The landmark of reference in the construction of this research is the seventies of the twentieth century, when the festivity procession starts to suffer a series of modifications, happened, mainly, from the process of growth and urbanization of the spaces of the city that shelters it. Its organizational structure is composed of three parts. The first one, containing two chapters, intends to argue the Feast of Nazaré in its movement of transformation and its relation with the space of the city. Also it looks for to show as new cultural logics will be adding to the Feast and how these logics dialogue with each other and with own Feast. The second part, divided in three chapters, approaches the tensions and reinventions of and in the Feast, materialized in the dialogue that different sectors keep with "traditional" signs of the Círio, as the rope, the mantle and the lunch. The third part, also with three chapters, evidences the relation that the Feast of Nazaré leads with its profane spaces: the Feast of the Chiquita, the Popular Theater of the Círio and the Camp Feast of Nazaré, unveiling the political struggle from the confluence of power struggles by various social sectors that, in contemporary times, battle it out for their domains. All body text of the thesis finds support in the sources consulted and the reading and interpretation of the investigated phenomena are subsidized on the ideas of contemporary theorists of Social History, as Bakhtin (1996), Bhabha (2007), Canclini (2006), Hall (2006), Hobsbawm (1995) and Martin-Barbero (2006) / Esta tese tem como objeto de estudo a Festa de Nazaré, que acontece há mais de duzentos anos na cidade de Belém do Grão Pará.

Gender and mental health: the experience of female and male identities and the psychological suffering in the contemporary Brazilian society. Some reflections based on testimonies of patients with severe mental illness of the CAPS - Araraquara - SP

Santos, Anna Maria Corbi Caldas dos 24 September 2008 (has links)
This research analyses the experience of the psychological suffering based on the testimonies of men and women users of a public health service of the municipality of Araraquara SP. It is considered the social construction of the psychological suffering and, therefore, the arrangement of values and norms of a certain society and historical epoch. In other terms, what seems to be something extremely individual, that is to say, the experience of a whole of illnesses in the subjective scope, expresses regularities that are conformed by a certain social configuration. It was used semistructured interviews with users of the Center of Psychosocial Attention (CAPES) men and women, analyzed through the perspective of the social gender relations and under the context of the changes of the Brazilian psychiatric system starting from the Anti Asylum Fight. The conclusion is that the challenge to be faced by the contemporary brazilian society in the construction of public policies in the field of mental health must take into account the questions raised by the perspective of the social gender relations

La lutte internationale contre le blanchiment de capitaux et le financement du terrorisme : exemple de la France et d'Haïti / The international fight against money laundering and financing of terrorism : the example of France and Haiti

Stimphat, Yves-Fils 07 September 2018 (has links)
The increasing interest of countries to combat money laundering has initially been expressed through unilateral actions geared specifically to combatting drug trafficking. The takeover of the fight against money laundering by the international community, otherwise triggered by the disastrous consequences of drug trafficking and the products attained therefrom on the world economy, has imposed at a later stage the conjunction of national initiatives in this area. However, concerning the phenomenon of money laundering lato sensu, the comprehensive approach adopted has generated innumerous norms from international and regional bodies outlining an ambiguous and inapplicable framework.Amid this normative chaos, the Financial Action Task Force stands, since its creation in 1989, as the arena for setting, broadcasting, and ensuring adequate interpretation and implementation of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) international norms. The AML norms include inter alia the UN Conventions and UN Security Council’s resolutions. The effectiveness of the national systems is pursued on the basis of preventive measures in strict proportion to actual risks of money laundering and terrorist financing.

