L’Enquête à l’œuvre : la représentation inquiétée dans les dramaturgies contemporaines / The investigation at work : Troubled representation in contemporary dramaturgies

À travers l’étude d’une cinquantaine de pièces, textes et spectacles, issues du répertoire européen contemporain, il s’agit d’envisager la représentation dramatique comme un fait anthropologique, mettant en jeu des pratiques du signe et de l’interprétation, à travers le prisme de l’enquête – entendue comme processus de création, comme forme structurante mais aussi comme mode de relation au monde et au spectateur. Parcours des hypothèses, laboratoire des fonctions cognitives et heuristiques de la représentation, il apparaît que l’enquête désigne ce trouble par lequel le théâtre se pense comme représentant quelque chose. Cette thèse inscrit donc les dramaturgies contemporaines à l’intérieur du paradigme indiciaire, identifié par C. Ginzburg, en regard des formes romanesques de l’enquête (roman naturaliste et policier). Elle entend ainsi réparer le déficit théorique dont souffre cette fiction maîtresse » (D. Kalifa), permettant ainsi de penser les significations de la reprise d’une démarche moderne, attachée à la recherche d’un sens et d’une lisibilité, dans une période marquée par le postmodernisme, caractérisée par une posture de relativisme et de suspens herméneutique. Le recours aux scènes du procès, de la reconstitution, de l’interrogatoire, étudié dans une seconde partie, découvre des opérations critiques et réflexives où les dispositifs de production du vrai sont interrogés comme autant de politiques et de poétiques du signe. Quant à l’écriture documentaire, qui fait l’objet d’une troisième partie, elle apparaît comme traversée par trois orientations distinctes – thétique, constatative et interrogative – que nous identifions à partir de leur rapport à l’enquête. / Through the analysis of about fifty plays, texts, and performances from the contemporary European repertoire, this study will consider dramatic representation as an anthropological fact involving practices of signs and interpretation, through the prism of the investigation – understood as a creation process, a structuring form but also a way of relating to the world and the spectator. A path of hypotheses and a laboratory of the cognitive and heuristic functions of representation, it appears that the investigation refers to this confusion through which theatre is thought to represent something. This dissertation therefore inscribes contemporary dramaturgies within the clue paradigm, coined by C. Ginzburg, in relation to novelistic forms of the investigation (naturalistic and detective novels). Thus it intends to repair the theoretical deficit plaguing this “master fiction” (D. Kalifa), opening a reflection on the meanings of reusing a modern approach, tied to the search for meaning and legibility in a time marked by postmodernism and characterized by an attitude of relativism and hermeneutic suspense. The use of scenes of trial, reconstitution, and questioning, studied in the second part, uncovers critical and reflexive operations in which the devices of truth production are questioned as politics and poetics of the sign. As for documentary writing – the focus of the third part, it appears crossed by three distinct orientations – assertive, constatative and interrogative – which will be identified according to their relations to the investigation.

