[pt] Esta tese trata da apresentação de uma ideia de vida nos escritos de juventude de Walter Benjamin. Esse período do pensamento do autor é reconhecido pelos seus críticos como sendo o de uma metafísica da juventude e liga-se a um conjunto complexo de influências. Nesse contexto, essa pesquisa ressalta o diálogo intermitente do autor com as diversas manifestações das chamadas filosofias da vida. Esse diálogo foi pouco estudado pelos pesquisadores de sua obra, mas torna-se indispensável para a compreensão mais adequada das consagradas teorias do filósofo relacionadas à linguagem e à política. Destaca-se como procedimento de pesquisa a leitura profunda dos escritos do pensador para a retirada de elementos que sirvam à construção de uma constelação de conceitos ligados à ideia de vida. Assim, este trabalho se inicia com a avaliação das discussões de Benjamin sobre a vida dos estudantes no contexto de reforma da vida na Alemanha do início do século XX e tenta compreender a relação da vida com a noção de tarefa infinita. Na sequência, a pesquisa dedica-se aos trabalhos do autor que versam sobre crítica literária e teoria da tradução para avaliar o modo como a vida, em sua relação com a linguagem, pode ser compreendida como forma. Essa tarefa serve igualmente para a avaliação da perspectiva do autor de defesa da sobrevivência da vida na história. Em seu último capítulo, este estudo trata das excêntricas leituras de Benjamin sobre a relação entre o problema psicofísico e a compreensão da política, na qual vigoraria a ligação recíproca entre história e vida. É nessa direção que se situa a crítica de Benjamin ao poder sobre a mera vida e à definição mítica desta como o paradigma para toda a vida. / [en] This thesis presents an idea of life in the youthful writings of Walter Benjamin. This period of the author s thinking is acknowledged by his critics as of a metaphysics of youth and it is connected to a complex set of influences. In this context, this research highlights the author s intermittent dialog with the various manifestations of the so-called philosophies of life. This dialog has been little studied by researchers of his work, but it is essential for a more appropriate understanding of the philosopher s acclaimed theories related to language and to politics. The deep reading of the thinker s writings stands out as a research procedure for taking out elements that can be suited for building a constellation of concepts connected to the idea of life. Therefore, this work begins with the analysis of Benjamin s discussions over the students life in the context of life reformation in Germany in the beginning of the 20th century and tries to apprehend the association of life with the notion of endless task. Subsequently, the research approaches the author s works that discuss literary criticism and translation theory in order to evaluate how life, in its relationship with language, can be understood as a form. This task is also suited for the evaluation of the author s perspective regarding the preservation of a survival of life in history. In its final chapter, this study deals with Benjamin s eccentric readings on the relationship between the psychophysical problem and the comprehension of politics, in which the reciprocal bond between history and life would prevail. It is established in this direction Benjamin s criticism to power over mere life and to its mythical definition as a paradigm to whole life. / [fr] Cette thèse porte sur la présentation d une idée de vie dans les écrits de jeunesse de Walter Benjamin. Cette période de la pensée de l auteur est reconnue par ses critiques comme celle d une métaphysique de la jeunesse et se lie à un ensemble complexe d influences. Dans ce contexte, cette étude met en évidence le dialogue intermittent de l auteur avec les diverses manifestations des soi disant philosophies de vie. Ce dialogue a été peu étudié par les chercheurs de son travail, mais il est essentiel pour la compréhension la plus appropriée des théories consacrées du philosophe liées au langage et à la politique. On distingue comme procédure de recherche la lecture approfondie des écrits du penseur afin d enlever des éléments qui servent à construire une constellation de concepts liés à l idée de vie. Ce travail commence par l évaluation des discussions de Benjamin sur la vie des étudiants dans le cadre de la réforme de vie en Allemagne au début du XXe siècle et cherche à comprendre la relation entre la vie et la notion de tâche infinie. En outre, la recherche est consacrée aux oeuvres de l auteur s agissant de la critique littéraire et de la théorie de traduction pour évaluer la façon dont la vie, dans sa relation avec le langage, peut être comprise comme forme. Ce travail sert également à l évaluation de la perspective de l auteur de protection de la survie de la vie dans l histoire. À la fin, cette étude porte sur les lectures excentriques de Benjamin sur la relation entre le problème psychophysique et la compréhension de la politique, dans laquelle le lien réciproque entre l histoire et la vie se ferait valoir. Et c est dans cette direction que l on place la critique de Benjamin au pouvoir sur la simple vie et à la critique de la définition mythique de celle-ci comme le paradigme pour toute la vie.

