[pt] ESTUDO DA APLICABILIDADE DO MÉTODO SIMPLIFICADO DA AASHTO PARA DISTRIBUIÇÃO TRANSVERSAL DE CARGAS MÓVEIS PARA PONTES NO BRASIL / [en] STUDY OF THE APPLICABILITY OF THE AASHTO SIMPLIFIED METHOD FOR TRANSVERSAL LOAD DISTRIBUTION FOR BRIDGES IN BRAZILMURILO SOARES SANTOS 26 July 2016 (has links)
importante no processo.
especificados. / [en] The dissemination of softwares that implement the Finite Element Method
(FEM) influences the way the structural projects are made. For bridge projects,
where the simplified methods have been for many years the main type of analysis,
the FEM has become an important tool in the process. Currently the simplified
methods complement the use of FEM in different ways, in the pre-dimensioning
of the structural elements and providing an estimate of the shear and bending
moments, reducing the possibility of errors during the design process. In the United
States, AASHTO LRFD (2012) provides a simplified method for transverse
wheel load distribution into their regulatory specifications that requires only the
calculation of a load distribution factor. The objective of this work is to evaluate if
this method can be used as a rational alternative for the design of bridges in Brazil.
For this purpose, it was necessary to understand the difference between Brazilian
and American standards, suggest a calculation model based on the American
standard that meets Brazilian regulation and validate this model with FEM analysis
and other simplified methods. The finite element models were validated by the
comparison of the results of its analysis with the results of actual load tests on
bridges performed by other authors. Safe results are obtained for all analyzed cases
when using the proposed calculation model, therefore it was able to determine
the transverse wheel load distribution and the maximum displacement of the
stringers of bridges with only one span and concrete beams. In bridges with steel
beams, the method also obtained safe results in the analysis of transverse wheel
load distribution, but just as the others simplified methods, it is not able to determine
the maximum displacements with high reliability. It follows, therefore, that
the proposed methodology can be used in the design of bridges with one span in
Brazil, if the applicability limits are specified.

[en] DESIGN ID: A PANORAMA ABOUT IDENTITIES OF DESIGN IN BRAZIL THROUGH FUTURE DESIGNERS POINT OF VIEW / [pt] RG DESIGN: UM PANORAMA SOBRE A(S) IDENTIDADE(S) DO DESIGN NO BRASIL, ATRAVÉS DO OLHAR DOS FORMANDOS17 May 2021 (has links)
design na contemporaneidade e qual(is) a(s) possível(is) identidade(s) do design no
Brasil.
específicos: caracterizar o design na contemporaneidade; levantar conceitos de design;
a(s) identidade(s) do design no Brasil. / [en] This thesis researched how future designers understand design in
contemporaneity. From students discourse and their theoretical references, it was
possible identify that the understanding of design in Brazil it s influenced by
references countries in design, which compromises the constitutions of a national
identity and/or regional identities. We had as objective establish a viewpoint
about graduation students perceptions about what is design, most important
characters that inspires them, and future performance. For that, it was
accomplished the following specific objectives: characterize design in
contemporaneity; bring up design concepts; raise the foreign influences in the
Brazilian Design formation; identify in future designer s discourse, the
perceptions about concepts of design, influences and perspectives of performance;
think over identity (identities) of design in Brazil. Presently, there are few studies
addressing to characteristics and comprehensions of future designers about their
profession. With this research, it was possible to establish a viewpoint about
student s perception of concepts, influences and perspectives of performance,
which contributes to the discussion about identities of design in Brazil. The
methodological course was lined as an exploratory/explanatory e
qualitative/quantitative research, with the following steps: bibliographic and
documental research; pre-test research; case study in national territory; and
reflections about identities of design in Brazil.

As
cisnormatividade branca e potencializada pelas modificações hormonais e
destruidor do mundo binário. / [en] Stains are part of life: I leave a mark on the other, the other leaves
one on me. Here, I propose the writing of an essay that aims to investigate
gestures of staining the gender binary. I look at affects, words and matter
that make up the grammar of Western gender. In this work, the following
are representatives of affection: pain and shame; of words: the name; of
matter: the body. The first stain is presented as a proposal aiming new
ways of relating to affects marked as negative in their association with the
feminine and unproductiveness. The second and third stains locate the
project in the field of transgender studies, when we enter a/effectively in
the experiences of transforming the self. I seek to rethink the relationship
with the past of trans bodies, usually invited to oblivion in order to achieve
an approximation of cisnormativity. I revisit the name rectification gestures
and body modifications as stain gestures that are not forgotten. I propose
that we think of the dead name from a point of view outside the Western
binary that excludes the dead from living relationships. And I also reflect
on ways to relate in an inventive way with the transformation of our bodies
into monstrous bodies, invented by white cisnormativity and potentiated by
hormonal and surgical modifications. The objective of this research is to
think about what possibilities open up when we do not forget the past of
our bodies and pay attention to stains as a way of life and mundification in
its destructive potential of the binary world.

