Ela seria uma possibilidade de, na arquitetura, viabilizar projetos que se ordenassem de maneira a não atender um sujeito dos espaços em perspectiva — um sujeito monocular. Este trabalho procura discutir a importância da arquitetura conceitual no discurso da arquitetura e as suas potencialidades de subversão. / [en] The projects and articles of Peter Eisenman — his texts — formulate senses and definitions of what he calls conceptual architecture. Conceptual architecture would enable projects in architecture that wouldn t be imposed by a monocular subject — a subject from a space in perspective. This research discusses the importance of the conceptual architecture in the discourse of architecture: it studies it s potentials and possible subversions.

[pt] Os computadores são normalmente vistos como sinal de modernidade nas escolas. Entretanto, a presença de uma máquina sofisticada não garante que mudanças reais com relação a autonomia e pensamento crítico do educando estejam em curso.Essa pesquisa objetivou a investigação do uso de computadores como ferramentas de ensino, focalizando os padrões discursivos ocorrendo entre professor e alunos. Baseou-se no conhecimento das interações tradicionalmente assimétricas encontradas em situações formais de ensino/aprendizagem, contrastando tal paradigma com dados coletados através de observação sistemática – e posterior transcrição de gravações – de aulas que aconteceram no laboratório de informática de uma escola pública no Rio de Janeiro. A investigação busca momentos em que esse padrão não é seguido, assim mostrando que alguma mudança pode ser vislumbrada. As conclusões parecem indicar que o computador sozinho não determina variações no padrão e o conseqüente avanço na direção de uma maior autonomia na participação do aluno. Porém, a atitude do professor desponta como fator crucial para desencadear as mudanças desejadas. / [en] Computers are often seen as an icon of modernity at schools. Nevertheless, the presence of a sophisticated machine does not guarantee that any real changes regarding students autonomy and critical thinking is going on. This research aimed at investigating the use of computers as teaching tools, focusing on the discursive patterns occurring between teacher and students. It was based upon the knowledge of traditionally asymmetric interactions usually encountered in formal teaching/learning situations, contrasting such paradigm with data collected through systematic observation – and later transcription of recordings - of classes taking place in the computer laboratory of a public school in Rio de Janeiro. The investigation searches for moments in which this pattern changes, thus showing that some real difference is on arrival. The conclusions seem to indicate that the computer alone does not determine variations in the pattern and the consequent advance towards greater autonomy in students participation. However, the teacher s attitude appears to be a crucial factor in triggering the desirable changes.

[pt] A teoria republicana do Estado tradicionalmente destaca a centralidade da virtude inerente ao homem cívico. A presente dissertação investiga o problema da civilidade a partir de uma abordagem que distingue as potencialidades do homem comum. Elabora-se uma concepção de civilidade como competência. O trabalho transcende os limites disciplinares do Direito com o objetivo de (re)construir uma teoria mais compreensiva sobre o tema proposto. Basicamente, dois movimentos teóricos são realizados: de um lado, uma reconstrução da noção de competência humana; de outro, o apontamento das implicações desse marco-teórico para o desenho de uma teoria política alicerçada na idéia de que a civilidade é gerada por um estado mental específico potencialmente presente em todos os homens comuns. Propõe-se, no final, que a civilidade é revelada em processos ordinários de interação social focalizada que demandam o exercício de competências discursivas para a resolução de problemas. / [en] The republican theory of the State traditionally focuses on the centrality of virtue inherent to the civic man. The present dissertation investigates the problem of civility from an approach that distinguishes the potentialities of the common man. It elaborates a concept of civility as competence. The work transcends the disciplinary boundaries of Law with the objective of (re) constructing a more comprehensive theory about the theme proposed. Basically, two theoretical movements are undertaken: on the one side, the reconstruction of the notion of human competence; on the other, the signaling of the implications of this theoretical framework for the design of a political theory based on the idea that civility is generated by a specific mental state potentially present in al common man. It proposes, in the end, that civility is revealed in ordinary processes of focalized social interaction which demand the exercise of discursive competences for the resolution of problems.

