No. of bitstreams: 1 Marco Aurelio Bernardes.pdf: 718953 bytes, checksum: 3538607b13b69e86987c49049d6674a8 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2009-04-26 / The research deals with the study of the deployment of an incubator of companies in the municipality of Santana de Parnaiba in 2005. Two structured questions to research: What factors or social and economic indicators, as provided for in the National Program Support for Implementation of Business Incubators, is shown as enablers, or not, to choose the type of incubator located in the city? The incubator of Santana de Parnaiba is not configured or as a set of economic and social development? These guiding questions determined the general objective of the study and the specific objectives were to investigate whether or not the application of Technical Feasibility Studies and Economic/SEBRAE; raise the socioeconomic profile of the local enterprise, and identify the profile of companies graded as the generation of jobs. To meet the goals it was decided to conduct the search qualitative descriptive and exploratory in nature. The strategy of participant observation was followed from the field of consulting the diaries and primary and secondary sources, with the reading and consultation of documents and records in the archives of the deployment FIESP. As part of the strategy for data collection was applied, with the world of research, business and executive coordinator of the Program for Incubators FIESP, roadmap semi - structured issues. Data were analyzed by technique of content analysis, following the methodology of the Case Study. Served as a ground conductor to note that the remarkable development of technology provided by the capitalist system, the advancement of production processes and increase productivity in large corporations and were still significantly higher rate occurring in the dynamics of training and qualification of the workforce in countries in development, which is growing unemployment and informality. The recent American crisis in 2008 set the opportunity for better understanding of the concept of incubators and other joint ventures. The research results indicate that all entrepreneurs have received basic information-key marketing and finance. The support of specialized consultants, participation in fairs and developing the business plan during the incubation of enterprises covered expectations of technology spread. The research indicates that technology-based ventures in the incubator resulted not effective support the demands for new processes and new products. That was the answer to the deficit targets for generation of employment in the locality by the three technology-based companies located in the incubator. The results indicate that despite the significant amount of normative content of documents dealing with the prevention of failures of public policies to support the establishment of incubators and entrepreneurship, we could not find evidence of links between economic development and social development and feasibility studies Technical and Economic preceding the establishment of the incubator in the city studied.(AU) / A pesquisa trata do estudo da implantação de uma incubadora de empresas no município de Santana de Parnaíba em 2005.

The support offered to incubated companies was designed to accelerate the implementation of new organizations and make them competitive in the market. Therefore, companies networks inserted in these environments favor the exchange of information and cooperation for use of these resources to the development of new products, thus supporting innovation and business competitiveness. Considering that, the aim of this study was to investigate the social networks and resources of Softnet incubator and their incubated software companies, analyzing the networks, regarding its structure, nodes, connections and flows, and identifing shared resources between companies belonging to Softnet. For this, we interviewed the managers of Softnet incubator and Cubo TI, Onion and NeoInfinito interprises. Our results demonstrated the close relationship between available resources and cooperated social networks, since most available resources drives companies to seek the creation of networks, leading to the perception that cooperation provides benefits that would hardly be achieved in isolation and contributed to the understanding of the organizational environment in which incubated technology-based companies operate and Softnet incubator.

It is an empirical research, in which the interactional movement between the University (Social Incubation) and the enterprises assume that there are conflicts caused by the cultural differences among the participants. These differences are represented by the non-scientific type knowledge derived from the participants’ empirical experience, from the practical and religious activities and working techniques, and by the scientific knowledge produced in the University posted as truth. It is a qualitative study. For the data collection, the participative observation constituted fundamental element. Some data were obtained from informal and semi-structured interviews, besides the documental research that was an opportunity to understand the general context of the cooperative societies and the Social Incubation. In this study, it was conceived that the relation established between the participants is not linear and permanent and it demands that the construction of the knowledge must be done in group. That’s how the knowledge among the cooperators goes through changes, significations and resignifications, caused by the dialogical practice needed. The participants’ experiences, perceptions and beliefs are inherent to the construction of knowledge and human capital. The dialogical process assumes knowledge and symbolic exchanges and it is an assumption to the communicational process among those involved. It was clear that in the process of incubation of the enterprises, there is a complexity that demands considerable efforts from the agents of the Incubator and the cooperators. There were difficulties from both parts that were broken. This way, the context of the Social Incubator enabled to think in the performance of the University through the extension, that is still an activity with little involvement and recognition by professors and students. Besides that, there is also the need to overcome capitalism in which universities are inserted into redirection of production of technology and science focusing in popular interests. This is the aspect in which the political relations are still fragile under this study’s reality.

FOR SUCCESS : A study on an incubator's strengths and weaknesses within the Swedish innovation system

Jallow, Cherno January 2015 (has links)
Idélab is a government financed and non-commercial incubator within Mälardalen University. Their main objective is to give developing support to idea holders and entrepreneurs who have a direct connection to the university. The majority are students that rarely have experience regarding product- and business development. The students need, ambition and knowledge differs when they enter the incubator. Idélab is challenged with adapting their processes to satisfy everyone, and to do so with reasonable resources. Instead of finding out whether or not Idélab can increase the number of successful and growing companies, the dissertation gives the notion that an operational strategy rather be further developed. The organization needs to map out and categorize their users with focus on need and direction. Therefore the recommendation is to redefine the vision and internal as well as external goals. This could help to clarify their own definition of what success and sustainable growth means to their users and themselves.

