Hållbarhet är ett komplext begrepp och är komplicerat att förmedla. Trots begreppets svåra innebörd är det något som används flitigt runt om i världen idag. Risken med att innebörden av hållbarhet inte förstås är att människor inte tar det till sig och istället ignorerar begreppets betydelse. Hållbarhet är ett viktigt begrepp som förmodligen är här för att stanna. Kommunikationen av hållbarhet är beroende av många olika faktorer då hållbarhetsbegreppet i sig själv innebär en mängd olika aspekter. För att nå ut till en så bred målgrupp som möjligt gäller det att beröra så många olika människor som möjligt. Vissa lyssnar på de faktiska och hårda elementen och andra tar till sig de mjuka och känsliga faktorerna. Vi har i den här uppsatsen velat ta reda på olika sätt att kunna skapa goda kommunikationsstrategier för hållbart byggande, och mer precist för Skanska Öresunds projekt Bassängkajen. Vi har velat visa på komplexiteten och betydelsen av hållbarhetsbegreppet i samhällets utveckling samt belysa betydelsen av att öka tyngdpunkten på den sociala aspekten. Bassängkajen är en ny kontorsbyggnad på Universitetsholmen i Malmö där den första etappen planeras stå klar under 2011. Bassängkajen är en av Skanskas mest miljövänliga byggnader och detta vill de gärna belysa för sina kunder. Vi har under arbetets gång undersökt befintligt kommunikationsmaterial som tillhandahållits av Skanska Öresund för att kunna identifiera eventuella utvecklingsmöjligheter. Tidigt insåg vi att de sociala värdena var bristande i materialet för Bassängkajen och av den anledningen har vi lagt arbetets tyngdpunkt i de sociala aspekterna. Arbetet grundar sig i fördjupade litteraturstudier och en rad olika intervjuer och samtal med berörda personer. / Sustainability is a complex concept and many times very difficult to communicate. Despite these difficulties, sustainability is a word that is widely used around the world today. A major risk with the word not being understood is that people do not adopt the word, but rather ignores the concepts true meaning, however, sustainability is an important concept and is here to stay. The communication of sustainability is dependent on many different factors and the concept of sustainability itself entails a variety of aspects. To reach out to an as wide audience as possible, the concept needs to touch as many people as possible. Some will adhere to the real and hard elements whereas some embraces the soft and emotional factors. In this paper we have set out to find ways to establish good communication strategies for sustainable construction, and more specifically for the project, Skanska Öresund, Bassängkajen. We wanted to show the complexity and importance of sustainability in society and highlight the importance of increasing the emphasis on the social aspects. Bassängkajen is a new office building on Universitetsholmen in Malmö, and the first phase is scheduled for completion in 2011. Bassängkajen is one of Skanska's most environmentally friendly buildings, which is something that Skanska wishes to highlight to its customers. During the work, we have examined existing communication material provided by Skanska Öresund to identify potential development opportunities. Early we realized that the social values were lacking in the material for Bassängkajen, which led to an increased emphasis on the social aspects on our part. The work is based on in-depth literature studies and a range of interviews and discussions with relevant persons.

This thesis evaluates public spaces based on the relationship between humans and thephysical environment. A comparative study was developed, comparing two differentpublic spaces, Hornstull torg and Skärholmstorget. The two places have beenstatistical analysed through chisquare tests and evaluated based on different factors, toidentify strengths and weaknesses. The factors have been identifiedas important forpublic spaces to be perceived as attractive and have been determined with help froma theoretical framework based on urban research. Social progress has resulted in changes on how we use public spaces which createsnew demands on the surroundings. The study concludes that a public space'sattractiveness is a complicated and multifolded concept that has different meanings fordifferent people. On the other hand, it is clear that public spaces are connected toboth social and physical structures and the combination of these two dimensionsdecides how the place is perceived and used. The results from the chisquare-tests show differences depending on gender and ageon how they experience public space. Skärholmstorget fulfils more of the factors thathave been identified as crucial for an attractive public space than Hornstull torg does.However, the majority of the respondents perceive Skärholmstorget as moreinsecure than Hornstull torg. This may have effect on how often the public space isused.

