Les liens familiaux à l'épreuve de l'abandon d'enfant / Family relationship put to the test by child abandonment

Boos, Candice 08 December 2016 (has links)
Child abandonment is an old phenomenon that has spanned centuries. In the 21st century, it should be noted that it has become a multi-sided issue. Child abandonment has a significant impact on family relationships which are likely to be disturbed given the behaviour of the abandoning parent and the moment when the abandonment occured. A child may thus have been abandoned by his or her parent(s) at birth, which hinders the creation of a child-parent relationship. Therefore this minor will not be legally attached to his/her mother and/or father. Furthermore, once the filiation has been established, the child and his parents will weave family bonds that they will develop over time, but a certain amount of factors may impair the family ties that will have been created among family members, leading, in some cases, to child abandonment. Subsequently the vulnerable and helpless child is bound to be a victim. Lawmakers should hence do their utmost to protect the well-being and the interest of the latter. Nervertheless the positive law in force may compromise the creation or the continuation of the family relationship among the lineage. As a result, would it not be appropriate, in some cases of abandonment, to readjust measures and sanctions (civil penalties) with a view to maintaining family bonds ? Conversely is the legal framework sufficient and effective to punish abandoning parents ? Therefore our objective consisted in suggesting various measures to overcome those difficulties while emphasizing the protection of family relationship when required by the child’s interest.

Régulation émotionnelle des enfants et adolescents placés : de la maltraitance au parcours de placement : une approche au prisme des stratégies de coping et du tempérament / Emotional regulation of children and adolescents in foster care : from maltreatment to placement trajectory : an approach to the prism of coping strategies and temperament

Delaville, Emeline 04 April 2019 (has links)
This thesis deals with the emotional regulation of foster children and adolescents placed to the “Aide Sociale à l’Enfance”. We approach the subject through the prism of developmental psychopathology, related to the theory of attachment. The coping strategies and temperament are studied as emotional regulators. The issue is to study the effects of maltreatment and of the placement trajectory in order to highlight the resources and vulnerabilities of these young people. This thesis develops a quantitative approach based on two series of questionnaires carried out on maltreated youth and from a control sample. The results shed light on the risk and protective factors generated by such life and highlight the specific needs of these young people. A number of recommendations are made to invite child protection institutions to propose other means of support, with the goal of promoting tailor-made care, adapted to the characteristics of the foster children and adolescents.

A Psychoanalytic Interpretation : Jay Gatsby’s Id, Superego, Ego, and Core Issues / En psykoanalytisk tolkning : Jay Gatsbys id, superego, ego och centrala problem

Miranda O'Shea, Flavia January 2019 (has links)
The present essay attempts a psychoanalytic interpretation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Jay Gatsby’s id, superego, ego, and core issues. The first stage of the paper offers an analysis of Gatsby’s id, superego and ego; and finds that the id largely rules his behaviour, with few instances where the ego takes control and manifests the superego. The second stage proposes that three psychoanalytic core issues are identifiable in the character of Gatsby: fear of abandonment, low self-esteem and insecure or unstable sense of self. Through the lens of Psychoanalytic Criticism, the present essay looks at fictional literature in order to gain insight into the human psyche, in hopes of discussing and spreading awareness about mental health.

Effektiv webbdesign i e-handeln : Design som ökar slutförandet av köp i webbutiker / Effective web design in e-commerce : Using design to motivate customers to complete their purchases

Bodell, Nicklas January 2020 (has links)
Society is becoming increasingly more digitized and with this development e-commerce has seen continuous growth these past decades.   Within the growing e-commerce there is a however a big problem that has led to and continues to lead to significant monetary losses. According to current statistics over two thirds of customers online abandon their shopping carts without completing their purchases. In some cases, the reasons for this points to different emotions felt by customers which are created by how webshops are built and how they work.   Due to this problem this study has researched how one could apply design to increase the completion of purchases in online stores.   To answer this question a qualitative study was carried out in which interviews based on the research question and previous relevent research were conducted with people who frequently use online stores and who at some point have abandoned their shopping cart without completing their purchase.   The result of these interviews and the subsequent analysis was the finding of the two areas ”Navigation system” and ”Checkout and shopping cart” in which design can be used to increase the completion of purchases and design guidelines that are to be applied when designing these areas with the purpose of reducing shopping cart abandonment.    Lastly, design mockups where created to visualize these areas with the design guidelines applied.

