Widget Integration with Ericsson Business Communication Suite / Anpassning av "widget" till Ericssons "Business Communication Suite"

Ericssons Business Communication Suite (BCS) är en Unified Communication-lösning, och är avsedd för större företag och teleoperatörer. BCS erbjuder tjänster som snabbmeddelanden, videosamtal, lägga till kontakter i grupper samt grupphantering mm. Syftet med detta projekt var tvåfaldigt; att utveckla och integrera ett program som kan kommunicera med Ericssons BCS, samt att dokumentera denna integration genom de erhållna kunskaperna från utvecklingen. Applikationen utvecklades för Windows Sidebar widget miljön och BCS miljön simulerades med hjälp av flera program och applikationer som tillhandahölls av Ericsson. Det första resultatet är en steg-för-steg integrationsguide, som innehåller installationsintruktioner för BCS-miljön samt riktlinjer för denna integration. Det andra resultatet är en widget som kan söka efter personer på sökmotorn www.eniro.se och utnyttja tjänster som tillhandahålls från BCS, som kontakt-och grupphantering samt videosamtal. Detta projekt visar att en tredjepartsutvecklad applikation kan integreras med BCS, och att tredjepartsutvecklare samt anställda på Ericsson kan använda steg-för-steg integrationsguiden för att sätta upp test- och utvecklingsmiljö för BCS. / Ericsson Business Communication Suite (BCS) is a Unified Communication solution destined for larger companies and telecommunication operators. BCS offers services such as instant messaging, video calls, contact group management and much more. The purpose of this project was twofold; developing and integrating an application that could communicate with Ericsson's Business Communication Suite, but also to document this integration through the knowledge acquired from the development. The application was developed for the Windows Sidebar widget engine and a BCS environment was simulated with the help of several programs and applications provided by Ericsson. The results of the project are a step-by-step integration guide, which contains environment setup as well as integration guidelines, and also a widget application that can search for people on the search engine www.eniro.se and utilize services provided by BCS such as contact and group management and video calls. This project demonstrates that a third party developed application can be integrated with Ericsson BCS, and that third party developers and people at Ericsson can use the step-by-step integration guide to easily setup the necessary BCS test environments.