Nous avons choisi de nous intéresser aux premières œuvres d’Alicia Kozameh ( Pasos bajo el agua), Sara Rosenberg (Un hilo rojo) et Nora Strejilevich ( Una sola muerte numerosa). Ces trois écrivaines ont subi la violence politique argentine des années 1970. Elles ont toutes été emprisonnées et ont voulu témoigner de cette expérience dans leurs ouvrages. Nous proposons donc de donner un aperçu de l’histoire violente de l’Argentine qui a conduit à la dictature de 1976. L’un de nos objectifs sera de montrer que la fiction facilite l’expression d’une expérience traumatique telle que l’enfermement, la torture ou la disparition. Les signes autobiographiques sont présents dans ces trois œuvres et nous tenterons tout d’abord de déterminer à quel genre de l’écriture du soi elles appartiennent : roman autobiographique, roman témoignage, témoignage fictionnel ou bien une figure hybride ? Nous travaillerons aussi les caractéristiques du témoignage que nous mettrons à l’épreuve des textes de notre corpus. Nous nous proposons de travailler les textes depuis l’angle de la résistance ou des résistances. En effet, ce concept que nous tenterons de définir est très présent dans les textes choisis. Notre travail prendra ensuite une autre direction, celle de la mémoire, indissociable de l’évocation du passé. En somme, nos axes convergerons vers un même objectif : la création artistique est une forme de résistance qui permet de transformer une expérience traumatique et de quitter le lieu de victime. Elle participe aussi à la construction de la mémoire collective qui est la somme de toutes les histoires et de toutes les identités ayant subi le terrorisme d’Etat argentin. Toutes ces raisons font que les textes que nous nous proposons d’analyser permettent de révéler la vérité de l’Histoire et de ce fait, de participer au travail de justice entamé depuis de nombreuses années par les organisations populaires argentines, tâche qui est maintenant soutenue par le gouvernement argentin. / We will analyse the first book of three argentine writers: Alicia Kozameh (Pasos bajo el agua), Sara Rosenberg (Un hilo rojo) et Nora Strejilevich ( Una sola muerte numerosa). They all suffer the political violence during the 70’s in Argentina. They all suffer prison and they wanted to testify about this experience. We first propose to speak about violent history of Argentina that conduced to the 1976 dictatorship. One of our goals is to show that fiction is a good way to write a traumatic experience like prison, torture or disappearance. However, autobiographical signs are present in these three books and we will try to determinate the literary genre of each one. We will also work on the characteristics of testimony and compare them with our writer’s works.We also want to analyse these texts from the angle of resistance and memory because we will demonstrate that artistic creation is a form of resistance that allow to transform a traumatic experience and not to be a victim. Creation also participates to the construction of collective memory that is the sum of all histories and identities that suffered state terrorism. We will show that these texts are enabling to give away the truth of history and to participate to the work began a long time ago by a lot of Argentinean organisations that claim for justice.

A fim de compreender como um narrador que tem tendência para a perspectiva única e para o monólogo permite que outras vozes se manifestem a ponto de serem ouvidas pelo leitor, o presente trabalho busca uma articulação entre o romance moderno e o testemunho. Entretanto, antes desta análise, foi proposta uma breve revisão sobre a produção literária brasileira na década 70, destacando-se o isolamento da obra Lavoura Arcaica em relação ao contexto literário daquela época. Ainda nesta parte inicial há a recuperação da fortuna crítica a respeito da obra de Raduan Nassar. Tendo em vista a complexidade do romance nassariano, no segundo capítulo, foi contemplado o ponto de vista de alguns teóricos literários - Mikhail Bakhtin, Problemas da poética de Dostoiévski (2002), Theodor Adorno, Posição do narrador no romance contemporâneo (1983) e Anatol Rosenfeld, Reflexões sobre o romance moderno (1985) - que, de certo modo, dialogam a respeito do papel do romance moderno. Ressalta-se, então, do estudo bakhtiniano, a noção de dialogismo que permite autonomia às personagens porque a partir dela o homem pode ser visto em sua multiplicidade e imprevisibilidade; de Anatol Rosenfeld, a negação do realismo ou o desmascaramento do mundo epidérmico do senso comum e de Theodor Adorno, a crise da objetividade. A noção de testemunho apresentada por Márcio Seligmann-Silva (2006) é vista como uma adaptação estética pertinente a um mundo já ciente da frágil condição humana. O último capítulo está dividido em três subcapítulos. No primeiro, observa-se como André foi capaz de