Sambandet mellan sportslig framgång och ekonomi i svenska elitfotbollsklubbar : En kvantitativ studie av fotbollsklubbar i Allsvenskan åren 2014–2018 med analys utifrån Resursbaserad teori / The connection between sporting success and finances in Swedish elite football clubs : A quantitative study on football clubs in Allsvenskan between the years 2014-2018, an analysis based on Resource Based TheoryLilja, Lukas, Persson, Filip January 2020 (has links)
Nowadays, elite football clubs not only focus on sporting performance, but also place great emphasis on economic development. In most international leagues, it has been shown that there is a connection between the clubs' finances and their sporting success. For football clubs that are engaged in elite activities, there are also financial requirements that must be met. An important aspect to consider is that Swedish football has other specific conditions and rules to relate to versus foreign leagues. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether a number of financial key figures can explain a football team's sporting success. It will also be discussed and explained which resources and key figures tend to be important for sustained sporting success based on a resource-based theory. In the study, a systematic selection was carried out, which led to the study examining the teams that remained in Allsvenskan during the period 2014–2018. This has resulted in 45 observations, with data taken from the club’s annual reports. The study has examined the clubs' financial result, assets and salary costs to understand whether they individually have an impact on sporting success. The study shows a connection between the surveyed clubs' assets and salary costs and the sporting success. The wage cost was the key figure that showed the strongest connection. The result could not show any significant correlation. There is then a discussion about which resources and key figures having a sustained effect on sporting success based on the resource-based theory.

Ungdomars upplevelse av tillgänglighet till idrott i idrottssvaga områden : En kvalitativ studie om ungdomars idrottsdeltagande / Youth experiences of accessibility to sport participation within suburban areas where organized sports are less present : A qualitative study on youth sport participationCarlsson, John, Fredriksson, Ronja January 2020 (has links)
Swedish sports clubs are becoming more concerned with how to attract young people to participate in organized sports. Young people with low socio-economic status and individuals with ethnic background are especially in mind as it has become clear that these individuals are excluded in the various activities of sports clubs. The aim of this study was to examine the possible obstacles for young adolescents to participate in organized sports. By identifying the visible and invisible obstacles through a gender- and socio-cultural perspective the four research questions were examined. The questions concerned within this qualitative study was how accessibility was described by the respondents; how the obstacles to participate in organized sport were experienced by the respondents; how the difference in sport participation was explained by the respondents from a cultural and socio-economic perspective and; how the differences in sport participation were explained by the respondents from a gender perspective. Through six focus groups encompassing 16 individuals between the age of 14–20 years old a Bourdieu approach was applied in order to interpret the content of the responses. The results showed that the youth experienced obstacles to participate in sport in two different ways. One was described as the physical means of being able to get access to sport which was transportation facilities, sports fees and costs for equipment. The other form of obstacle was described as underlying factors such as norms and expectations regarding participation in organized sports and a lack of perceived sense of belonging. Cultural background and gender were discussed as the two most contributing factors as to why some of the youth are not participating in organized sports. Swedish sports clubs should focus on how to include the youth needs into their day-to-day work rather than ensuring their participation in their current offered activities.

Ungdomsidrott och Idrotten vill / Sports for adolescents and the guidelines of Idrotten villMäki, Fredrik January 2021 (has links)
Spontanious sporting has for the last decades reduced and is today not as common as it was before. The effect of this evolution has been that people are much more inactive and the risk for population diseases has increased. This means that the organized sporting has become more important for the public health, especially for adolescents. But for the last years the number of adolescents that drops out from organizational sports between the ages of 16 to 20 years old has been increasing, which is a problem. A document called “Idrotten vill” has because of that problem been made with the content for how the sport movement should be conducted for the different age groups. The aim for this study has been to gain an insight into how five organizational sports clubs in northern Sweden are conducting their sports for adolescents by the guidelines from “Idrotten vill” and what possible differences there may be between organizational sport clubs focused on individual sports and team sports. To get the information needed five interviews was made with five different people from organizational sports, divided in three individual sports and two team sports. The result shows that the organizational sports are conducting their sports for adolescents by the guidelines from “Idrotten vill” with some differences between the individual sports and team sports.

Involvement in Sports and Engagement in Delinquency: An Examination of Hirschi's Social Bond Theory.Hass, Randy 01 December 2001 (has links) (PDF)
Sports have been proposed as a means of reducing participation in delinquency. One criminological theory that would support this hypothesis is Travis Hirschi's social bond theory. The involvement element of that theory proposes that engaging juveniles in non-delinquent activities reduces engagement in delinquency. However, the relationship between sports and delinquency has not been adequately tested. Data from the first wave of the National Youth Survey were examined by ordinary least squares regression to determine if there was evidence supporting school sponsored sports programs as a means of reducing delinquency. No evidence was found to support the research hypothesis. Involvement in sports actually was associated with an increase in some types of delinquency, though the slope of the regression line was very slight. This study was a piece of evidence bringing into question the legitimacy of the involvement element in social bond theory.

