[en] THE DIVISIONS, NOMINATIONS AND LITIGATIONS OF POLITICS: RANCIÈRE AND SOCIOLOGY / [pt] A POLÍTICA, SUAS PARTILHAS, NOMEAÇÕES E LITÍGIOS: RANCIÈRE E A SOCIOLOGIADANIEL CARDOSO DE OLIVEIRA 30 July 2018 (has links)
[en] The purpose of this thesis is to present the uniqueness of Jacques Racière s political theory, discussing the reason of dissent as the path to a possible and always unfinished emancipation. The thesis defends that Rancière s criticism of what is, on his evaluation, a platonic antiplatonism of Bourdieu, can be harnessed to think entirely different sociological contexts. The question to be addressed is the core of affinity between philosophy and sociology, which is, between the philosophical aspiration to government and the sociological need to escape economy s guardianship. As a condition for the triumph of its scientific status, sociology advances on the territory inaugurated by Plato where community synthesis are formulated through myths (mythos) that shuffles the relation between narrative and discourse. Thus, we make reference to some objections raised by Charlotte Nordmann and Alberto Toscano to develop a defense of Rancière s positions. However, criticism of sociology has been explored in a number of authors and sub-themes in which Bourdieu is not addressed but anecdotally. The authors are: Alfred Cobban, from his book Social Interpretation of the French Revolution, discussed by Rancière in The Names of History; Hannah Arendt, from divergences between her readings on the social and the readings on sociology from Rancière; Boltanski and Chiapello, from their book: The new spirit of capitalism, whose reference to a proximity with Rancière is addressed, under the latter s rejection.

[en] This work is configured with artistic perceptions and theoretical reflections guided by equity. Fragments, dialogues, short scenes, minimal stories generated especially for the present composition in constant exchange with considerations on practical-theoretical elements. The fictional construction and the elaboration of the thought, marking a self-critical reading of the work thus composed, bring to light the correspondence between the function of artistic fiction and that of philosophy in the construction of knowledge.

[pt] O objetivo desta dissertação é investigar e compreender a
ficcionalização do real e a historicização do ficcional. Tal
[en] The aim of this dissertation is to exam and understand the
configuration of
José Cardoso Pires` autobiographical writing by analyzing
two of his books, E
agora, José? and De Profundis, valsa lenta. The research
intends to investigate
how Cardoso Pires` autobiography intersects the
fictionalization of the real and
the historicization of fiction. This characteristic enables
an analysis based on Paul
Ricoeur`s thoughts on the value of narrative as the
essential mean of expression
and configuration of human experience. Thus, considering
the amalgam of genres
in Cardoso Pires` autobiographical writings, an enquire
into his non-fictional
narrative demands a theoretical approach which may join
history and fiction,
public and private, real and imaginary in a single space
able to unite the diversity
of narrative forms and themes highlighted by this different
kind of
autobiographical writing.

Neste processo, produzir o
Demonstraremos, a
moderna, chamando a
[en] Fiction and testimony discusses the possibility of an
analysis of the writing
procedures used by António Lobo Antunes on his work. After
reading four novels
published during the last decade, the thesis highlights one
of the projects that
specify the writing of fiction of this Author: the
representation of subjectivity as a
verbal construct, and the presentation of characters
created by the narrative voices
themselves, articulated as a text. In this process, to
produce the believable to the
detriment of the truthful is the strategy used by the
writer to grant to the accounts
a density that put under strain the testimonial and
fictional ideas. The entangled
voices - whose action is the basis of the novels analyzed -
points to the building
of personages which are, at the same time, discursive
places and emblems of the
impossible fulfillment of a life project. We will show,
from this reasoning, the
way Lobo Antunes passionately stages the debacle of the
myths supporting
modern life, calling the attention to the discursive ways
that format contemporary
living.

[en] This dissertation starts from the Jacques Rancierè s visibility regimes and from the Didi-Huberman s concept of montage to the analysis of the text Desmedida, 2006, by Ruy Duarte de Carvalho. The central objective is to evidence this artistic production like an instrument of interventional writing, inspired by three different logics: political, native communities and cinematographic. For that purpose, it s noted that artistic manifestation as a space of resistance, reaction and confrontation to discursive images generated with the intention of limiting existences in different times of the colonial domination, as well as the contemporary colonialities.

[en] Having the trilogy As mil e uma Noites: O inquieto (Vol. 1), O desolado (Vol. 2) e O encantado (Vol. 3) [Arabian nights: The restless ones (Vol. 1), The desolate one (Vol. 2) and The enchanted one (Vol.3) directed by the Portuguese movie maker Miguel Gomes as a starting point, this research aims to analyze how his work deals with the editing process as a tool to think over political issues in Portugal. From Didi-Huberman perspective, the editing as a thought-building practice will be dealt as beyond a mere phase of the movie production. At this point, reflections can be made on what extent the usage of heterogeneous
elements, such as the use of the book as a narrative device, the setting, the choice of actors and non-actors, and the shuffle between reality and fiction, films can produce dissent (as in Jacques Rancière) and, as a result, leading to reflections about the relationship between aesthetics and politics. The hypothesis is that these pictures have their take on certain concrete places by rebuilding them inventively, thus enabling a modulate space in which the collective sphere has an effective weight able on tensing the established power relations.

