Caleidoscópicas subversões e resistências lesbianas em Campina Grande – PB.

PORFÍRIO, Rafaella dos Santos . 26 July 2018 (has links)

This study has as main objective the investigation of the complexity of codes of identification and sociabilities established by lesbian women in a bar in the city of Campina Grande, interior of Paraíba. The establishment in question, called Cantinho JJ, is today the only public bar mainly composed by lesbians in the city. Its history is also inspired by a lesbian circuit that existed between bars in the mid-1970s and 1990s in the municipality, briefly presented in this writing. The problematizations and concepts that give rise to our reflections on the questions related to the limitations of the identity categories, experiences and sexualities of our interlocutors are based on discursively constructed notions about the production of truths about sex and the determination of heteronormativity as a political regime that goes beyond the scope of sexual and gender relations. We seek to understand to what extent the interlocutors of this work subjectivate, subvert and reiterate the dictates of “straight” normativity. To that end, we anchored ourselves in provocations by, among others, Michel Foucault and Judith Butler. In order to reflect on the spaces covered and observed in the field work, we used the concepts of piece, path and circuit, coined by the Brazilian anthropologist José G. C. Magnani. The data were obtained from the interactions provided by the participant observation in Cantinho JJ, recorded in field diary, as well as through interviews, which, among other things, point simultaneously to different approaches and distances with theoretical and activist utterances, especially with regard to conceptions of identity and visibility. From the research and analysis carried out, we infer that the way in which the group studied deals with sexuality and visibility, diverges, in terms of claim, from the discourses of some lesbofeminismos. In addition, we perceive subversions by interlocutors engendered within inevitably contradictory contexts, so that they transgress the constructs of heterosexuality and reiterate the dictates of heteronormativity, often in the same movement.

Cardoso, Helma de Melo 20 June 2016 (has links)
This work has as main goal to analyze how the thematic areas of the body, gender and sexuality are being introduced in the formative practices of degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology in Sergipe - IFS/Campus Aracaju. A methodological proposal from the post-critical perspective was built, leaving the normative research and aiming to show that the social phenomena are multiple and heterogeneous. The instruments used were the documental analysis of the Institutional Pedagogical Political Project (IPPP) and Pedagogical Projects of the Courses (PPC) for degrees in Mathematics and Chemistry of IFS, a semi structured interview with the professor at the discipline of Education and Diversity and Focus Group, with the participation of five undergraduate students from the last year of courses. As results, it was possible to infer that the official documents of the degrees expose positive and negative aspects. As a positive point, it offers a discipline with the theme of diversity and also a theoretical concept that presents notions of gender inequalities. And as negative aspect, the silence regarding the normalization of bodies and sexualities is highlighted. Regarding the representations of the students, it was found that are crossed by medical, biological and religious discourses, which are pervaded by heteronormativity, strengthening the dichotomous view of body, gender and sexuality, but also conceptions marked by contradictions and upheavals. It was evident that had no contact with the subject during the degree course, in an official way, as content, debates and issues, but the curriculum of these degrees is not exempted from the issue because it is crossed, in a naturalized and silently way, by normative speeches about gender and sexuality, binary, homophobic discourses, which bring a dichotomous logic of genres. And that these future teachers, for not having discussions about the theme in the initial training, will lead possibly to the teaching practice the reproduction of sexist knowledge and gendered curriculum.

The interlocution of this document with the rest produced by the same author - books, reports, among others - evidenced a egocentric personality, which in an ingenious way built up a heroic image for themselves. Legitimized by their peers, by historiography and especially the imperial regime, Couto enters the pages of history as the great hero of the War of Paraguay. But if in public boasted an image of strong and courageous man, in his diary brought out moments of anguish and fears, above all when was considering the possibility of becoming ill. Furthermore, her writing secret also reveals a look interpretive and original about your oneiric universe - soaked a homoerotic desire - challenger in relation to moral values of the nineteenth century.

