte som ligger i att öka försäljningen. I dagsläget anser vi inte att medvetenheten hos svenska fastighetsmäklarföretag gällande sociala mediers betydelse är tillräckligt stor. Dessutom finns inte en insikt om att den förmodade framtida expansionen av sociala medier. Riskerna som finns i och med expansion av företaget via sociala medier är något vi tittat väldigt noga på och kommit fram till att företagen står inför en avvägning gällande taktiskt tillvägagångssätt. Riskerna som uppstår i och med att agera som marknadsledande är stora, men den fördelen det ger om man lyckas menar vi helt klart vara värt det. Förslag till fortsatt forskning: Vårt förslag till vidare forskning handlar då om ett utförligt förslag till hur företag ska framställa sin framtida expansion på marknaden. Vi har i vår uppsats tagit reda på möjligheterna och riskerna med sociala medier. Därför skulle vi se att en grundlig forskning i ett sätt att hantera problemet som detta innebär som högst relevant för fastighetsmäklarbranschen. Uppsatsens bidrag: Vi har i vår uppsats behandlat dagens situation gällande Sociala Medier inom fastighetsmäklarbranschen. Vi har utarbetat problemen i dagens läge och diskuterat huruvida dessa kan lösas för framtiden. Således menar vi att denna uppsats mycket väl kan ligga som grund för en framtida utveckling för Sociala Medier inom fastighetsmäklarbranschen. / Aim: The purpose of this paper is to investigate how Swedish real estate brokerage firm makes use of social media in their everyday work. We have investigated how components such as customer focus, marketing and sales are reflected in the companies and their entry into social media. Method: We have used a qualitative approach in the work and it is based on an empirical study where we worked material obtained from interviews. We also have a cumulative approach in our work so as to get a more unique aspect of the work. Result &amp; Conclusions: The results show that there is a great opportunity for Swedish real estate broker to make use of social media with a purpose to increase sales. In the current situation we do not believe that the awareness of Swedish real estate brokerage firm concerning social media is important enough. In addition, there is a realization that the probable future expansion of social media. Risks that exist in the expansion of the company through social media are something we have looked very carefully and have concluded that they face a balancing force tactical approach. The risks that arise in that acting as if you were the market leading company are very crucial. Although the advantage it gives if you succeed we have realized are very well be worth it. Suggestions for future research: Our proposal forfurther research is a more detaled research for how companies will be able to use social media in its future expansions in the market. We have in our thesis examined the possibilities and risks of social media. Therefore, we see that a thorough research in a way to deal with the problem that this presents as highly relevant for the real estate business. Contribution of the thesis: We have in our thesis examined the current situation concerning Social Media in the real estate business. We have developed todays problems and discuss whether these can be resolved for the future. Thus, we believe that this thesis may well serve as a basis for future development of Social Media in the real estate business.
