Membranen mit integrierter Stützstruktur

Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der Herstellung von porösen Membranen mit integrierter Stützstruktur, wobei ihre Membrandicke geringer als ihr Porendurchmesser ist. Derartige Membranen können unter dem Begriff Mikrosiebe zusammengefasst werden und versprechen ein hohes Anwendungspotential als Filtermedien in industriellen und medizinischen Bereichen. Für die Membranstabilisierung werden Gewebe, extrudierte Gitter und Gewirke eingesetzt und erforscht. Gleichzeitig erfolgt die Weiterentwicklung eines bestehenden Herstellungsverfahrens von Membranen, welche nach dem Prinzip der partikelassistierten Benetzung (PAB) hergestellt werden. Die verschiedenen Stützstrukturen werden direkt bei der Membranherstellung fest in diese integriert. Weiterhin werden verschiedene Herstellungsparameter, wie zum Beispiel das Membranmaterial, die Funktionalisierung der Porenbildner und die leichtflüchtige Komponente gezielt untersucht und optimiert. Somit können mechanisch stabilisierte Membranen hergestellt werden, welche einen Durchmesser von bis zu 10 cm aufweisen. Für die abschließende Charakterisierung werden Filtrationsversuche und Stabilitätsmessungen durchgeführt.

Patterning of the embryonic vertebrate Brain in Response to Fibroblast Growth Factor Signaling

The term "pattern formation" refers to the process by which order unfolds in development. The present thesis deals with a particular aspect of molecular pattern formation during vertebrate embryogenesis. The model system in the focus of this study is the zebrafish, Danio rerio. In the early developmental phases of the zebrafish, Fibroblast growth factors (Fgfs) are involved in the molecular patterning of various tissues, including two regions of the brain, the forebrain and the midbrain-hindbrain region, affecting cellular processes as diverse as cell proliferation, differentiation, and axonal targeting. The goal of this study was to better understand the mechanisms by which Fgf signaling regulates pattern formation and embryogenesis. I addressed this question on several levels, investigating the extent of intracellular signaling (MAPK activation) relative to sources of Fgf expression, and the transcriptional responses of cells to Fgf signaling during embryogenesis. By a macroarray analysis, I identified putative transcriptional targets of Fgf signaling in late gastrulation, providing a set of molecules that are likely to act as functional players in relaying the patterning information encoded by Fgf signals. Among those are the secreted signaling molecules Chordin and Wnt8, as well as Isthmin, a novel secreted molecule that I found capable to interfere with anterior embryonic patterning. In addition, I identified two ETS domain transcription factors, Erm and Pea3, which constitute bona fide integrators of FgfR signaling. By gain- and loss-of-function studies, I demonstrate that transcript levels of erm and pea3 are tightly regulated by Fgf signaling. Detailed analysis of the expression patterns of erm and pea3 along with other Fgf target genes also provides evidence for a differential read-out of Fgf concentration in the embryo, consistent with a role of Fgf as a vertebrate morphogen. The discovery of novel molecular components downstream of Fgf receptor activity paves a way to characterize previously unknown or underestimated developmental roles of Fgfs in the molecular patterning of the forebrain, the eye and parts of the neural crest.