Pol?ticas p?blicas e fechamento das escolas do campo no Brasil / Public policies and closure of the field schools in Brazil

GUIMAR?ES, F?bio de Oliveira 08 December 2017 (has links)

One of the problems still experienced today in the countryside is the rural exodus and the terrible conditions of access and permanence in these spaces. Our main objective with this text is to evaluate the extremely high rates of closure of rural schools in Brazil in the last fifteen years. About 32,512 schools were closed, according to the source of the II PNERA - Report of the II National Survey on Education in Agrarian Reform. The Constitution of the Brazilian Federative Republic of 1988, the Law on the Guidelines and Bases of National Education and the following public policies: PRONERA - National Program for Education in Agrarian Reform, PROCAMPO - Support Program for Higher Education in Field Education and PRONACAMPO - National Program of Field Education are radically against the policy of closing schools. The course of this work was accomplished through the survey of sources, critical analysis of existing documentation, legislation, visits to universities, social movements of the field and libraries. As still partial results of the work we understand the culture in a very broad sense of educational formation of the subjects, bearers of references to the identity, action and memory of the different groups formed in the Brazilian society. In the Dissertation, we will defend an educational service specialized in the rural schools, including creating possibilities for individual and collective subjects in the field to have the same teaching conditions in capitals and urban centers. We will rescue the identities of gender, race and culture of the various localities of the peasants, contemplating the diversity of educators and learners in their formation. The closure of the rural schools, daycare centers, preschools, elementary and high schools, can be characterized as a crime against public administration and punished with all the rigor of the Law. If possible, they are treated as heinous crimes, adolescents at risk, leading to rural exodus, crime, disorderly growth, irregular land occupation, among other aspects. Denied basic elementary human rights to the subjects of the field, a chain reaction is generated. Individuals and camp collectives are assaulted and marginalized, deprived of the basic subsistence minimum. This debate is strengthened on March 27, 2014. Article 28 of the LDB was amended with the following text: "The closing of rural schools, indigenous and quilombolas will be preceded by a manifestation of the normative organ of the respective education system, which will consider the justification presented by the Secretary of Education, the analysis of the diagnosis of the impact of the action and the manifestation of the school community. " At this juncture, the social movements of the countryside are protagonists and denounce the daily lives of students who live in the countryside, however, to continue their studies, it is necessary to travel to the city.

Confronting the limits: renditions of the real in the edge of the Construct Film Cycle.

Greenwood, Kate January 2008 (has links)
This thesis examines the fragile perimeter that separates an illusory reality from the supposedly more authentic Real it conceals, which forms a key focus of Slavoj Žižek’s work, and in this thesis I offer a study of the relations between this aspect of Žižek’s work and film theory. In particular, this thesis is an elaboration on and interrogation of Žižek’s employment of the Lacanian notion of the Real in critiques of the inadequacy of 1970s and 1980s film theory and its widespread adoption of a Lacanian model of film-spectator relations. By way of illustration, I consider the microgenre of films released between the years 1998 to 2000 that includes the Matrix trilogy, David Fincher’s Fight Club, Peter Weir’s The Truman Show, and Alex Proyas’ Dark City, which are all similarly fascinated by the border between a fake reality and an ostensibly more genuine real. However, I also argue that this cycle of films does more than illustrate a fascination with that which is in excess of signification: this cycle of films equally participates in the reappraisal of this important phase of film theory. This thesis proceeds from a consideration of Žižek’s assertion that Lacanian psychoanalysis is missing from the dominant field of film theory. To assess this claim, I re-examine the era of political modernism. From this it becomes clear that what Žižek is noting is not the total absence of Lacanian psychoanalysis, but, rather, an absence of the version of Lacan to which he is drawn. This thesis considers aspects of the Real that contaminate the form and matter of these films, in addition to the thematic exploration of the shadowy world beyond reality. In pursuing this investigation, this thesis utilises the insights of the deconstructive work of Jacques Derrida, to consider the terms ‘form’, ‘content’ and ‘matter’. These words are ubiquitous in film studies, and I aim to explicate not their final meaning, but the way in which the Real interrupts the very stability of vocabulary used in film studies. I interrogate the concepts of gaze and voice as privileged instances of the way in which the Real can rupture the symbolic in narrative film. Without seeking to reject these aesthetic figures, through critical readings of key theories of embodiment, the grotesque and the abject (such as those of Marks, Shaviro, Sobchack, Bakhtin and Kristeva), I suggest how the body and its representation provides a more sustained motif where the Real leaves its trace in these films. This thesis proposes that it is above all through such representations that these films offer a response to the themes with which politically modernist film theory has been historically concerned. The Edge of the Construct films achieve this in their evocation of an intolerable namelessness at the centre of the human subject and the social world it inhabits. / Thesis(Ph.D.) -- School of Humanities, 2008

