Previous issue date: 2013-03-14 / This master thesis aims to analyze narratological, stylistic, and discursive procedures adopted in the novel of the Amazonian writer Milton Hatoum: The Tree of the Seventh Heaven (1989). Its overall goal is to propose interpretation
for articulatory aspects of dialogical/intertextual nature in contents and forms present in these books and, as specific activity, dealing with the repercussions by means of comparative readings, with regard to tendency in contemporary Brazilian literature, observed in exemplary cases such as Osman Lins and Raduan Nassar of utilization of elements, from domains of knowledge and belief, of Judeo-Christian and Islamic cultural background, explored through the
core composed by its thematic and novelistic characters: immigrants of Lebanese origin. Peripherally, this study also aims, on the one hand, the discussion of technical and methodological implications concerning the referential developments for the author s compositional repertoire and, on the other hand, the survey of objects of the referentiality and the intersemioticity in the corpus of work, in accordance with the conciliatory proposal for the theories of intertextuality by Tiphaine Samoyault: the memory of literature. As mentioned
in the following introduction, the division of contents conforms to the criteria, at first, of a revisionist movement towards encompass the classical theories of intertextuality. In a second step, it develops discussions related to the questioning raised by critics about the notions of referentiality, reference, and relation, as well as the intersection of semiotic codes conventionally insulated. Finally, the core of the project consists of a dialogical and intertextual approach of The Tree of the Seventh Heaven to other literary works.

Previous issue date: 2013-05-22 / This research aims to investigate the "testimonial tenor" of the novel A costa dos murmúrios (1988), by the Portuguese writer Lídia Jorge. The research focuses on the relationship between experiences of historical catastrophe and its manifestation in
literary language. For this it was necessary a brief recovery of the theory about the relation between literature and history to highlight the configuration of a historic event in a literary text. The study has the testimony notion as theoretical contribution, including: Beatriz Sarlo and Seligmann-Silva. In A costa dos murmúrios the political transience of the narrative voice reconfigures its historical experience in order to
show a part of Colonial War that concerns the extermination of black Mozambican civilians by Portuguese soldiers during the colonial policy of Estado Novo dictatorship. Testimony in A costa dos murmúrios concerns the own discussion about
setting an aesthetic representation that assumes its relation with reality by understanding that passage to the literary form undertakes an ambiguous recovery process whose tenor of truth is in the form how reality is understood, developed and
communicated. The study contributes to the comprehension that fictional way may include a form of testimony that can help in processing traumatic historical events.

Previous issue date: 2010-09-28 / Secretaria da Educação do Estado de São Paulo / This dissertation presents a comparative study of tales of contemporary angolan and brazilian literatures, having as object of reflection the presence of black character and the construction of cultural identity and literary. The corpus consisted of two brazilian tales: "Civilization" by Oswaldo de Camargo (O carro do exito, 1972) and "Benedict said by saying" (Negros em contos, 1996), writer Cuti; and two angolan tales: "Blacks do not know how to eat lobster" (Fronteiras perdidas, 1998), by José Eduardo Agualusa, and "The Colonel's Building of the Dog" (Kasakas & cardeais, 2002), writer Jacques Arlindo dos Santos. The literary forms of these short stories, especially the issue of black character as a subject of speech by the light of studies of Bakhtin, were factors in the construction of identity of the character, beyond representation of collective memory in the narrative structure through confrontation between the discourses the narrator and the characters. Considered the cultural diversity of the two countries, Brazil and Angola, it was possible to observe a distinction regarding the construction of identity of black people in relation to the narrative spaces, in its cultural redefinition. It was found that the search of identity took different traits because the black character of the brazilian tales belong to an area of loan, which is not african, while the black character of the angolan tales is inserted in the african space, of belonging. However, analysis of the tales revealed a common thread between the two literatures, namely, its literary marginality. About the theoretical foundation, the theme of cultural and literary identity were the subject of some determinants researches for this study, specially of the Zila Bernd (1987/1988), Domicio Proença Filho (2004), Eduardo de Assis Duarte (2009), Inocencia Mata (2006), Maria Luiza Pereira Scher (2007) and Renato Ortiz. In the specific field of cultural studies and collective memory, Stuart Hall (2003/2006), Homi K. Bhabha (2007), Maurice Halbwachs (1950) and Paul Ricoeur (2007) were vital presences. Although confirmed the undeniable quality and value of literary short stories studied, their literary marginality emphasizes the need for critical studies that have focused on the so-called black literature, in the brazilian case, and the angolan literature, especially as regards their literary identity commonly overlooked / Este trabalho apresenta um estudo comparado entre contos contemporâneos das literaturas
As
Considerada a
Stuart Hall (2003/2006), Homi K. Bhabha (2007), Maurice Halbwachs (1950) e Paul Ricoeur
esquecida

