Previous issue date: 2017-03-07 / Não recebi financiamento / The care work comprises a very heterogeneous field of the third sector. The constitution and motivation to carry out this activity is linked by many authors to religious aspects, throughout history. However, the scope of religion in the segment of non-governmental institutions that practice care activities is quite broad and still unknown in certain aspects. Considering this context, the research that generated this dissertation had as its objective the study of the political-assistance plot of the Edmilson Foundation located in Taquaritinga-SP, founded and led by a former soccer player who worked abroad and was a five-time world champion: José Edmilson Gomes de Moraes. The investigative work involved: bibliographical review; Information gathering on social networks, newspapers and news portals; And semi-structured interviews with members of the foundation. It sought to evaluate how the aspects arising from other social fields and components of the care work present in this organization, led by an evangelical athlete with an international reputation, were developed.

This study focus on the role of the Social worker in Primary Assistance Health in Juiz de Fora - Minas Gerais concerning to: its organization, development, objective and used tools, the main object and work conditions. Emergence and future status of youth work : perspectives of social service professionals in South AfricaHlagala, Ramadimetje Bernice 14 October 2012 (has links)
With Youth work being one of the key interventions used to advance the development of young people, through this study, the researcher takes a closer look at how Youth work can be enhanced to ensure its maximised contribution to empowerment and development of young people. On that basis, the researcher investigates the perceptions, attitudes, and opinions of social service professionals towards emergence and future status of Youth work practice in South Africa. This is essential, given that policy directions ought to be guided by rational, fact-based information. The researcher used two-phased sequential mixed methods research approach, which combines qualitative and quantitative methods in sequence, to explore the research phenomenon. Qualitative data was gathered from four (4) focus groups, conducted in each of the selected South Africa’s provinces. Quantitative data was gathered from five hundred and ninety-three (593) respondents who completed a measuring instrument. Some of the key empirical findings suggested that the social development factors compared to human resources and diversion factors are key drivers behind emergence of Youth work. Therefore, there is a need to ensure that interventions primarily and consequently enhance the social functioning of young people. On the current status of Youth work, a significant majority of respondents indicated that Youth work is the responsibility of a multi-disciplinary team. The evidence also pointed to Youth workers being more skilled than Social workers and Child youth care workers in rendering services to the youth. Additionally, the findings showed that the involvement of social service professionals in Youth work was mainly in collaborating with other professionals when rendering Youth work services, and also in direct service delivery. Their involvement in policy development was to no extent. This was associated with a limited number of Youth workers in the public sector. The findings on perceptions of social service professionals regarding the future status of Youth work showed that 75% of the respondents believe that Youth work should become an area of specialisation for Social work and/or Child and youth care work; followed by 17% who are of the opinion that it should remain as an occupation; whilst only 8% said it should be an autonomous profession. Additionally, an overwhelming majority of the respondents agreed with all statements which were listed as advantages or benefits of having Youth work recognised as an area of specialisation or a profession. On the basis of these findings, the researcher recommended that young people’s problems and aspirations should be addressed within their social contexts; there is a need to ensure that interventions primarily enhance the social functioning of young people; there is a need to have Youth work as an area of specialisation for Social work and/or Child and youth care work; and there is a need to create additional capacity to provide services to the youth, especially in government as a policy making structure. It is essential to note that the support for specialisation supports South Africa’s approach to mainstreaming youth development across various sectors. It could also be seen as a clear indication of the positive role and value placed on Youth work, and the potential contribution it might have should it become an area of specialisation for Social work and/or Child and youth care work. / Thesis (DPhil)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / Social Work and Criminology / unrestricted

Exploring gender division of labour within households: the case of Schoemansdal Village in Nkomazi Local Municipality, Mpumalanga Province, South AfricaShabangu, Busi Florence 18 May 2018 (has links)
MGS / Institute for Gender and Youth Studies / One of the most pressing issues contributing to the persistence of gender inequality is the gendered division of domestic labour. Women still carry out more domestic labour than men. Housework is shared quite unequally among most married couples. Work performed directly in the service of families including housework and childcare is often unacknowledged all over the world because of cultural assumptions that a wife or mother should work in the privacy of the home. This study adds extra depth to the doing gender approach by testing whether or not couple negotiate specific conjugal and parent roles in terms of the division of household labour. This study therefore seeks to discuss numerous variables that impact the division of household labour between men and women. This study suggests that patriarchal power structures seem to take a powerful and effective impact on the South African marriage institution, especially in the black communities. The study was therefore conducted in Schoemansdal village situated in Nkomazi region, Mpumalanga Province. To explore issues behind gender division of labour within households. The study embarked on a qualitative research design to collect and analyze the data. Samples of married men and married women were selected in this study. The findings of the study are as follows: Women do a disproportionate share of the housework, even when the women work and the men don‟t, and even when the women want to share the housework more equally. When men aren‟t working, they don‟t see domestic labour as a means of contributing. In fact, they double down and do less of it, since it challenges their masculinity. But when men earn more, women who are almost all working too, feel obliged to contribute in some way to maintaining the household, generally by cooking and cleaning. / NRF

