[en] The present work aims at understanding the social representations of women so-called periguetes. Managing debates on gender, media and deviant individuals, this study seeks to reflect about the role of periguetes within contemporary culture. Furthermore, questions related to body studies, herein taken as social capital, are also discussed. The periguete women are analysed based on their features and representations, which leads us to reflect over an ideal typical model of feminine beauty. Be it based on attitudes, behaviour, gestures or clothing, such women are at once recognised, but also discriminated against. The methodology chosen consisted of literature review in light of theoretical studies from Social Science authors as Erving Goffman, Howard Becker, Mary Douglas, Mirian Goldenberg and Simone Beauvoir, among others. Besides, it was conducted an analysis of periguetes social representations pictured in the media through soap operas characters, and also an analysis on the dynamic of social interactions within common sense speech, through Depth Interviews . To do so, it was heard 24 young adults, male and female, aged 20-29 years-old, residents of Baixada Fluminense and Rio de Janeiro s South Zone.

Sexmissbruk eller diagnosmissbruk? En diskursanalys av begreppet sexmissbruk

JAKOBSSON, ROBERT January 2013 (has links)
Sexmissbruk eller diagnosmissbruk? – En diskursanalys av begreppet sexmissbruk Jakobsson, R.Key words: diagnoses, hypersexuality, medicalization, nymphomania, sexual addiction, sexual behavior, sexual compulsivity, sexual deviation, shame, social construction. Background: Sexual addiction has been given a dominant discoursive power in Sweden which (re)inforces the idea that sexuality is essentially a dangerous and lethal force. Methods: The thesis consists of two sub studies. Firstly, a critical discourse analysis is conducted over scientifical articles of sexual addiction and sexual compulsivity. Secondly, a critical discourse analysis of the concept of sexual addiction in newspapers in Sweden’s largest newspaper, DN, and an evening paper, Aftonbladet. These two sub studies are reflected towards each other to examine the construction and discourses surrounding sexual addiction. Results: The first sub study shows that sexual addiction is a term and concept that lacks empirical data. However, research still speculates that a sex addict can be someone who compulsively consumes any sexual behaviors that deviates from marital sex. The second sub study shows that sexual addiction is a vague concept that could be applied to most people in society; it may include people who masturbate, are unfaithfull, are rapists, perform incest, consume pornography, have difficulties with intimacy and/or have multiple sexual partners. Conclusion: Sexual addiction is a moral concept, which pathologizes people who deviate from erotic normalcy. The media articles presented a vague image of a sex addict that includes a series of sexual behaviors, ranging from masturbation to sex offending. Although research has been conducted for over 30 years, there is no empirical data about what constitutes sexual addiction and what the potential consequences for the individual and society are. In sum, both science and popular discourses presents a potential addiction to diagnoses.Suggested Citation: "Jakobsson. R. Rotorsaksanalys av avvikande ventiler : En fallstudie hos Nordhydraulic AB

Näsholm, Zune January 2023 (has links)
Mobile hydraulic valves are frequently used in heavy industries for material handling, thanks to their high power-to-weight ratio. Functionality is critical in these scenarios as it poses both environmental and safety hazards if not achieved. To ensure functionality, Nordhydraulic performs quality inspections on all valves before they are shipped to customers, utilizing a test bench. Parameters such as leakage and actuation force are among those tested. If a valve fails to meet the requirements, it undergoes rework and is retested, resulting in internal failure costs for Nordhydraulic.  The objective of this thesis was to reduce valve deviations during final testing by identifying the root causes contributing to these deviations, designing a visual monitoring approach for valve deviations, and providing recommendations for improvement measures to reduce valve deviations. This thesis utilized the root cause analysis method proposed by Andersen and Fagerhaug (2014). The results of the thesis revealed that the spool manufacturing process, insufficient data documentation, and work instructions were identified as root causes contributing to valve deviations during final testing. According to the operators, replacing the spool was the most frequent corrective action when a valve failed to meet the requirements. The variation in the spool manufacturing process could not be quantified or estimated satisfactorily, making it difficult to assess whether the components were manufactured within the specified tolerances.  The results also indicated challenges with the documentation of test data in accordance with the specified instructions. This emphasizes the importance of strengthened documentation procedures to ensure completeness in the test database and thereby enhance the monitoring of valve tests. Nordhydraulic is recommended to increase their statistical process control using the framework developed in this thesis. By defining the stability and capability of the spool manufacturing process to produce within the specified tolerances, improvement efforts can be undertaken. The thesis has also designed a dashboard that Nordhydraulic can utilize to visually monitor the final testing process and detect anomalies. In conclusion, this thesis addresses the issue of reducing valve deviations during final testing for Nordhydraulic. The identified root causes, along with the proposed framework and visual monitoring approach, provide valuable insights for Nordhydraulic to enhance their quality control processes, minimize deviations, and ensure high-quality valves for their customers.