Title: Using Carrots to Bring Peace? Negotiation and Third Party Involvement Author: Martina Klimesova 284 p. (+references and appendices) March 2011 How to make peace? This dissertation answers what impact third party incentives have on peace negotiation, more specifically on negotiation strategies in internal armed conflicts based on self-determination grievances. This study further assesses when the ripest time for the employment of incentives is, and in what way external incentives have an impact on possible negotiation asymmetries. Incentives in the following negotiation processes were analyzed: GoSL-LTTE in Sri Lanka (Eelam, 2002-03; 2006), GoI-GAM in Indonesia (Aceh, 2000-03; 2005), and the GRP-MILF in the Philippines (Mindanao, 2001-08). The findings indicate that those third party incentives which are linked to the core conflict issues are most likely to have some impact on the negotiation, but that committed pro-process leadership by the conflicting parties is also a necessity. The research also indicated that third parties have only limited options in employing incentives that can have an impact on the core conflict issues; and that, in any case, they are rarely willing to pursue such options. Bakgrund: Under de senaste decennierna har behovet gällande effektivare logistikhantering inom alla branscher ökat. Detta härstammar bland annat från förändrade ekonomiska förutsättningar, geopolitiska omvälvningar och utvidgade globala försörjningskedjor. Den interna logistiken har en central roll för att effektivisera interna logistikaktiviteter som till stor del avser ett företags lager, färdigvarulager och godshantering. En bidragande faktor som avgör svårighetsgraden för dessa aktiviteter är produktens fysiska utformning, då tyngre och större föremål kräver mer resurser, såsom planering och hantering. Dock med dagens föränderliga marknad och dess tillhörande osäkerhet, blir påfrestningarna för företag och deras logistik- och lagerplanering mer påtagliga. Syftet: Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hanteringen av tungt och otympligt gods i färdigvarulagret för att tidseffektivisera lageraktiviteterna som påverkar utlastningskapaciteten. Metod: Det har utförts en fallstudie på ett företag beläget i Gävle kommun, som i denna studie kallas för Företag X. För att kunna undersöka kring det valda ämnet har även ett till företag varit aktuell till denna fallstudie, även det företaget är beläget i Gävle kommun och kallas i denna studie för Företag Y. Genom observationer på Företag Y, intervjuer med personal från Företag Y, samt skriftlig och fysisk kontakt med personal på Företag X har empiriska data samlats in. En kvalitativ deduktiv ansats har använts för att besvara studiens syfte och frågeställning. Empiri: Från produktionen på Företag X till utlastningen på Företag Y är det många medverkande aktörer som alla har en påverkan på utlastningskapaciteten. Det sker även tre olika betydande aktiviteter innan kund får sina produkter, dessa är inlagring, preppning och direktlast/förlast. I dagsläget är det avtalat att Företag Y ska hantera utlastningen av 13 lastbilar per dag åt Företag X. Dock finns det en ojämn spridning kring antalet lastbilar som ankommer per dag samt deras ankomsttider. Slutsats: Studien påvisar att lageraktiviteterna som påverkar utlastningskapaciteten kunna tidseffektiviseras om slottidsbokningssystem, ett mer utvecklat lagerhanteringssystem samt rutiner kring inlagringen infördes, även att all tillgänglig resurs utnyttjades. / Background: In recent decades, more efficient logistics management has been increasingly required in all industries. This comes from, among other things, changed economic conditions, geopolitical upheavals and extended global supply chains. Internal logistics has a central role when the internal logistics activities are going to get more effective. Those internal logistics activities are mainly about a company's warehouse, finished goods warehouse and goods handling. A contributing factor that determines the degree of difficulty of these activities is the physical design of the product, as heavier and larger objects require more resources, such as planning and handling. However, with today's changing market and its associated uncertainty, the stresses on companies and their logistics and inventory planning are becoming more apparent. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the handling of heavy and unwieldy goods in the finished goods warehouse in order to make the warehouse activities that affect the loading capacity time-efficient.  Method: During this study we have implemented a case study on a company located in Gävle, that is referred to in this study as Company X. In order to investigate the chosen topic, another company has also been relevant to this case study, that company is also located in Gävle and is referred to in this study as Company Y. Through observations at Company Y, interviews with personnel from Company Y, as well as written and physical contact with personnel at Company X, the empirical data has been collected. A qualitative deductive approach has been used to answer the purpose and question of the study. Empiricism: From the production at Company X to the utilization at Company Y there are many participating actors who all have an impact on the loading capacity. There are also three different significant activities before the customer receives their products, which is storage, prepping and directloading/preloading. Currently is has been agreed that Company Y will handle the loading of 13 trucks per day for Comapny X. However, there is an uneven spread regarding the number of trucks that arrive per day and their arrival times.  Conclusion: The study shows that the warehouse activities that affect the loading capacity can be time-efficient if a slot time booking system, a more developed warehouse management system and routines regarding the storage were introduced, also that all available resources were utilized.

Utmaningar med olika beräkningsmetoder inom landsvägstransport : En studie av tredjepartslogistikföretag och business-to-business kunder

