[pt] O PAPEL DE RAÇA NO CAPITALISMO: PARA UM DEBATE RACIALIZADO DO CONTEXTO CONTEMPORÂNEO DAS POLÍTICAS DE IDENTIDADE / [en] THE ROLE OF RACE IN CAPITALISM: TOWARD A RACIALIZED DEBATE ON THE COMTEMPORARY CONTEXT OF IDENTITY POLITICSANNA DE RUIJTER 23 March 2021 (has links)
[en] Driven by the questions that the contemporary political debate around Identity Politics - or identitarian politics, as it has been conventionally called - raises about the relationship between race and class, the present research proposes itself to investigate the role of race in capitalist modernity.
Considering the movement to historicize race in its modern sense as one of central importance to this task, this work engages in a historical reconstruction that emphasizes the role of transatlantic slavery for the capitalist genesis, elucidating its colonial aspect. Alongside the effort to historicize race and to understand capitalism from the events that took place in the Atlantic it is proposed a reflection on the effects of the modern racial signifier through theoretical perspectives that question the limits and ambiguities of race in modernity. Through these considerations that seek to contribute to the critical thinking about the place of race in capitalism the aim of this research is to address the different ways in which the relationship between race and class is understood and mobilized in the political debate around identity struggles – with its positions that range from a neglect of the indissociability between the identities produced by the modern racial sign and the way capitalism functions, on the one side; to a reduction of race to a question of a purely economic order, on the other.

[en] CAPITALISM AND SUSTAINABILITY: REGENERATIVE COMPANY AND CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY IN THE 21ST CENTURY / [pt] CAPITALISMO E SUSTENTABILIDADE: EMPRESA REGENERATIVA E A SUSTENTABILIDADE CORPORATIVA NO SÉCULO XXITHEOFILO CODECO MACHADO RODRIGUES 16 October 2023 (has links)
grande agenda do século XXI.
anos, abordagens como a do triple bottom line e do environmental, social and
A partir desse
corporativa inclusiva; o valor compartilhado; o impacto ambiental positivo; e a
cidadania corporativa.
[en] Global warming, climate change, ecosystem degradation and loss of
biodiversity have made sustainability a major agenda for the 21st century. Some
companies have understood this by adopting elements of corporate sustainability as
increasingly common practices. However, there are still many doubts about the best
ways to apply this corporate sustainability in the activities of companies. In recent
years, approaches such as the triple bottom line and environmental, social and
governance (ESG) have become commonplace, but these models are criticized for
their complex operationalities and insufficient scope. The present dissertation aims
to present a new concept of corporate sustainability – the Regenerative Company
– and a basic model of implementation for all companies. This work arguments that
the Regenerative Company consists of four complementary axes: inclusive
corporate governance; shared value; positive environmental impact; and corporate
citizenship. Using applied research as a method, this study introduces definitions of
these four axes and illustrates them with case studies selected from bibliographic,
documental and journalistic sources. This research resulted in a triple contribution:
firstly, to the science of sustainability with an update of the debate on corporate
sustainability; secondly, for the social sciences, with a critical approach to the
current hegemonic mode of production; finally, to the field of business management
itself, with a practical application model.

[pt] FEBRE E SUAS DIMENSÕES: APROXIMAÇÕES E TRAVESSIAS DO SIGNO FEBRIL / [en] FEVER AND ITS DIMENSIONS: APPROACHING AND CROSSING THE FEVERISH SIGNCAROLINE FACANHA DOS SANTOS MATHIAS 24 January 2020 (has links)
[en] Having Virginia Woolf s proposition in her essay On being ill as a starting point, this dissertation focus on an immersive experience of the fever imagery lived by both artistic and theoretical critical manifestations. Theories from Walter Benjamin, the german philosopher, and Jonathan Crary, the north-american scholar, are present in this research, inviting us to a specific dimension of the fever, slow and effervescent; human and mechanical; infuriated and dampened. Regarding the study of this paper, it is necessary to ponder: what political dimensions could be mobilized from the state of convalescence of someone who observes the world from their bed? Could such action disturb the practical and hegemonic orders that have been installed as a direct consequence of the current economic model? This paper addresses these questions by introducing a new way of seeing things, a state in which, even among the ferocity of information demanded by late capitalism, allows a depart from the things of the world so the details and fragments, forgotten under the bed, may be seen once again.

[pt] VULNERABILIDADE, HIPOSSUFICIÊNCIA E PROTEÇÃO DE DADOS NA JORNADA DE CONSUMO EM AMBIENTE DIGITAL / [en] VULNERABILITY, HYPOSUFFICIENCY AND DATA PROTECTION IN THE CONSUMER JOURNEY IN DIGITAL ENVIRONMENTMARIANA DE MORAES PALMEIRA 03 October 2022 (has links)
chamada publicidade comportamental direcionada conforme o perfil do
[en] In this thesis examines the transformations in the digital environment
circumscribed to the intersections between new marketing practices and the
protection of the consumer-data subjects. The main drive is the strengthening of
information as an important asset in contemporary consumer society. From the
perspective of surveillance capitalism, it analyzes the central phenomena that
contributes to the establishment of a structure of stimuli and controls that permeate,
imperceptibly to the consumer s eyes, his journey. It is verified that digital
advertising, especially the so-called behavioral advertising, directed according to
the consumer s profile, despite being target of criticism by the doctrine and of
interest by the legislation, is only the visible part of an architecture of choices
permeated by dark patterns that hinder consumer protection in the digital
environment. In this scenario, the research investigates the sufficiency of personal
data protection mechanisms, as well as the existence of a new and universal
consumer vulnerability. Which is the digital vulnerability that gives rise as well to
a universal state of consumer hyposufficiency before commercial practices in the
digital environment.

