Malmqvist, Emelie, Ekholm, Lovisa January 2010 (has links)
The question which we have chosen to examine is how the male and female managers in social work looks at their leadership. We have investigated how male and female manager describes their leadership, their leadership skills and how they describe other people's qualityfications. We have chosen to define the words gender, sex, leadership, masculine and feminine. These words contain many interpretations. Results of the study are based on qualitative interviews with male and female managers in social work. We believe it is important to describe how gender expresses in leadership, as the male most often is seen as the norm for leadership, however, social work has since several decades been associated to females. Something we have found in this study is that the informant often describes that other leaders often posses typical male and female traits, but that they themselves don’t apply this description onto themselves. Keywords: Leadership, Gender, male, fThis is a qualitative study aimed to examine how gender is expressed in leadership. A study about four teachers in children’s literature from a gender perspective

Pettersson, Sofia January 2015 (has links)
This study has been conducted as a literary analysis of four chapter books for children in the early years of compulsory school: Magister Tutnäsa, Vilken fullträff, Astrakan, Sune och tjejhatarligan, and Alva och Dum-Julia. The aim has been to analyse four teacher characters from a gender perspective. The study has focused on the teachers’ personal characteristics and whether these are typically female or male. Another aim has been to study how the character reinforces or runs against stereotyped gender patterns. Stephens’s and Andræ’s matrices of femininity and masculinity in literature have been used. The result shows that all the teachers in the analysed books are portrayed in a nuanced way. The characters display examples of both gender stereotypes and gender-transgressing characteristics. Stereotyped gender patterns are something that school is supposed to counteract. This can be done by working with literature. For this reason, another aim has been to show how teachers can purposefully use literature in the school’s work for gender equality.

Kassman, Elsa, Sjölund, Linn January 2018 (has links)
In this essay, we have unpacked four different levels (the role of women as: a) a part of game history, b) design process, c) characters of the game and d) users) to get a better understanding of the users choice of characters in the popular fighting game Tekken 7.   We have examined the role of women as part of the game’s history and design-process to gain a deeper understanding into the background of the game’s designing process. We have interviewed users with qualitative methods and used analysis strategies such as semiotic analysis and thematic analysis.   The results of our analysis show that users choose their characters based on visual attributes and that they imagine the characters as being an extension of themselves. Users apprehend the characters as stereotypical and thereby reproduce gender-related norms. The process of picking a character to play with is difficult for some of the users - There is a difference between female and male users due to stereotypical visual attributes of the characters which means that it is more problematic for female users to identify themselves with many of the characters. This is affecting the female users experience in a negative way.

Maskulint kontra feminint ledarskap : Beskriver manliga ledare i kvinnodominerade branscher sin ledarstil som feminin?

Isak, Diana, Hassan, Kawsar Abdullahi January 2020 (has links)
This study aims to investigate whether male leaders in women-dominated industries describe their leadership as masculine or feminine in accordance with the writers own designed model “Masculine leadership versus feminine leadership”. The model is based on previous research. Furthermore if there are other explanatory models for the leaders description. This study also answers whether male leaders in women-dominated branches seem to adopt a feminine leadership or stick to the typical leadership attached to male leadership. A qualitative approach has been applied throughout the study to create an in-depth understanding of the topic with a total of six male respondents who participated in a semi-structured interview. Historically, and from the theoretical point of view, it is most common for men to exercise a leadership style of masculine leadership. This study concluded that four out of six respondents have leadership styles that are consistent with the typical leadership applied to male leaders and that two respondents describe themselves as adopting a feminine leadership style.

The Powerpuff Girls vs. Sailor Moon : En jämförelse av två animerade barnprograms underliggande diskurser / The Powerpuff Girls vs. Sailor Moon

Lörtscher, Yasmin January 2014 (has links)
This study is about underlying discourses of two tv-series for children from opposite parts of the globe. Focus lays on which morals and values adults choose to teach children through popular culture, even on an unaware basis and how does differ, or not, between different societies. The theoretical framework chosen for this study are semiotics in combination with the concept of the gaze by Laura Mulvey. Semiotics is the study of signs and their underlying meanings constructed by society. By studying popular culture with the tools provided by semiotic analysis it is possible to discouver underlying myths, social constructions of society, that are reproduced over and over again to remain alive. Mulveys theory of the gaze is helpfull in the process of decoding those constructions to discover the dominant partys and norms represented. In this particular study underlying structures such as patriarcal power relations, unequality between the representation of different ethnicities and the consistent presents of the male gaze where discovered. The conclusions made are that some social constructions are more global then others and that popular culture in a high degree mirrors societies norms, preferences and values.

En kritisk idéanalys av det mediala, akademiska, politiska etablissemanget / The Opinion Corridor : Openness and tolerance in the moral superpower, right? A critical analysis of the medial, academic and political establishment

Gustafsson, Erik January 2020 (has links)
In 2018, when famous dissident professor Jordan Peterson visited Scandinavia he stirred up controversy when penetrating the otherwise relatively intact Swedish thought-bubble. Using J.S Mills principles of free thought to guide us through this Orwellian landscape, I will demonstrate the narrowness of the so-called opinion corridor surrounding Swedish public intellectual life.