[pt] Este trabalho propõe contribuir para a compreensão da cena política brasileira contemporânea e, para tanto, articula Análise da Narrativa de viés sócio-interacional com discurso político visando oferecer uma visão do lingüista sobre o fenômeno da popularidade do presidente Lula. O corpus da análise são narrativas pessoais encaixadas em seis discursos pronunciados pelo presidente entre abril de 2006 e março de 2007. Baseada de modo flexível no modelo de narrativa laboviano e na noção de história de vida de Linde, e recorrendo ainda às noções de enquadre, conforme Bateson e Goffman, e de alinhamento, de Goffman, a análise dos dados identifica as várias identidades que o presidente Lula constrói naquelas narrativas: de migrante nordestino, de operário, de líder sindical, de pai, de presidente. Ao mostrar como essas identidades são narrativamente construídas, a análise ressalta as qualidades de caráter e nuances de sentido projetadas e indica, em relação aos variados públicos dos discursos do presidente, como esses sentidos e identidades podem promover a obtenção de alinhamentos e funcionar como pré-condição para o atingimento do objetivo básico de persuasão que define o discurso político. / [en] This work is intended as a contribution to the understanding of the contemporary Brazilian political scene: it integrates Socio-interactional Narrative Analysis with political discourse aiming to offer a linguist`s perspective on president Lula`s continued popularity. Personal stories embedded in six speeches delivered by the president between April 2006 and March 2007 form the corpus of this analysis. Freely based on Labov`s narrative model and on Linde´s notion of life story, and also resorting to the notion of frame as per Bateson and Goffman, and to Goffman`s footing, the analysis identifies several self- presentations constructed and displayed by president Lula through those personal stories: Northeastern migrant, blue collar worker, union leader, father and president. By showing how these identities are narratively constructed, the analysis emphasizes projected character traits and singularities of meaning and indicates, in relation to the different audiences of the president´s speeches, how these meanings and identities can obtain alignments and function as a pre-condition for achieving persuasion, the basic objective of political discourse in general.

[pt] O estudo analisa processos de categorização da profissão de secretária na entrevista de pesquisa entre a pesquisadora e a gatekeeper (Roberts, 2000) responsável pela seleção, que acessa informações sobre empregador e empregado, compondo o perfil do candidato. O objetivo da pesquisa é identificar as categorias presentes nos dados, sua função, e as formas como as participantes as trouxeram interacionalmente, visto que estas formas compõem os significados discursivos das categorias. A análise, qualitativa interpretativa, adota uma perspectiva micro sócio-interacional. A pesquisadora participa da entrevista, procurando obter uma visão intradiscursiva dos dados. Sobre teoria e análise, estudos de processos de categorização de membros e conhecimento senso-comum (Sacks, 1992; Garfinkel, 1967; Polanyi, 1969) são essenciais para entender as atividades de significação das participantes. Estudos sobre entrevistas de emprego (Silveira, 1998)demonstram a influência interacional do contexto institucional. Igualmente relevantes são pesquisas sobre vozes discursivas (Günthner, 1997) e mapeamento interacional (Sarangi, 2007). Assim, esta pesquisa observa a categorização em seus contextos, formas e vozes. Os resultados da análise revelam que o processo de seleção é influenciado pela categorização. Uma teia de relações entre categorias de membros, atividades, aparência, entre outras, ocorre nos dados. Esta pesquisa pretende contribuir para as teorias da categorização, e para os estudos discursivos sobre as entrevistas e seleções de emprego. / [en] This study analyses categorization processes about the secretary in a research interview between the researcher and the gatekeeper (Roberts, 2000) responsible for selection, who accesses information about employer and employee, building the candidate`s profile. The aim of the research is to identify the categories, as well as their function in the data, and the forms by which the participants interactionally brought them to speech, since they compose categories` discursive meanings. On the analysis, qualitative interpretative, a micro socio-interactional perspective is adopted. The researcher participates on the interview, obtaining an intra-discursive view of data. On theory and analysis, studies about membership categorization processes and about common-sense knowledge (Sacks, 1992; Garfinkel, 1967; Polanyi, 1969) are essential to understand the participants` meaning activities. Studies about job interviews (Silveira, 1998) display the interactional influence of the institutional context. Also relevant are studies about discursive voices (Günthner, 1997) and interactional mapping (Sarangi, 2007). Therefore, this research, observes categorization in its contexts, forms and voices. The analytical results reveal the influence of categorization on the selection process. A web of relationships, between categories of members, activities, appearance and others, takes place during the discourse in the data. This research aims to contribute to the theories of categorization and also to discourse studies about job interviews and selections.

