Pereira, Leandro Carlos 10 February 2015 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-29T14:27:26Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Leandro Carlos Pereira.pdf: 1139055 bytes, checksum: 8dd769a18887ca4232fee5a702190823 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-02-10 / The Theology of the cross has always had deep existing relationship between the Latin American people with Jesus Christ who suffered and died on the cross, pointing to the elements of a liberating christology of the cross. Because the sufferings of Christ crucified today in our poor, on our workers poorly paid, in malnourished children, helpless and sexually exploited, in young people disoriented and exploited by the drug trade and excluded from the field of education, of the working and opportunities, and the elderly that are discarded by the culture of utility by identifying them with the "junk" to be discarded. Our study seeks to identify the understanding of the cross in Latin American Christology from the crucified peoples of history, because would be useless and fruitless reflection on the cross of the historical Christ, if we do not look and point out to these crucified peoples which they pursue their pursuit towards Calvary in our dear and beloved Latin America characterized by the exploitation of the richest towards the poorest. However, if the cross is a symbol that leads out of the Church and religious yearning down into the communion with the crucified of history. In the reverse direction, it is a symbol that calls the oppressed and the impious for the Church, and through it, to communion with the crucified God who made himself God with us. Make present the cross in our culture means not accommodate this society to their idols and taboos, fears and fetishes, but in the name of him which in the past was sacrificed by religion, society and state, sympathizes with the current victims of religion, society and State, making himself as Jesus crucified, brother and liberating them / A Teologia da cruz sempre teve profunda relação existente entre o povo latino americano com Jesus Cristo que sofreu e morreu na cruz, apontando os elementos de uma cristologia libertadora da cruz.

The Redemption of the Literary Diva: The Role of Domestic Performance and the Body in Harriet Beecher Stowe's The Minister's Wooing

Schraedel, Chrisanne 01 April 2017 (has links)
An exploration of Harriet Beecher Stowe's The Minister's Wooing as viewed through the lens of performance studies and domesticity. Previous tales of fallen women, both in novels and operatic form, deprived the coquette of the agency to change her societally determined route of personal destruction as previously shown in the studies of Catherine Clément. Stowe's unique tale of a French coquette overturns the typical plot of the fallen woman, as demonstrated in Hannah Webster Foster's The Coquette, by giving the coquette agency to redeem herself through key performative, domestic and, according to Judith Butler, transformative acts. Such treatment of this character made Stowe a forerunner in sexual equality.

Reclaiming the Human Self: Redemptive Suffering and Spiritual Service in the Works of James Baldwin

Allen, Francine LaRue 02 February 2006 (has links)
James Arthur Baldwin argues that the issue of humanity—what it means to be human and whether or not all people bear the same measure of human worth—supersedes all issues, including socially popular ones such as race and religion. As a former child preacher, Baldwin claims, like others shaped by both the African-American faith tradition and Judeo-Christianity, that human equality stands as a divinely mandated and philosophically sound concept. As a literary artist and social commentator, Baldwin argues that truth in any narrative text, whether fictional or non-fictional, lies in its embrace or rejection of human equality. Truth-telling narrative texts uphold human equality; false-witnessing texts do not. Baldwin shows in four of his novels the prevalence of the latter narrative type. Within the fictional societies of Go Tell It on the Mountain (1953), Giovanni’s Room (1956), If Beale Street Could Talk (1974), and Just Above My Head (1979), Baldwin reveals how society’s powerful bear false witness against the marginalized through stereotyping social narratives. However, Baldwin uses his novels to show the humanity of the marginalized. In so doing, he connects his works, as well as the works of contemporary black literary artists, to the concept of Christian spirituality.

"Jedoch war es zu spät?" Die Chancen der geistigen Erlösung Aschenbachs in Thomas Manns Novelle Der Tod in Venedig

Miljan, Robert January 2012 (has links)
The aim of the following study was to illustrate that the death of the protagonist in Thomas Mann’s novel, Death in Venice, was, in the end, not just a corporeal, but rather a spiritual one, and ultimately the result of his failure to explore the potential and true depth of human feeling. The definition of the term decadence as a state "against nature: the revulsion against both physical and human nature, preference for the artificial" (Ritter 1992, 87) served as the main theoretical basis of the study and proved helpful in articulating the protagonist’s tragic flaw, namely, his preference for the shallow image of mere physical beauty. Furthermore, the perceptive views of critics Hermann Luft and Rolf Günter Renner on the novel’s underlying conflict between the spiritual and physical conception of beauty helped to substantiate the study’s own stance on the negative implications of the type of aesthetic formalism that leads to the protagonist’s ultimate demise. Focusing on these aspects helped to provide an analysis of the novel that is not only restricted to a socio-political-historical context, but which sees the novel in general as the embodiment of an essential universal and timeless message and ideal, namely, that one must strive to penetrate the realm of physical, sensual phenomena in this world in order to reach the content, i.e. the spiritual, eternal attributes which lie behind it.