inverter a lógica paterna, constituindo-se no elemento deflagrador que ocasionou o fim de uma forma fechada e orgânica de família patriarcal. No segundo, mostra-se como o André narrador, que surge com a morte do André personagem, acolhe e resgata, principalmente, a voz do pai e a dos irmãos. Enquanto sobrevivente, há o transbordamento do seu mundo interior e a sua evidente fragmentação. No terceiro, constata-se como a adoção de uma prosa poética pode ser vista como uma forma de conciliar a necessidade e a impossibilidade de se narrar algo que transcende a verossimilhança e que se instaura como um trauma. Foi também ressaltado que uma concepção artística que deixa vir à tona as contradições inerentes à modernidade é fundamental para se narrar em um mundo carente de sentido. / In order to understand how a narrator which has a tendency to the single perspective and to the monologue allows other voices to show to the point of being heard by the reader, this paper seeks after an articulation between the modern novel and the testimony. However, before this analysis, it proposes a brief review of the Brazilian literature from the 1970s. The isolation of the work Lavoura Arcaica is pointed out in relation to the literary context of the period. In this initial section there is also a recovery of the criticism regarding Raduan Nassar's work. Taking the complexity of Nassar's novel into account, in the second chapter, this work comprises the point of view of some literary theorists - Mikhail Bakhtin, Problemas da poética de Dostoievski (2002), Theodor Adorno, Posição do narrador no romance contemporâneo (1983), and Anatol Rosenfeld, Reflexões sobre o romance moderno (1985) - who, in a way, dialogue over the role of the modern novel. Afterwards, it is highlighted the conception of dialogism which empowers autonomy to the characters from Bakhtinian studies, because from this independence the man can be seen in his plurality and unpredictability; the negation of realism or the act of removing the mask from the epidermal world of the common sense is pointed out from Anatol Rosenfeld; and the objectivity crisis from Theodor Adorno. The conception of testimony presented by Márcio Seligmann-Silva (2006) is seen as an appropriate aesthetic adaptation to a world which is already aware of the fragile human condition. The last chapter is divided in three subchapters. In the first subchapter, it is observed how André has been able to invert the paternal logics, consisting of the turning point responsible for the end of the organic and closed pattern of the patriarchal family. In the second subchapter, it is shown how André the narrator, emerging from the death of André the character, receives and rescues mainly the voice of his father and his brothers. As long as a survivor, there is an overflow of his inner world and his evident fragmentation. In the third subchapter, it is testified how the adoption of a poetic prose can be seen as a way of conciliating the necessity and the impossibility of narrating something that transcends the verisimilitude and sets up as a trauma. It is also emphasized that an artistic conception which allows contradictions inherent to the modernity to come to the surface is essential to narrate a world which is destitute of sense.

O hipertexto como ponto de partida em processos de aprendizagem e criação da cena contemporânea

Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo investigar a proposição do hipertexto didático sobre poéticas cênicas contemporâneas como ponto de partida em processos de aprendizagem e de criação do teatro, utilizando como principal aporte metodológico a abordagem da pesquisaação fundamentada por Michel Thiollent. A revisão bibliográfica resultou na elaboração de um hipertexto didático (MARTINS, 2006), a ser publicado na internet, sobre o Teatro da Vertigem (São Paulo), produzindo um material hipertextual e multimodal para uso pedagógico, que articula textos teóricos, análises críticas, registros de espetáculos e processos, depoimentos dos artistas, descrição e análise de procedimentos de criação e fragmentos de dramaturgia. A realização e a análise de dois experimentos de aprendizagem e encenação realizados na cidade de Campo Limpo Paulista (SP), com um grupo de iniciantes em teatro e outro formado por atores amadores na faixa etária de 18 a 42 anos, permitiu a sistematização de princípios e procedimentos metodológicos de ensino e aprendizagem do teatro contemporâneo. O jogo teatral a partir de modelos estéticos (KOUDELA, RYNGAERT, PUPO, MARTINS) e procedimentos da abordagem colaborativa desenvolvida por ARAÚJO, são os eixos norteadores das práticas de criação propostas nos experimentos realizados a partir do hipertexto didático criado pelo coordenador e ampliado pelos participantes. A seleção das referências teóricas se deu a partir da perspectiva de teóricos do teatro