Hedlöf, Johanna, Hägg, Janina January 2017 (has links)

Mot en hållbar framtid : Folkbibliotekaries arbete för hållbar utveckling ur ett praktikteoretiskt perspektiv / Towards a sustainable future : Public librarians work for sustainable development from a practical theoretical perspective

Larbring, Anna January 2021 (has links)
In 2015 the UN initiated the project Agenda 2030, which aims for all countries to work together for a sustainable world based on social, environmental and economic aspects. There is a known potential of the libraries role and opportunities to influence and work for sustainable development. Despite that, there is lack of policies and control documents for Swedish public libraries and work for sustainable development. There is also a lack of studies which shows how Swedish public librarians describe their work for sustainable development in public libraries and their driving force. The aim of this study is to contribute with knowledge about that work. Seven public librarians were interviewed. The interviews were analyzed with the help of practice theory and the three aspects of sustainable development. The result of the study showed that all partaking librarians have a big personal interest of sustainability, which they brought in practice of their daily work. Their actions, most regarding environmental and social sustainability, is grounded on value of solidarity and their professional knowledge, but also a personal knowledge of environmental issues. The study also showed that the few identified control documents were general policies for all activities in the municipality and not unique for the public libraries. The partaking librarians wanted more specific guidelines for their work with sustainable development, which they want to develop and work more with. With the help of librarians, guidelines can be drawn up and make the work clear, visible and possible to evaluate, as part of a social responsibility.

Oskarsson, Caroline, Sunesson, Annie January 2023 (has links)
In a time when digitization is increasing, the importance of the physical bookshelf has been questioned. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between book enthusiasts and their bookshelf. This was done by conducting ethnographic interviews in combination with observations and by applying practice theory based on Reckwitz (2002) and the theoretical framework developed by Shove, Pantzar and Watson (2012) which is based on the concepts material, meaning and competence. By exploring the bookshelf's materiality and location, its content and organization as well as what thoughts and feelings the informants have in relation to their bookshelf we were able to show the complexity of the bookshelf's importance. The result shows that the bookshelf has several meanings, including as storage furniture, interior detail, memory holder and character descriptor. These meanings are then expressed in the material aspects of the bookshelf, such as the type of shelf used or what may be placed on it, as well as the practices that book enthusiasts carry out in relation to their bookshelves; interior design practices, organization practices, and reading practices.

Hautamäki, Jesper, Haug, Jonathan January 2022 (has links)
In the background the importance that real estate agents makes correct market value estimates of the objects they encounter in their work field is explained. The problem with previous research is that the valuation as a whole has not been investigated and therefore left out important parts of valuation that may make the practice deeply understood. Through the application of practice theory this study aims to investigate valuation as one practice. The research questions aims to understand which assessment and considerations real estate agents make when determining a market value. In order for the aim to be fulfilled the study has used a qualitative research method in the form of semi-structured interviews. The respondents for the study was seven real estate agents with a variation of experience. The interviews were then transcribed and analysed thematically which resulted in the making of a descriptive model of the elements that the respondents goes through in order to get to the market value. The study showed that respondents often goes through the same elements to get to the value. But during the different elements there is made separate subjective assessments about variables like location, condition and comparable objects. Whereas uncertainty becomes a natural part of the valuation process. The discussion is made with the starting point in theory that has been related to the thematic analysis. In the chapter, the identified valuation process and what is influencing it is discussed. It’s made clear after the study that the valuation process is highly subjective with its element of self-opinion and experience. The conclusion claim that the aim for the study is partly fulfilled. It's not possible to with certainty say what practical assessments real estate agents make from the interviews. The main reason is that it’s a complex task for respondents to put words on a routinised practice. This is mainly shown by hovering formulations that often reoccur. Even thou, certain depth has been reached in what assessments real estate agents make. But the subject needs more studies, possibly with other methods of choice to contribute to the theoretical literature.

Att söka och använda information i skolbiblioteksarbete : Skolbibliotekariers informationskompetens ur ett praktikteoretiskt perspektiv / Seeking and using information in school library work : The information literacy of school librarians from a practice theoretical perspective

Elffors, Olof January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to understand and describe the ways in which information literacy is expressed in the work of schoollibrarians. Information literacy is seen as an understanding of how information is sought and used within a social setting. Research questions guiding this endeavour are: 1. In what ways do school librarians seek and use information? 2. How can the information literacy of school librarians be described based on their information practices? In order to shed light on the social setting that constitutes the work of school librarians, practice theory and a sociocultural perspective on information literacy is used as a theoretical framework. Empirical data were produced by way of five semistructured interviews with active school librarians. These interviews were analysed thematically. The findings point toward information seeking and use in school library work being integrated information activities taking place in relation to the performance of work tasks, as well as being a highly social activity. Information literacy is described as enacted in the performance of these information activities. It is also understood as expressed on multiple levels, from being informed about current events in the world and within the school, to understanding how this may effect the day to day performance of work tasks.

Kollegiala samtal : - en väg till utveckling? / Collegial learning : – one way towards development.

