This study analyzes objects of Chinese porcelain found at Kina slott located on Drottningholm just outside Stockholm from a material culture (Material Culture Studies MCS) perspective. The aim is to examine how the materiality of porcelain can generate knowledge within MCS and to shed light on how it influenced the image of the Far East in Sweden during the mid-1700s. The study also wants to open up ways for further analyses of Chinese porcelain at the royal palaces in Sweden. Theory is drawn from various interdisciplinary fields of research and activates the concepts of transculturalism and agency to problematize how the porcelain objects was displayed at the castle and how they interact with the environment. The analyses also raise questions about the objects' age and stylistic development. The gaze of the Art historian and the knowledge of connoisseurship are discussed in a reflective section. The result of the study places the material culture and agency of porcelain as an actor with an important impact on the imagination of the utopian Far East in the 1700s but also as a transformer for cultural exchange between East and West. The objects are believed to have been of great importance as authentic props from a distant world and the discussion also takes into consideration the porcelain objects political influence as a status object and commodity.

The purpose of this study was to create a deeper understanding of the identity and self-image of female Swedish emigrants of the 1880s-1920s with the help of preserved personal objects by answering the following questions with a microhistory approach: What significance did material objects have for the identity formulation of female Swedish emigrants in healthcare in America? And, What do the material objects tell us about the identity, self-image and experience of these unmarried female Swedish-American emigrants? To answer the questions material sources have been examined with the use of Wilhelm Dilthey's hermeneutic method of interpretation. A method where historical understanding is viewed as essential for our ability to interpret historical meaning. And with the use of material culture theory, grounded in the theoretical concepts of objectification, consumption and performativity resulted in the following conclusions: The material objects had meaning in the identity formulation in such a way that they helped the women in this study to create and interpret their identities in relation to their material surroundings, the ideals of the time, their professional status and professional role. With clothes, personal items and documents, they created their identities according to the ideals of the time in relation to their professional status and professional role. The material objects have a lot to tell about the identities, self-images and experiences of the female Swedish American emigrants and about how they created a sense of belonging and a place for themselves in their new life. Through the material objects they use to portray their identity, they demonstrate their disposable income and legitimize and confirm their social, personal and professional success and status. Above all, the source material tells about the importance of their professional identity in shaping their identity and self-image, something that is reinforced in their expression over the years. Based on how they stage and create the image of themselves as successful, independent and with high professional status, we can also understand that this was a large part of their self-image.

The aim of the study was to gain knowledge about the relationship between employee efforts and different reward areas. Further aim of the study was also to test hypotheses about the employee's experience at work in relation to factors such as gender, age and form of employment. The study was carried out with the support of Johannes Siegrist's effort- and reward model (1996). The study has been quantitative, with 119 employees within the organization answered questionnaires. The questionnaires used was developed by Siegrist (1996). The result showed that the majority of employees experience the effort at work as high and the various reward areas as high. The most rewarding reward for the result was the social reward. With the help of the study, we could conclude that a connection exists between the experienced efforts and some of the received reward within the organization.

I denna uppsats utforskas hur vi kan förstå och arbeta med materialet papper i gymnasieskolans bildämne på ett sätt som lyfter fram papprets materiella egenskaper, tillverkning, återvinning och hållbarhet. Med hjälp av research-creation som forskningsmetod organiseras sammanlagt nio forskningshändelser som vill öppna upp för olika praktiker och sätt att förstå papper i bildämnet. Forskningshändelserna analyseras med hjälp av en nymaterialistisk tolkningsram och med begreppen response-ability och materiell litteracitet. I studien synliggörs hur användningen av papper i bildundervisningen innefattas av en variation av olika slags papper, konstnärliga uttryckssätt och tekniker. I studien framkommer att förståelsen för papprets tillverkning, återvinning och hållbarhet försvåras då bildämnets genomgripande kursplan inte nämner eller tar upp dessa begrepp. Bildlärare och elevers intresse för papper kan dock skapa rum och förutsättningar för att moment som berör papprets tillverkning, återvinning och hållbarhet tas upp i bildundervisningen. Med hjälp av en nymaterialistisk ingång till en praktik med papper framträder hur olika substanser, kroppar och material samverkar i papprets materiella egenskaper och tillverkningsprocess. I denna praktik och förståelse synliggörs hur papper som material är process-baserad och relationell. I denna förståelse öppnas möjligheterna till att förstå och se kontakter och bindningar som finns mellan papper, material, växter och miljöer. Med hjälp av begreppet response-ability aktualiseras också etiska och moraliska frågor kopplade till praktiker med material och papper.