[en] IT S NOT LOVE, BUT UNPAID WORK: AN ANALYSIS OF WOMEN IN CARE WORK / [pt] NÃO É AMOR, É TRABALHO NÃO PAGO: UMA ANÁLISE SOBRE MULHERES NO TRABALHO DO CUIDADOCLAUDIA DE OLIVEIRA VICENTE 22 January 2024 (has links)
Busca
capitalista sob as novas morfologias do trabalho; compreender as abordagens
trabalho do cuidado.
trabalho do cuidado.
escolaridade, localidade, condição no domicílio, atividades desenvolvidas,
Explicitam a dinâmica do trabalho do cuidado no período estudado, permitindo
observar aspectos da divisão sociossexual e racial do trabalho. / [en] This dissertation aims to analyze the centrality of work in the demands of
care and social reproduction within the framework of capitalist society,
considering the dimensions of gender-race-class in care work. It seeks to delve
deeper into the dilemmas of reproductive work in the context of capitalist society
under the new morphologies of work, understand the approaches to reproductive
work in Marxist feminist theories, and analyze the impacts of different forms of
exploitation-oppression of women in the field of care work. The guiding question
of this research is that care work, as it is mostly carried out by women, is not
treated in much of the classical literature as work. Considering the historical
determinants of gender-race-class exploitation-oppression, women are led to
experience more deeply the conditions of subalternization and feminization of
poverty, which is intensified with their greater presence in care work. The
methodology used was bibliographical research on paid/unpaid care work in
domestic spaces and data produced by the Continuous National Household
Sample Survey (Continuous PNAD) of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and
Statistics (IBGE) between 2017 and 2022, period in which the annual reports were
made available. The data collected shows the insertion of women in care work
with details of race, age, education, location, status at home, activities carried out,
remuneration and working conditions (whether or not they have a formal
contract). They explain the dynamics of care work in the period studied, allowing
us to observe aspects of the sociosexual and racial division of work.

[pt] CONFLITO TRABALHO-FAMÍLIA E INTERSECCIONALIDADE: EXPERIÊNCIAS ARTICULADAS DE MULHERES EM CIRCUITOS DE CUIDADO INFANTIL / [en] WORK-FAMILY CONFLICT AND INTERSECTIONALITY: ARTICULATED EXPERIENCES OF WOMEN IN CHILD CARE CIRCUITSPAULA FURTADO H DE Q MONTEIRO 03 October 2024 (has links)
impactam o bom desempenho organizacional e, diante disso, criticar a lógica
cuidado. / [en] This thesis aimed to understand, through an intersectional thematic narrative analysis, the experiences of work-family reconciliation of the different women who make up child care circuits. To achieve this objective, interviews were carried out with four women who provide home care, paid or unpaid, to children aged 0 to 6 years old and who are part of the different links of a care circuit. To analyze the statements collected, the reflective thematic narrative analysis method, proposed by Braun and Clarke (2022), was used, along with an analytical model of intersectional narrative, suggested by the author of this study. The results found were presented in three major themes: 1) Individual Peculiarities Inserted in Social Conjunctures of Oppression; 2) Configurations and Strategies in a Care Circuit; and 3) Work-Family Conflict and Intersectionality in Care Work. Faced with the analysis of a heterogeneous profile of interviewees, initially, the individual peculiarities of each one were presented, and they collaborated to give visibility to the social context, which was the backdrop for the analysis of the other major themes. Next, the analysis of the configurations of the care circuit (Guimarães, 2020) researched demonstrated the intertwining of the different interactions that constitute the child care structure - highlighting who carries out the care activity, what meaning they attribute to work, what type of relationship social is stipulated for carrying out the work (commercial or non-commercial) and what form of retribution (monetary or not) is involved in this relationship. It was identified that the different social relationships that are woven into the organization of child care ensure that women who are mothers and who work outside the home can reconcile their care and professional demands. In this sense, it was found that dependent on care work is not only the child who is cared for, but also those who depend on care work carried out by other people to work. Furthermore, this study confirms that it is poor black women who carry out the majority of care work in Brazil. In relation to the results of the third major theme, Work-Family Conflict and Intersectionality in Care Work, the individual reasons that lead interviewees to experience work-family conflict were demonstrated, which were grouped into three themes: 1) The Accumulation of Activities and the Feeling of Guilt; 2) Barriers to Family Life; and 3) Obstacles Linked to Paid Work. These themes emerged based on previous reading on the subject, but two subthemes were revealed afterwards. They are: 1) Affections and Disaffections with the Paid Care Worker, which highlighted the conflicts experienced by the employer in relation to the professional care worker, which impact her professional life; and 2) Disagreements and the Effects of Informal Work, referring to the conflicts experienced by domestic workers that affect their family life and demonstrate the lack of appreciation and recognition of this job. The analysis of intersectional thematic narratives allowed us to identify, in a relational way, the different power relations that are present in a care circuit, which shape the way in which the diverse women who make up it balance the demands of work and family. In this way, it was found that patriarchy, racism and economic inequality are interconnected factors that privilege certain groups to the detriment of others and keep the exploitation of care workers (paid or unpaid) alive. By unveiling this complex relationship that is established invisibly to those who look, but is present to those who experience it, the possible causes of the creation and maintenance of social inequalities are highlighted and it becomes possible to initiate a process of social justice. In this sense, the present study sought to contribute: 1) to organizations, work relations and gender studies, by analyzing the experiences of different women who carry out care activities in their daily lives, the social relationships in which they engage and that allow them to engage in the labor market, the factors that generate the work-family conflict experienced by them and that impact good organizational performance and, in light of this, criticize the dominant patriarchal logic responsible for maintaining the sexual division of labor; and 2) for society, with a greater understanding of the unequal experiences lived by these women, raising awareness about the role of individual, organizational and State relationships in the organization of care and their impact on the appropriation of work time and energy of women. women. Finally, the study sought to clarify the necessary provision of public services, such as: public daycare centers, social protection and access to social security for housewives, and guaranteeing rights that prevent the exploitation of domestic and care work.