[pt] A presente dissertação parte de um estudo de caso para pensar questões mais amplas acerca da História do Design e da História Brasileira. A partir do último quartel do século XIX (do Segundo Reinado até a proclamação da República) quem desejasse registrar e assegurar a exclusividade de sua marca comercial deveria depositá-la nas Juntas Comerciais espalhadas pelo território nacional. Na Corte foi-se formando uma coleção de rótulos impressos em litografia que continham os mais diversos textos, imagens, propósitos, procedências e compromissos. Quando o registro de marcas pela Junta cessou com o advento da República, os livros- registro foram arquivados e posteriormente adquiridos pelo Arquivo Nacional como exemplares da cultura material oitocentista. Apesar de ser fonte rica para diversos estudos históricos, principalmente os interessados em imagem e comunicação visual, a coleção de rótulos esteve por mais de cem anos esquecida e mantida inativa como agente social. Um recorte temático foi imposto sobre os quase mil rótulos encontrados. Foram selecionados para análise gráfica aqueles exemplares que traziam a imagem do indígena (19 no total) e problematizados à luz da questões da identidade nacional e modernidade discutidas no século XIX. Através dos esforços da presente pesquisa procuramos não apenas recuperar parte da nossa cultura material como apontar novas propostas de entendimento e de narrativa para nossa própria história hoje em dia. / [en] The present research begins as a case study to re-think wider subjects concerning Design History and Brazilian History. For the last twenty-five years of nineteenth century (from the Second Reign to the Republic) the one who wanted to register and reassure the exclusivity of his commercial mark should deposit one sample in any Commercial Board established on national territory. In the Court, the gathering of the lithographic labelssample assembled also a vast sort of texts, images, purposes, origins and commitments. When this process finished with the Republic, the registry- books were filed and lately absorbed by the National Archive as components of the nineteenth century material culture. Although it being a rich source for multiple historical studies, especially those regarded with images and visual communication, the collection of labels was for more than a hundred years forgotten and kept inactive as a social agent. One thematic focus was laid over the almost thousand found labels. Were separate for graphic analysis those who carried the image of the Brazilian native (19 in total). They were analyzed concerning the debate around national identity and modernity taken throughout the nineteenth century. Through the efforts of this research we tried not only to recuperate part of our material culture but also to point out new forms of understanding and reporting to our own history nowadays.

[pt] Componentes estruturais de usinas térmicas para geração de energia sofrem transientes térmicos durante a operação da planta devido a partidas e paradas, variações de potência requerida e ocorrências causadas por anomalias. Estes transientes térmicos geram distribuições de temperaturas não uniformes ao longo da espessura dos componentes e, consequentemente, geram tensões térmicas. As variações destas tensões ao longo do tempo podem causar fadiga nos pontos mais solicitados destes componentes. A análise de fadiga para um ponto crítico do componente fornece o dano acumulado por meio do fator acumulado de dano ou CUF. O cálculo do CUF é feito baseado no conhecimento das histórias de tensões e deformações que ocorrem nos pontos críticos, no uso de modelos de geração de dano ciclo a ciclo e no uso de algoritmos para contagem de ciclos. Esta dissertação apresenta e discute modelos de dano a fadiga e suas associações aos modelos de contagem de ciclos existentes que são possíveis de serem aplicadas a componentes de usinas térmicas. Uma seleção de combinações entre modelos de dano e métodos de contagem foram utilizadas em dois exemplos nomeados estudos de caso. / [en] Structural components of power plants are subjected to thermal transients during their operational life. These thermal transients generate unequal temperature distributions across the components wall thickness, causing severe thermal stresses. The repetition of the thermal transients and, consequently, repetition of stress and strain variations are responsible for fatigue damage of the structural components. In such cases, fatigue damage is assessed by calculating the cumulative usage factor or CUF. CUF calculations are based on the stresses and strains histories, on experimental fatigue curves and fatigue damage models, and on algorithms used to determine the number of cycles a given stress or strain range occurs during the life period considered. This thesis presents and discusses fatigue damage models and their association with existing cycle counting models that are applicable to power plant components. A selection of combinations of damage and cycle-counting models was used in two case study examples.