[pt] POR UMA TEOLOGIA DA CULTURA DE CONSUMO: UM OLHAR SOBRE A CULTURA DE CONSUMO A PARTIR DA TEOLOGIA DA CULTURA DE PAUL TILLICH / [en] TOWARD A THEOLOGY OF THE CULTURE OF CONSUMPTION: A VIEW ON CULTURE OF CONSUMPTION BASED ON PAUL TILLICH S THEOLOGY OF CULTUREVICTOR SIQUEIRA SANTOS 21 September 2021 (has links)
[en] The culture of consumption is one of the names given to the complex and powerful structure situated in as many societies as those which has been involved in any way by the global capitalist system. In those societies consumption is made the central character. Such culture embraces the industrial production system, in its exponential multiplication of objects; mechanisms of persuasion that through the advance of technology and medias explore imagination dimensions and affect society; and the relationship between products, consumer and all society. Due to the number of factors involving culture of consumption the consumption phenomenon that was previously studied only by managers and marketing researchers but has become an object opened to the other areas of knowledge including theology. The German-American theologian and philosopher Paul Tillich (1886-1965) is known for constructing a theology that aims overcome the gap between religion and culture. In his opinion every culture form has a religious deepness from which it can and must be theologically approached. On this ground Tillich has analyzed political, social and economic contexts from theological point of view. Along these efforts he has developed many important concepts that extrapolate their specific contexts to become fruitful to the analyses of other culture situations. Therefore, the present work aims to show from a Tillichian perspective a fundamental critique to the culture of consumption as well as to its specific involvement with the concepts of human being, world, time and eschaton.

[en] BANDEIRANTISMO AND INTERNATIONAL POLITICS: THE COLONIAL DIMENSIONS OF THE THREATS TO THE XINGU INDIGENOUS TERRITORY / [pt] BANDEIRANTISMO E POLÍTICA INTERNACIONAL: AS DIMENSÕES COLONIAIS DAS AMEAÇAS AO TERRITÓRIO INDÍGENA DO XINGUGIORGIO GARCIA CRISTOFANI 27 November 2023 (has links)
O primeiro
primeira Terra Indígena demarcada no Brasil.
vida imperial, baseado no eurocentrismo e no racismo.
[en] The dissertation understands the colonization of the Americas as a fundamental
milestone of modern international politics and defends the need for the discipline
of International Relations to engage with indigenous peoples, especially by
understanding the global role of their political struggles. In this context, it
investigates the global and colonial dimensions of the threats to indigenous
territories, especially the domination strategies operated in the Xingu Indigenous
Territory, threatened by the economic frontiers of agribusiness and illegal logging.
With the analysis of bandeirantismo as the guiding thread of the entire
dissertation, the work is structured in three movements. The he first movement
presents the historical panorama of the Xingu Indigenous Territory, through the
intersection between critical historical anthropology, ethnoarchaeology and the
postcolonial perspective, in order to understand the threats and resistances to
bandeirantismo and the contemporary consequences of the colonial situation in
the first demarcated Indigenous Land in Brazil. The second movement analyses,
on the one hand, the centrality of bandeirantismo in Brazilian colonization and, on
the other, its role in the formation of global capitalism and in the subjectivation of
an imperial way of life, based on Eurocentrism and racism. The third movement
analyzes the colonial strategies of domination towards indigenous peoples and
their territories in two different historical moments, identifying the continuity of
the "war of conquest" after independence. Finally, the fourth movement analyzes
the territorial tensions and strategies of domination that affect the Xingu
Indigenous Territory in contemporary times, understanding how the discourses
and practices of international politics operate locally through the articulation
between the grammars of political economy and colonial hierarchies. In this way,
the dissertation argues that the threats to indigenous territories are consequences
of the dynamics of global power patterns, forged from the colonization of the
Americas and the consolidation of capitalism. The invasions of indigenous
territories during the 17th and 18th centuries, orchestrated by the colonial project
and carried out by the bandeirantes, were cricial to the process of structuring
global power patterns, whose violent dynamics of the imperial way of life
constitute the basis of modern international politics. Thus, engaging with
indigenous peoples struggle for their territories represents an engagement with the
central actors and disputes of international politics.

[pt] Em razão do desenvolvimento tecnológico das últimas décadas, a sociedade
[en] The technological development of recent decades, contemporary society has
faced profound changes that have given rise, according to Shoshana Zuboff, to
Surveillance Capitalism. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the impacts of
surveillance capitalism in the brazilian legal system that justified the promulgation
of Constitutional Amendment 115/22 and the Brazilian General Data Protection
Law (LGPD), based on the strong principled on a hybrid regulatory model in which,
in addition to establishing obligations for treatment agents, creates an environment
that encourages the adoption of good practices and governance. This way, it will be
analyzed how data compliance can be an efficient instrument to promote, in
practice, the adoption of the LGPD principles and the ANPD regulation in a data
protection culture in Brazil.

instrumento teórico-metodológico e a produção teórica