Syftet med studien är att öka kunskapen om barn förmåga i olika åldrar att använda Green Screen. Studien undersöker barns förmåga till kritiskt förhållningssätt under en aktivitet där det digitala lärverktyget Green Screen används.Våra erfarenheter kring förskolors användande av Green Screen skiljer sig åt och därför ville vi undersöka området. Vi genomförde en deltagande observation som filmades i två aktiviteter med Green Screen, en med tvååringar och en med fyraåringar. Undersökningen gjordes på en förskola i medelstor kommun i Sverige. Insamlade data analyserades multimodalt med tematisk analysmetod utifrån Jean Piagets utvecklingsteori, lekteori och jämviktsteori. Resultatet visar att barn i två- respektive fyraårsåldern agerar olika i aktivitet med Green Screen. Tvååringarna upptäcker tekniken mer kroppsligt medan fyraåringarna använde tekniken som ett verktyg i leken vilket kunde antyda att fyraåringarnas kritiska förhållningssätt var mer utvecklat. Det finns begränsat med forskning inom Green Screen i förskolan, därför anser vi att den här studien kan bidra med att ämnet uppmärksammas så att vidare studier kan göras. / The aim of the study is to increase knowledge about childrens ability in different ages to use Green Screen. The study examines children's ability to take a critical approach during an activity where the digital learning tool Green Screen is used. Our experiences of preschools' use of Green Screen differ and therefore we wanted to investigate the area. We conducted a participant observation that was filmed in two activities with Green Screen, one with two-year-olds and one with four-year-olds. The study was conducted at a preschool in a medium-sized municipality in Sweden. The collected data were analyzed multimodally using the thematic analysis method based on Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development, play and equilibrium. The results show that children aged two and four respectively act differently in activity with Green Screen. The two-year-olds discover the technology physically while the four-year-olds used the technology as a tool in play, which could suggest that the four-year-olds’ critical approach was more developed. There is limited research on Green Screen in preschool, therefore we believe that this study can contribute to the subject being noticed so that further studies can be done.

Mobiltelefoner har utvecklats i snabb takt över åren, från ett nytt koncept till en vardaglig självklarhet för många i bägge personlig och professional fattning. Efter smartphonens myntning i 1994 med IBM Simon Personal Communicator har mobiltelefonen evolveras i många olika riktningar. 2013 kom den först smartphonen med välvd skärm, Samsung Galaxy Round, vilket påbörjande en ny trend av böjda smartphones. Denna studie undersöker användaracceptans av den senaste typen av välvd skärm, sidoböjning, utifrån ett perspektiv av mänskliga nöjen. Studien föreslår att innovationen av sidoböjning inte avnjuts pragmatiskt utan idealistiskt, med fokus på adoptörens ideologiska och sociala begär. Innovationens framtid och utspridning utöver samhället slutdras som osäkert, med förslag på framtida forskning att vidareutveckla ämnets kunskapsbas. / Mobile phones have developed rapidly over the years, from a novel concept to an typical day certainty for many in both personal and professional use. Following the advent of the smartphone in 1994 with the IBM Simon Personal Comunicator, the mobile phone has evolved in a number of directions. In 2013, the Samsung Galaxy Round was launched, the first smartphone featuring a curved display, sparking a new trend of curved-display smartphones. This study investigates the user acceptance of the latest type of curved displays, curved sides, from a perspective of human pleasures. The studie suggests the innovation of curved sides is not enjoyed pragmatically, but idealistically, with a focus on the adopter’s ideological and social desires. The future of the innovation and its diffusion throughout society is concluded to be uncertain, with suggestions of future research to further develop the subject’s base of knowledge.

Progress in technology has resulted in new aids in the form of writing tools which make it easier for pupils to revise their texts. This interview study investigates how four teachers view paper-based and screen-based text processing in the younger years of school. It is still paper-based text revision that dominates in schools, and the teachers point out the shortage of digital tools and competence. The choice of processing method is affected by the aim, whether it concerns content or form. The result shows that digital tools can be of help for pupils with difficulties, but the interviewed teachers also emphasize the value of mastering handwriting, and they would like to see screen-based text processing as a complement to traditional paper-based text processing.

隨著數位資訊科技快速發展,敘事媒介也開始出現創新。互動成為各個敘事媒介紛紛想嘗試加入的元素,故事開始不只是作者單方面的說,閱聽者也可以參與到敘事。 然而在電影中,互動和敘事有本質上的衝突,互動基於觀眾的主動、電影敘事卻是建立在觀眾對故事的沉浸,在加入互動時便有可能將觀眾抽離電影所建構的世界。為此本研究將互動區分為心理互動與物理互動討論之,心理互動將涉及蒙太奇、多線敘事、多螢幕等概念;分類現有之物理互動,研究它們如何影響敘事。並將分析結果作為創作時的依據,期望以心理互動作為物理互動之切入點,尋求互動與敘事平衡,透過創作實踐理論、展現研究意圖。 創作之作品為《敘立方》多面電影及《三位一死》多線互動電影,使用同樣的影片素材,但以不同形式呈現。根據文獻及案例探討後發想出第一次《敘立方》的設計,展出後反思並微調,發展出最終完整且符合研究目的之作品《三位一死》。最終分析兩次作品效果,並回頭對照理論,作為日後欲發展互動電影創作或研究之參考。