[pt] Este trabalho tem por objetivo refletir acerca de que forma a idéia ou o conceito de legalidade transitou pelo ambiente político do período da experiência democrática brasileira do Pós-II Guerra Mundial. Naquele momento, estar ao lado da legalidade se constituiu em um elemento fundamental do discurso de grupos políticos diversos e com propostas e soluções opostas. No período posterior ao suicídio do presidente Getúlio Vargas, particularmente durante os episódios da intervenção político-militar de novembro de 1955, da crise da renúncia de Jânio Quadros e solução parlamentarista de 1961 e do golpe de 1964, as discussões em torno da legalidade assumiram o primeiro plano. Desta forma, a conquista do argumento da legalidade, para além das conspirações, ameaças e repressões, mostrou-se primordial para o desfecho dos acontecimentos. Este trabalho busca, através da análise dos usos, significados e interpretações expressos pelos editoriais dos jornais Correio da Manhã, Diário de Notícias, Tribuna da Imprensa e Última Hora, da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, afirmar que a necessidade de se manter o país sob a proteção da legalidade norteou a ação dos formadores de opinião da sociedade brasileira, fossem eles militares ou civis. Qualquer ação que não procurasse se sustentar sob o guarda-chuva da legalidade enfrentaria fortes resistências nos mais diversos setores da sociedade. Esta, mesmo sofrendo ressiginificações, se manteve sempre presente no discurso dos atores políticos envolvidos nestes episódios. / [en] This work has the objective to reflect about the ways that the idea or the concept of legality transited by the political environment of Brazilian democratic experience during the period Post-II World War. In that moment, being on the legality side constituted in a fundamental element in the speeches from a diversity of political groups and with opposite proposals and solutions. In the period after the suicide of president Getúlio Vargas, particularly during the episodes of the political-military intervention in November of 1955, the crisis of Jânio Quadros resignation and the parliamentary solution of 1961, and the coup of 1964, the discussions about legality became a priority. This way, the use of the legality argument, beyond the conspirations, threats and repressions, was shown primordial to the happenings outcome. This work seeks, throughout the analysis of the uses, meanings and interpretations expressed by editorials from the newspapers Correio da Manhã, Diário de Notícias, Tribuna da Imprensa e Última Hora, from the city of Rio de Janeiro, to affirm that the need to maintain the country under the protection of legality guided the actions of opinion formers from Brazilian society, military and civil. Any action that wasn t supported by the protection of legality would face strong resistance in the most diverse sectors of society. The concept of legality went through re-significations, but was always present in the speech of political actors involved in these episodes.

[pt] Desde o momento em que Cristóvão Colombo colocou seus pés pela primeira vez nas Américas, o espectro da violência privada no mar esteve por perto, fosse ela empreendida pelas mãos dos próprios espanhóis, fosse por aqueles que disputavam com eles o direito de explorar as riquezas recém-descobertas. Nesta tese argumentamos que os relatos de navegação deixados por corsários, piratas e bucaneiros nos séculos XVII e XVII foram parte fundamental para a criação do imaginário europeu acerca do Novo Mundo e de seus habitantes. Procuramos explorar uma diversidade de relatos que, cada qual à seu modo, representaram os dilemas políticos que vieram a desembocar na criação do Estado e do sujeito político modernos. Este processo, contudo, não foi linear, como em uma escala de progresso em direção à civilidade. Pelo contrário, a leitura dos relatos de navegação nos revela uma experiência diversa e frequentemente contraditória. O escopo desta tese abarca os séculos XVI e XVII. Neste período as instituições sociais herdadas da idade média tardia que ordenaram a relação entre indivíduos e sociedade estavam em franco declínio, processo este que somente se aprofundou com a reimaginação da geografia planetária após os descobrimentos. Argumentamos nesta tese que a figura do pirata foi um ator central nesta reimaginação do mundo a partir de suas margens, de suas áreas limítrofes. Ao longo do trabalho, abordamos os relatos de André Thevet e Jean de Léry, Francis Drake, Anthony Knivet, Alexander Exquemeling e, por fim, o romance Rosbinson Crusoé, de Daniel Defoe. Cada um destes trabalhos trouxe algo de novo para a complexa equação que teve lugar nos dois séculos em questão. / [en] Since when Christopher Columbus first came into the Americas, the specter of private violence stood nearby. This thesis argues that the accounts of navigations left by the privateers, pirates and buccaneers of the XVI and XVII centuries were crucial parts for the making of the European imaginary about the New World, its inhabitants, and the European place in it. We explore the diversity of accounts that, each in its own way, represents the political dilemmas that