Digesting the Pan-African Failure and the Role of African Psychology : Fanonian understanding of the Pan-African failure in establishing oneness and ending disunity/xenophobia in South Africa

Mohamed, Aisha January 2021 (has links)
The study insists on understanding the miscarriage of “Pan-Africanism” and the role of “African” mentality with the help of Fanon’s psychoanalysis “Black Skin, White Mask,” exemplifying the immense colonial, slavery, and apartheid psychological damages experienced by Black individuals resulting Blacks/Africans self-hate and a desire to be “white” throughout the domain of Western culture, ideology, and language. To provide accurate analysis of the “Pan-African” failure to solve increasing blacks-hate-against-blacks/xenophobia in South Africa, concepts othering, mimicry, subaltern from the critical theory (postcolonialism) were applied. Thereupon, Qualitative Content Analysis and Critical Discourse Analysis relying on the theoretical concepts were conducted, which underlined how the mimicry process makes Africa's interaction an elite-driven one, oppressing African/subaltern citizens. The findings showed a need for "Black-Consciousness" and Nkrumah's “Pan-African” vision (African unification) to end colonial-mentality generating collective subordination of Subaltern/Africans. Generally, the use of Fanon’s psycho-social analysis has shown that the generational oppression, trauma, and cultural stereotypes continue to robotize and dictate African leaders and the African Union's favoritism of Western “neo-liberal” policies. It is summarized that the “Pan-African” failure is a failure of gradual unconscious “Pan-Africanists” who pledge allegiance to “Western” policies rather than rededicating themselves to durable Radical “Pan-Africanism” which is an antidote to Africa’s self-hate/xenophobia, neo-colonialism, and the robotization of unconscious Africans.

[pt] ABANDONO ESCOLAR COMPULSÓRIO DE MENINAS: TRABALHO REPRODUTIVO E TRABALHO DOMÉSTICO NA MODERNIDADE/COLONIALIDADE / [en] GIRL S COMPULSORY SCHOOL ABANDONMENT: REPRODUCTIVE WORK AND DOMESTIC WORK IN MODERNITY/COLONIALITY

FLAVIA MARIA CAVALLO PFEIL 10 December 2020 (has links)
[en] This research aims to analyze the specificities of the so-called school abandonment of girls from the public school system. Based on the dialogue with feminist, decolonial and anti-racist authors, we seek to trigger the persistence of colonial logic, essentially racist and patriarchal, in modernity/coloniality and its effects on the girls and women from subalternized classes lives. We analyze that girls failure and / or abandonment, as well as boys, are most often the product of the economic and racial inequality that structures our society. However, in the case of girls, who historically have, in the patriarchal order, their reproductive and sexual capacities as a target for control and exploitation, their withdrawal from school has peculiar reasons. They are related to the sexual division of labor, which places reproductive work and domestic work as natural and priority functions of the so-called female sex, placing any other activity in a less important place. Operating in coloniality, education can also have an important role in this process. By (re)producing discourses and practices that reinforce sexual roles, it perpetuates the idea that schooling is secondary for girls, contributing to school abandonment.

Living A Mad Politics: Affirming Mad Onto-Ethico-Epistemologies Through Resonance, Resistance, and Relational Redress of Epistemic-Affective Harm

de Bie, Alise January 2019 (has links)
Drawing on the theoretical influences of Mad and Disability Studies; philosophical conceptualizations of epistemic injustice (Fricker, 2007), ethical loneliness (Stauffer, 2015), and psycho-emotional disablism (Reeve, 2012; Thomas, 1999; 2007); disability/service user/feminist ethics; a decade of Mad Movement community organizing; as well as autobiographical illustrations and empirical data from two collaborative research projects, this thesis describes my efforts to live a Mad politics in the community, academy, and social work education. Central to this politics, and to the overall contribution of the thesis, is its focus on (1) the recognition and redress of affective-epistemic harms that are often ignored by legislative/social welfare approaches to in/justice; and (2) the generation and refinement of Mad knowledge/ways of knowing that respond to our own priorities as Mad people, rather than those of mental health systems. It contributes to these areas of Mad Studies theory in several ways: First, by recognizing and politicizing the often ignored affective-epistemic effects of abandonment and neglect Mad people experience from society, including loneliness, anger, resentment, distrust, low expectations of others and lack of confidence. Second, by seeking new conceptualizations (such as epistemic loneliness) and contributing to existing ones (like expectations of just treatment, psycho-emotional disablism) in order to more adequately interpret and attest to these harms and call for their redress. Third, by affirming emergent Mad moral and epistemological frameworks, especially those that manifest in the aftermath of harm and account for ontologies of knowing. Fourth, by developing Survivor/Service User Research approaches to analysis (listening for resonance, everyday forms of service user resistance, and ‘quiet’ data) that value affective engagements with data and perceive and respond to Mad onto-ethico-epistemologies in and on their own terms. Ultimately, this work calls for greater relational justice, and an expansion of what we owe each other. / Thesis / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) / This thesis contributes to Mad theory by recording some of the things I learned while trying to survive in the world, community organizing, the academy, and social work education as a Mad person. To do so, I reflect on the existential and ethical questions I brought to my doctoral studies, the people, texts, and concepts that I found particularly good company during this time, and my Mad methods of living/doing/knowing. Three separate but interconnected articles then follow. These are about (1) moving with loneliness as a Mad student; (2) resisting unmet expectations as service user ethics, and (3) how pedagogical partnerships between students and faculty/staff can cultivate marginalized students’ confidence in their knowledge. The thesis ends with a discussion of its overall contributions to how we conceptualize the psycho-emotional harms produced through sanism/disablism and the ways we understand what Mad knowledge is and how it is generated.