Background and discussion of the problem: At present, it is not possible to compare the greenhouse gas emissions in the third-party logistics sector on an equal basis, as there are different methods of calculating greenhouse gas emissions to be applied to third-party logistics companies. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to highlight the challenges that arise for the 3PL company and its business-to-business customers when there are different greenhouse gas emission calculation methods available for application. Method: A qualitative study was conducted through semi-structured interviews with the 3PL company, the government agency, and three business-to-business customers. In addition, a text analysis of five different third-party logistics companies was conducted.  Conclusion: The study has determined that the current calculation methods are insufficient as individual calculation methods and are not suitable for comparison. As a result, inequity in the third-party logistics industry is likely to persist, as third-party logistics companies may report distorted results. The study also shows that when third-party logistics providers are unsure about which calculating method to use, their business-to-business customers are impacted.  The study contributes to practical usefulness as the 3PL company gains a clearer insight into how other stakeholders relate to the different calculation methods, which is also relevant for other third-party logistics companies. The study has also contributed to theoretical usefulness through several different articles, creating an extended theoretical availability for the third-party logistics industry. / Bakgrund och problemdiskussion: För närvarande går det inte att likställt jämföra växthusgasutsläpp inom tredjepartslogistikbranschen, eftersom det finns olika beräkningsmetoder av växthusgasutsläpp att tillämpa för tredjepartslogistikföretagen.  Syfte: Studiens syfte är att belysa utmaningar som uppstår för 3PL företaget och dess business-to-business kunder när det finns olika beräkningsmetoder av växthusgasutsläpp att tillämpa. Metod: En kvalitativ studie har genomförts genom semi-strukturerad intervjustudie med 3PL företaget, myndigheten och tre business-to-business kunder. Samt har en textanalys på fem olika tredjepartslogistikföretag genomförts.  Slutsats: Studien fastställer att de beräkningsmetoder som tillhandahålls idag inte lämpar sig för jämförande och är otillräckliga som enskilda beräkningsmetoder. Slutsatsen av detta är att orättvisan inom tredjepartslogistikbranschen kommer kvarstå då tredjepartslogistikföretagen kan redovisa förvrängda resultat. Studien fastställer även att tredjepartslogistikföretagens business-to-business kunder påverkas när tredjepartslogistikföretagen känner sig osäkra kring valet av beräkningsmetod. Studien bidrar till praktisk användbarhet då 3PL företaget får en klarare insyn i hur andra intressenter förhåller sig till de olika beräkningsmetoderna, vilket även är relevant för andra tredjepartslogistikföretag. Studien har även bidragit till teoretisk användbarhet genom att användning av flera olika artiklar skapat en utökad teoretisk tillgänglighet inom tredjepartslogistikbranschen.

Effekten av olika logistiklösningar : En studie kring fördelar och nackdelar med tredjepartslogistik och inbärning till ett projekt i Dalarna