came to a close at the Modern Estate and the Modern political subjects. This process, thought, should not be represented as an unambiguous tale of progressive civilization. On the contrary, the reading of the accounts of navigation reveals a much more ambiguous and frequently contradictory experience. The scope of this thesis encompass the XVI and XVII centuries. During this time, the late medieval social and political institutions that mediated the relations between society and individuals were at a steady decline. The discoveries made by the Spanish and the Portuguese and the following re-imagination of global geography only aggravated the problem, and from the ashes of the late medieval system modernity arose. We argue that the pirate figure was a central actor in this process acting from the margins. During this thesis we explore the accounts of Andre Thevet and Jean de Léry, Francis drake, Anthony Knivet, Alexander Exquemeling and the novel Robinson Crusoé, from Daniel Defoe. Each one of these accounts brought something new to the complex operations that were taking place in those transitional centuries.

[pt] O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a contribuição dos impressos pedagógicos como instrumentos de legitimação institucional na área de educação. Especificamente, neste estudo, examinar o papel da Revista Brasileira de Estudos Pedagógicos, da Revista Educação e Ciências Sociais e do Boletim Mensal do Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Educacionais na tentativa de legitimação do Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Educacionais (CBPE) no âmbito do Ministério da Educação Cultura (MEC) e sob o comando do Instituto Nacional de Estudos Pedagógicos (INEP) no período de 1952 a 1964. Parto do pressuposto que foi colocada em jogo uma rede de impressos para tal processo de legitimação que possibilitou o acionamento de três estratégias para a consubstanciação deste projeto: a estratégia de articulação, por serem os impressos veículos de informação de uma instituição que almejou o máximo envolvimento de todos os atores; a estratégia de intervenção, haja vista a possibilidade de pensar os impressos enquanto vozes oficiais da instituição que buscou organizar a sua representação institucional nos planos internacional, nacional e regional e, por fim, a estratégia de legitimação em que os impressos são escrituras que buscaram imprimir e erigir a memória de um determinado grupo de poder como hegemônica e paradigmática no campo educacional e, no caso do CBPE, também no campo das Ciências Sociais. Deste modo, insere-se esta pesquisa no bojo da história cultural e da história política e procura estabelecer possibilidades de compreensão do período em tela para a historiografia da educação brasileira, lançando luzes nas trincheiras da guerra pelo controle da educação nacional que aparece como espaço privilegiado nas páginas dos impressos da rede montada pelo Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Educacionais sob a direção de Anísio Teixeira e seus colaboradores. / [en] The purpose of this paper was to analyze the contribution of pedagogical printed matters as tools of institutional legitimacy in the field of education. More specifically, this study aims to examine the role of Revista Brasileira de Estudos Pedagógicos (Brazilian Magazine of Pedagogical Studies), Revista Educação e Ciências Sociais (Education and Social Science Magazine) and the Boletim Mensal do Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Educacionais (Monthly Bulletin of the Educational Research Brazilian Center) in the attempt to legitimate CBPE - the Educational Research Brazilian Center- within the scope of MEC- the Ministry of Education and Culture- and under the control of INEP- Instituto Nacional de Estudos Pedagógicos (National Institute of Pedagogical Studies) from 1952 to 1964. I assume that a network of printed matter was created for the legitimation process, which enabled the activation of three strategies for the consubstantiation of the project: the articulation strategy, for the printed matters are means of information of an institution that has always aspired to achieve the total engagement of all actors; the intervention strategy, since there is a possibility of considering the printed matters as the official voice of the institution that strove to organize its institutional representation in the international, national and regional spheres; and, finally, the legitimation strategy, in which the printed matter sought to print and build up the memory of a certain power group as hegemonic and paradigmatic in the field of education, and, as far as CBPE is concerned, in the field of Social Sciences, as well. Therefore, this research is set into the core of the political and cultural history, and it attempts to create possibilities of understanding the period in question for the Brazilian education historiography, enlightening the trenches in the fight for the control of the national education, which holds a privileged space on the pages of the printed matter of the network built up by the Educational Research Brazilian Center, directed by Anísio Teixeira and his collaborators.

