Lokaler och redskap i Idrott och hälsa : En studie om lokal- och redskapstillgångar på grundskolan och gymnasieskolan / Premises and equipment in Physical Education : A study about premises – and equipment assets in primary and secondary school

Lignell, Malin January 2015 (has links)
At the start of physical education (PE) in the 1900s century there were problems with lack of premises. These problems continued and current research shows that only 70 % of the schools in Sweden had regular access to a gym or sports hall at the beginning of the century. Linked to this problem there is no research done whether there are adequate equipment available or not. Therefore, this study aims to examine the premises and equipment, fixed and loose, as PE teachers have at their disposal in teaching and to what extent they have it. This study is based on a web survey that was sent out to PE teachers to fulfill the purpose. The results indicate that the problems with lack of premises is left since all teachers still don’t have access to the premises needed to conduct a fair education. One of the biggest problems is the indoor swimming pool. Concerning the equipment, the results indicate that many PE teachers lack relevant technical equipment. A reflection drawn from this study is that the local assets generally should be improved.

Women and Weights: Lived Experiences of Women Within a Mixed-Gendered Gym

Fisher, Mary James January 2014 (has links)
The gym has the potential to be a valuable resource for adult physical activity. Yet, despite this, the gym environment remains a particularly underdeveloped area of study. Women’s gym experiences in particular is an area of research that needs a greater focus, as currently the literature tends to focus on women’s gym experiences in extreme or isolated contexts. Thus, this research sought to illuminate the female, gendered experience within a traditional, mixed gendered gym context. Through the use of unstructured life story interviews, this research illuminated the dominant gendered expectations that women perceive within the gym space and how these expectations interact with/in women’s gym use. Through this exploration this research also discussed what women perceived could be changed in order to benefit their gendered gym use.

Baborová, Klára January 2020 (has links)
Title: Marketing Research of Customer Satisfaction at CrossFit HomeTown. Methods: For this thesis, a questionnaire has been used as a quantitative method, specifically the SERVQUAL method to assess the level of customer satisfaction. An in- depth interview has been used to obtain information about the gym. Objective: The aim of this thesis is to find out customer satisfaction for CrossFit HomeTown in Prague and recommend possible changes leading to higher customer satisfaction based on the obtained results from the research. Results: The results of the customer satisfaction research for CrossFit HomeTown show, that not all researched areas fulfil the customers' expectations. There were certain limitations in promotional materials -0,44; lectures beginning on time -0,5; willingness to solve problems -0,41 and interest in customer needs -0,55. Total final gap attains a negative degree of -3,18. The first recommendation is to improve promotional practices. Firstly, the gym should improve their website, mobile application and YouTube channel. Second recommendation is to implement a text-message informational system, through which the gym would notify the customers in case the start of their session has been postponed. Thirdly, with willingness to solve problems, the gym should consider doing a...

Stenquist, Pär January 2019 (has links)
Research has shown that gender equality gaps are prominent and experienced when it comes to strength training and gym use. The health benefits of strength training are many, and it is of importance to public health science that any gender inequalities are exterminated so that both men and women can benefit from these. The gym is a common area for practising strength training, but the research done about gender equality from a gym perspective does however seem to be limited, particularly regarding from a gym enterprises point of view. The purpose of this study was hence to explore how different gym enterprises in a medium-sized Swedish city integrated gender equality in their business operation. This was carried out through a total of four individual interviews with a voluntary representative from each different gym. The results displayed five main themes with different aspects, wich all somehow connected to integration of gender equality at the gym. The most characteristic of these themes turned out to be ambiguity, wich could be observed in several of the five main themes and noticed through all four interviews. The conclusions came to be that the gyms did not see gender equality as one of their specific fields of work, and also that gender equality was not something established or recognized by them. They did however work for inclusion and affinity wich could be seen as some kind of contribution to gender equality. It was shown that the gyms did not seem to consciously integrate gender equality in their business operation.

: En kvalitativ intervjustudie om gruppträning och normer sett ur ett genusperspektiv / Group fitness, that’s only something for girls and my mom, right?