Thinking about the discursive construction of the subject and its relationship with self, pleasures and discoveries, I propose the question: what processes of subjectivity, gender relations and sexuality are present in physical education classes, maintaining a dialogue between teacher education and practice in schools through the discipline of Supervised BSc. I bring the inspiration for Michel Foucault as a tool to question and discuss the knowledge of me approaching post-structuralist perspective in which the discourses are understood as social and historical construction. My interest is the knowledge about the conditions graduating teacher in a process stage in the construction of subject is involved in the learning experienced in social and historical trajectory. I discuss issues of gender and sexuality to the formation of a physical education teacher and actions in schools. I point elements to think about the teaching knowledge pluralized, discussing teacher development, both personal and professional. For data collection the survey observations were made, and daily field reports as foci of research both in lessons of discipline Internship practices as schools, concerned with what is built in the discourses of school and on the banks of the university to the issues gender and sexuality. In this sense, a point highlighted was the investment in contextualizing and questions in the process of training, the trainees who took the known places where the training stage is associated with certainties. The research aims to contribute to the reflective path of education in order to increase the sense of subjectivities, gender and sexuality in teacher education and its relationships with schools.

In light of the Paris and Montreal cases

Prieur, Cha 11 December 2015 (has links)
This thesis is a contribution to the geographies of sexualities and more specifically to queer geographies. It first seeks to understand how queer places are created by the many ways they are defined, though of, and organized in their rhizomatic pattern. Self-defined queer people have indeed a tendency to create places through the gathering of an array of persons who are connected by a particular relationship to gender, sexuality, as well as by the political component of the queer discourse. Focusing next on the “milieux de vie” that emerged from this loose network of places, the research looks at the systematic violence exerted against queer people in the public and private space. This phenomenon is seen and explained through a set of norms and domination patterns occurring at different levels and scales in society. Violence within the communities is finally studied. The author concludes in examining and in offering a critic of the concept of safe space, which lay the ground for the proposal of the construction of espaces bienveillants (derived from the concept of brave place). The study was conducted through participant observations, auto-ethnographic method, on-line surveys and direct conversations. Reflexivity was at the center of the field work, the author insists most notably on the emotional work researcher faces in this type of research.

The rise and fall of Seigneur Dildoe: the figure of the dildo in restoration literature and culture

Friesen, Sandra A. 23 January 2017 (has links)
Seigneur Dildoe, as this dissertation will contend, was a fixture in Restoration literature and culture (1660-1700). But what was his provenance, by what means did he travel, and why did he come? This dissertation provides a literary history of the fascinating and highly irreverent dildo satire tradition, tracing the dildo satire’s long and winding progress from antiquity to Restoration England, where the tradition reached its early modern zenith. Adding breadth, context, and texture to existing treatments of the trope’s political and sexual potency, this dissertation investigates the dildo satire’s roots in both Greek comedy (Aristophanes, Herodas) and Latin invective (Martial, Juvenal), its influential association in early modern Italy with Catholicism and monastic life (Aretino), and its introduction in early modern England (Nashe), where it cropped up in the works of a surprising number of literary giants (Shakespeare, Jonson, Donne, Marvell). In Restoration England, we find in the satiric dildos of Butler, Rochester, and the contextually rich “Seigneur Dildoe” articulations of a dildo gone viral: the mock-heroic Seigneur deployed as a politically central motif symptomatic of its society’s acute patriarchal fissures. Throughout I argue that the dildo satire’s longevity is due not to a uniformity of purpose or signification (misogynist, anti-Catholic, emasculating, or otherwise), but to its innate versatility and ambiguity as a fugitive sexual and political figure. I also argue that what does in fact unite the satiric dildo’s variety of contingent ends, against what has been assumed in the scholarship, is its status as a markedly anti-Phallic figure. / Graduate / 2018-01-09 / 0401 / 0733 / missmenno.sf@gmail.com

Le personnage métis, une figure hybride ? Identité sexuelle et identité raciale dans la littérature des Amériques / The « Métis » Character : Sexual and Racial Identity in Literature of the Americas

Bourse, Alexandra 02 December 2013 (has links)
The theory of intersectionnality - resulting from « Black feminism » - is a precious concept to analyze the domination experienced by the « métis » characters as intersectionnal experiments in which power struggles based on race, sex and class are inextricably mixed. Incarnating interracial relations perceived as essentially violent the mestizo/mulatto characters are interpreted by a society which tries to subsume them into preset racial and sexual categories. This crispation of the thought is what we are interested in.Key words: postcolonial studies; genre/gender; sexualities; queer theory; mestizaje/ miscegenation; identity; intersectional analysis.