Hedberg, Anne-Li, Johnsson, Lisa January 2017 (has links)

Bortom traditionen : Folkbibliotekarier om hjälp och stöd till biblioteksanvändare / Beyond tradition : Public librarians on help and support to library users

Thanner, Carl January 2021 (has links)
In recent years it has been discussed in the media that library users often request help and support from librarians regarding for example digital tasks and services that relate to government agencies and commercial companies. The aim of this study is to contribute with knowledge of public librarians' views regarding their mission and approaches to help and support to library users in the library. The study focuses on all types of help and support that library users request in addition to the library's traditional services (which are here understood as services clearly related to the library collection, e.g. reference work and user instruction). In order to examine this matter eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with public librarians at libraries in the municipality of Gothenburg. The transcripts from the interviews were then analyzed using qualitative content analysis guided and structured by a practice theoretical framework. In accordance with the practice theoretical framework, help and support to library users is considered as a practice. The result show that the library's mission in terms of help and support to library users can be seen both as narrow, primarily comprising reference work and as wide including all kinds of information, and that the participants help and support library users in different ways and with a wide range of questions and matters, within the wide description of the mission.

Praktiskt taget samma sak : En studie om studenters informationspraktiker i tryckta och digitala bokformat / Practically the same : A study about students’ information practices when using print and digital book formats

Hjertzell, Emma January 2022 (has links)
Students' usage of print versus e-book formats has been a subject of interest for research since the e-book started gaining popularity. These studies tend to emphasise student preferences and the reasons behind them which has led to a fairly well explored subject around the world. However, less emphasis is put on students’ information practices when using these formats.  This master’s thesis aims to add to the knowledge about the information practices of university students when using course literature in print versus e-book formats. To do this, semistructured interviews through Zoom were conducted with eight students. With practice theory as the theoretical lens, qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the material. The results shows that easy access to course literature is a main factor when choosing format, which indicates that preferences does not necessarily solely shape the information practice. E-books are used extensively by the students for easy access, even though there is a clear overall preference for print. The print format however seems to be providing a better overview of the whole book that favours the search process. The students also describe a feeling of deeper connection with print books and these are therefore used to understand complex texts, as well as when the students better want to remember what they have read. However, information practices described in regards to the e-book is not portrayed as a bad alternative. Rather, it is described as fitting for information practices that require shallower information processing.

I do as good as I can under those circumstances” : A study of public library work during covid-19

Ljungblad, Linn January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this master’s thesis is to develop knowledge on librarians’ perceptions and experiences of working at a public library during the covid-19 pandemic. The lack of research in this area motivates this thesis. Six librarians from four different public libraries in Gothenburg were interviewed through semi-structured interviews. The empirical data was analyzed through a practice theoretical framework comprising three dimensions of practice referred to as the cultural-discursive, the social-political, and the material-economic dimensions. The result of the study shows that the librarians’ perceptions and experiences of working during the pandemic was that it was difficult, challenging, and that it contributed new knowledge. The difficulties and challenges are based on the fact that the librarians, due to the restrictions, no longer can help the visitors like they used to. In addition, the library as an open space is no longer available for the visitors, which is a problem since many people rely on the libraries offering computers and a place where one can study or just spend time. To be forced to deny the visitors help is the biggest difference according to the librarians. Further, the result shows that the pandemic enabled new ways of working and contributed to highlight the importance of public libraries.

Förändring av turismpraktiker efter COVID-19 : en praktikteoretisk studie om resande / Change in tourism practices after COVID-19 : a practical theoretical study of traveling

Persson, Linnéa, Nydelius, Alice, Klingler, Sara January 2022 (has links)
The corona pandemic has had an impact on both society and various industries, especially the tourism industry when travel opportunities were regulated. When restrictions were imposed, people's everyday activities were limited, which contributed to a change in which new routines were created. The following essay aims to examine how the practice of tourist travel has been affected by COVID-19. By analyzing individuals' travel before, during, and after the pandemic, differences can be discerned in actual behavior. The study deals with tourist travel based on practice theory, as well as the concept of change. Using a qualitative method, nine semi-structured interviews were conducted with people living in Sweden. Respondents consisted of five men and four women between the ages of 21-29. All participants had at some point traveled domestically and internationally before the pandemic. The results of the study explain and analyze how travel practices have been performed before, during and after the pandemic. The conclusions that can be drawn are that some change linked to travel practices associated with COVID-19 can be identified among the study's respondents. The individuals have developed a greater attractiveness to travel types such as nature trips and roadtrips in Sweden, hence, the concept of tourism has been expanded since the homeland is also perceived as a tourist destination. At the same time, international travel has been limited during the pandemic, but is again of interest to the participants in this study. Therefore, it can be concluded that previous research conclusions about increased travel and a travel boom, are consistent with the study's respondents' desire to once again travel internationally as this is considered meaningful. There has also been a limited use of air travel as a means of transport during COVID-19, which is something respondents will return to using during future trips as the infrastructural aspect is again possible and feasible. This study is written in Swedish.