do botequim parece estar sujeita à lógica do neoliberalismo urbano. / [en] This research explores the significance of the botequim as a vital space for
historically marginalized groups, providing alternative ways of living and a sense
of belonging to the neighborhood, streets, and the city. It also highlights the
connection between the botequim and the urban dimension, as it constitutes a
meeting place and occupation in a city that is becoming increasingly segregated.
The study aims to broaden the discussion on literature that addresses the botequim,
its relationship with the territory and forms of sociability, as well as its implications
for the individual s autonomy and various forms of oppression, in addition to the
impact of urban and cultural policies. The research also aims to prompt a critical
reflection on the implementation of cultural policies in Rio de Janeiro, where the
heritage recognition of the botequim seems to be subject to the logic of urban
neoliberalism.

[en] MIGRANT SUBJECTIVITIES AND THE PATHS OF VIOLENCE: FROM TRAUMA POLICIES TO LITERATURE AS REFUGE / [pt] SUBJETIVIDADES MIGRANTES E AS VEREDAS DA VIOLÊNCIA: DAS POLÍTICAS DO TRAUMA À LITERATURA COMO REFÚGIOMARIANA SALLES KEHL 09 November 2022 (has links)
termo violência – aproximando-o principalmente do registro do imaginário –,
[en] A reflection on forced migratory displacements and the status quo of the
refugee presents itself, on a global scale, as an imperative issue. In an equally
critical way, violence and its multiple forms of expression are evidenced as one of
the most categorical contemporary adversities whose consideration is necessary.
Such phenomena can be located repeatedly in history and their resurgence calls
for psychoanalysis, a knowledge that dialogues with culture, to position itself in
the face of its specificities. Considering the subjective configurations found within
the scope of forced migration movements, clinical practice with refugees may
reveal particularities, such as, contingentially, the presence of traumatic elements
and expressive gaps in the representational capacity of the subjects, resulting from
exposure to violence. With the theoretical framework based primarily on Freud
and Lacan, it is proposed in this thesis, the resumption of the course of
psychoanalysis regarding the conception of the term violence – approaching it
mainly in the register of the imaginary – its developments, its articulation with the
politics of trauma and, as an illustrative resource, with the experiences of diaspora
through the literature promoted by authors with biographical migratory
background. In this way, we intend to develop fundamental aspects for the logical
understanding of the refugee subject and his borders, and of psychoanalysis and
its littorals.

[pt] A PERFORMANCE MILITAR BRASILEIRA NA MINUSTAH E A PACIFICAÇÃO DO HAITI: GÊNERO E RAÇA COMO LOCAIS DE PRODUÇÃO DE FRONTEIRAS E A AMBIGUIDADE BRASILEIRA / [en] THE BRAZILIAN MILITARY PERFORMANCE IN MINUSTAH AND THE HAITI PACIFICATION: GENDER AND RACE AS SITES WHERE BOUNDARIES ARE PRODUCED AND BRAZILIAN AMBIGUITYPEDRO GOMES DE SOUZA BARROS 12 September 2016 (has links)
[en] Following the theoretical proposal for a critical analysis about peace operations, this research, embedded by feminists and postcolonials perspectives and in dialogue with feminist critical theory of Geography, highlight the ambiguity of Brazil as a pacificator during the MINUSTAH. Arguing that the Brazilian performance in the UN peace operation in Haiti must be analyzed as an encounter of Haitian and Brazilian histories this study examines how since the Christopher Columbus discovery, in 1492, until the green and yellow military performance (with their own history of pacification previous to the MINUSTAH) with blue helmet, which started in 2004 and it is ongoing, the relationship between a foreign force in Haitian soil with Haitians have had gender and race as sites where boundaries are produced. Looking at this encounter and theses sites the Brazilian military performance is understood as ambiguous due to the constant contingent reproduction of gender and race as sites where boundaries are produced.