Resilient planning, task assignment and control for multi-robot systems against plan-deviation attacks

Yang, Ziqi 30 August 2023 (has links)
The security of multi-robot systems is critical in various applications such as patrol, transportation, and search and rescue operations, where they face threats from adversaries attempting to gain control of the robots. These compromised robots are significant threats as they allow attackers to steer robots towards forbidden areas without being detected, potentially causing harm or compromising the mission. To address this problem, we propose a resilient planning, task assignment, and control framework. The proposed framework builds a multi-robot plan where robots are designed to get close enough to other robots according to a co-observation schedule, in order to mutually check for abnormal behaviors. For the first part of the thesis, we propose an optimal trajectory solver based on the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) to generate multi-agent trajectories that satisfy spatio-temporal requirements introduced by the co-observation schedules. As part of the formulation, we provide a new reachability constraint to guarantee that, despite adversarial movement by the attacker, a compromised robot cannot reach forbidden areas between co-observations without being detected. In the second part of the thesis, to further enhance the system's performance, reliability, and robustness, we propose to deploy multiple robots on each route to form sub-teams. A new cross-trajectory co-observation scheme between sub-teams is introduced that preserves the optimal unsecured trajectories. The new planner ensures that at least one robot in each sub-team sticks to the planned trajectories, while sub-teams can constantly exchange robots during the task introducing additional co-observations that can secure originally unsecured routes. We show that the planning of cross-trajectory co-observations can be transformed into a network flow problem and solved using traditional linear program technique. In the final part of the thesis, we show that the introduction of sub-teams also improves the multi-robot system's robustness to unplanned situations, allowing servicing unplanned online events without breaking the security requirements. This is achieved by a distributed task assignment algorithm based on consensus ADMM which can handle tasks with different priorities. The assignment result and security requirements are formulated as spatio-temporal schedules and guaranteed through control barrier function (CBF) based controls.

Instructions for a Walk Off Line : stanley brouwn’s deviations from the norm as a strategy for arts bureaucracy

Paardenkooper, Rosa Simone January 2023 (has links)
Instructions for a Walk Off Line engages in a reparative reading of Fluxus and Conceptual artworks, with a focus on the practice of stanley brouwn, to outline a set of strategies for contemporary artists to approach the role of bureaucracy in mediating their relationship with art institutions. This research starts from the observation that modern and contemporary art museums are increasingly invested in inviting underrepresented artists into their spaces without engaging in the necessary structural changes to meet their conditions for being included. Bureaucracy is one of those structural elements that maintains and perpetuates certain norms and excludes those who do not have proximity to them. In the approach to Fluxus and Conceptual works, this thesis relies on intermedia and queer theory to analyse how bureaucratic form, language, and function are appropriated and fused with artistic media to expose normative systems, destabilise them, and deviate from them. stanley brouwn’s Aantal stappen of meters in de richting van diverse steden in the collection of Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven is taken as an exemplary case, as brouwn is known to have a specific set of conditions for the display and dissemination of his work. Situating brouwn’s practice in relation to the strategies of appropriation, exposure, destabilisation and deviation, this research proposes his work and conditions as a relational practice of walking off line. The notion of the line, a recurring formal aspect in brouwn’s work, represents the norm that brouwn and his contemporaries deviate from. The museum staff and the audience are invited into this process through different instructions and conditions for the installation of, and engagement with the work. This thesis demonstrates that these instructions are not static but allow for interpretations and invite playfulness. The strategies in this research are offered in the same way; they are not presented as a single way of walking off line but invite a range of possibilities based on the needs and conditions relevant to the context of working with bureaucracy in the arts today.

Kull, Emmelina, Palmén, Victoria January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate how a big construction company in the north region of Sweden manage possible errors that occurs during the production, and how the process of experience transfer can improve.

