Les modèles effectifs de type Nambu—Jona-Lasinio (NJL) peuvent être utilisés pour étudier les phases à densité et température finies de la chromodynamique quantique (QCD). Alors que les prédictions de ces modèles effectifs peuvent être comparées avec les résultats sur réseaux aux faibles densités, un tel garde-fou n'existe pas à plus haute densité où la discrétisation fait face à un problème de signe sévère. Dans cette thèse nous proposons une méthode systématique permettant de calculer la stabilité d'une prédiction par rapport aux données d'entrée du modèle. De cette manière un critère quantitatif est fabriqué permettant d'évaluer le pouvoir prédictif d'un modèle. La discussion est principalement orientée sur le point critique chiral.Enfin les phases très hautes densités, telles que pouvant exister à l'intérieur des étoiles compactes, sont abordées et la superconductivité de couleur est discutée dans le cadre des modèles NJL / Nambu--Jona-Lasinio models can be used to study finite density and finite temperature quantum chromodynamics phases. Finite temperature and low density predictions of these models can be compared to lattice results. Such a comparison is not possible at larger density because of the so called sign problem. In this thesis the proposed systematic method allows to compute the stability of a prediction with respect to the inputs of the model. In this way a quantitative criterium is constructed which can be used to evaluate the predictive power of the studied model. Finally the high density phases which can exist in the interior of compact stellar objects are discussed along with color superconductivity in NJL type models

Kan regional påverkan från Danmark förklara Sverigedemokraternas valframgångar i Skåne? / Can Danish experience explain why Sverigedemokraterna had a higher support among voters in Skåne, than among other Swedish voters?

The key question of this essay concerns the outcome of Sweden’s latest election. When all the votes where counted, the county of Skåne showed an exceptionally high support for the right wing nationalist party Sverigedemokraterna. Why then, did Sverigedemokraterna have a higher support among voters in Skåne (as part of the larger and transnational Öresund region), than among other Swedish voters? My hypothesis is the following: the regional interaction within Öresund has not only had positive effects concerning the values that the people of Skåne hold. In other words, Danish experience has changed the way in which the people of Skåne view immigrants and radical right wing parties. Before I go on any further I will explain what is meant by the Öresund region. This region encompasses both parts of Sweden and Denmark (most notably Skåne and Själland), and the interaction between the two countries have increased considerably since a physical bridge between the two border regions was opened in July 2000. Now, let us go on to the purpose of this essay, which is to answer the key question, and also to determine if the regional cooperation in the Öresund region has led to changes in the way the people of Skåne view right wing nationalist parties. Therefore, I explored the effects of the interaction between the Swedish region Skåne and the Danish region Själland, in order to discern if the Danes negative views towards immigrants and their strong feelings of nationalism, have effected Swedes and their values. In other words, was it possible that the Danish hostility towards immigrants and their unproblematic view of right wing nationalist parties, had been transmitted to the people of Skåne? Last but not least, it has also been the purpose of this essay to prove that traditional variables, concerning the question of why people vote for right wing nationalist parties, do no longer explain this phenomenon. By traditional variables I mean unemployment and a high density of immigrants of the population in a specific area. In order to research the above mentioned issues, I have gone through letters to the editor, sent to the newspaper Sydsvenskan, and analysed the material using qualitative text analysis. I have also studied literature within the field of cross-border studies. After ten weeks of research, I came to the conclusion that the traditional variables do not explain why Sverigedemokraterna received such a high proportion of the votes in Skåne. However, this essay also sheds light on the possibility of Danish experience as a plausible variable when it comes to explaining the outcome of the last election, but based on my limited study I can neither confirm nor dismiss the hypothesis. However, my study does provide some evidence that supports the hypothesis. In order to draw any conclusions however, it would have to be broadened in itself and replicated in other sections of Sweden or nationally. The results of my study might leave the key question unanswered, but in itself can be viewed as an important step towards obtaining a clearer overview of what has driven the increased vote share for Sverigedemokraterna.

The diploma project designs architectural study of Intensive Urban Housing in the city of Brno, district Veveří. Its proposed a building of complex form on vacant site desined by Veveří, Kounicova, Pekárenská and Sokolská Streets which used to be a military grounds. Intensive Urban Housing includes wide community amenities and dwelling for different social groups. As it is located on within walking distance to services which makes the complex self-sufficient, the transport demands are reduced. The proposal works with differentiation of public space, main buildings volumes and facade arrangement that create a lovely city environment and new atractive location in the city of Brno.