Genuspedagogers berättelser om makt och kontrollArvidson, Catarina January 2014 (has links)
In this thesis 14 gender pedagogues’ stories about power and control are described and analysed. Here the term gender pedagogue refers to educators who have participated in further training in gender and gender equality studies. The training programme was the result of an initiative taken by the former Social Democratic government. The intention of the government was that those who participated in the training programme would then work as resource persons in the work for gender equality in preschools and schools (Frånberg, 2010; Regeringen, 2001a, 2001b; Wahlgren, 2009). The purpose of this study is to describe and analyse the gender pedagogues’ access to power and control in work for change. The theoretical framework chosen for the study consists of Basil Bernsteins concepts classification and framing (Bernstein, 1977, 2000) and Hildur Ve’s (1999a, 1999b) use of the concepts technical limited rationality and care work rationality. The empirical evidence is based on observations in a seminar series on gender issues and semi-structured interviews. The results of the interviews are presented as stories which have been created in the interplay between the gender pedagogues and the interviewer. One conclusion that can be drawn from the stories is that power relations and gender patterns on many different levels influenced the possibilities of the gender pedagogues for power and control. Power and control in the relation between technical limited rationality and care work rationality is expressed in different ways. It is seen in the possibilities and descriptions of resistance and difficulties. Resistance and difficulties depended, according to the gender pedagogues, on the differences between their own view of knowledge and that of others. If gender and gender equality was not considered to be an important area of knowledge, possibilities for power and control decreased.

Kompetensfrågan inom äldreomsorgen : Hur uppfattningar om kompetens formar omsorgsarbetet, omsorgsbehoven och omsorgsrelationenElmersjö, Magdalena January 2014 (has links)
This dissertation examines how perceptions of competence affect the care of older persons, and the values and vocational conceptions of care work and care recipients that are tied to the perceptions of what skills that are needed and why. Competence is defined by three parts with relevance for the content of care work: what knowledge the care workers should have, what tasks they should perform and how they should respond to care recipients. The aim of this dissertation is to analyse how the care managers' and care workers' perceptions of competence form the direction of the care work and how that direction relates to the care recipients’ perceptions of and expectations on the care work. The care work is characterised by what is analysed as an activation of the recipients - that the recipients themselves should perform as much of the care work as possible. The activation aims at managing the decay of the aging body and is motivated by a vocational conception of the care recipients as different from others, with designations as grateful and passive. This conception is analysed as generation character based on an idea among the care managers and care workers that the society in which the recipients grew up gave them certain cognitive prerequisites that have to be managed in the practical care work. The care recipients in the study have opposing conceptions and perceptions of care work compared with the care managers and care workers. The recipients’ central objective with the care work is to prevent what has been interpreted as the disrepair of the home. The care recipients’ position in the organisation raises the problem of loyalty towards the care workers and in some sense the care managers. Their loyalty reduces their ability to complain and to influence their situation to the better. Keywords: care of older persons, care needs, care work, care relationship, care receivers, care workers, care managers, competence, technologies, activation, generation character