Podnikatelský inkubátor / Business Incubator

Jeřábek, Martin January 2013 (has links)
In my diploma thesis I designed a new office building in Brno. The building will function as a business incubator, so it will provide space for developing companies for favorable lease terms. While projecting the building I took into consideration future changes in dispositions. Part of the building has a basement and it has one underground and four aboveground floors. The building is designed as monolithic ferroconcrete unit and it has reinforcing perimeter walls with unit core. The ceiling is made of monolithic ferroconcrete panels. The building has flat rooftops, ventilated facade and is based on piles.

Large scale companies and the challenge of being innovative: the integration of external startups / Storskaliga företag och utmaningen att vara innovativa: integrationen av externa uppstart

DUMAS, AUGUSTIN YANN January 2018 (has links)
During the 20th century, Large Scale Companies (LSCs) mindset was all about minimizing risks and maximizing profits. On top of this, they were heavily relying on intellectual property – culture of secret – and they were shaped to exploit rather than to explore. In this context, open innovation brought a completely new approach. As part of the changing landscape, trends of corporate venturing appeared about five years ago. Among LSCs which have chosen to get on the train of innovation, different strategies have been adopted from one company to another. Only today are people witnessing corporate venturing getting more structured. Yet, LSCs have not focused enough just yet on the development of venture structures with external startups. It is essential to understand how to make incubation and acceleration of external startups successful within LSCs. This study adopts LSCs’ perspective and aims at providing them with the best practices that currently exist in the innovation ecosystem in terms of corporate venturing. In particular, this study focuses on how Large Scale Companies (LSCs) can take advantage of external startups through a corporate incubator and/or corporate accelerator in order to become more innovative. The study suggests the venturing process should be divided into three main stages: the identification of the appropriate venture structure and of the right startups, the follow-up of the integrated startups of the corporate venture structure and finally the exit strategy. Building upon the business model canvas and customer value proposition theories, the suggestion is made for LSCs to step backwards and reflect thoroughly about the corporate venture strategy they want to adopt. LSCs should be aware that they evolve as part of a complex venturing ecosystem, and that each tool, rather than being isolated, should embrace and collaborate with the multitude of existing structures.

Hypoxic Incubation Chamber

Helfrich, Simone Lisette, Jones, Makenzie Nicole 01 November 2022 (has links) (PDF)
This paper describes the design, manufacturing, and testing of a novel controllable hypoxic incubator with fully functional oxygen gas control and temperature control in a humid environment. On the current market, a majority of the few hypoxic incubators use pre-mixed gas that does not offer precise control over gas concentration. The objective for this project was to create a chamber that allows the user to set the O2 concentration to varying set points of % O2 while maintaining the chamber at a constant body temperature, CO2 level, humidity, and sterility. To start the project, multiple concepts were developed for the chamber design and the control system. These concepts were compared against developed engineering specs and were evaluated amongst the team and sponsor. From there, a detailed CAD model was developed and utilized to design the structure and was used as a guide for manufacturing. The control system was prototyped on breadboards via Arduino. This breadboard testing served as the map to solder perf boards, which are utilized as the final structure for the control system. Once all parts were sourced, machined, and assembled for the final chamber and the control system, these subassemblies were integrated together with a regulated gas system via various tubing. The integrated final design underwent a variety of testing to validate the incubator design and control system. Testing was performed throughout the course of this project: material testing, gas leak testing, cell test, temperature control test, and gas control system optimization; however, the most important of these tests were those relating to the environmental control of the incubator. These tests confirmed whether the incubator design was functional as a practical incubator. Testing confirmed that O2 and temperature control maintained in spec over a short and long period of time while maintaining a humid environment. CO2 control optimization had more complications than the O2 hypoxia system. During testing CO2 concentration would typically overshoot the set point, likely due to a lack of precise control over the gas flow. CO2 variability was reduced due to optimization in the code, but not fully mitigated. Future iterations of this chamber could improve upon the CO2 control and streamline the user interface.

Study of Added value of incubator to NTBF

Tao Heng Chang Unknown Date (has links)
201 / Abstract Incubator becomes more and more popular and is emphasized in innovation policy in most of the countries. To Nurture New Technological Business Firms (NTBFs), incubators need to provide various services to help the NTBFs to grow up fast and successfully. Incubators in Taiwan weren't created until ITRI first established in Aug. 1996. Most local researches remained on the description of value and operation of incubators. Not much researchs have been persued based on the local experiences. In this study we interview tenants in ITRI and National Taiwan University Chin-Lin incubators and incubator's directors. We try to identify the actual value added that are contributed to the NTBFs from initial stage to final stage. The main conclusions are: 1. NTBFs with parent company supporting, have more balance team and better bussiness networking compared to individual entrepreneur. 2. The needs of NTBFs in different types of entrepreneour team(with or without parant company support) are different in product development stage. 3. The needs of NTBFs market development stage are mainly on management, finance, marketing, next generation product or technology. 4. Incubator's supporting are more directly in company image built up, government R&D subsudy, equipment, R&D cooperation and indirectly in management, finance supporting channel, marketing, next generation product & technology development. 5. Common to all NTBFs , the most significant value added by NTBFs themselves and incubator are technology and team building. 6. Individual entrepreneur, compared to parant company suppot type, have significant capability improvement (by NTBF themselves and incubator ) on marketing and finance. 7. The NTBFs in incubators have the same perception of service effect with incubator managers on "shared services". They have different perception on some of "firm specfic services".