contemporâneo como LEHMANN, FERRAL, FERNANDES, ARAÚJO, PAVIS e SARRAZAC. Os resultados obtidos poderão contribuir para o debate acerca de abordagens metodológicas que integrem estudos teóricos e históricos com práticas colaborativas de criação da cena e que possam interessar para professores, coordenadores de oficinas e encenadores envolvidos na reflexão a cerca dos processos de aprendizagem e criação da cena contemporânea. / This work investigates the proposition of hypertext courseware on contemporary scenic poetic elements as a starting point for theater creation and learning processes, having primarily relied, as a methodological input, on Michel Thiollent\'s action-research approach. The bibliographical review has resulted in hypertext courseware (MARTINS, 2006), to be published on the internet, about Teatro da Vertigem (São Paulo), having thus generated a multimode, hypertext material for educational use, which puts together theoretical texts, critical reviews, records of spectacles and processes, testimonials of artists, a description and analysis of creation processes and procedures, and figments of theater practice. The conduction and analysis of two learning and staging experiments held in the city of Campo Limpo Paulista (São Paulo, Brazil), comprising a group of theater novices and another group made up of amateur actors aged 18 to 42, allowed me to systematize some learning principles and methodologies of the contemporary theater. The theater game based on esthetic frameworks (KOUDELA, RYNGAERT, PUPO, MARTINS) as well as on collaborative approach procedures devised by ARAÚJO are the guiding pillars for the creation practices proposed during the experiments based on the educational hypertext as devised by the coordinator and further expanded by the players. Selection of theoretical references has drawn on such contemporary theater theorists as LEHMANN, FERRAL, FERNANDES, ARAÚJO, PAVIS, and SARRAZAC. The results may contribute to debates over the methodological approaches that bring together theoretical and historical studies, on one part, and collaborative staging practices, which might be useful for teachers, workshop coordinators and stage directors involving in a reflection over the contemporary theater creation and learning processes.

The research focuses on the relationship between experiences of historical catastrophe and its manifestation in literary language. For this it was necessary a brief recovery of the theory about the relation between literature and history to highlight the configuration of a historic event in a literary text. The study has the testimony notion as theoretical contribution, including: Beatriz Sarlo and Seligmann-Silva. In A costa dos murmúrios the political transience of the narrative voice reconfigures its historical experience in order to show a part of Colonial War that concerns the extermination of black Mozambican civilians by Portuguese soldiers during the colonial policy of Estado Novo dictatorship. Testimony in A costa dos murmúrios concerns the own discussion about setting an aesthetic representation that assumes its relation with reality by understanding that passage to the literary form undertakes an ambiguous recovery process whose tenor of truth is in the form how reality is understood, developed and communicated. The study contributes to the comprehension that fictional way may include a form of testimony that can help in processing traumatic historical events. / Esta dissertação tem por objetivo investigar o "teor testemunhal" do romance A costa dos murmúrios (1988), da escritora portuguesa Lídia Jorge. A investigação centra-se na relação entre as experiências de catástrofes históricas e sua manifestação na linguagem literária. Para tanto, fez-se necessário uma breve retomada da teoria sobre a relação entre literatura e história para destacar a configuração de um evento histórico em um texto literário. Conta-se com o aporte teórico do conceito de testemunho a partir das formulações, sobretudo, de Beatriz Sarlo e Seligmann-Silva. Em A costa dos murmúrios a transitoriedade política da voz narrativa reconfigura sua experiência histórica para trazer à cena um recorte da Guerra Colonial que diz respeito ao extermínio da população negra civil moçambicana por soldados portugueses durante a política colonial da ditadura do Estado Novo. No romance, o testemunho se inscreve na própria discussão sobre a configuração de uma representação estética que assuma sua relação com a realidade através da compreensão de que a passagem para o literário empreende um processo de recuperação ambíguo cujo teor de verdade se dá pela forma com que essa realidade é apreendida, elaborada e comunicada. O estudo colabora com a compreensão de que a via ficcional pode comportar uma forma de manifestação do testemunho que atua na elaboração dos traumas decorrentes de eventos históricos.