Inom byggbranschen har man börjat sett fördelar med att titta mer på logistiken iolika byggprojekt. Många olika studier har utförts kring vilka lösningar som finnsoch hur man kan använda dem.Denna studie utförs i samarbete med Skanska Sverige AB. Studien syftar till att påolika sätt undersöka vilka fördelar och nackdelar man kan se med att använda sigav logistiktjänsterna terminalisering och inbärning till ett byggprojekt i Dalarna.Byggprojektet som utgör det specifika fallet i studien är ett ombyggnadsprojekt aven grundskola. Elever vistas i detta skolområde samtidigt som ombyggnationenutförs etappvis inom det stängda arbetsområdet. Studien innefattar även tredje mandär trygghetsupplevelse kring arbetsplatsen undersöks. Inbärningens användbarhetdiskuteras därefter utifrån trygghetsupplevelsen kring och inom arbetsplatsen samtutifrån ekonomiskt och ekologiskt perspektiv.Metoder som används i studien är intervjuer med somliga från projektets ledning,en logistiker på Skanska, rektor för årskurs F-6, yrkesarbetare samt tredje man.Utöver dessa intervjuer utförs även en fältstudie som involverar observationer ochmätningar. Som avslut utförs överslagsberäkningar för att se om användning av ettexternt företag kan leda till ekonomisk lönsamhet.Studiens resultat visar hur man inom företaget ser på logistiklösningarnaterminalisering och inbärning idag. Här visas även vilka fördelar och nackdelarolika parter ser med tjänsterna. Fältstudiens mätningar visar hur många av tredjeman som rör sig kring arbetsområdet i anslutning till att skoldagen börjar.Överslagsberäkningar visar på att man kan se en besparing ifall man använder sigav ett inbärningsföretag som arbetar under kvällstid och detta sker i samband medatt man använder sig av terminalisering.Studiens slutsatser är att det inte finns en allmän lösning till hur logistikfrågan skalösas på olika projekt. Om det finns möjlighet för terminalisering i området ärdetta samt inbärning ett alternativ för projektet. / Within the construction industry the advantages of looking at the logistics todifferent projects has been acknowledged during the past couple of years.This study has been written in collaboration with Skanska Sverige AB. Thepurpose of the study is to, in different ways, examine what advantages anddisadvantages there are in using the logistics solutions terminalization (also knownto be a part of Third Party Logistics) and inside delivery to a specific project inDalarna, Sweden. This project is a remodeling project of a school with studentsfrom six to sixteen years old. Within the school area new parts of the school isbuilt while students are located in the yet existent buildings. This infer thatstudents move around the construction sites daily. The study also involves thirdparty people and how these people feel about the large transports connected to theproject. The inside delivery utility is then discussed based on the securityexperience within and around the construction site along with the economic andecological perspective of the service.The methods used in this study are interviews with three people of the projectmanagement, one person that works with logistics at the company, the headmasterof the younger students, skilled workers and third party people. Furthermore afield study is done that includes measurements and observations. As a close,calculations are done to determine if a economical profitability could be possibleby using inside delivery.Results from the study show how the logistics solutions terminalization and insidedelivery is looked at within Skanska today. Here, the advantages anddisadvantages with the different services are displayed from the perspectives of thepeople who were interviewed. The results from the measurements from the fieldstudy presents how many third party people that move adjacent to the two activeconstruction sites when the school day begins. The calculations show that it iseconomically beneficial to use inside delivery after the end of the workday whileused with terminalization.Conclusions of the study indicate that there are no overall solutions regarding howthe logistics must be used in different projects. If there is a possibility to use terminalization in the area where the project is situated, this, along with insidedelivery, is a good alternative for the project.

Understanding the Impact of Cloud-Based Shadow IT on Employee and IT-Manager Perceptions in the Swedish Tech Industry

This study focuses on the impact of Cloud-Based Shadow IT on data privacy in the tech sector of Sweden. It explores the use of unapproved applications by employees without the knowledge and control of the IT department. The objective is to understand how Cloud-Based Shadow IT affects employees' compliance with cloud services and to examine the understanding of IT managers regarding this phenomenon. The research problem addresses the challenges faced in ensuring compliance with regulations and effective utilization of cloud technology. By identifying the strengths, weaknesses, possibilities, and risks associated with Cloud-Based Shadow IT, this study aimed to provide insights for companies and IT managers in making informed decisions. It explores the relationship between Shadow IT and cloud services and investigates employees' and IT managers' adherence to and understanding of these issues.    The findings indicate that employees have varying levels of understanding, with limited knowledge of approved cloud services. Managers prioritize security concerns, including data compliance and ownership, but lack strategies to address knowledge gaps. The use of Cloud-Based Shadow IT has both positive and negative consequences, including increased productivity and collaboration but also data loss and non-compliance risks. Factors such as education and awareness of security risks are important for employees to understand and comply with policies. Overall, the study highlights the need for continuous education and awareness programs to improve understanding and decision-making regarding cloud services and Shadow IT.

Sustainable logistics service providers : A qualitative case study of future technology and IT solutions attributes for 3PL clients / Hållbara logistikleverantörer : En kvalitativ fallstudie av framtida attribut för teknologi och IT-lösningar för 3PL-kunder