Kompaktní formy bydlení / Compact Forms of Housing

"The compact forms of housing" is a term with which the Czech interior design yet do not often occur. This concept densely built low-rise residential files yet carries a strong potential not only in matters of mere living, but also offers one of the progressive alternative ways of living environment in general. Examined form of residential buildings is becoming increasingly important especially in specific situations where conventional housing is failing and instead generates other social problems. This thesis is primarily seeking the maximum extent available to document the issue of a compact housing, describe its basic form and point out the historical roots of this typology. The acquired knowledge was then subjected to an in-depth analysis, the output of which is to be the most comprehensive characterization researched the topic and its inclusion in the context of the standard forms of housing. The result is a set of research information, assumptions and typological bases that determine the primary urban, architectural, or social limits of the residential category. This work attempts to take into account the specified topic in the broader context of housing as a basic human need. As a result of findings would be its contribution to the culture scene in our home and create a theoretical material that would become an essential information base for creating compact residential files. The conclusions of this research can be further developed, tested and refined in the educational process at the faculties of architecture or in the practice. The results of research could stimulate interest in this type of housing and contribute to the enrichment of Czech housing scene of a synthetic form, which will form the connecting link between the typological family house and an apartment building. Low-rise housing complexes with a high population density can also create an effective counterbalance to the typical suburban development of part-time family home and offer method, respectively one of the alternative ways to be with this dilapidated urban housing estate deal.

Desarrollo y optimización de nuevas formulaciones de biopolímeros con principios activos para aplicaciones en el sector envase-embalaje