La pensée du religieux au siècle des Lumières : études sémiostylistiques d'oeuvres littéraires et picturales / Religious Thinking in the the Age of the Enlightenment : semiostylistic studies of literary and pictorial works of art

L’importance du religieux au siècle des Lumières n’est plus à démontrer, tant dans sa dimension historique que philosophique ou artistique. Mais il s’agit de savoir s’il existe une pensée du religieux au XVIII° siècle, i.e. des modes spécifiques de peser des sens qui ont à voir avec l’invisible, le surnaturel ou le divin. Plutôt qu’une idée en particulier, idée de bonheur, de nature, d’énergie ou d’inquiétude, nous étudions un rapport, une relation articulée entre l’homme et le symbolisable: comment une société donnée mesure ce rapport au surnaturel, et à travers quels médias. L’enquête privilégie la littérature d’idées, la production d’une pensée qui n’adhère jamais ni à l’identité ni au concept, mais qui est plutôt écart et mouvement, et qui par cela même peut s’aventurer sur des terra incognita ; elle privilégie aussi la peinture d’histoire, le genre où l’iconographie est par excellence cosa mentale, manifestation visuelle des méditations d’une pensée. Les analyses sémiostylistiques des œuvres sont orientées par deux pôles, l’intertextualité biblique et la praxis socio-théologique de la Querelle des refus de sacrements. Elles permettent de saisir les mutations du paradigme biblique, de la pensée rationaliste et de l’esthétique mimétique tout en mettant au jour les obstacles épistémologiques, les points de résistance, les skandalon. La pensée du religieux au XVIII° siècle, entre audace et effroi, apparait marquée par l’expérience et l’ethos, une esthétique du témoin qui doit beaucoup à la pensée janséniste du témoignage, ainsi qu’une remise en cause de la pensée rationaliste au profit d’une nouvelle philosophie du langage / The importance of Religion in the Age of the Enlightenment is no longer to be proven, whether it be historically, philosophically ar artistically. The question is to make out if there exists a way of thinking Religion in the XVIIIth century, i.e. specific modes of weighing meanings which are related to the invisible, the supernatural or the divine. Rather than one idea in particular (happiness, nature, energy, anxiety), we are studying a connection, an articulate relation between man and what can be symbolized : how a given society assesses this connection to the supernatural, and through wich media. Our investigation favours essays, the production of a thinking which never adheres to the identity or the concept, but which is rather a swerve, a movement, which allows it to explore terra incognita ; the investigation also favours history painting, the genre in which iconography is by essence cosa mentale, a visual manifestation of the mediations of a thinking. The semiostylistical analysis of the works are orientated by two poles, the biblical intertextuality and the socio-theological praxis of the quarrel over the refusal of sacraments. These analysis allow to grasp the mutations of the biblical paradigm, the rationalist thinking and mimetic aesthetics while they make light on the epistemological obstacles, the resistance points, the skandalon. Thinking Religion in the XVIIIth century, between audacity and dismay, appears marked by the jansenist thinking of testimony, as well as a questionning of rationalist thinking in favour of a new philosophy of language

Cette thèse relate la conception d'une entreprise artiste créée par l'auteur, artiste entrepreneuse, dans l'intention de témoigner des mutations des villes et des choix effectués en matière de conservation ou de destruction. Urban Memory, entreprise de« rechargement en contenu mnémonique », a vu le jour en 2012 à Dresde, capitale saxonne, bombardée en 1945. Située à l'est de l'Allemagne, cette ville est en constant chantier depuis des décennies. C'est par l'intermédiaire d'une pratique artistique mêlant la peinture et la sérigraphie avec des moyens de communication mis en scène dans l'urbain qu'Urban Memory entend rendre compte des transformations du paysage architectural et accompagner les débats autour de l'identité et la mémoire de la ville. Dans une première partie, l'auteur retrace son parcours de découverte et de réflexion sur Dresde au travers de premiers travaux ; présente le contexte historique, politique et économique des mutations ; puis nous livre une analyse des entreprises artistes à partir de laquelle elle a conçu Urban Memory, son mode de fonctionnement et ses stratégies. Dans une seconde partie, l'auteur nous guide dans le centre historique de Dresde, le long de ses monuments et mémoriaux, afin de souligner tantôt l'éloquence, tantôt le silence dont sont capables de tels édifices et installations dans la ville ; puis se tourne vers la scène artistique contemporaine et ses moyens de création d'une mémoire « vivante ». Enfin, après avoir mis en lien ses propres outils artistiques et le contexte de sa recherche, l'auteur nous révèle les premières réalisations et les projets d'installation in situ de son entreprise. / This thesis examines the author's conceptualization and establishment of an artist company with the objective of tracing urban transformations and of assessing decisions to conserve or destroy parts of the city. Urban Memory, a company that has as its goal the "recharging of mnemonic content," was founded in Saxony's capital city Dresden in 2012. Located in the east of Germany, this city, bombarded in 1945, has constantly been under construction in the past decades. Urban Memory takes account of the architectural landscape's transformations and accompanies debates about the identity and memory of the city. It does so by means of é hybrid form of artistic practices-painting and serigraphy-and communication media placed in the urban context. The first section of this thesis explores the artist's discovery and initial reflections on Dresden in the context of her first works; it explores the historical, political and economic context of the city's transformations; and it analyzes artist companies based on which Urban Memory has been conceived as well as its basic functional framework and strategic outlook. The second part zooms in on the historical center of Dresden, its monuments and memorial sites, so as to expose both the eloquence and silence with which the built environment of the city treats its past. Moreover, this part turns to the milieu of contemporary artists and their means of creating a 'living' memory. Finally, after having discussed and related the artistic dimension of her project, the author presents the company's first projects and in situ installations.