[pt] A presente tese tem por objetivo geral fornecer à luz de metodologias de Design em Situações de Ensino-Aprendizagem, o uso de recursos inclusivos para o desenvolvimento de narrativas digitais bilíngues para crianças surdas, de forma participativa. Aborda questões históricas acerca do oralismo e gestualismo, como a aquisição da linguagem na mais tenra idade é fundamental para o desenvolvimento cognitivo infantil e as dificuldades encontradas no ensino simultâneo da Língua Brasileira de Sinais, a LIBRAS e do português escrito. Apresenta uma reflexão sobre como a tecnologia pode ser usada como mediadora para a aprendizagem de conteúdos socioculturais, assim como o desenvolvimento de habilidades sensório-motoras e cognitivas no processo de crescimento da criança. Desenvolve-se como um estudo de caso com a criação de uma história interativa digital bilíngue, concebida e desenvolvida pela equipe do Laboratório Interdisciplinar Design/Educação, do Departamento de Artes e Design, da PUC-Rio (LIDE | DAD | PUC-Rio), contemplada pela Chamada Universal 14/2013 - CNPq, que tem as etapas para a sua construção descritas. Ao final, disponibiliza orientações para a construção de narrativas interativas digitais com os objetivos acima descritos, a fim de fomentar o campo do Design em Parceria com a Educação, ampliando o alcance de projetos desta natureza para este público. / [en] The goal of this research is to provide, based on methodologies of Design in Teaching-Learning Situations, the use of inclusive resources for the development of bilingual digital narratives for hearing-impaired children, in a participatory way. It will address historical questions about oralism and gesturalism, how the acquisition of language at an early age is fundamental for children s cognitive development and the difficulties to simultaneous teaching of the Brazilian Sign Language, LIBRAS and written Portuguese. It presents a reflection about how the technology can be used as mediator for the learning of socio-cultural contents, as well as the development of sensory-motor and cognitive abilities in the process of the child s growth. And we will design a bilingual digital interactive story, conceived and developed by the team of the Interdisciplinary Design / Education Laboratory, Department of Arts and Design, PUC-Rio (LIDE | DAD | PUC-Rio), contemplated by the Universal Call 14/2013 - CNPq, and the steps will described. At the end, it provides guidelines for the construction of interactive digital narratives with the objectives described above, in order to foster the field of Design in Partnership with Education, expanding the reach of projects of this nature for this public.

[pt] Com este trabalho, pretende-se estudar e confrontar os pressupostos antropológicos e teológicos de duas diferentes concepções de economia: os da economia atualmente preponderante, calcada no individualismo e no utilitarismo e os de um novo modelo econômico recente e bem menos conhecido, de raízes cristãs, a Economia de Comunhão (EdC). Paradoxalmente, a EdC é ainda pouco conhecida em meio católico e assim esta dissertação toma também para si a tarefa de contribuir para um seu melhor entendimento. Estamos muito distantes de conceber a EdC como um novo modo de agir econômico, uma nova forma de gestão empresarial ou de economia solidária, buscando mostrar, isto sim, que a EdC é sobretudo uma opção antropológica e espiritual que transborda estes territórios, desembocando na prática empresarial e deitando suas raízes em uma específica concepção do ser humano. O trabalho inclui uma descrição da própria EdC, suas origens, características e implicações teológicas, sua história e pré história, sua identidade e missão, bem como as visões críticas a seu respeito. Como parte indispensável, a dimensão propriamente antropológico-teológica da EdC e a concepção típica da antropologia teológica cristã em geral serão estudadas e comparadas. / [en] The aim of this work is to study and confrontate the anthropological and theological bases of two different concepts of economy: that currently practicized, based on individualism e and utilitarianism and another one, based on a quite recent and less known model, the Christian rooted Economy of Communion (EoC). It may sound as a contradiction, but the EoC remains a less known phemomenon among catholics, e so this dissertation assumes as its task do contribute to a better understanding of EoC. We are very far from concepting EoC as a new way of economical action, a new form of managegment or of solidary economy. On the contrary, we try to show that EoC is above all an anthropological and spiritual option that overflows such fields, in the direction of manamagent practice – and having its roots in a specifical conception of the human being. Our work includes a description of EoC itself, its origens, characteristics and theological implications, its history and a e pré-history, its identity and missão, as well as the critical points of view against her. As a mandatory part of our study, the properly anthropological and theological dimensions of EoC and the typical conception of Christian theology in general will be studied and compared.