As
[en] Freedom House, an US institution, reported 2019 as the fourteenth year in
a row of a global democratic recession, a crisis that resuscitates the discussion
about the concept used to name these anti-democratic movements. Much is said
that they would be new versions of fascism, despite different characteristics in
each manifestation. Italian semiologist Umberto Eco anticipated this issue and
created a concept that seeks to resolve this issue: Ur-Fascism. Ur-Fascism is fascism
that never ends, that is reconstructed, reworked, adapted to each era, given
its infinite character. The different appearances of fascism are not limited to the
politics of reality: the politics of fiction tried to present it in different ways. Starting
from the discussion of a theoretical basis on political theory, in particular on
Ur-Fascism, it will be possible to perceive how fiction treated apparitions and
characteristics of this phenomenon, taking, for this, two objects: It can t happen
here, by Sinclair Lewis, and Look who s back, by Timur Vermes. Thus, it will be
possible to work on the Ur-Fascism idiosyncrasies of these fictions, their differences
and similarities, in line with the bases of political theory and, in the process,
expand both the state of the art on Ur-Fascism literatures and contribute to the
discussion on a little understood political phenomenon. Finally, it ends with a discussion,
based on the idea of fireflies, developed by Pasolini and Didi-Huberman,
about the importance of art, especially anti-fascist art, in the fight against Ur-
Fascism.

[pt] PENSAR A HISTÓRIA COMO EXPERIÊNCIA DE ALTERIDADE: PSICANÁLISE E HISTÓRIA NA OBRA DE MICHEL DE CERTEAU / [en] THINKING HISTORY AS AN ONGOING ALTERATION: PSYCHOANALYSIS AND HISTORY IN THE WORK OF MICHEL DE CERTEAUCLARISSA PARANHOS DE ARAUJO RIBEIRO 19 August 2021 (has links)
junto a Freud. / [en] This dissertation studies the theoretical approach of history proposed by the
French historian Michel de Certeau (1925 - 1986), focusing on the way the
author introduces some psychoanalytic concepts in his argument. The most
important between the concepts chosen is the approach of language developed
within the reading of Freud by the French psychoanalyst Jaques Lacan, which
allows the historian to question the supposed ties attaching history s methods
and discourse to a certain conception of reality. This leads Michel de Certeau
to a reflection on the incidence of a sort of freudian time in the act of writing
history. On the basis of this development is Certeau s critics of the role played
by institutions in the construction of knowledge and identity, for which
elaboration he also convokes psychoanalysis. Certeau s epistemic and ethical concerns are assembled in the concept of theoretical fiction, brought up by a long length study of Freud s work.

[en] HISTORY AND POETICS OF HISTORY: APPROXIMATIONS BETWEEN POETRY AND HISTORY IN THE ESSAYS AND POETRY OF OCTAVIO PAZ (1914-1998) / [pt] HISTÓRIA POÉTICA E POÉTICA DA HISTÓRIA: APROXIMAÇÕES ENTRE POESIA E HISTÓRIA NAS OBRAS ENSAÍSTICAS E NAS POESIAS DE OCTAVIO PAZ (1914-1998)MAYCON DA SILVA TANNIS 07 February 2023 (has links)
[en] This work presents and analyzes the close proximity between Poetry and History that becomes the basis and method of writing Octavio Paz s poetic essays. The poet treats history as a place of poetry. This mobilizes the methodical category that is common in historiographical work, into the realm of fiction. What will be the impact on the mobilization of poetry and its terrain as a method for writing history? Since history is always tensioned between fiction and truth, is the critical narrative about the past subjected to truth? If poetry is always insurgent to the truth, the resulting force is destructive and favorable in relation to History. If, on the one hand, the concatenation of forces that the multiple images of the past evoked by Paz allow a proximity to the past, on the other hand, a brief moment of lucidity deprives the truth of the centrality of the historiographical discourse and the performance of the essay allows a historiographical procedure that represent these images around a sense, no longer factual and teleological, but turned to the event and the multiple meanings that reality can have.

[en] A DIVE IN THE FICTION OF HISTORY / [pt] UM MERGULHO NA FICÇÃO DA HISTÓRIAMARIA DE LOURDES MORGADO COELHO 24 March 2010 (has links)
[en] We live in a world in crisis. And this crisis is also cultural. If
multiculturalism encourages the dialogue between different areas of culture, it
steals, many times, the specificity, dilutes its marks. And it happens, at this
moment, with history, with fiction and reality.
The conception of history that we decided to interpret, seemed like a
narrative of simple structure, when it revealed to be a narrative of complex
structure by following the steps of fiction, oscillating between tragedy and
feuilleton. A story can be a historical narrative or a fable, depending on "how you
tell" this story.
The same occurs with fiction that can, many times, witness the truth of a
historical fact.
This approximation between these two discursive practices is the crucial
point of our research, verifying how historical and fictional discourses behave,
both manufactured and elaborated by the fetishism of facts in historical-fiction
production.
This paper presents the results of a study that bent over the bias that
outbreak the proximity of history and fiction narratives. It has focused social and
discursive representations in the investigations made by the analysis of the literary
by Affonso Romano de Sant Anna, O Conto Da Ilha Desconhecida by José
Saramago and O Vendedor de Passados by José Eduardo Agualusa.
Therefore, we investigated several literary genres, such as: a letter, as a
historical document, a poem, a tale and a romance. We crossed the Atlantic in the
XV and XVI century until the present century XXI, traveling through literacy
between Portugal, Brazil and Africa.