Här listas orsakerna till varför ingreppet genomfördes, konsekvenserna detta fick för kulturmiljöerna och motståndet som uppstod när hotet började realiseras. Uppsatsen tittar på vilka faktorer (politiska, stadsplanemässiga, kulturvårdande, ekonomiska) som påverkar en gatas förändring och vad som värderas högst.</p>

Through the different stages of life people have different requirements for their homes. The requirements changes depending on people’s life situation, lifestyleand age. Depending on where people are in life they live in different place, often in areas with other people who are in the same stage of life. In Sweden, this separation has always been noticeable, sometimes more than other. To minimizethis separation it’s required to take measures that make people from different stages of life come together. By offering people a home that suits them in an area with a high degree of differentiation, people from different stages are brought together. This refers to differentiation regarding apartments, houses, shops, workplaces and social service functions. Collecting apartments that suits different consumer groups in one single block leads to a higher degree of understanding among neighbors and make people from different generations come together. When the block is supplied with workplaces, shops, coffee shops and restaurants along with other social service functions a city life is created which resembles Sweden during the 1950’s. A society where once work, stores and social functions were important to have in your surrounding area. This is reflected in a richer urban life and a higher degree of movement in the neighborhood. / Genom livet ställer människan olika krav på sin bostad. Kraven beror på människans livssituation, livsstil och ålder. Beroende på var i livet människan befinner sig bor denna på olika platser, ofta i områden med andra människor som befinner sig i samma skede av livet. I Sverige har denna uppdelning alltid funnits och i vissa perioder varit större än i andra. För att minimera denna uppdelning krävs åtgärder som för människor från olika skeden i livet samman. Genom att erbjuda människor en bostad som passar just dem i ett område med en hög differentieringsgrad, förs människor från olika skeden samman. Detta avserdifferentiering gällande lägenheter, bostadshus, butiker, arbetsplatser och servicefunktioner. Att samla lägenheter som passar olika konsumentgrupper i ett och samma kvarter leder till en högre grad av förståelse mellan människor i olika livssituationer och sammanför generationer. När kvarteret också förses medarbetsplatser, butiker, café och restaurang samt andra servicefunktioner skapas ett stadsliv som kan liknas vid det som fanns i Sverige innan 1950-talet. Ett samhälle där arbete, affärer och service var viktigt att ha i närheten av bostaden. Detta innebär ökad rörelse och ett rikare stadsliv.

The focus of this study is to examine the aesthetics due to a new residential area, Glasberga Sjöstad, located in the outskirts of Södertälje. During the first construction process in the housing estate, some of the buildings appeared not familiar to the Swedish norm, and they did not fit into the concept Garden City, “trädgårdsstaden”. The main research question is to investigate the aesthetics and planning ideals according to the forming of Glasberga Sjöstad and the study focus on the lack of consistency between the vision and the everyday-reality. Another important starting-point is questions about ethnic segregation and aspects of power relations between a majority and a minority in the society. Former research points at causal factors as socioeconomic imbalances and class-aspects as important to understand the ethnic- and race segregated Swedish society, and the main research question in this study, is to add a focus on the aesthetics as an important aspect and more, to pay attention to the middleclass-citizens. The study is built upon in-depth interviews with residents in Glasberga Sjöstad and analyses of planning documents and aesthetic guidelines due to the construction process. The material shows that the aesthetic guidelines are built upon former ideals and it also shows that the inhabitant of Glasberga pay less attentions to the aesthetics of the houses, than to the social relations with their neighbours. The outcome of this study proposes the aesthetics as an important matter in planning and power practices, and proposes for a more open-minded way to embrace and include cultural diversity.

Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur autenticitet konstrueras och uttrycks i och omkring ett byggt kulturarv. Studien är utförd i ett stadslandskap centrerat kring Sergels torg i Stockholm, och undersöker hur ett antal aspekter av autenticitet aktiveras i samband med förändring. Studien utgår från ett sammansatt teoretiskt perspektiv som omfattar begreppen plats, minne, och autenticitet. Plats och minne ses som samverkande och beroende av varandra: de är relationellt, socialt, och kulturellt formerade,medan autenticitet är en tillskriven egenskap. Det sammansatta perspektivet är riktat mot plats som föränderlig över tid och plats som konstruktion, vilket innebär en icke-essentiell syn på plats. I studien undersöks därför även autenticitet via icke-autenticitet. Studiens undersökning sker i två steg. En inledande analys identifierar aspekter av autenticitet som utgör utgångspunkter för en fördjupad analys. Den fördjupade analysen är undersökningens andra steg, och utgår från två paraplybegrepp: det rotlösa och det rotade, respektive kopia och original. Studiens resultat är en kartläggning av hur autenticitet konstrueras och aktiveras i stadslandskapet kring Sergels torg. Resultatet kan även ses ha relevans för diskussioner kring autenticitet i förhållande till plats, och till byggt kulturarv, generellt.

Kandidatuppgiften som vi blev tilldelade innefattade utmaningen att bygga en tillbyggnad till en mycket historisk byggnad i centrala Stockholm. Den existerande byggnaden, som står i behov av en tillbyggnad, huserar Nationalmuseum. Museet var från början en gest till folket att få ta del av den kungliga konstskatten. Idag fyller museet inte bara de kungliga samlingarna utan all form av nationell konst och design från långt bak i tiden fram till modern tid.  Dessutom innehåller byggnaden en administrativ avdelning med administrativ personal samt magasin och ateljéer. På grund av mängden konst och ökade krav på arbetsmiljö och säkerhet så behöver man nu bygga ut. Utmaningen var komplex då den innehöll svårigheter på programnivå men samtidigt så skulle detta komma att bli ett nytt inslag i Stockholms hjärta med utblick över från de flesta stadsdelar. Mitt förslag blev ett tillägg som med ett relativt fritt formspråk skapats utifrån stadens linjer och människornas användande. / The task we were assigned included the challenge of building an addition to a very historic building in central Stockholm. The existing building, which is in need of an addition, houses the National Museum. The museum was originally a gesture to the people to take part of the royal art treasure. Today there is not only the royal collections within the museum, but all form of national art and design from way back in time to the modern day. As well, the building houses the administrative department with administrative staff and warehouses and studios. Because of the amount of art and increased demands on health and safety, they need to now build out. The challenge was complex as it contained the problems at the programme level but at the same time, this would become a new element in the heart of Stockholm with a view over most neighborhoods. My suggestion was a supplement that with a relatively free-form language created from the city lines and human use.

Staden och den byggda miljön har blivit en källa till omfattande miljöproblem. Byggsektorn i Sverige står för en stor andel av både utsläpp och avfallsproduktion. Begreppet hållbarhet används ofta inom stadsbyggnad och innefattar socialt, ekologiskt och ekonomiskt hänsynstagande. Dock har det visat sig svår att implementera hänsyn till hållbarhet i realiteten. Lagen om offentlig upphandling tillämpas då offentliga aktörer köper varor eller tjänster av privata leverantörer. Inom stadsbyggnad är det vanligt att kommuner och statliga myndigheter köper upp produkter, entreprenader och tjänster från privata bolag. Lagen syftar till att öka konkurrensen, skapa transparens och motverkas risken för att vissa leverantörer särbehandlas i en upphandlingsprocess. I en upphandling har den upphandlande enheten möjlighet att ställa krav på de leverantörer som är lämpliga. Kraven kan bland annat röra hänsyn till miljö och sociala aspekter. Denna uppsats belyser möjligheterna att hållbarhetskrav integreras i offentliga upphandlingar som rör stadsbyggnad. Genom intervjuer med ett antal olika aktörer inom bygg- och planeringssektorn har åsikter och erfarenhet samlats in och analyserats. Analysen av dessa intervjuer och tidigare forskning visar på att det finns en tydlig kunskapsbrist kring hur krav som rör hållbarhet ska formuleras samt hur dessa skall värderas i en upphandling. Studien visar även att det efterfrågas tydligare direktiv och en ökad samverkan mellan aktörer beträffande upphandlingar och möjligheten att integrerar hållbarhetskrav. Studiens resultat tyder på att Lagen om offentlig upphandling reglerar en stor köpkraft och kan, om kunskap och kompetens finns, användas för att ställa krav på miljö och sociala hänsyn inom bygg- och planeringssektorn och därmed bidra till en mer hållbar stadsutveckling.