The growing demand for commerce has disrupted the market's supply chains. To manage the customer demands, contracting a third-party logistics (3PL) can help make the chain more resource efficient. Actions such as implementing sustainable technology and IT infrastructure are important to invest in. This can make a positive impact on operational performance and financial indicators. However, it is unclear what motivates clients to sign on more sustainable technical solutions inside a logistics warehouse. The creation of a warehouse takes years, which requires a forefront strategy and technical solutions with multiple attributes. By evaluating key performance indicators (KPIs) that are important for both clients and 3PL, a co-align strategy for a sustainable competitive advantage can materialize. This by creating a sustainable balanced scorecard (SBSC) and from those evaluating attributes required by the technology and IT infrastructure. The purpose of this master's thesis is to identify the attributes required from the technology and IT infrastructure by the clients of a 3PL for their technical solution inside the warehouses. To be a sustainable logistic service provider requires a client with a sustainability mindset. Sustainable initiatives are only interesting if there is a guarantee of return on investment. The priority for clients is the operational activities – a direct value for the end customer. One challenge is that the clients do not have insight into what sustainable indicators to use inside the warehouses. Providing a sustainable strategy for the warehouses is identified as the logistic service provider's responsibility. A number (39) of KPIs were identified as important when evaluating the previous strategy at a case company and interviewing 11 respondents. All respondents were clients of a 3PL, working at a 3PL, or suppliers to a 3PL. An additional feature to the known framework of SBSC was developed by the author, named "attribute aiding". With the additional feature of "attribute aiding", additional (22) attributes from technology and IT infrastructure could be identified from the created SBSC. Future research can evaluate how accurate this procedure is. Practical implications are that the future technology and IT infrastructure will require abilities to show and act depending on when it is most beneficial to be resource-efficient or cost-efficient. What can be done inside the warehouses are adding services to the client's business, showing transparency and secure control over the operations, acting with ergonomic considerations, and improving the partnership. / Den växande efterfrågan på handel har stört marknadens leveranskedjor. För att hantera kundernas krav kan kontraktering av en tredjepartslogistikpartner (3PL) hjälpa till att göra kedjan resurseffektiv. Åtgärder som att implementera hållbar teknik och IT-infrastruktur är viktigt att investera i eftersom det har en positiv inverkan på det operativa resultatet och de finansiella indikatorerna. Det är dock oklart vad som motiverar kunderna att teckna mer hållbara tekniska lösningar i ett logistiklager. Skapandet av ett lager tar år, vilket kräver strategi och tekniska lösningar i framkant med flera olika egenskaper. Genom att utvärdera resultatindikatorer (KPI:er) som är viktiga för både kunder och 3PL, kan en samordnad strategi med en hållbar konkurrensfördel skapas. Detta genom att konstruera ett hållbart balanserat styrkort (SBSC) och utifrån det utvärdera egenskaper/krav för teknik och IT-infrastruktur. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att identifiera vilka egenskaper hos teknologi och IT-infrastruktur som kunderna kräver av en 3PL i de tekniska lösningarna för lagren. För att vara en leverantör av hållbara logistiktjänster krävs en kund med ett hållbarhetstänk. Den viktigaste anledningen för hållbara initiativ är att de ger en positiv avkastning. Prioriteringen för kunderna är den operativa verksamheten – ett direkt värde för slutkunden. En utmaning är att kunder inte har insikten att exemplifiera vilka hållbarhetsindikatorer de vill fokusera på i lagren. En hållbarhetsstrategi för lagren anses vara leverantörens ansvar. Ett antal (39) nyckeltal identifierades som viktiga mått när strategin hos ett case-företag utvärderades och 11 respondenter intervjuades. Respondenterna var alla kunder till en 3PL, arbetar med 3PL eller är leverantörer till en 3PL. En ytterligare funktion till det kända ramverket för SBSC utvecklades av författaren, kallat "Attribut". Med den extra funktionen "Attribut" kunde 22 egenskaper från teknik och IT-infrastruktur identifieras. Framtida forskning får utvärdera hur exakt denna procedur är. Praktiska implikationer är att den framtida tekniken och IT-infrastrukturen kommer att kräva förmåga att bevisa och agera efter när det är mest fördelaktigt att vara resurseffektiv eller kostnadseffektiv. Det som kan göras inne i lagren är att tillföra tjänster till kundens verksamhet, att visa transparens och kontroll över kedjan, agera mer ergonomiskt och att förbättra partnerskapet.