[pt] Em O Delfim, José Cardoso Pires nos leva a uma densa experiência da incerteza. Através de seu narrador, um duvidoso crime é apresentado e, juntamente com este narrador, caminhamos em busca de pistas que possam se encaixar em uma estrutura maior e desvendar o acontecimento. José Cardoso Pires, em um primeiro momento, nos conduz a acreditar que esta narrativa enquadra-se em uma estrutura simples de romance policial. Porém vemos, no desenrolar da trama, que o hipotético crime passa a ter importância secundária no romance e os relatos, os discursos que se sobrepõem, dão a diretriz da obra. Assim, este trabalho tem como proposta investigar a funcionalidade dos diferentes relatos contidos na obra e com isso entender a maleabilidade do conceito de verdade. / [en] In the novel O Delfim, José Cardoso Pires takes us to an uncertain and deep experience. Through his narrator, it is presented a questionable crime and along with this narrator, the reader seeks for clues which can be fit into a greater structure, and uncover what happened. José Cardoso Pires, in a first time, tries to make us believe that this narrative can be placed as a simple police text. Yet, we can see through the development of the text that the hypothetical crime gains a secondary importance in the novel; in contrast, the notes and the discourses which are intertwined are the ones which will provide the sense of direction. This way, this work aims to investigate the function of these different notes in the narrative and understand the flexibility of the concept truth.

[pt] Madame Satã é sem dúvida um dos representantes mais ilustres da malandragem da Lapa boêmia da primeira metade do século XX. Mas o personagem reúne, ainda, traços que o inserem em outras categorias, tais como, negro, homossexual e marginal. Esta tese busca desvendar um complexo processo em que se imbricam a apropriação (e resignificação) simbólica do malandro e a aplicação de estratégias biopolíticas sobre os corpos fora da norma. Os desdobramentos identitários de Madame Satã sugerem também uma potência política a ser explorada. Ao longo dos anos, as interpretações do personagem vão das mais conservadoras às mais transgressoras, deixando entrever, além dos diferentes contextos em que se inserem, os distintos projetos estéticos e políticos delineados. O objetivo principal deste trabalho é analisar o percurso de Madame Satã e promover uma reflexão sobre o poder de instrumentalização do corpo, tendo como horizonte a produção de subjetividades contemporâneas. Além do período em que o personagem se insere, dois momentos específicos são analisados: a década de setenta, quando retornará à cena midiática via uma entrevista concedida ao jornal O Pasquim e publicará uma autobiografia, e o início do século XXI, a partir do lançamento do filme Madame Satã, de Karim Aïnouz. / [en] Madame Satã is no doubt one of the most famous representative of the malandragem from the first half of XX century. But the character includes, indeed, features that insert him into other categories as, black, homosexual and delinquent. This study aims to reveal a complex process that imbricates symbolic appropriation (and re-signification) of the malandro, and the applying of biopolitical strategies over the out of normative bodies. The identity unfoldings of Madame Satã suggests also a political potency to be explored. Over the years, the character interpretations go from the most conservative to the most transgressors, breaking out, besides the different contexts to which they belong, the distinct aesthetical and political projects delineated. The main purpose of this work is to analyse Madame Satã’s course and to promote a reflection about the power of body’s instrumentalization, taking the contemporary subjectivities production as the horizon for reflection. As well as his acting age, two specific moments are analyzed: The seventies, when he was put back on the media scene and published an autobiography, and the XXI century, after the release of the film Madame Satã (2002), by Karim Aïnouz.