Svensk patenträtt har i stor omfattning harmoniserats med praxis utvecklad av det europeiska patentverket (EPO), vad avser patenterbarhetskriterier. Anledningen till harmoniseringen har motiverats av att det ska bli en mer enhetlig bedömning av patent i Europa. Harmoniseringen har i vart fall inte innefattat så kallad formell praxis, som innefattar regler om hand­läggandet hos det svenska patentverket, i förhållande till handläggandet av det vid EPO.   Vid Sveriges anslutning till European Patent Convention (EPC) år 1978, förespråkades att det svenska patentverket ansågs hålla en godtagbar standard i sin handläggning, men att det fram­tida förhållandet mellan svensk patenträtt och EPC kunde komma att innebära förändring om kvalitetsnivån inte kunde anses tillräcklig hög. Efter ett nyligen taget beslut av Patentbesvärsrätten (PBR) har Patent- och registreringsverkets (PRV) handläggning ifrågasatts, varför författarna valt att undersöka om en förändring av hand­läggningen vid PRV bör genomföras, i enlighet med det förslag som framställs i proposition 1977/78:1, med beaktande av praxis utvecklad av EPO.   I uppsatsen redogörs för hur EPO har tydligare regler avseende patent­ärenden än vad PRV har, varför en harmonisering av detta område bör diskuteras för säkerställandet av hög kvalitet vid handläggningen hos det svenska patentverket. Det är författarnas uppfattning att en ofullständig harmonisering även av formella regler resulterar i ett problem för säkerställandet av rättssäkerheten, eftersom lagregleringen i Sverige kan anses bristfällig. Således är det av intresse för svensk patenträtt att ta hänsyn till formell praxis utvecklad av EPO, alternativt, genom lagstiftningsförfarande, reglera bristen av tydliga regler.

Studiens syfte är att bidra med kunskap om vad som kommer till uttryck som viktigt i den materiella miljön i en svensk respektive sydafrikansk förskolekontext, via barns fotografier. I studien deltar två förskolor, en i Sverige och en i Sydafrika. Barnen fick i uppgift att fotografera sin förskolas materiella miljö. Fotografierna kodades och analyserades sedan av oss med hjälp av begrepp från den grundade teorin. Fotografierna från de båda förskolorna kopplades till varsitt tema som ansågs övergripande för majoriteten av de tagna fotografierna. Ur bilderna från den svenska förskolan växte temat lek fram medan fotografierna från den sydafrikanska förskolan visade på en starkare koppling till undervisning. / The purpose of the study is to contribute knowledge about what is considered important in the material environment in a Swedish and South African preschool context, with the help of children's photographs. Two preschools are participating in the study, one in Sweden and one in South Africa. The children were given the task of photographing their preschool's material environment. The photographs were then coded and analysed by us using concepts from the grounded theory. The photographs from the two preschools were linked to a theme that could be considered comprehensive for the majority of the photographs taken. From the pictures from the Swedish preschool, the theme of play emerged, while the photographs from the South African preschool showed a stronger connection to teaching.

Sámi culture and resources have long been exploited by the Swedish state, church and government. The material culture that was collected during the late 19th and early 20th century, has many times lost their original meaning and context later on in museum collections. This is problematic and needs to change in order to prevent further damage to the Sámi material and immaterial culture. This study aims to analyse the Sámi silver brooches with Marian-symbols, that were found together with other types of silver artefacts at Passekårsa, Gällivare parish. By doing this type of analysis it allows for further and mor difficult discussions to be adressed and it also allows for the silver find in question to be further contextualized. We non-Sámi archaeologists, scientists and staff at museums need to talk about how we are interpreting, examining and portraying Sámi cultural heritage whether it concerns human remains, places of sacrifice or small silver brooches.