Giribet Bernat, Isaac 20 July 2012 (has links)
The work focuses on studying the new form of internal organization that the Movement of Landless Rural Workers – MST has adopted, that is represented in the territory by what is known as the 'brigades', in particular, the case of the Brigade Salvador Allende, which has its strongest performance in the Northwest Region of the southern state of Parana. The field work in settlements and camps, has allowed us to dimensionate which is the new form of organization has led in to an increase in the degree of involvement and participation of landless families, and as of this fact results in a significant increase in the degree of qualification of the adversarial process that the MST stars against the advance of the capitalist project for Brazilian agriculture. The two models are in conflict cause they are trying to implement, in the same territories, the respective projects of society, either to continue to devote large tracts of land to livestock cattle and the cultivation of sugar cane or converting them into small family farms where they produce healthy food.

Genetic Algorithm Based Damage Control For Shipboard Power Systems

Amba, Tushar 2009 May 1900 (has links)
The work presented in this thesis was concerned with the implementation of a damage control method for U.S. Navy shipboard power systems (SPS). In recent years, the Navy has been seeking an automated damage control and power system management approach for future reconfigurable shipboard power systems. The methodology should be capable of representing the dynamic performance (differential algebraic description), the steady state performance (algebraic description), and the system reconfiguration routines (discrete events) in one comprehensive tool. The damage control approach should also be able to improve survivability, reliability, and security, as well as reduce manning through the automation of the reconfiguration of the SPS network. To this end, this work implemented a damage control method for a notional Next Generation Integrated Power System. This thesis presents a static implementation of a dynamic formulation of a new damage control method at the DC zonal Integrated Flight Through Power system level. The proposed method used a constrained binary genetic algorithm to find an optimal network configuration. An optimal network configuration is a configuration which restores all of the de-energized loads that are possible to be restored based on the priority of the load without violating the system operating constraints. System operating limits act as constraints in the static damage control implementation. Off-line studies were conducted using an example power system modeled in PSCAD, an electromagnetic time domain transient simulation environment and study tool, to evaluate the effectiveness of the damage control method in restoring the power system. The simulation results for case studies showed that, in approximately 93% of the cases, the proposed damage algorithm was able to find the optimal network configuration that restores the power system network without violating the power system operating constraints.

Next Generation End to End Avionics Bus Monitoring

Rodittis, Kathy, Cooke, Alan 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2013 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Ninth Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 21-24, 2013 / Bally's Hotel & Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV / With the advent of networked based data acquisition systems comes the opportunity to acquire, transmit and store potentially very large volumes of data. Despite this, and the increased size of the data acquisition networks, the use of tightly integrated hardware, and setup and analysis software enable the FTI engineer to save time and increase productivity. This paper outlines how the use of innovative bus packetizer technology and the close integration of FTI software can simplify this process. The paper describes how packetizer technology is used to acquire data from avionics buses, and how it packages this data in a format that is optimized for network based systems. The paper further describes how software can simplify the process of configuring avionics bus monitors in addition to automating and optimizing the transport of data from various nodes in the acquisition network for transmission to either network recorders or via a telemetry link.

Film som forteller : Fight Club som litterær adapsjon / Narrating Film : Fight Club as literary adaptation

Hustad, Jonas Langset January 2014 (has links)
Tema blir ironi, upålitelighet, subjektivitet, karakterengasjement og kronologi. Anvendte teoretikere inkluderer Linda Hutcheon, Sarah Kozloff, Thomas Elsaesser, Gerard Genette, Seymour Chatman, André Bazin, Murray Smith og Lars Thomas Braaten.