[pt] A presente dissertação possui como objetivo principal a compreensão das motivações da Federação Russa na sua atuação na presente crise da Síria. O argumento central é que a Rússia no pós-Guerra Fria, especialmente após Vladimir Putin tornar-se o presidente da Federação, tem sua identidade alterada. Sendo assim, na relação entre a Rússia e o Ocidente o país redescobre no Ocidente o outro , e retoma algumas diretrizes de política externa um tanto quanto sovietizadas. Nesse âmbito, o constante bloqueio de ações ocidentais na atual crise da Síria, não possui raízes apenas de cunho estratégico material. Portanto, a presente pesquisa propõe que a crise Síria e sua interconexão histórica com a antiga URSS e a Rússia contemporânea não se constituem enquanto o principal objeto da política externa russa nesse momento. O intento principal da pesquisa é evidenciar o caráter obscurecido da atuação russa na Síria, durante a crise atual. Pretende-se demonstrar que a atuação russa neste cenário está mais ligada à sua relação com o Ocidente, sua busca por ser uma grande potência, e sua tentativa de reocupar o lugar da URSS, em alguma medida, do que, a priori, com a Síria em si. Para trazer significado teórico à pesquisa, serão operacionalizados conceitos de identidade, interesses nacionais e análise discursiva. / [en] The present dissertation has as its main goal understanding the motivation of the Russian Federation in the current Syrian crisis. The central argument is that Russia in the post-Cold War, especially after Vladimir Putin became President of the Federation, change its identity. In this way, in the relation between Russia and the West the country is rediscovering the West as the other , and has retained some Soviet-inspired foreign policy guidelines. In this context, the continuing blockade of Western actions in the current crisis in Syria has roots that are not only of a material strategic nature. This thesis proposes that the Syrian crisis and its historical interconnection with the former USSR and contemporary Russia do not constitute the primary object of Russian foreign policy at this time. The main purpose of the research is to show the obscured character the Russian action in Syria, during the current crisis. The next task is to demonstrate that Russian action in this scenario is more related to their relationship with the West, to its search to become a great power, and its attempt to reoccupy the place of the USSR, to some extent, than to Syria itself. To bring theoretical meaning to the research, will be operationalized concepts of identity, national interests and discursive analysis.

[pt] A dissertação busca compreender como sujeitos (auto)denominados ex- viciados criam inteligibilidade sobre eles próprios e o mundo ao relatarem suas histórias de vida (re)significando experiências passadas, (re)desenhando o presente e o futuro e abandonando, fabricando e reivindicando identidades e pertencimento a grupos sociais. Com o propósito de atingir estes objetivos, lanço mão da Análise de Narrativa enquanto ferramenta teórico-metodológica de estudo, visto que o interesse da pesquisa é focado na compreensão do que fazemos ao narrar, ou seja, o caráter performativo da linguagem. Os dados selecionados para análise são narrativas testemunhais vinculadas a um programa televisionado da Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus chamado Vício Tem Cura, que apresenta sujeitos que atingiram a cura para o vício através da fé, por intermédio das igrejas iurdianas. Frente a esse recorte, são observados os alinhamentos discursivos que entram em jogo ao longo das interações, pautando consensos que se atrelam às substâncias e ao seu consumo, que difundem normas e desvios ao passo que promovem cisões identitárias em e entre sujeitos e grupos sociais. Além disso, o trabalho visa verificar se há algum padrão estrutural nas narrativas analisadas, uma vez que não são prototípicas. Por fim, conclui-se que o discurso que permeia as igrejas iurdianas gera narrativas de superação do uso de substâncias que limitam a compreensão do uso de substâncias a uma mesma história, o que cria uma identidade homogênea e marginalizada — como se fosse possível, nos tempos atuais, performarmos todos um mesmo self —, ratificando e propagando preconceitos e estereótipos. / [en] This dissertation pursues the understanding of how self-appointed former addicts create intelligibility about themselves and the world by telling their life stories (re)signifying past experiences, (re)designing present and future and abandoning, manufacturing and claiming identities and belonging to social groups. Seeking to reach these objectives, the chosen theoretical-methodological tool is Narrative Analysis, since this research s interest is focused on the comprehension of what we do as we narrate, that is, the performative character of language. The selected data to be analyzed are testimonial narratives articulated to a television program from Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (Universal Church of the Kingdom of God), called Vício Tem Cura (There s a cure for addiction, in a free translation). This program portrays people who have reached a recovery from addiction through faith, by the mediation of UCKG churches. Based in this sample, I observe the discursive alignments that come into play throughout the interactions, underscoring the consensus linked to substances and their consumption, that disseminates their norms and deviations while promoting split identities in and among subjects and social groups. Furthermore, this investigation aims to verify whether there are any structural patterns in the analyzed narratives, since they are not prototypical. Finally, I conclude that the discourse which permeates UCKG churches promotes narratives of overcoming substances use that limits the understanding of substances consumption to the same story, which creates a homogeneous and marginalized identity — as if it were possible, in current times, for us all to perform the same self — ratifying and propagating prejudices and stereotypes.