Tesis por compendio / [ES] Esta tesis doctoral tuvo como objetivo principal el estudio, desarrollo y caracterización de nuevos materiales poliméricos mediante el uso de diferentes matrices poliméricas de origen natural y biodegradables, así como también de aditivos naturales y residuos agroindustriales, todo ello con la finalidad de obtener biopolímeros útiles en el sector envase y embalaje. Una de las matrices seleccionadas para su uso fue el bio-poli(etileno) de alta densidad (bio-HDPE). El bio-HDPE es un material que se puede obtener a partir de fuentes naturales renovables. Sin embargo, no es susceptible de biodegradación, es por ello que se planteó la adición de cargas y aditivos naturales a la matriz polimérica, con la finalidad de obtener nuevos materiales en los que el uso de estas cargas permita una disminución de la cantidad de matriz polimérica necesaria, además de la posibilidad de proporcionarle al polímero nuevas características y propiedades gracias a los principios activos (fenoles, flavonoides, etc.) que poseen en su estructura. Las cargas utilizadas fueron por un lado harina de piel de caqui (PPF) y, por otro, lignina Kraft (KL). Teniendo en consideración la baja compatibilidad que existe entre la matriz polimérica y las cargas naturales debido básicamente a su inherente hidrofobicidad e hidrofilicidad, respectivamente, se propuso el uso de diferentes técnicas de compatibilización. Adicionalmente, teniendo en consideración que las cargas de origen natural tienen diferentes principios activos en su estructura, algunos de ellos con capacidad antioxidante se analizó su efecto en las propiedades térmicas de las muestras con (PPF). El estudio continuó con la utilización de poli(ésteres) como el poli(ácido láctico) (PLA) y poli(butilén succinato) (PBS). En el caso del PLA se buscó mejorar la fragilidad propia del material mediante la adición de un oligómero de ácido láctico (OLA) como agente plastificante y se obtuvo que a mayor cantidad de plastificante la ductilidad del PLA incrementaba. Adicionalmente, con el fin de enfocar el material al uso en el sector de envase y embalaje, se buscó mejorar sus propiedades barrera mediante la incorporación de nanomateriales, concretamente nanotubos de haloisita (HNTs). En el caso del PBS, si bien es un material biodegradable, su obtención aún depende de fuentes petroquímicas total o parcialmente, además que su producción implica un alto costo, por tanto, es importante la búsqueda de alternativas que permitan combinarlo con recursos naturales, para lograr un material menos costoso y más respetuoso con el medio ambiente. Es por ello que se consideró el uso de harina de cáscara de pistacho (SPF) como carga natural. Una última fase de la tesis consistió en el aprovechamiento de los residuos agroindustriales, mediante la extracción de algunos de sus biopolímeros, entre ellos proteínas, lignina y nanocristales de celulosa (CNC), los cuales luego fueron combinados, con la finalidad de obtener películas para su posible uso en el sector envase y embalaje. La lignina y los CNC fueron obtenidos a partir de las piñas de pino y utilizados como materiales de refuerzo para la matriz de proteína procedente del haba. La incorporación de dichos compuestos en la película de proteína dio lugar a un incremento en las propiedades mecánicas en términos de módulo de Young y resistencia a la tracción, además tuvo repercusión en las propiedades barrera, reduciendo la permeabilidad al vapor de agua y al oxígeno. En las muestras con CNC se observó un incremento en la hidrofobicidad de las películas obtenidas, relacionado también con la disminución en el contenido de humedad y la solubilidad reportados. Por tanto, de manera general se puede decir que con el trabajo desarrollado se pudieron obtener materiales biopoliméricos con características prometedoras para su aplicación en el sector envase y embalaje, planteando con ello opciones al uso de materiales poliméricos derivados del petróleo. / [CAT] Aquesta tesi doctoral va tindre com a objectiu principal l'estudi, desenvolupament i caracterització de nous materials polimèrics mitjançant l'ús de diferents matrius polimèriques d'origen natural i biodegradables, així com també d'additius naturals i residus agroindustrials, tot això amb la finalitat d'obtindre biopolímers útils en el sector envase i embalatge. L'estudi va continuar amb la utilització de polièsters com el poli(àcid làctic) (PLA) i poli(butilén succinat) (PBS). En el cas del PLA es va buscar millorar la fragilitat pròpia del material mitjançant l'addició d'un oligòmer d'àcid làctic (ONA) com a agent plastificant i es va obtindre que a major quantitat de plastificant la ductilitat del PLA incrementava. Addicionalment, amb la fi que enfocar el material a l'ús en el sector d'envàs i embalatge, es va buscar millorar les seues propietats barrera mitjançant la incorporació de nanomaterials, concretament nanotubs d'haloisita (HNTs). En el cas del PBS, si bé és un material biodegradable, la seua obtenció encara depén de fonts petroquímiques totalment o parcialment, a més que la seua producció implica un alt cost, per tant, és important la cerca d'alternatives que permeten combinar-lo amb recursos naturals, per a aconseguir un material menys costós i més respectuós amb el medi ambient. És per això que es va considerar l'ús de farina de corfa de pistatxo (SPF) com a càrrega natural. Una última fase de la tesi va consistir en l'aprofitament dels residus agroindustrials, mitjançant l'extracció d'alguns dels seus biopolímers, entre ells proteïnes, lignina i nanocristals de cel·lulosa (CNC), els quals després van ser combinats, amb la finalitat d'obtindre pel·lícules per al seu possible ús en el sector envase i embalatge. La lignina i els CNC van ser obtinguts a partir de les pinyes de pi i utilitzats com a materials de reforç per a la matriu de proteïna procedent de la fava. La incorporació d'aquests compostos en la pel·lícula de proteïna va donar lloc a un increment en les propietats mecàniques en termes de mòdul de Young i resistència a la tracció, a més va tindre repercussió en les propietats barrera, reduint la permeabilitat al vapor d'aigua i a l'oxigen. Per tant, de manera general es pot dir que amb el treball desenvolupat es van poder obtindre materials biopolimerics amb característiques prometedores per a la seua aplicació en el sector envase i embalatge, plantejant amb això opcions a l'ús de materials polimèrics derivats del petroli. / [EN] The main objective of this doctoral thesis was the study, development, and characterization of new polymeric materials using different polymeric matrices of natural origin and biodegradables, as well as natural additives and agro-industrial wastes, all with the aim of obtaining biopolymers useful in the packaging sector. One of the matrices selected for use was high-density bio-poly(ethylene) (bio-HDPE). Bio-HDPE is a material that can be obtained from natural renewable sources. However, it is not susceptible to biodegradation, which is why the addition of fillers and natural additives to the polymeric matrix was proposed. All of this with the purpose of obtaining new materials in which the use of these fillers allows a decrease in the amount of polymeric matrix required. In addition to the possibility of providing the polymer with new characteristics and properties thanks to the active principles (phenols, flavonoids, etc.) contained in its structure. The fillers used were persimmon peel flour (PPF) and Kraft lignin (KL). Considering the low compatibility between the polymeric matrix and the natural fillers, basically due to their inherent hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity, respectively, the use of different compatibilization techniques was proposed. In addition, taking into consideration that the fillers of natural origin have different active principles in their structure, some of them with antioxidant capacity, their effect on the thermal properties of the samples with (PPF) was analyzed. The study continued with the use of polyesters such as poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and poly(butylene succinate) (PBS). In the case of PLA, the aim was to improve the fragility of the material by adding a lactic acid oligomer (OLA) as a plasticizing agent. It was found that the greater the amount of plasticizer, the higher the ductility of PLA. Additionally, in order to focus the material for use in the packaging sector, it was sought to improve its barrier properties by incorporating nanomaterials, specifically halloysite nanotubes (HNTs). In the case of PBS, although it is a biodegradable material, its obtention still depends totally or partially on petrochemical sources, and its production implies a high cost; therefore, it is crucial to look for alternatives that allow combining it with natural resources, in order to achieve a less expensive and more environmentally friendly material. For this reason, pistachio shell flour (SPF) was considered as a natural filler. A final phase of the thesis consisted of using natural resources and agro-industrial wastes by extracting some of their biopolymers, including proteins, lignin, and cellulose nanocrystals (CNC), which were then combined in order to obtain films for possible use in the packaging sector. Lignin and CNCs were obtained from pine cones and used as reinforcing materials for the protein matrix obtained from faba beans. Incorporating these compounds in the protein film resulted increased mechanical properties in terms of Young's modulus and tensile strength, and also impacted on the barrier properties, reducing the permeability to water vapor and oxygen. In the CNC samples, an increase in the film's hydrophobicity was observed, which is also related to the decrease in moisture content and solubility reported. Intégration 3D de dispositifs mémoires résistives complémentaires dans le back end of line du CMOS / 3D integration of complementary resistive switching devices in CMOS back end of line