Shun the Pun, Rescue the Rhyme? : The Dubbing and Subtitling of Language Play in Film

<p>Language-play can briefly be described as the wilful manipulation of the peculiarities of a linguistic system in a way that draws attention to these peculiarities themselves, thereby causing a communicative and cognitive effect that goes beyond the conveyance of propositional meaning. Among the various phenomena answering this description are the different kinds of puns, but also more strictly form-based manipulations such as rhymes and alliteration, in addition to a host of other, sometimes even fuzzier, subcategories.</p><p>Due to its unusual nature, and especially its frequently strong dependence on the idiosyncrasies of a particular language, language-play can generally be assumed to constitute a significant challenge in a translation context. Furthermore, given its non-negligible effects, the translator is not free to simply ignore the language-play (provided it has been recognized as such in the first place) without having taken an active stance on its treatment. However, the difficulties in finding a suitable target-language solution are possibly exacerbated if the source text is a complex multimedia product such as a film, the translation of which, normally in the form of dubbing or subtitling, is subject to additional constraints.</p><p>In view of these intricacies, it has been the aim of this study to analyze and measure how language-play in film has actually been treated in authentic dubbing and subtitle versions. As a prerequisite, the concept of language-play has been elaborated on, and more than a dozen subcategories have been described, developed, and employed. For the purpose of carrying out a meaningful analysis of the dubbing and subtitling of language-play, a corpus has been compiled, comprising 18 family films and 99 of their various target versions, most on DVD, and yielding nearly 800 source-text instances of language-play and thousands of translation solutions.</p><p>The results indicate that especially two sets of factors, among the many that are likely to influence a translation, play a prominent role: the type of the language-play, and the identity and working conditions of the translator. By contrast, the mode of translation (dubbing vs. subtitling), the target language, or the general properties of the films, could not be shown to have a sizeable impact.</p>

Colour a Symbol : Autentisering för smartphones

Under de senaste åren har den mobila tekniken i stort sett helt gått över till smartphones. Smartphones är i princip mer datorer än telefoner, som vi alltid bär med oss och som innehåller allt mer känslig information. Detta medför att kraven på säkerheten kring enheten ökar. Detta arbete undersöker om det är möjligt att finna en ny metod att låta användaren autentisera sig på, som är säkrare än de som är vedertagna idag, men samtidigt har liknande nivå av användbarhet. Vår idé, som vi arbetar med under namnet Colour a Symbol, baseras på att kombinera symboler och färger i par. För att utveckla idén skapade vi en funktionell prototyp, som sedan utvärderadesmed hjälp av en mindre testgrupp. Empirin visar på att Colour a Symbol har en god användbarhet, om än något för lång inloggningstid. Idéer för att förbättra inloggningstiden presenteras. Teoretiskt sett så är Colour a Symbol säkrare än exempelvis pinkod, men testgruppen var inte tillräckligt stor för att kunna bedöma den praktiska lösenordsrymden. Utformning av symboltema påverkar även förmodligen i hög grad den praktiska lösenordsrymden. Vår slutsats är att idén har en klar potential, men att det behövs ytterligare studier för att finslipa den. / During the past years mobile technology has moved almost entirely to smartphones. Smartphones are in essence more computers than phones, which we always carry with us and that contain ever more sensitive information. This requires that the level of security around the device increases. This study strives to find a new method of authenticating users, that is more secure than those that are established today, but at the same time has a similar level of usability. Our idea, which we work with under the name Colour a Symbol, is based upon making combinations of symbols and colours in pairs. In order to develop the idea we created a functional prototype, that was evaluated by a smaller test group. The empirical data implies that Colour a Symbol has good usability, if only a little too long login time. Ideas as to shorten the login time are suggested. Theoretically, Colour a Symbol is more secure than for an example pincode, but the test group was not large enough to estimate the practical password space. Design of the symbol theme probably also affects the practical password space to a high degree. Our conclusion is that the idea has clear potential, but that further studies are needed to fine-tune it.