Cette recherche prend comme point de départ la lecture de textes émanant de deux aires socio-culturelles différentes : le Rwanda et le Guatemala. Issus de narrations de femmes, publiés à partir des années 1980, ils font acte de témoignage d’un événement : le génocide des Tutsis au Rwanda et les violences de masse au Guatemala.Les récits sont mis à l’épreuve du genre littéraire et du genre comme construction socio-culturelle.Le volume aborde, pour commencer, les aspects historico-esthétiques de la représentation littéraire des violences du XXe siècle en Europe et aux Amériques. Il reconstitue l’histoire et les enjeux de la problématique contemporaine du témoignage. These female narratives published from the 1980s onwards bear witness to particular events: the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda and mass violence in Guatemala.Stories are examined through the prism of the literary genres of testimonio and témoignage, as well as through an understanding of gender as a socio-cultural construction.This research deals firstly with the historic and aesthetic aspects of literary representations of violence during the 20th century in Europe and the Americas. Itinvestigates the history of and contemporary concerns about ‘eye witness accounts’* ‘testimony’. Further, through the study and analysis of various editions of the testimonies of Rigoberta Menchú and Yolande Mukagasana, it questions the common dualities of true/false, fiction/reality in the discursive regime of the testimony. Le statut du témoignage au sein du savoir est devenu un objet de questionnements, occasionnant des affrontements entre différentes disciplines à travers l’usage de paradigmes distincts. À partir du constat de l’«émergence» récente de la catégorie de «témoignage» dans le champ littéraire, cette thèse essaie de décrire son expansion et son extension au sein de plusieurs disciplines (droit, histoire, philosophie, critique et théorie littéraires) et d’examiner l’hypothèse selon laquelle son développement dans le champ des sciences humaines et sociales correspondrait en réalité à sa profonde mise en crise. Pour définir la notion de «témoignage» en littérature au XXe siècle, elle entreprend de poser les jalons d’une «histoire culturelle» des gestes testimoniaux et des notions de «témoignage», en vue de définir un objet théorique pertinent pour la théorie et la critique littéraires. Son but est de comprendre la manière dont le «témoignage» est devenu une catégorie à la fois nébuleuse et centrale de la vie culturelle en Occident, et de mettre en évidence la spécificité des formes testimoniales au XXe siècle. En introduisant les notions de «littérature testimoniale», d’«œuvre testimoniale» et de «création testimoniale» elle veut préciser la notion de «témoignage» et lui rendre sa complexité. Il s’agit donc de retrouver l’intelligence historique de la notion, afin d’en faire une catégorie pleinement opératoire pour le discours critique et de construire les fondements d’une «histoire culturelle du testimonial» qui retrace la rencontre entre l’art et le témoignage et explique l’émergence, au sein de la littérature, de cette forme nouvelle appelée «création testimoniale». / The status of testimony in knowledge has become a subject of questions, causing clashes between different disciplines through the use of distinct paradigms. From the observation of the recent "emergence" of the category of "testimony" in the literary field, this thesis attempts to describe its expansion and extension in several disciplines (law, history, philosophy, and critical literary theory), and examines the hypothesis that the progressive flooding of this concept in humanities and social sciences corresponds to a deep "crisis of witnessing". In an attempt to define the concept of "testimony" in literature as it appears during the twentieth century, this work aims at laying the foundations for a "cultural history" of testimonial gestures and notions of "testimony" in order to define an appropriate category for literary theory and criticism. Its goal is to understand how "testimony" became both a nebulous and central category in cultural life in the West, and highlights the specificity of testimonial forms in the twentieth century in the aftermath of the Holocaust, which must ultimately help clarify the concept of "testimony" and re-establish its complexity by introducing the notions of "testimonial literature", "testimonial work of art" and "testimonial creation". This thesis aims therefore primarily to recover the historical understanding of the concept, in order to make a fully operational category out of it for critical discourse, and to build the foundations of a "cultural history of testimonial gestures" which traces the encounter between art and testimony and explains the emergence, in literature, of a new form called "testimonial creation".