La gestion, la manipulation et le stockage de données sont aujourd’hui de réels challenges. Pour supporter cette réalité, le besoin de technologies mémoires plus efficaces, moins énergivores, moins coûteuses à fabriquer et plus denses que les technologies actuelles s’intensifie. Parmi les technologies mémoires émergentes se trouve la technologie mémoire résistive, dans laquelle l’information est stockée sous forme de résistance électrique au sein d’une couche d’oxyde entre deux électrodes conductrices. Le plus gros frein à l’émergence de tels dispositifs mémoires résistives en matrices passives à deux terminaux est l’existence d’importants courants de fuites (ou sneak paths) venant perturber l’adressage individuel de chaque point de la matrice. Les dispositifs complementary resistive switching (CRS), consistant en deux dispositifs OxRRAM agencés dos à dos, constituent une solution performante à ces courants de fuites et sont facilement intégrables dans le back-end-of-line (BEOL) de la technologie CMOS. Cette thèse a permis d’apporter la preuve de concept de la fabrication et de l’intégration de dispositifs CRS de façon 3D monolithique dans le BEOL du CMOS. / In our digital era, management, manipulation and data storage are real challenges. To support this reality the need for more efficient, less energy and money consuming memory technologies is drastically increasing. Among those emerging memory technologies we find the oxide resistive memory technology (OxRRAM), where the information is stored as the electrical resistance of a switching oxide in sandwich between two metallic electrodes. Resistive memories are really interested if used inside passive memory matrix. However the main drawback of this architecture remains related to sneak path currents occurring when addressing any point in the passive matrix. To face this problem complementary resistive switching devices (CRS), consisting in two OxRRAM back to back, have been proposed as efficient and costless BEOL CMOS compatible solution. This thesis brought the proof of concept of fabrication and 3D monolithic integration of CRS devices in CMOS BEOL.

Om världen till följd av klimatförändringarna blir mycket varmare kommer förutsättningarna för hur vi planerar städer, infrastruktur och jordbruk helt att vändas upp och ner. De delar av världen som idag står för världens livsmedelsproduktion kommer vid bara några graders förändring bli obrukbara som betes och odlingsmark. Dessa förändringar kan komma att starta konflikter, och stora flyktingströmmar som tillsammans med förändrade klimatzoner helt kommer att rita om världskartan. i Skandinavien är det då troligt att vi behöver bygga samhällen och städer för miljontals nya immigranter, och detta samtidigt som vi befinner oss mitt i den mest fruktbara jordbruksmarken i världen. Om hundra år måste vi dessutom, oavsett detta, dubbla livsmedelsproduktionen globalt sett. Vårt samhälle blir allt mer rörligt och infrastrukturen utvecklas i allt snabbare takt. Tåget, bilen och flyget har alla förändrat världen och staden, och i framtiden kommer vi kanske förflytta oss med nya typer av till exempel supersnabbtåg. De kommer ge avstånd en allt mindre betydelse. Om vi använder oss av de förutsättningar en sådan ny infrastruktur ger, och bygger både horisontellt och vertikalt uppstår en ny typologi för staden. Stannar man vid detta inser man snart att det är en hissnande tanke, och det är just det som detta examensarbete  undersöker. Ett narrativt projekt som spekulerar i frågan om det här händer, kan då också det här hända? / If the world as a result of the climate changes will be much warmer, the conditions for how we plan cities, infrastructure and agriculture will be completely turned upside down. Parts of the world which today account for the world's food production will at just a few degrees of temperature change become unusable for cultivation. These changes may result in conflicts, and massive refugee flows. Changes of the climate zones will completely redraw the map of the world. In Scandinavia, is it likely that we will need to build societies and cities for millions of new immigrants. At the same moment Scandinavian countries are in the midst of the most fertile farmland in the world. And also, in one hundred years we must, notwithstanding this, double our food production globally. Our society gets more and more mobile and the infrastructure is developing more and more. The train, the car and the airplane as concepts have all changed the world and the cities when they where introduced. The future, might move us towards new types of super-fast speed trains that will give an even smaller importance to distances. And if we use the textures of these new infrastructures, it might lead us to build both horizontally and vertically. Then it appears a new type of typology of cities. If you stay at this thought, you realize that it is completely staggering, and that is exactly what the thesis project investigates. It is a narrative project that speculates on the question; "If this happens, might then also this happen?"