[pt] O objetivo desta dissertação é desenvolver um modelo de autoavaliação da gestão de riscos em instituições gestoras de recursos de terceiros, segundo uma abordagem multicritério de apoio à decisão e tendo como base as diretrizes da Norma ABNT NBR ISO 31000:2018. Busca-se demonstrar a aplicabilidade do modelo mediante o desenvolvimento de um estudo empírico em uma instituição gestora de recursos de terceiros e administração dos fundos de investimento. A metodologia compreende: (i) revisão da literatura e análise documental sobre os temas centrais da pesquisa; (ii) definição de estruturas analíticas em rede, segundo as cláusulas e itens da referida Norma; (iii) emprego do método Analytic Network Process (ANP) para atribuição de pesos aos itens da Norma referentes à estrutura e ao processo de gestão de riscos, mediante reuniões consensuais com especialistas com formação e experiência em gestão de riscos; (iv) elaboração e aplicação do instrumento de autoavaliação junto à instituição gestora de recursos de terceiros e administração dos fundos de investimento para avaliar seu nível de maturidade em relação às cláusulas e aos itens da Norma, com uso da lógica fuzzy; (vi) emprego do método Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) para identificar os itens que devem ser priorizados, visando à melhoria da gestão de riscos da instituição. Destaca-se como resultado principal uma sistemática inovadora de autoavaliação de instituições gestoras de recursos de terceiros que buscam a excelência em gestão de riscos, na perspectiva de apoiar processos decisórios referentes à melhoria contínua de seus sistemas e processos de gestão de riscos. O estudo empírico no contexto organizacional da instituição gestora de recursos de terceiros demonstrou ser plausível determinar o nível de maturidade desta instituição em relação às cláusulas da Norma ABNT NBR ISO 31000:2018 e mapear os principais desafios a serem gerenciados pela instituição, tendo em vista a realização de valor pela gestão de riscos bem sucedida. / [en] This dissertation aims to develop a risk management self-assessment model in third-party asset management institutions, according to a multi-criteria decision support approach and based on the guidelines of the ABNT NBR ISO 31000:2018 Standard. It seeks to demonstrate the model s applicability by developing an empirical study in an institution specialist in third-party resources management and investment fund administration. The methodology comprises: (i) literature review and documental analysis on the central themes of the research; (ii) definition of two analytical network structures, based on the clauses and items of referred Standard; (iii) use of the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method to assign weights to the items concerning the structure and the process of risk management, through consensual meetings involving specialists with experience in risk management; (iv) elaboration and application of the self-assessment instrument in the institution that manages third-party resources and administrates investment funds to assess their level of maturity in relation to the clauses and items of the ABNT NBR ISO 31000:2018 Standard, using fuzzy logic; (vi) application of the Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) method to identify the items that should be prioritized, with a view to improving the institution s risk management. The main result is an innovative self-assessment system of institutions managing third-party resources that seek excellence in risk management to support decisions related to the continuous improvement of their risk management systems and processes. The empirical study in the organizational context of an institution specialist in third-party resources management demonstrated that it is plausible to determine the maturity level of this institution concerning the clauses and items of the ABNT NBR ISO 31000:2018 standard and to map the main challenges faced by this institution to realize value by the successful risk management.

Reverse logistics is an important process that is often misunderstood. Reverse logistics can cause considerable cost, but provide numerous opportunities. Many organisations do not understand the correct processes and procedures to follow and how to manage reverse logistics efficiently. The focus of this study was on best practices in reverse logistics. A best practice framework was developed to help organisations overcome problems and manage their reverse logistics more efficiently. This study adopted a mixed method research approach with both qualitative and quantitative elements. A comprehensive literature study was conducted to develop a conceptual best practice framework in reverse logistics and a survey was conducted to seek inputs from industry in South Africa to refine the framework into a workable instrument in practice. The study concluded that the best practices identified in literature have proven to be important in practice, and applying such practices will enable organisations to manage their reverse logistics more efficiently. / Business Management / M.