The understanding of the work designed by us as fictional trans interested in with regard to how the empirical reality is translated by the books (and Boiada 1 Boiada 2) and transformed by the antics of the fictional narrator-traveler, reader, creator and witness simultaneously. The emergence of history, from the perspective of the author diplomat, pointed to the difference reflected in latu and strict sense - the movement of time and space travel through the memory in fable flow of images and maps of the rich nature of the Hinterland Miner. Scenarios and field trials of poetic language in the telling of stories in sync. In this deployment of meta-narratives, the dialogism is the method that implements the parallel tale books and field - between the last collection (Travel, 1952) and present the report (in constant update.) The major effect is marked by the journey of the invention (Seven Stories and seven Messegers), through the other, human and geographical otherness that are meant to represent and refract the author's intentions in terms of a universal message: "O Recado do Morro , o Morro da Garça in the region of Cordisburgo in trans poetry to" The Scrap of Earth. " In the dynamics of travel, the polyphonic narrative finds its dual core, the poetic and linguistic identity uniqueness Rosa, once degenerated by the memory flow, point to the utopia of this unfinished the work in virtual coexistence and current. These are the basic principles raised by the reading of discovery and invention, crossing, contemplation and interactivity, this dissertation / O objetivo geral do estudo do conto O Recado do Morro , do escritor João Guimarães Rosa (1908-1963), integrado à antologia Corpo de Baile (1956), é elucidar o trabalho de hibridação da forma, estrutura e linguagem do conto com os dados das Cadernetas de Campo do viajante autor e a narrativa relatada em processo de criação.

Previous issue date: 2006-10-01 / This paper analyses the interior world in Eça de Queiroz s novel O Crime do
Padre Amaro through the voices of the protagonists Amaro and Amélia. This
work uses Mikhail Bakhtin s studies on dialogue as a theoretical reference,
especially his discourse on the notion of I and how it is constructed through
the discourse of others- in this case the interior voices of the characters and
how they are conditioned by the way they live. This paper also attempts to
situate Bakhtin s theories within the work of other theorists in such a way as to
support the arguments presented here. In this study I have looked at the
historical, social, political and religious context in which the novel was written,
moving through a broader view of nineteenth-century Europe, then Portugal and
finally to the town of Leiria, where the novel is set. Following this, the dialogues
of the characters are used to draw a picture of the society and way of life at that
time and are compared to the internal voices of the protagonists, showing how
the characters and their values are products of this society. Finally it is shown
that the interior voices of these characters reproduce the discourse of the other.
Their voices are never solitary voices, but carry in them what Bakhtin calls
conforme afirma Bakhtin

Previous issue date: 2006-12-13 / Secretaria da Educação do Estado de São Paulo / This dissertation analyses the metaphor dimensions of the word chão/xão in the literary work
"Há prendisajens com o xão " (2002) from the Angolan writer Ondjaki, with the goal to
summarize the author s poetic and makes clear how the corpus of the poems are inserted in a
literary system of countries with Portuguese language and also dialogues with others writers.
The investigation had developed in four chapters. In chapter 1, we established how Ondjaki
production is inserted in a literary system, seen as a macro system (Abdala, 1989), we
attempted to point out some authors and the theme 'land' to locate the work in a time-space of
the Angolan Literature History, that is, showing who are the "others" that precede him. In the
chapter 2, was delicated for the analysis of the corpus, epigraphs and dedicatories in view of
the construction of the metaphoric though of word "xão", based on studies of Valèry (1999)
Fenollosa (1994) and Pound (1997). In chapter 3, " Learning to be ground: the language", we
attempted to reveal the poet procedures to build up a crioulè language and its malleabilities,
making evident the aspects of the orality (quimbundu subtract, for instance) used as resources
for the construction of paronomasia, alliteration and works-assembly. In chapter 4, The
others of the land , we used Glissant concept of rhizome (2005) to conclude how the
resources raised previously lead to the construction of identities, of a "xão" as a poetic land
without frontiers, through the relationship with the contemporary poetry universe in

No cap.
No cap. 3,
palavras-montagem. No cap.

Previous issue date: 2006-12-12 / We emphasize the narrator s work in the storytelling to show how contemporary
fiction uses the aesthetic resource in its representation.
For that end, we intend to investigate the effect of having two narrators in the novel
Nove noites, by Bernardo Carvalho, published by Companhia Das Letras, in 2002. From the
report of each narrator we will observe the marks that characterize their speeches in order to
define the role of this fictional component. We will also consider the changes that have taken
the aesthetic components to alternative positions inside the story, as a way to cunningly place
in the art of telling stories.
We also hope to show how this modern-day-narrator s speech can produce a text
that mixes real and imaginary friends and not break up its commitment to fiction.
Bernardo Carvalho presents himself as a writer who is conscious of the literary work
and his work elevates lose the reader as he follows the text, or maybe this is just a way to
disguise the absence of a meaning.
In that aspect, the narrator is the component who shows a proposal of a story with
such characteristics once he is a fictional space, in a position that is very different from that of
the experienced storyteller who used to add his wisdom to the text.
From an angle that allows us to identify him with the reader, for he also takes the
position of a reader, the narrator highlights the importance of the character and subtracts
himself from the story he told. However, his imagination and creativity do not let us fail to see
A partir