O Dragão de Itataia: mineração e modos de contestação e de legitimação dos discursos do desenvolvimento / The Itataia Dragon: mining and modes of contest and legitimation of developmental discourses

The ways of challenging the discourse of development are related to the positions, the interpretations of social movements gathered in the Antinuclear Articulation of Ceará (AACE) and how social actors are against the enterprise, highlighting its threat and risks to the environment, Health and sustainable socioeconomic activities in the locations where the Santa Quiteria Project will be installed. The three modes of legitimation of development are: the discourse of abundance of natural goods such as uranium and phosphate that would justify mining; The discourse of sustainability that defends the option of generating nuclear energy as cleaner and sustainable; And properly the discourse of the redemption of the semiarid, emphasizing the generation of jobs to come and the hypothetical economic advantages for the municipality. Development as redemption refers to the discourses and actions aimed at legitimizing the Santa Quitéria Project (SQP) for its power to transform the semi-arid region of Ceará by building and enhancing development for a region marked by unequal access to natural assets. Part of the research was fieldwork, specifically at the headquarters of the municipality of Santa Quitéria and in two of its rural districts, Riacho das Pedras and Morrinhos. Another part was held at public hearings concerning the project with large scale uranium mining and phosphate. I also referred to the documents produced within the framework of a planned management of energy resources and the generation of nuclear energy by the Federal Government and those produced by the social movements and civil entities that are against the mining project. A research in the communication vehicles was also important to collect data and affirmations of the subjects involved in the defense and in the contestation to the Santa Quitéria Project. Conclusively, conflicts arising from this relationship and socio-environmental conflicts resulting from the long process that precedes the mine’s operation highlight the conflicting perceptions about the idea of development.

[en] REDEEMING MASCULINITIES: REPRESENTATIONS AND MEANINGS OF MASCULINITIES AND VIOLENCE IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF AN AMAZONIAN PASTORAL THEOLOGY / [pt] REDIMINDO MASCULINIDADES: REPRESENTAÇÕES E SIGNIFICADOS DE MASCULINIDADES E VIOLÊNCIA NA PERSPECTIVA DE UMA TEOLOGIA PASTORAL AMAZÔNICA

RICARDO GONÇALVES CASTRO 28 June 2018 (has links)
[en] The thesis aims to analyze the relationship between masculinities, violence and religiosity from the Amazon context. It turns to the meanings of masculinities embodied in the representations elaborated within the intercultural and historical contexts of Amazon religiosity. Masculinities in the plural wants to express the diversity of expressions that is built both in people s lives and in cultural and religious expressions. The research uses a methodology of the contextual liberation theologies, because it is built from aspects of the cultural-religious reality from which critical understandings of theological representations about masculinities derive. The theoretical mediations are elaborated from the theological perspectives of gender, feminist, postcolonial and intercultural. The central problem of this research is the relationship between the various meanings of masculinities present in religious and theological representations, as cause of violence or possibility of redemption. The hegemony of a masculinity built from violent colonial structures, patriarchal rational and theological principles, by being deconstructed opens the possibility of better understanding and enriching human experience in its plural modes, in the Amazon context. This theological reflection seeks to offer up-to-date theological meanings, so that human life and its relationships are transformed and manifest the signs of the Kingdom of God. Masculinities are placed in the sphere of history, culture and religion that men inhabit, they are intercultural, hybrid, it means, they are not stable, but are constantly in the process of reformulation. This observation is an important aspect to think about the pastoral possibilities of caring for men in the ecclesial sphere. A pastoral anthropology of masculinities is based on the trinitarian and kenotic perspective, re-reading its biblical-theological representations: exodus, easter, kenosis, death and resurrection - from slavery to the freedom of sons and daughters, from death to life in fullness. Redeemed masculinities in the Amazon drink from Christian sources, but also from the ancient culture of its peoples, so that it becomes ecological. The formation and experience of new masculine identities need initiatory processes, that is, to acquire an awareness of oneself as a person - to acquire an understanding of the spiritual, subjective, intersubjective bodiliness and called the community experience.

Rosenzweig: Temporality of Redemption as Theological-Political Principle / Rosenzweig: la temporalidad de la redención como principio teológico-político

Toscano, Javier 09 April 2018 (has links)
This essay analyses the temporal structure that Rosenzweig develops mainly in his work The Star of Redemption in order to locate, on one hand, a messianic principle that organizes a specific theologico-political realm, and on the other, to understand the way in which certain terms from the judaic prophetic tradition are refunctionalized to activate in a concrete form a system of thought based on the premise of otherness.

A caracterização niilista da filosofia de Schopenhauer a partir da critica de Nietzsche / The nihilistic caracterization of Schopenhauer's philosophy by the Nietzsche's critic

Rodrigues, Eli Vagner Francisco 12 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Oswaldo Giacoia Junior / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Filosofia e Ciencias Humanas / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-12T03:52:39Z (GMT). / Abstract: The theme of this work is based upon the hypothesis that the Schopenhauer's philosophy could be characterized as a nihilist thought. We try to explain away how the criticisms made by Nietzsche to the morals of compassion of Schopenhauer finds place, and obtain some theoretical density, in the context of his analysis of the nihilism of weakness, which Nietzsche points as the main characteristic of the European cultural decadency. The problem of the nothingness is as well under examination, with the purpose of put it in relation to the broad thematic of nihilism, and to show the sense in which the ethics of the philosopher from Frankfurt frames a soteriology. The basis for this interpretation lay on the following characteristics: to point out to an absence of finality (a finalism negation, a-teleology) to the will and, consequently, to the absence of an intelligible telos to the world, the pessimist attitude based on the metaphysic of the will, and on the soteriology, defended by the philosopher himself in his doctrine of a negation of the will, which, by its turn, points out to the nothingness status, the will's target in the morals of compassion. This characterization, as we see it, is related to the reception, to the interpretation and to the nietzschean criticism of Schopenhauer's philosophy, chiefly on the characterization that Nietzsche made of the nihilism of the weakness. / Doutorado / Filosofia / Doutor em Filosofia