Cette thèse propose une analyse de l’ensemble des long-métrage documentaires réalisés par le cinéaste brésilien Eduardo Coutinho. Notre objectif est de comprendre comment le cinéaste s’approprie le concept de « documentaire » et l’adapte à chaque « dispositif » mis en place lors de la réalisation de ses films. Nous verrons que la « fiction » et le « documentaire » ne sont pas deux concepts paradoxaux chez lui. Au contraire, ils entretiennent une relation de proximité très particulière. Lors de nos analyses, nous situerons les « personnages » qui témoignent tout au long de ses films dans des « espaces de communication » précis selon la sémio-pragmatique proposée par Roger Odin. Nous espérons ainsi pouvoir déterminer quelles sont les questions historiques et culturelles qui se trouvent à la base de leurs discours. L’hypothèse que nous prétendons vérifier tout au long de cette recherche se concentre sur la possibilité que ces gestes et paroles qui intègrent les documentaires d’Eduardo Coutinho rendent compte d’une notion d’identité qui échappe à toute sorte de stéréotype médiatique. / This thesis purposes an analysis of all documentaries directed by the Brazilian film-maker Eduardo Coutinho. Our intention is to understand how the director uses the concept of “documentary” and makes an adaption of it according to each “dispositive” used in each one of his films. We will see that “fiction” and “documentary” aren’t two paradoxical concepts for him. On the contrary, their nearness is something really particular in his cinema. In order to demonstrate this idea, we will place the “characters” that discuss in his films in specific “communication spaces”, according to the “sémio-pragmatique” purposed by Roger Odin. We hope to be able to know the cultural and historic issues that are in the basis of their speech. The hypothesis that we will try to verify during this research is based on the possibility that the gestures and speeches of his documentaries illustrate a notion of identity that goes beyond all kinds of media stereotype. / Esta pesquisa propõe uma análise do conjunto de documentários de longa-metragem realizados pelo cineasta brasileiro Eduardo Coutinho. Nosso objetivo é entender a forma com que o cineasta se apropria do conceito de “documentário”, adaptando-o a cada “dispositivo” colocado em prática em seus filmes. Notaremos que a “ficção” e o “documentário” não são dois conceitos paradoxais em seu cinema. Pelo contrário, esses conceitos possuem uma relação de proximidade bastante peculiar em seus documentários. Durante as nossas análises, iremos situar os “personagens” que proferem seus discursos ao longo dos filmes em “espaços de comunicação” precisos, segundo a semio-pragmática proposta por Roger Odin. Esperamos assim poder determniar quais são as questões históricas e culturais que se encontram na base dos seus discursos. A hipótese que pretendemos verificar ao longo da nossa pesquisa se concentra sobre a possibilidade de que as palavras e gestos que integram os documentários d’Eduardo Coutinho constituam uma noção de identidade que ultrapassa todo tipo de estereótipo midiático.