[pt] Esta tese buscou levantar como os futuros designers compreendem/percebem o design na contemporaneidade e qual(is) a(s) possível(is) identidade(s) do design no Brasil. Objetivou-se estabelecer um panorama sobre quais as percepções dos formandos sobre o que é design, quais as principais “personagens” que os inspiram e o que esperam de sua atuação no futuro. Para tal, foram alcançados os seguintes objetivos específicos: caracterizar o design na contemporaneidade; levantar conceitos de design; levantar as influências estrangeiras na formação em Design no Brasil; identificar, no discurso dos futuros designers brasileiros, as percepções sobre conceitos de design, influências e perspectivas de atuação; refletir sobre a(s) identidade(s) do design no Brasil. A partir dos discursos dos alunos e de suas referências teóricas, foi possível perceber que a compreensão do design no Brasil é influenciada por países que são referências em design, majoritariamente os Estados Unidos, o que compromete a constituição de uma identidade nacional e/ou identidades regionais. Atualmente, poucos estudos têm abordado as características e compreensões do formando sobre sua profissão. Com esta pesquisa, estabeleceu-se um panorama sobre as percepções do aluno acerca de conceitos, influências e perspectivas de atuação, que contribuiu para a reflexão sobre a(s) identidade(s) do design no Brasil. Constituiu-se um percurso metodológico pautado em uma pesquisa exploratória/explicativa e qualitativa/quantitativa, com as seguintes grandes etapas: pesquisa bibliográfica e documental; piloto da pesquisa; estudo de caso em território nacional; e reflexões sobre a(s) identidade(s) do design no Brasil. / [en] This thesis researched how future designers understand design in contemporaneity. From students discourse and their theoretical references, it was possible identify that the understanding of design in Brazil it s influenced by references countries in design, which compromises the constitutions of a national identity and/or regional identities. We had as objective establish a viewpoint about graduation students perceptions about what is design, most important characters that inspires them, and future performance. For that, it was accomplished the following specific objectives: characterize design in contemporaneity; bring up design concepts; raise the foreign influences in the Brazilian Design formation; identify in future designer s discourse, the perceptions about concepts of design, influences and perspectives of performance; think over identity (identities) of design in Brazil. Presently, there are few studies addressing to characteristics and comprehensions of future designers about their profession. With this research, it was possible to establish a viewpoint about student s perception of concepts, influences and perspectives of performance, which contributes to the discussion about identities of design in Brazil. The methodological course was lined as an exploratory/explanatory e qualitative/quantitative research, with the following steps: bibliographic and documental research; pre-test research; case study in national territory; and reflections about identities of design in Brazil.
