Musikalier på bibliotek : en outnyttjad resurs? En fallstudie / Sheet Music held by libraries : an underutilised resource.

Ährlund, Anna January 2007 (has links)
The object of this master thesis is to question why the sheet music heldby libraries is not used more than it is. I have mainly studied the inc idenceof any cooperation between the music schools and libraries, whether there has been consultation on the purchase of sheet musicand whether the music schools borrowed sheet music from the libraries. For the thesis qualitative methods were used in the form of interviewswith ten leaders in music or cultural schools in Sweden. The mainstudy has been focused on the library and music school in Vänersborg. To compare my results and draw conclusions I have used the work ofSanna Taljas: Music, Culture and the Library: an analysis of Discourses. The result of the study showed that there is very little cooperation betweenthe library section for music and the music school. The greatestinterest for cooperation appears to come from the library personnel. Both the library and the music school personnel claim insufficient timeand money for their lack of cooperation. / Uppsatsnivå: D

Gör skolbibliotekarien någon skillnad? En studie av skolbibliotekariens betydelse för unga elevers läs- och språkutveckling / Does the school librarian make any difference? A study of the school librarian’s impact on the reading and linguistic development of young pupils

Karlsson, Petra, Roxling, Tuija January 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate• how a professional librarian can support the work with pupils, age six to twelve years, in their reading and linguistic development• how the conditions at the school have to be for this to become possible• what kind of attitudes the teachers have, and how they relate to the impact of a librarian for the pupils reading and linguistic development. The methods used are analyses of steering documents concerning school libraries and analyses of the means of the local school culture. The latter has been carried out by literature studies and through interviews of eight teachers and two school librarians. The result of the interviews showed a limited insight into how a professional librarian can support and assist teachers and pupils in the work with reading and linguistic development. They also showed the influence of existing traditions and local school culture for the use of a librarian’s services, and also how all the teachers, once they have become used to the services a librarian can provide, now find their support invaluable. Our final conclusions are that Swedish schools today easily can choose to rationalize school library activities, including to renounce the engagement of a professional librarian. The documents that govern the school activities allow great potential for school leaders and/or school politicians to encourage good library activities with a professional librarian. But this potential can be jeopardized by the teachers involved and their attitudes towards the usefulness of a professional librarian. The attitudes seem to originate from local traditions, and a lack of knowledge about the librarians´ competence. We found this a matter of not knowing what to demand – once experienced you know its benefits. / Uppsatsnivå: D

Informationskompetens som mål i högskoleutbildningen : Inställning hos ledning, lärare och bibliotekarier vid en mindre högskola / Information literacy standards in higher education : Attitudes among management, teachers and librarians within a university college

Ekenberg, Anna January 2007 (has links)
The aim of this Master thesis is to study how management, teachers and librarians at the university college Swedish school of sport and health sciences (GIH) view information literacy (IL) as a standard in higher education. I have used a sociocultural theoretical perspective, as the focus being on co-operation within the institutional context. The following questions are focused on: Of what importance are the control documents concerning IL as a standard in the educational program? How do the respondents view the value of, and the responsibility for, IL as a standard in the educational program? What are the conditions for co-operation at GIH to reach the standards of the higher education act? The methodology used is qualitative case study. Six qualitative interviews were carried out in order to describe the attitudes of the management, teachers and librarians related to this subject. Qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the interviews. The results show that the respondents regard facilities and control documents as important tools for improving the schools strategies to meet IL standards. Improved co-operation between staff and improved IL among teachers, as well as embedding IL in subject courses, was seen as important factors for future development of students’ IL. My conclusion is that it, with a sociocultural perspective, is possible to create adequate prerequisites for learning, where students are seen as responsible for their own education, and where the focus is on preparing students for working life. / Uppsatsnivå: D

Skolbibliotekarier och elever med dyslexi : en studie om några skolbibliotekariers upplevelser av sitt arbete och samarbete om en marginaliserad användargrupp / School librarians and pupils with dyslexia : a study of a number of school librarians’ experiences of their work and cooperation concerning a marginalized group

Bohlin, Karolina, Hellsberg, Helena January 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to contribute to the understanding of the work of school librarians with pupils with dyslexia. In addition, the study investigates the cooperation between school librarians and pedagogues concerning the pupils with dyslexia. The two theoretical points of departure are: theory of profession and a model of cooperation built upon Louise Limberg’s and Lena Folkesson’s three categories of librarians’ experiences of cooperation with teachers. Qualitative semi- structured interviews with eight qualified librarians constitute the empirical material. The empirical material has been analysed both descriptively and theoretically. The major findings are that school librarians regard their competence, when working with pupils with dyslexia, to be the knowledge of literature and technical means of assistance. They understand their role to be mediating and consulting as they connect the library resources with the pupil or the pedagogue. The lack of academically achieved knowledge is experienced as an obstacle when working with dyslectic pupils and limits the cooperation with both teachers and special education teachers. A shift in the behaviour of school librarians is recognized as they tend to renounce their jurisdictional claims concerning information seeking and book-matching in a greater extent towards the special educationalist than to the teacher. Another result is that the school librarian experiences the attitude of the pupil with dyslexia as the most important factor conditioning their work. The understanding is that it is nearly impossible to aid a person who does not want to be helped or who fails to recognize his handicap. / Uppsatsnivå: D

Föräldrasamverkan : med fokus på elevens kunskapsutveckling och läxor inom ämnet matematik / Mathematics in school : parent cooperation with a focus on students’ knowledge development and homework

Andersson, Josefin, Knutsson, Isabella January 2009 (has links)

To share and distribute information. A study with focus on literary scholars.