Previous issue date: 2006-10-27 / Secretaria da Educação do Estado de São Paulo / The proposal of this work is to start from a thorough reading of Memórias
Póstumas de Brás Cubas of Machado de Assis and to find out four discursive
levels in the text: the Old Testament discourse, the discourse of Stoic
Philosophers, the New Testament discourse and the Christian theologian Aurélio
Agostinho, and finally the discourse of French moralists as Voltaire.
I will show you the evidences of these discourses in the novel text as well
as the characteristics which turn concomitant and similar instances into structural
pillars which bear the novel gender, according to Bakhtin s definition. Those
structures suggest several discursive approaches, some of them concerning the
plot nature, others regarding to a critical way about the sources in which Machado
de Assis inspired himself or devoured anthropophagically in order to establish a
revolutionary narrative discourse which does not end in those four instances.
However, they are like pillars which bear and provide a framework for the greatest
acrobat capers .
Acrobat capers, this is a way which I would define the style of Machado de
Assis, a caper in the air without any rope or protection net towards a joy taken by
the discovery of the skill which deludes the reader and leads him to ethereal
spaces which are beyond the matter / A proposta deste trabalho é, a partir de uma leitura atenta da obra
comprovem certa a existência no texto de quatro níveis discursivos: o discurso do
Antigo Testamento, o discurso dos filósofos Estóicos, o discurso do Novo
moralistas franceses, notadamente Voltaire.
Apontarei exemplos desses discursos no romance e indicarei as

Previous issue date: 2006-11-16 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This study has the aim of investigating the opera's representation in D.
Casmurro's speech, as an I mask, which unroll itself in three personas: Casmurro
as an author, narrator and as a character, Bentinho.
This expansion creates a correlation with the operistic tripartite structure,
whose authorship is shared among the playwriter, the librettist and the musician,
besides, it appears in the novel in chapters VIII - It's time , IX - The Opera and X
Accepted the Theory , in which the narrator approches his life to an operistic
spectacle.
This operistic drama element in DC's structure, has been the target not only
for the critics as we´ll see in chapter 2, but also for composers like João Gomes Jr.,
who had transformed DC in a theater show. The music score belongs to him, but the
libretto was written by Antonio Picarollo, which could be found in the music section of
Rio de janeiro's nacional library.
To reach our goal and to be able of demonstrating the operistic scene built by
the casmurro-author, we started with Machado de Assis' experience in the theater,
trying to show to our reader how the author experienced his life that later he wrote in
the novel.
In chapter 2, we will recuperate the literary censorious' voice, because they
analysed the opera that appears inside the novel, giving a special view of the
methaphor and alegory that could be seen in DC.
In chapter 3, the central focus will be the opera, its parts and relations with
DC, showing how the overture, arias, intermezzos, preludes and leitmotifs are written
in the narrative.
Finally in chapter 4, our target will be to analyse the operistic mask inside the
novel's speech through Casmurro's tripartite performance as long as a playwriter,
Tal desdobramento cria

Previous issue date: 2006-10-17 / This study has as objective showing the importance of the letters, as influence in the
process of the literary creation of Manuel Bandeira and Ribeiro Couto, in view of the
second phase of the modernist movement, in the period between 1929 and 1939. At the
same time, I want to demonstrate that the referring poetical function to the letters as
literary genre, allows, many times, an aesthetic enjoyment.
Under this subject, Sophia Angelides, in Carta e Literature (apud SCHNAIDERMAN,
2001, p.23-24), affirms : "in the personal testimonials of a writer, the poetical function can
manifest itself with greater or minor intensity, but, in someway, the speech is marked by
a peculiar procedure that will allow, many times, the aesthetic enjoyment".
This way for Angelides "the proper spontaneous and fragmentary character, the
alternation of the poetical and not poetical language, the cliches, everything is inherent
to the epistolar genre.
Being this way, many of the letters changed between Manuel Bandeira and Ribeiro
Couto assume didactic value, others correspond to the intensity of feelings, transforming
themselves into a subjective artistic expression that favors the understanding of the
workmanships.
The literary subjects in the letters are these: references to the workmanships published
for both, appreciation of these workmanships, including citation of chronicles and quarrel
of genres.
Still, the letters exchanged between the two poets disclose tboth of theirs opinions on
painting, the poetry of Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Jorge de Lima, Múcio Leão, etc.
This way, the correspondence between Manuel Bandeira and Ribeiro Couto supplies
information to us on the intellectual and literary trajectory of both, giving a theoretical and
utilitarian contribution to the study of the genres in Brazilian Literature, in particular, the
literário permite, muitas vezes, a fruição estética.