Björkenstam, Frida January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this study was to explore which factors might affect participation in group fitness classes from a gender perspective. This was achieved through qualitative interviews with group fitness instructors at a local gym in Sweden. The gender perspectives used in this study are Connell and Pearse’s theory that describes gender as a social construct, and also Yancey Martin’s theory which explains how we act in social contexts and why it is affected by gender norms. The results showed that participation seemed to be affected by the gender norms that Connell and Pearse describes, and especially preconceptions about the concept that is group fitness classes. The preconception assuming that group fitness strictly attracts women seemed to make the barriers for men to attend even higher. Beliefs about masculinity and femininity, and how this was supposed to be practiced in social contexts as Yancey Martin describes it, seemed to provide some kind of security for the participants. In conclusion it can be stated that these where complex matters to seek an answer to, one factor could perhaps be explained by the historical context behind group fitness. Another factor could be how secure the men felt in their perceived masculinity and also how men and women differ in their view of the ideal body type.

ERGON: Utvecklingen av en ergonomisk träningsbänk för ökad funktionalitet / ERGON: The development of an ergonomic weight bench for increased functionality

Boström, Robin January 2023 (has links)
In Sweden, 21.4% of all residents have some type of membership at a training facility. This corresponds to approximately 2 million inhabitants. Within every single training facility there is some type of training bench. The training bench has been a standard in the training industry for a very long time. Despite this, no major development of this product has taken place. The biggest improvement was the introduction of adjustable seats and backrests. Apart from this, the training bench has not changed. This created an interest to investigate potential areas of improvement.  The purpose of this thesis is to explore which exercises are difficult to perform on a training bench, while also looking at other elements that may hinder the user from a good experience and thus develop and update the bench to better fit today's user needs. This includes functions a training bench needs to become more user-friendly, ergonomic and facilitate training. The implementation of this work was a linear, iterative design process. The design process I carried out during this project mainly consisted of four phases. Research, idea generation, prototyping and testing.  The result is the concept "ERGON: The ergonomically adapted training bench" adapted and optimized for ease of use through different features such as adaptive dumbbell racks, shelves for private use and a small slit at head level of the backrest to facilitate the use of hairstyles such as ponytails.

Renström, Anna January 2007 (has links)
This study focuses on leadership within the wellness and fitness context. The aim of this study was to describe and analyse Swedish group fitness instructors' views on training, health and body; and also to understand these views in terms of glocalization -the localisation of global ideas. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with six female instructors working with pre-choreographed group training concepts which originated in New Zealand and have spread through the golbal fitness community. The analysis used a theoretical framework based on Pronger's ideas about ”the technology of physical fitness” (2002). The results suggested that the instructors' views were consistent with the five texts that constitute ”the technology of fysical fitness” and that successful instructors have extensive knowledge of physiology, good communication skills and lively personalities. Overall, the instructors adapted the global pre-choreographed concepts to their local context and in balancing the ”inner” and ”outer” aspects of health they devoted less attention to body form and appearance.

Aktivt åldrande : att styrketräna som pensionär / Active aging : to strength training in old age

Andersson, Mary January 2009 (has links)
<p>The essay is about pensioners who are working out at a gym. My starting point is the research program "Culture of ageing” and the theory that pensioners in the post- and late modern society conquer new potential areas. I am studying the meeting between pensioners and the gym. How the pensioners conquer the gym, relate to their training and what makesthem stay after the first introduction. The essay also touches on how the gym profiles themselves in their marketing and adapt at the equipment and training environment to meet pensioners' needs.</p><p>The essay also touches on how previous research, social norms and pensioner organizations, have influence on decisions and choices about the gym work out of pensioners. Individual discretion against creation of norms and perceptions of a good old age.</p><p>Aging actively is a standard but this standard is in an ongoing negotiation of an ever faster-accelerating process.</p>

A review of gym accessibility for wheelchair users. : A descriptive observational study.

Adler, Therese, Johnsson Koli, Anette January 2012 (has links)