Engström, Jeanette January 2010 (has links)
The aim of this Bachelor’s thesis is to obtain understanding and knowledge about how literary scholars collaborate regarding information. Seven scholars have been studied in the aim to find out social and cultural elements which create particular prerequisites for their practice, with focus on information sharing. The method used has consisted of semi-structured interviews. The informants have been studied from a socio cultural and domain analysis starting point, which means that they are studied in the light of being members in their practice. The result of the study has shown that information sharing is not limited to any specific type of information. Different types of information are for example reviews and book tips. Collaboration regarding information considerable occurs in informal situations, for example at the time of lunch and in spontaneous conversations. Formal situations consist of conferences and seminars. Another situation of collaboration is supervision. The most useful communication resource is e-mail. To obtain this information my key questions are formulated about collaboration regarding information, such as types of information, situations and communication resources. The earlier studies which are used in this thesis were chosen by the author in an initial phase, and then the work went on with the interviews. The analysis and discussion led then to my conclusions I show in the summary and also in brevity in this section.

Informationskompetens : En undersökning om högstadielärares och skolbibliotekariers uppfattningar / Information literacy : A study of the views of teachers and school librarians.

Kero, Lise-Lotte, Selegran, Karin January 2011 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine how teachers and school librarians view the concept of information literacy in relation to their students, and to find factors that affect their undertakings to make their students information literate. In order to accomplish this, qualitative interviews have been carried out with teachers and school librarians at four Swedish junior high schools. The theoretical framework of this study is the seven faces of information literacy developed by Christine Bruce. The empirical material has been analysed firstly by finding themes that are of importance for the work with information literacy, and secondly by placing the interviewees’ commentaries on information literacy in Bruce´s seven faces of information literacy. This in order to be able to compare the two groups and find what differences and similarities there are. The study implies that factors such as the views of information literacy, the way to perform teaching, the division of responsibilities, the collaboration situation and the views of the students have impact on how well the students are able to develop information literacy. The study also implies that teachers and school librarians theoretically have much the same views on these issues, but that practice shows that there are differences. The study also implies that there are changes that can be made to improve the situation, and among them are mutual planning for librarians and teachers, incorporating the teaching of information literacy with subject teaching, and more focus on the role of the school library. / Program: Bibliotekarie

Bibliotekarier och biblioteksassistenter. Två yrkesgrupper som krockar? / Librarians and library support staff. Two occupational groups colliding?

Lindvall, Olof, Meyer, Sarah January 2008 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the relationship between librarians and library support staff in public libraries regarding status, distribution of work and working climate. We were interested to know if there is a conflict between the two occupational groups and how it can be explained. We also wanted to learn what the future holds for the library in terms of professional categories and tasks according to library staff of today. This study is based on twelve qualitative interviews with four heads of libraries, four librarians and four library assistants. Three theoretical approaches were used in the analysis of the interview material: professionalization strategies, conflict theories and theories from group psychology. The results indicate that librarians consider library assistants as a group with low self-esteem and reluctant to change, and uninterested in further education. Library assistants find librarians to be individualists who ignore rules and regulations at the circulation desk. A national education for library assistants is by some respondents considered a good thing, by some necessary for the survival of the library support staff and is by some considered a half measure. Several of our respondents believe that library assistants gradually will disappear from the library in favour of professional categories with a university education. Crossing each other’s territory boundaries causes tension between the two occupational groups and is a source of conflict. / Uppsatsnivå: D

Inte bara barnpassning : en kvantitativ studie om föräldrars syn på förskolan och dess läroplan / So much more than just babysitting : a quantitative study of how parents view preschool and its curriculum

Berggren, Sofia, Ekstorm, Linda, Hansson, Sandra January 2010 (has links)

The learning co-operation : between “Angered’s culture schools” and compulsory schools

Hedberg Petersson, Bodil January 2010 (has links)
This master is a study of the co-operation between "Angered’s culture schools" and compulsory schools. In many reports of today one can see that there is a lack of co-operation between compulsory school and other cultural institutions. This master aims to study a “good example” to see what makes it successful in the terms of organizational conditions, profession, authority and legitimacy as well as knowledge creation. The theoretical frames are Folkesson’s (2004) theory of the dimensions of co-operation and Nonaka’s theory (1995) of knowledge creation. The result is based on four interviews with leaders and teachers, together with an analysis of written documents. My results show that the success in this studied example is related to organizational conditions, profession, authority, legitimacy and knowledge creation in many ways.