[pt] NEGOCIAÇÕES COM O ARMÁRIO: HOMOSSEXUALIDADES E ESTIGMA EM NARRATIVAS DE HISTÓRIA DE VIDA / [en] NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE CLOSET: HOMOSEXUALITIES AND STIGMA IN NARRATIVES OF LIFE STORIESLEANDRO DA SILVA GOMES CRISTOVAO 15 September 2016 (has links)
[en] The present thesis, restricted to the indisciplinary tendencies of the research in Applied Linguistics, takes an interest in the situated construction of discourses about homosexualities and its relations with the idea of stigma. For this purpose, sequences of interviews with three men who create senses of homosexuality in narratives of life stories are analyzed. Regarded as discursive organizations that develop senses of their life experiences, such narratives enable the careful observation of the negotiations that are held with the dispositif of the closet; in other words, the compilation of discourses that deal with regimes of (in)visibility of the performances of homosexuality. Performance, in this thesis, is the theoretical construct employed in order to understand the identity practices that produce the homosexualities. By distancing itself from perspectives that essentialize the identities of sexuality, this thesis establishes relations with the studies of queer orientation in order to gain some understanding of the significance of homosexuality. This research is affiliated with qualitative and interpretivist tendencies in Social Sciences as far as data generation and analysis are concerned. The analytical task invests in the field of Interactional Sociolinguistics as well as studies in Narrative Analysis so as to address the recorded interviews. The theoretical-analytical constructs of narrative, face and contextualization cues allow for an observation that points to three different layers: the interaction established between researcher and participants in the situation of interview, the localized construction of narrative episodes that comprise the life story of the participants and the strategies of coherence setting with macro social discourses. The idea of homosexuality as a social stigma to negotiate with in the interviews covers the analytical task. Unlike classic studies about stigma that aim at mixed contexts – between non-deviant and deviant subjects – in the present thesis, the discursive materiality of encounters between equals is analyzed, since both researcher and participants construct themselves as
homosexual individuals. An outspoken enterprise of a political nature, this thesis intends to offer contributions to the field of social studies about homosexualities, presenting the heterogeneity of the performances considered when a closer look into the interaction and the co-construction of narratives is taken. In addition to this is the intention of strengthening dissenting voices in the academic sphere. For this reason, the negotiations with the closet extrapolate the encounters for data generation and flow as an ongoing process throughout the pages of the thesis.

[en] SUBLIMATION AND IDEALIZATION: INSTINCTUAL VICISSITUDES IN THE CONSTITUTION OF CULTURE / [pt] SUBLIMAÇÃO E IDEALIZAÇÃO: DESTINOS DA PULSÃO NA CONSTRUÇÃO DA CULTURACECILIA FREIRE MARTINS 15 September 2016 (has links)
Tanto a sublimação quanto a idealização
[en] This thesis proposes an investigation about the concepts of sublimation and
idealization in psychoanalysis, in order to verify the hypothesis that both
participate in the constitution of culture. Thus we suggest that, in the Freud s text,
culture is conceived as a response to the inexorable condition of helplessness and
that its constitution depends upon the renunciation of instinctual satisfaction.
Although sublimation is the instinctual vicissitude that is traditionally associated
with the construction of culture, we propose that idealization also participates in
this process. Both sublimation and idealization comply with the instinctual
renunciation required by culture, but while sublimation renounces to the initial
aims of the drive through desexualization, idealization only inhibits the original
aim of the instinct. Finally, we suggest that the dynamics of contemporary society
allow for the hipotesis of, on one hand, a decrease in sublimatory activity and, in
the other hand, an increase of idealization.

[pt] PAISAGEM URBANA, TERRORISMO E EMANCIPAÇÃO: A MÁSCARA E O SORRISO NA TRILOGIA CINEMATOGRÁFICA DE BATMAN / [en] URBAN LANDSCAPE, TERRORISM, AND EMANCIPATION: THE MASK AND THE SMILE IN BATMAN S CINEMATOGRAPHIC TRILOGYNICHOLAS DE ANDUEZA SINEIRO 19 September 2016 (has links)
A paisagem urbana
[en] This research examines, from the Batman cinematographic trilogy (2005-
2012), the way in which expressive procedures elaborated in the images can build
(or not) the possibility of the urban space s emancipation. Inserted in the post 9/11
context, the three movies dialogue with the iconological traces of the War on
Terror: faceless figures, doubles, multiples, anonymous, specular images; and at
the centre of the dispute, Gotham metropolis. The necessary cost, however, for
the salvation of Gotham by Batman seems to be the monopoly of the city as well
as of the city s image: a monopoly that serves as a shield against the
kaleidoscopic effects of terror. The urban landscape (an amalgam between the city
and its image) thus becomes a privileged medium of analysis. And hence the
centrality of the Trilogy s second movie in the proposed discussion: the iconoclast
attack of the Joker, through play and laughter, desecrates the monopoly (of
truth , good , order , and image) instituted by Batman. With the invasion of a
different image between the movie’s visibilities, the univocal disrupts itself, and
with it the monopoly over Gotham and its representation.