EXAMINING THE INCREMENTAL EFFECTS OF PARTICIPANT SPORTING EVENTS IN PROMOTING ACTIVE LIVING: CREATING ACTIONABLE KNOWLEDGE TO TACKLE A PUBLIC HEALTH CRISISDu, Wenjie (James) January 2017 (has links)
Using a theoretical synergy between the Psychological Continuum Model (PCM) and Behavioral Ecological Model (BEM), the current dissertation research provides empirical evidence to support that organized participant sporting events can play a significant role in building a healthier community. First, using a proprietary U.S. community-based panel data from 2008 to 2014, study 1 examines the incremental effects of participant sporting events (PSE) in promoting active living at the population level. Panel regression with an instrumental variable approach and Multigroup Latent Growth Curve Analysis were administered. The key findings included (1) these population-based interventions have the capacity to impact population health at the state level; (2) such an influence significantly varies across the United States contingent upon a state’s economic development and the geographical region to which a state belongs. In study 2, the Multilevel Mediation Analysis was conducted with a spatially clustered cross-sectional data in 2014. The findings revealed that the access to exercise opportunities at the state level represents the underlying mechanism through which various forms of participant sporting events have the ability to elicit positive effects on health with respects to mental health, physical health, and physical activity participation at the county level. The findings suggested that PSEs represent effective public health platform to create healthier communities through integrating physically active leisure into population’s everyday routines. Overall, empirical results also help us better understand the importance of effectively leveraging community sporting events to deliver required health benefits to the general public and create practical guidelines to inform policy formation on resource allocation. / Tourism and Sport

The role of ethical business behaviour awareness in consumer sports supplement purchase intentionsGottsche, Louise Theresia 27 July 2011 (has links)
The gap between ethical purchase intentions and ethical purchase behaviour is well-documented. Although this gap can be bridged by increasing the level of awareness among consumers with regards to ethical business practices, it was found that consumers between the ages of 19 to 56 years were already aware of ethical organisations and business practices in the South African sports supplement industry. They are however unaware of companies that operate unethically. Several factors such as brand familiarity, price and convenience were found to compete with ethical business behaviour during the purchase decision-making process. It is thus recommended that organisations that incorporate ethical business behaviour at a strategic level should provide ethical products that are competitively priced, convenient to use and from a brand that is familiar / Graduate School of Business Leadership / MBA

I Stormens Öga : En kvalitativ studie inspirerad av grundad teori, om väntade förändringar inom elitidrottsföreningar / : A qualitative study inspired by grounded theory, concerning expected change within elite sporting associationsDuvefelt, Hampus, Rosén, Martin January 2016 (has links)
Adapt or die. / Adapt or die. With the world around them constantly evolving, organizations are facing more pressure than ever before to develop the way they look at the process of change. This has led to the phenomena "organizational change" becoming popular amongst organizational researchers. Within this research, the perspective of the employee affected by the change is often referred to as important. One type of change that has remained relatively untouched by this research is expected change, meaning change where the employee is aware that change is coming but without knowledge of when or how these changes will occur. Within the realm of sports a type of organization can be found, the elite sporting association, that is forced to deal with expected change from time to time. This occurs when the sporting associations are relocated within the standardized divisional system found in Sweden, resulting in significant changes to the associations economic conditions. To manage this, these organizations are in a constant state of readiness; ready to, at a moments notice, conduct sweeping changes to its structure solely in response to the associations success within the division. The purpose of this essay is to create an understanding of how employees react to situations of divisional relocation and expected change. To achieve this purpose, the essay used the lack of previous research as a starting point and sought to, by use of the qualitative method Grounded Theory, produce a set of relevant questions on the matter, supported by the data. These questions were produced through four semi-structured interviews on two different elite sporting associations. The results indicated a widespread acceptance of expected change among the elite sporting associations employees. Findings of the study were grounded in the data extracted from participants of the study and was presented in a results model containing a core category and four sub-categories. Through its choice of method this essay provides a fresh take on a situation that could affect many organizations, both within the realm of sports and outside it.

Fysisk aktivitet - ett eget val? : En enkätstudie om vad som påverkar ungdomars fysiska aktivitetKorhonen, Anja, Åberg Zingmark, Ida January 2016 (has links)
Physical inactivity is a growing concern among adolescents, which is the fundamental issue addressed in this study. The purpose of this study was to gain more knowledge about adolescents’ physical activity habits and the factors that influence physical activity. The study was based on a questionnaire consisting of 23 questions. The participants were 149 upper secondary school pupils between 15-19 years old from Östersund who studied both theoretically and practically oriented programs. Based on the World Health Organization [WHO] recommendations on physical activity the adolescents were categorized as active and inactive, and then compared with various background factors that previous research has demonstrated as being important determinants of physical activity. These factors were socioeconomic background, parental influence, sex and ethnicity. The results showed that most active adolescents are also active in sports clubs (p <0.05), has the highest final grade in the subject physical education and health in school year 9 (p <0.05), attends a theoretical program (p <0, 05), has a high educational capital (p <0.05), has a high sporting capital (p <0.05), is more motivated to physical activity (p <0.05) and have more support from their parents (p <0.05). The results was discussed by using the framework suggested by Bourdieu, habitus and capital.