Andersson, Maria, Sjöström, Jeremy January 2024 (has links)
This study aims to investigate the individual's experience of conscious consumption reduction in relation to society's consumption norms. By not focusing on motives or causes behind the change, but instead illustrating the subjective and social consequences, the study provides a deeper understanding of how the individual's self-perception and social relationships are affected. This will be studied based on the following questions “How does a conscious reduction in consumption affect the individual's self-perception and identity in relation to society's consumption norms?” and “What social and cultural effects do individuals experience when they reduce their consumption on purpose, and how does this affect relationships within the individual's immediate circle?” Previous research has been interested in understanding why individuals change their consumption behaviour. Social resistance from society and the surrounding community has also been a broad area of research. A significant focus has also been to study consumption patterns from a sustainability perspective, where research identifies challenges and how today's society can be treated. This study aims to contribute with an in-depth understanding of how conscious consumption reduction affects the individual's life aspects and relationships, which may have far-reaching implications for our understanding of society's changing consumption patterns. The theoretical framework of the study consists of Emilé Durkheim's social coercion consisting of the normative coercion, the cultural coercion, the material coercion and the structural coercion. In combination with this, Robert K. Merton's social tensions, taken from his strain theory, are also applied. The study is based on qualitative semi-structured interviews, where we study 8 individuals' perceived effects of consumption reductions. The results suggest that a reduction in consumption strengthens the individual's empowerment and promotes self-reflection. Through reduced emphasis on external factors, individuals shape their self-perception beyond materialism. Even though their consumption reduction violates norms, they are met with curiosity. These individuals appear to act as agents of normative change by raising awareness of the impact of consumption and promoting a transformation towards a more sustainable way of living.

Deshpande, Ketan Dhananjay January 2021 (has links)
Hole deviation is one of the most significant problems in drilling applications. Deviated holes result in inefficient blasting and have severe economic impacts due to increased equipment consumption. Conversely, straighter holes help in increasing production scales and reduce operational costs. The reason for hole deviations could range from anisotropic behavior of the rocks being drilled to the behavior of the drill string under the action of imposed forces. Deviations caused due to rock anisotropy are complex in nature and non-controllable to some extent but deviations due to mechanics of drill strings can be controlled as they lie in the operator’s area of influence. In this thesis, a 2D mathematical model is constructed which predicts the bending behavior of the drill rod and the model is further extended to predict the buckled profile of the entire drill string. Two bit state parameters are defined which help in better characterization of hole deviation and understanding of deflected state of the drill bit. Epiroc’s drilling data is inserted in the model developed and the buckled profile of the drill string is studied. The developed model is used to further understand the effect of various drilling parameters like bit thrust, angle of inclination, hole length, etc. on hole deviation. Through the results it was concluded that the bending stiffness of the drill rods is the most critical parameter influencing hole deviation for Epiroc’s drilling data and drill string setup. Finally, potential improvements and techniques to validate results obtained from the mathematical model are proposed.

Evaluation of the validity of IMU sensors measuring wrist angular velocity by comparison with an optical motion tracking system / Utvärdering av validiteten hos IMU-mätningar av handledshastighet genom jämförelse med ett optiskt mätsystem

Tesfaldet, Mogos Tseletu January 2020 (has links)
There is a need for objective methods for wrist angular velocity measurements for accurate risk assessments because there is a high frequency of musculoskeletal disorder in workers. The goal of this project was to validate the accuracy of inertial measurement unit sensors to measure the angular velocity. More specifically, the purpose of this master thesis project was to apply an alternative algorithm to compute the markers velocity, other than the one from the optical system that Jenny Wingqvist, and Josephine Lantz used. The project used an experimental data of 10 participants from the previous project done by Jenny Wingqvist and Josephine Lantz. To validate the accuracy, the data of angular velocity of the sensors was compared with the data of angular velocity of markers. The lowest mean value of the root mean square differences value was 23.5 degrees/s during flexion and deviation standard movements at 40 BPM (Beats Per Minute) and the maximum value was 110.5 degrees/s at 140 BPM. The mean value of the correlation coefficients between markers and sensors angular velocities in standard movements of flexion and deviation were 0.85, 0.88, and 0.89 at 40 BPM, 90 BPM, and 140 BPM, respectively. The smallest and the largest mean value of the absolute difference in 50th percentile was found in 40 BPM (19.4±11.3), and 140 BPM (51.2±28.5) respectively. The decorrelation coefficient between the subjects 50th percentile of the angular velocity was 0.91 for the standard movements. The upper limit of agreement for the standard movements was 78.36 degrees/s, while the lower limit of agreement was -13.76 degrees/s.  The results show that the error was too large, so there is a need of further research to measure the wrist angular velocity using IMU sensors.