Spatial technology as a tool to analyse and combat crime

This study explores the utilisation of spatial technologies as a tool to analyse and combat crime. The study deals specifically with remote sensing and its potential for being integrated with geographical information systems (GIS). The integrated spatial approach resulted in the understanding of land use class behaviour over time and its relationship to specific crime incidents per police precinct area. The incorporation of spatial technologies to test criminological theories in practice, such as the ecological theories of criminology, provides the science with strategic value. It proves the value of combining multi-disciplinary scientific fields to create a more advanced platform to understand land use behaviour and its relationship to crime. Crime in South Africa is a serious concern and it impacts negatively on so many lives. The fear of crime, the loss of life, the socio-economic impact of crime, etc. create the impression that the battle against crime has been lost. The limited knowledge base within the law enforcement agencies, limited logistical resources and low retention rate of critical staff all contribute to making the reduction of crime more difficult to achieve. A practical procedure of using remote sensing technology integrated with geographical information systems (GIS), overlaid with geo-coded crime data to provide a spatial technological basis to analyse and combat crime, is illustrated by a practical study of the Tshwane municipality area. The methodology applied in this study required multi-skilled resources incorporating GIS and the understanding of crime to integrate the diverse scientific fields into a consolidated process that can contribute to the combating of crime in general. The existence of informal settlement areas in South Africa stresses the socio-economic problems that need to be addressed as there is a clear correlation of land use data with serious crime incidents in these areas. The fact that no formal cadastre exists for these areas, combined with a great diversity in densification and growth of the periphery, makes analysis very difficult without remote sensing imagery. Revisits over time to assess changes in these areas in order to adapt policing strategies will create an improved information layer for responding to crime. Final computerised maps generated from remote sensing and GIS layers are not the only information that can be used to prevent and combat crime. Spatial technology as a tool to analyse and combat crime

This study explores the utilisation of spatial technologies as a tool to analyse and combat crime. The study deals specifically with remote sensing and its potential for being integrated with geographical information systems (GIS). The integrated spatial approach resulted in the understanding of land use class behaviour over time and its relationship to specific crime incidents per police precinct area. The incorporation of spatial technologies to test criminological theories in practice, such as the ecological theories of criminology, provides the science with strategic value. It proves the value of combining multi-disciplinary scientific fields to create a more advanced platform to understand land use behaviour and its relationship to crime. Crime in South Africa is a serious concern and it impacts negatively on so many lives. The fear of crime, the loss of life, the socio-economic impact of crime, etc. create the impression that the battle against crime has been lost. The limited knowledge base within the law enforcement agencies, limited logistical resources and low retention rate of critical staff all contribute to making the reduction of crime more difficult to achieve. A practical procedure of using remote sensing technology integrated with geographical information systems (GIS), overlaid with geo-coded crime data to provide a spatial technological basis to analyse and combat crime, is illustrated by a practical study of the Tshwane municipality area. The methodology applied in this study required multi-skilled resources incorporating GIS and the understanding of crime to integrate the diverse scientific fields into a consolidated process that can contribute to the combating of crime in general. The existence of informal settlement areas in South Africa stresses the socio-economic problems that need to be addressed as there is a clear correlation of land use data with serious crime incidents in these areas. The fact that no formal cadastre exists for these areas, combined with a great diversity in densification and growth of the periphery, makes analysis very difficult without remote sensing imagery. Revisits over time to assess changes in these areas in order to adapt policing strategies will create an improved information layer for responding to crime. Final computerised maps generated from remote sensing and GIS layers are not the only information that can be used to prevent and combat crime.