This is a qualitative research, of an interventionist nature, within the framework of an academic master's degree, within the group of Research in Educational Practices and Attention to the Family, School and Community (Ecofam), of the Graduate Program in Educational Psychology PUC-SP. Its main objective is to intervene and investigate the psychoeducational processes related to gender and sexuality, with regard to the LGBTQ theme, in the public school. The specific objectives are: (I) Participate in the psychoeducational processes related to the theme gender, sexuality, in the LGBTQ perspective, together with two instances: students and professionals responsible for the education of the students and for the formation of the school; (II) Co-construct a place in the school where this theme can be discussed. With a methodology that dialogues existential phenomenology and feminist proposals of knowledge construction, we intend to analyze our intervention, fruit of a year and a half of face-to-face work with teachers and adolescents of EMEF, organized in experiences reports constellated in the paradigm of the hermeneutical circle. The constellations found are: (I) Morro Grande adolescents: reflections on adolescence; who are the LGBTQ teenagers; humiliation and families from the teen perspective; (II) The educators of Morro Grande: reflections on educators; who are the LGBTQs who appear in the research in a psychoeducational context; humiliation and violence regarding school practices; (III) In search of a conclusive route to intervention - resignificances in the discourse of adolescents and teachers; analysis of what potentiates the intervention or not. The results point to: (I) discrepancies between adolescents and the concept of adolescence created by the psychoeducational discourse, being that the latter invisibilizes the former; (II) the school, among other institutions, exerts, by means of “straightterrorist” acts, violence on people who do not fit into the order constructed by the "Straight Mind"; (III) reflective attitudes, coconstructed in the community’s terms, have proved potent in the re-signification of the meanings of the themes surrounding the LGBTQ population, which, in turn, is increasingly in a condition of vulnerability and exclusion in the context exposed. Who is going to talk about and with the LGBTQ youth in public school?

Seeking Friends With Benefits In A Tourism-Based Sexual Economy: Interrogating The Gambian Sexscape

jaiteh, Mariama 20 March 2018 (has links)
This dissertation engages with the driving motivations behind the actions of all those involved in The Gambia’s tourism-based sexual economy: the Gambian and other West African male and female sex workers, the Global North (habitually European) male and female tourists, the Gambian and expatriate Lebanese bar and restaurant owners, the Gambian state, and the semesters (members of the Gambian diaspora on vacation in The Gambia). It presents thick ethnographic accounts of interactions with Gambians and tourists, as they form temporary couples or friendships for the duration of tourists’ vacations, and sometimes for longer. This ethnography-rich dissertation pays careful attention to Gambian voices, which have been somewhat marginalized in the limited literature on sex tourism in The Gambia. It theorizes the existence of a Gambian sexscape, within which socio-sexual scripts are performed. The socio-sexual scripts that make the Gambian tourism-based sexual economy are re-located within Gambian society’s larger sexscape, which allows for a better consideration of the wider socio-economic, cultural, and political processes that have led to the formation of contemporary Gambian society. The dissertation briefly outlines The Gambia’s political and economic history, which explains the ongoing economic dependency and the importance of emigration for contemporary Gambian youth who want to escape the abject poverty in which too many live. It proposes a descriptive analysis of the Gambian sexscape and its socio-sexual scripts. Greater precision is given to the socio-sexual scripts that make the tourism-based sexual economy: chanters and white Global North female tourists; Gambian female sex workers and white Global North male tourists; Gambian men who have sex with Gambian men/semesters, and/or with white Global North male tourists. Finally, I adopt a socio-ecological approach to sexual health and examine the tourism-based sexual economy’ s impact on the country’s sexual health.