[pt] A pesquisa parte do princípio de que as histórias em quadrinhos constituem um importante meio de entretenimento e comunicação. Em decorrência da característica de mesclar imagem e texto como nenhuma outra forma de arte, se desenvolveram em um nicho próprio. Considera-se que a linguagem das HQs evolui a partir da estrutura de códice com seu sistema de páginas. Detentora de uma linguagem visual própria percebe-se na contemporaneidade, transformações com o advento das tecnologias. Atualmente, podem ser lidas em dispositivos móveis agregando incrementos ao se aproximar de outras mídias. Diante deste novo paradigma digital atinge nível de mobilidade que o computador pessoal não permitia, propondo um novo nicho de expressão e produção artística. Com foco na fruição e leitura em plataformas digitais, a pesquisa traça um panorama dos principais aplicativos de distribuição e leitura enquanto analisa títulos e narrativas específicas. Também aborda a evolução da linguagem visual das histórias em quadrinhos, contemplando a transposição para o mundo digital na internet e aspectos relacionados com a adaptação para os dispositivos móveis. / [en] This research is based on the principle that comics represent an important form of entertainment and communication. Due to its capability to combine image and text like no other art form, it establishes itself as a unique means of expression. We could determine that its configuraton originates from pages of a códex structure. Since it holds its own specific visual language. Nowadays comics can be read on mobile devices more elements in connection with other media. On account of these new digital paradigms comics reach a mobility level that the personal computer alone coudn t offer, opening up new áreas of expression and artistic creativity. Considering its utilization in digital platforms, this study presents a outline of the main applications in its circulation and reading, trying at the same time to analyze titles and specific characteristics. It also covers the evolution of the visual language in comics, including its transposition to the digital world of the interner as well as other aspects related to the adaptation to the mobile devices.

[pt] Durante um longo período o tema da afetividade esteve fora do discurso religioso. Este discurso religioso tendeu mais para a matiz da tradição grega, dando preferência para o discurso da razão na teologia. Contudo, a tradição cristã é formada pelo entrecruzamento de duas grandes Tradições religioso-culturais: a referida Tradição grega, baseada no discurso racional; e a Tradição semita, baseada na antropologia do coração, onde o conhecimento é visto como sabedoria e amor. Isso indica que, por detrás do componente afetivo existe uma real possibilidade de se conhecer, experienciar e, conseqüentemente, amar a Deus. A estrutura afetiva do ser humano torna-se, assim, em virtude de constituir-se basicamente como estrutura de acolhida, a maneira mais legítima de acolher a Deus. A afetividade humana garante, então, que toda a experiência de Deus seja uma experiência amorosa que revela ao ser humano sua verdade mais profunda: o ser humano é um ser em relação com seu Deus Criador e Salvador. A afetividade possibilita, assim, a apropriação da parte do ser humano da graça redentora que Deus lhe comunica numa relação sempre salutar. Jesus Cristo - o dom do Pai à humanidade - realiza em sua pessoa a salvação que Deus quer comunicar ao ser humano. A salvação consiste na participação do ser humano na vida divina mediante a ação do Espírito Santo que co- naturaliza o ser humano com Deus. / [en] During a long time, the theme of affection was outside of religious discourse. This religious discourse tended more to the shade of Greek tradition, giving preference to the discourse of reason in teology. However, the Christian tradition is formed by the intersections of two big cultural religious Traditions: the so called Greek Tradition, based on rational discourse; and the Semitic Tradition, based on antropology of heart, where knowledge is seen by wisdom and love. It signals that, behind the affectionate component, there is a real possibility of knowing oneself, experiencing and, consequentely, loving God.
